Pray to your Father in secret

Rate this book
The sight of Jesus in prayer made such an impression on his disciples that they waited until He had finished so as not to disturb Him and then asked, "Lord, teach us to pray." Whereupon He did not put forward any theoretical or scholarly ideas; He simply placed them right away in prayer: "When you pray, say 'Father'." This book is in direct line with the teaching of Jesus since its purpose is to invite the reader to enter into the 'cloister of the heart' to discover the look of the Father Who sees in secret and knows what we need before we ask Him. After this encounter the dialogue with the Father is open and we can pray in the secret of the heart. We cannot however discover the depths of the Father's look at us, nor even respond to it by calling Him by His name if the Spirit does not flow forth in us with "groanings which cannot be uttered." When the Spirit has truly taken hold of us and overturned everything, we will no longer ask how to pray; we shall rather ask how to stop praying because prayer will have simply taken us over and we shall pray without ceasing. - From the Publisher
