The third in Paul Selig’s popular “I Am the Word” channeled literature series, this extraordinary psychological-spiritual guide addresses how to overcome low self-worth and claim our true purpose as individuals.
Winner of the 2014 Nautilus Award represents “Better Books for a Better World”—the Silver Award in the category of Religion / Other Traditions.
In his third channeled text, Paul Selig—acclaimed author of I Am the Word and The Book of Love and Creation —brings us his most practical message yet.
Informing us that “you decide what you are worth,” Selig’s spiritual guides take readers through a program to understand our own inherent worth, and beat the fears that drain our inborn spiritual knowing..
Selig reveals that true understanding of our life’s purpose can be found through “service”—the practice of the thing that you most love. Readers can discover their own form of service through this powerful “I know who I am, I know what I am, I know how I serve.”
Born in New York City, Paul Selig attended New York University and received his master's degree from Yale. A spiritual experience in 1987 left him clairvoyant. Selig is considered one of the foremost contributors to the field of channeled literature working today.
Paul offers channeled workshops internationally. He serves on the faculty of The Omega Institute, The Kripalu Center and the Esalen Institute. Also a noted playwright and educator, he served on the faculty of NYU for over 25 years. He directed the MFA in Creative Writing Program at Goddard College for many years, and he now serves on the college's Board of Trustees. He lives in New York City where he maintains a private practice as an intuitive and conducts frequent livestream seminars. Information on public workshops, livestreams and private readings can be found at www.paulselig.com.
This is the third book in his trilogy. Having read the other two, I found it to be as equally thought provoking, insightful, and life changing. It has enlightened my perspective and understanding about worth, alignment of frequency and energy vibration. The book has left me with a greater consciousness about myself, others and the world around me. I look forward to reading the next book.
Some lines from the text that resonated with me include:
"You stand in your worth each and every day. Like it or not, you decide what you are worth. You always have."
"You must be in your knowing to claim your worth."
"There is no one who encounters you in your life that is not your teacher, that is not there to show you who you are in your own reflection as you engage with them."
"You cannot change something the same way that you create it. You need a new thought or a new possibility to lift you to the next level of thought and vibration that may transform something that you have known and agreed to historically."
"You may only know truth by aligning to it."
"Every opportunity is an opportunity for you to know yourself in a new way."
I went back and forth on a rating for this, but I think that three stars is a good spot for it. This was a super interesting book, and the first channeled text I've ever read.
Paul Selig is a channel for entities known only as 'The Guides'. This book is by these entities through Paul, not by Paul. I was familiar with Selig through his appearances on Duncan Trussell's podcast (as well as a couple others) and while I always found his channeling very interesting, I also found it hard to consume in an audible format. When he channels and brings forth the Guides' words, his method involves a really trippy double-speak that, while fun to listen to, also makes it rather difficult for me to retain what he's saying. That being the case I thought I'd give one of his books a read to see if a different format was more beneficial to me, and thanks to the kindness of a friend I was able to do just that.
I will say that the book does have a repetitive nature and a wordiness that I found consistent with issues I had while listening to Paul. That didn't totally go away with the format switch. However, I did find it easier to take in overall, and I found that the book was full of not just valuable reminders, but valuable lessons. The Guides speak on aligning with new possibilities and focusing on intention and expression in what you claim. Manifestation isn't a word thrown around too often in the text itself, but it's one that kept coming back to me while reading. At its heart the message of the book seemed to be to guide readers into seeing themselves as a piece of God, the Christ Consciousness. A little sliver of infinity, as I like to say. Many will have issues with the language used (I understand that all too well, I used to bristle at it immediately) and some of course will dismiss the entire idea of a channel outright. That is, of course, understandable. Whether or not I personally believe what Paul is doing here... isn't really the point. I don't have any personal experience with channeling, so it would be all too easy for me to be skeptical. Instead I choose to approach experiences like this one with the knowledge that Paul believes it. And I'm a firm believer in the power of belief itself. Books and ideas like this are all about receptivity. Just as Paul has to be open to receive, so too does the reader. You'll get nothing out of it approaching it with a closed mind or a closed heart. So if Paul believes it, that's what I find interesting, and that's why I gave it a read. I do not regret having done so in the slightest.
There is no one who encounters you in your life that is not your teacher, that is not there to show you who you are in your own reflection as you engage with them.
I am in awe of Paul Selig's work and the writing and messages of his channeled books. It’s an understatement to say what an incredible impact they’ve had on my perspective of life. This particular book startled me a number of times with its wisdom and insights. I’ve felt a pressing need to continue what feels like a deeper and deeper journey, and so onward I go to the next series of books by Paul and his Guides. For me, these books have made an incredible difference.
I found this book intriguing in a different way. I have never read a book like it and would recommend it to those who have an open mind. Selig's ideas are quite different and may be helpful and insightful to those interested in reading this book. It was a fluid and easy read, the content was a bit difficult to navigate but this is because it was third in a series that I had not yet read.
I cherished every word of this book. There's no way to describe its impact on me. Can't wait for the next book in the series to come out around Christmas time.
This is by far my favorite Paul/guides book. So much to chew on and digest and like his other books, you are not the same person that first sits down to read it. It's also not a book to speed read. The concepts can be quite dense and a lot to take in. There's so much to chew on and digest around my own worth, living in smallness, and choosing fear. This book was a good reminder that I am an aspect of the creator (inherently worthy - no matter what my past might try to make me believe) I, just like you am not outside of worth. You have it, it's there, it always has been. A stunning reminder and "knowing" for me. I highly recommend this one if you are someone who also struggles with self worth. If you can't seem to find yours, this book will help you know it and remember it. I feel like I will be referring back to and rereading this book many times for more of its message to sink in.
Definitely valuable and probably changed/is changing my life for the better, so very grateful for that.
I found the language/phrasing really convoluted and tending toward the archaic, so it was sometimes a bit of a slug to really get into it and get the meaning.
Started this as an audiobook in October (finished reading the printed version a couple of months later). Narrated by the author. It's a lot easier to listen to him read this than when he's doing the channeling live. I'll give him a 5.
If I could give this book a hundred stars, I would. I have been reading and re-reading this book over the past year and every time I re-read a passage, it speaks to me in a different way. I have this book on Audible, on Kindle and I'm planning to get a hard copy. The vibration of this book is through the roof. Definitely a must read.
This book and the two before it in the series literally changed my life. I recommend that you read the books in order beginning with ' I am The Word', then 'The Book of Love and Creation'. On to the next series!
another excellent work channeled from the guides by Paul Selig, this time about self worth and recognising the worth in all beings. certainly worth archiving.
I like books that make me think, open my mind to new possibilities, and Paul's books never miss a beat on that! I often have each book's Audio, Digital, and paperback. I like going back and forth and reading or making notes in my journals when I have an ah ha moment or a breakthrough. With these books, you learn in bite-size pieces, a little at a time.
I took my time with this book, as there is a lot to digest, and I really wanted to understand and learn. I know that I am a better person for having "listened to" these channeled words and I am grateful for what I've learned. I highly recommend this for anyone.
This is the third book I have read composed by these guides who are interested in showing us our true worth, true beauty and guiding us to see all others the same way. I know who I am, I know what I am, and I know how I serve. Words to live by and practice life by. I highly recommend this book, and the others in the series, as words of enlightened wisdom to soak up and practice every day. True, these books do not make one enlightened, nor perfect in each action, but they are the mapping of truth for who we are, what we are, and how we serve in this lifetime. I am Word. And so are you.
