I’m always on the lookout for stories that deal with service men and women coming home and having to deal with PTSD. It’s a big issue that I don’t think gets enough time in the spotlight, so I like to read authors that are working to tackle it head on. I think Rose did an amazing job in that regard.

Jake has been struggling ever since he got home from the war. He saw things that he can’t get out of his head, and although he’s scraping by, it’s a battle every day. Working at the bar he owns with his brother gives him the chance to interact, without having tons of responsibility. That is until Sophie walks through the door.

Sophie wants a simple life, out of the spotlight of her parents and former career. Working as bar manager is something she loves, and getting to work closely with Jake is more than she expected. He’s surly and sexy and everything she wants, but shouldn’t have. Their relationship is an uphill battle, but one that Sophie is ready to fight for.

I think Rose did an amazing job dealing with the side effects PTSD has on the little things in everyday life. I love the way that Jake struggled, day in and day out. Sometimes he had trouble getting out of bed, other times he would be good until some noise or word sent him spiraling out of control. It felt very realistic, very intense, and Rose didn’t hold back with the trauma that Jake suffers. For readers, beware that some of the scenes may be extremely graphic in detail, and difficult to read.

Although I thought Rose did an incredible job with dealing with Jake’s PTSD, I had a hard time connecting to the romance. While I wholeheartedly believe that Jake and Sophie would have struggled like this if they were real life people, I just couldn’t connect to their story. I didn’t really understand why Sophie wanted to stick it out with Jake, especially since he was a jerk at times. I also didn’t really see why they were so passionate and devoted to each other. I think the PTSD issues were so intense and so real, that the romance really fell to the wayside for me.

That being said, I liked Jake and Sophie as individuals, but again, I felt like their character development took a bit of a backseat to Jake’s emotional state. I did like getting to see the way Jake grew into more of a person and less of a shell-shocked soldier. However, I didn’t feel as if Sophie had as much of an opportunity to grow. I would have liked to see a little more from her on the page, instead of having so much of it happened before the book even started.

All in all, I thought Rose did a wonderful job with shining light on the hard issue of PTSD. However, it did feel as if at times other aspects of the book suffered because that one issue was so intense, so flushed out, and such a heavy aspect of the plotline. I would have liked a bit more exploration into other areas of the book. That being said, what Rose did, she did tremendously.
I give Seducing Mr Right a B-

It’s a great book, the writing is good. It’s a very romantic litte story.

The characters are well developed, their conversations are very entertaining to read, the story was so enjoyable it flows while you’re reading it.
Sophie is a spitfire, very charismatic I take no crap from anyone ex-ballerina, working as an accountant where she meets Jake who’s almost naked sleeping in her new office.
Jake is a broken soldier trying to find himself after being injured at war and suffering from PTSD.
It has a couple of typos but nothing that serious that cannot be fixed.
The only downside was towards the end, it felt kinda rushed, I think it needed one more chapter.

I go either way on military romance novels, sometimes I absolutely enjoy them from beginning to end and other times I feel like the whole book reads like one giant cliche of what being in the military "really is," I was definitely please with the portrayal of the military/vet in this story. Plus I have a serious weakness for all things ballet (I think it stems from years of ballet class) so for me this book was just about everything I could ask for.

So Sophie gives up her career as a ballet dancer to be the manager of a bar, and Jake is half owner of said bar, but he is suffering from a big case of PTSD from his time in a war zone. From the moment Sophie means Jake, she is compassionate and kind to him, she finds him drunk and passed out on her couch on her first day of work, and without knowing the guy she makes sure everyone leaves him alone and takes care of him. I think it says a lot about who Sophie is that she was willing to take care of someone she didn't know at all without so much as a second thought, she definitely has a good heart.

Jake is damaged, haunted by things that most people could never understand and will never experience for themselves. Jake wants to be a good guy, he wants to be the guy everyone wants him to be. But he has a serious case of PTSD and sometimes he has episodes that can't be predicted and that he without a doubt doesn't know how to handle all that well. He also has some issues letting people in as well. But thankfully he has an overprotective brother, Dave, who keeps a watchful eye on him.

I think my favorite thing about Sophie and Jake is how much Jake wants to make sure he never hurts Sophie and Sophie just wants to be there for Jake in any way she can. She wants to truly know Jake, to be there to help him through any episode he might have, and just love him unconditionally. I liked that the progression of the relationship is slow going, that they both went into it slowly and really had a much more emotional connection before a physical one. I think that sometimes the build up to the physical makes the pay off so much more worth it in the end, and in this case it worked so well. I really liked the two of them together, even when Jake makes mistakes and makes stupid decisions, you always know he is coming from a good place, so I spent the whole novel really rooting for the two of them.

Lately I just want to say how impressed I was with Rose's portrayal of Jake, his PTSD didn't read as over the top, it read as authentic, and that's not an easy thing to do; she did a good job representing vets who suffer from PTSD and I couldn't review this book without mentioning that. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who likes a contemporary romance, especially if you like books with military characters in them. Happy reading to you all!

Sophie comes to Ct from Boston for a change. A ballerina who lost the love of dance and constant pressure from her socialite parents bring her to work the accounts in a bar. She finds a half naked Jake Sanders hungover and sleeping in her office and is immediately attracted. Little does she know he suffers from PTSD.
Jake wakes up in the office remembering someone taking care of him while vomiting from a hangover and immediately a spark is stirred though he wants nothing ignited as he still in battle with himself from the war in Afghanistan and events after coming home.
This is how the story starts off < << another reviewer thought this books makes you all happy and mushy throughout; I however felt the opposite I found this a more touching and deep love story.
The author does a remarkable job showing a slight glimpse of how many of our soldiers come back from the war with PTSD. Certain smells, crowds, noises can easily whip a soldier into a hallucination or attack thinking they are actually in a war zone. The author does great by showing some can't handle the transition from war to home and many unfortunately take their own lives.
In Jakes story he has supportive family and brother to help even with all the help it is such a great struggle. Well now I'm forgetting to mention the fiancé he had who decided to cheat on him while he was at war another thing happening all too often~ cheating~ divorce the author touches base on all and turns this into a great romance novel.
There's flirting between them, sparks, and some sex but can jake learn to handle it commit, trust and love is the question.
Sophie begins falling for Jake but realises he has problems. She doesn't even begin to comprehend extent until she drops by his house and next thing she knows he has her in a hold on the floor with his knee at her neck because she approached him and he didn't hear her so reacted. Can Sophie handle this man with so many inner struggles and is just trying to fit back into the world. Will she have the patience?
There are great scenes and breakthroughs throughout the entire book and actually realizes why here mom is the way she is and her demons. I thought it was an excellent romance with hot scenes and great events happened throughout book while offering the readers insights on PTSD in more than one way besides war as we see with Sophie's mom.
Loved the spunk of both characters the mix of personalities and was well written on every level. My only wish was the ending was rushed. I'm hoping to see more on these two in book two which is due out the end of 2014. I'd also like to see how Doc Murphey is doing ~~ hint hint

“Seducing Mr. Right” is a romantic story, with funny moments here and there, but mostly with a big emotional charge. Besides the romance in this story, the author broaches a more delicate and complex subject: the PTSD and the effects it has on people’s life.
Sophie Agnes has decided to build a new life leaving behind a successful career as a ballerina and a cheating ex fiancé. She accepts a job as a manager at the “Hungry Lion”, a job that will give her more satisfaction then dance did these last few months. On her first day of work she meets Jake Sanders, asleep in her new office half-naked and with no memories of how he got there. She cares for him that day and that is the first step toward friendship. In time, things start to improve on all plans, especially when Sophie seems to be drawn inexplicable towards Jack. But he has his own secrets and demons to fight and she must determine if a man like Jack with such a heavy emotional baggage is worth everything. She decides that he does and I like her for that, she didn’t run and was determined to be with him no matter what. She is good for him and for his emotional state. Their relationship starts soon to bend toward something more powerful and that will scare Jake away. He is very confused about what he feels in his life, and not only about Sophie but about everything else. I mean, he seems to want to get back his life, he starts to go to the group therapy again, he manages to stay in a crowded space, and he even contemplates a future relationship with Sophie. And when everything seems to finally click together, he decides he doesn’t want all those things and ends things with Sophie finding all kind of excuses. After some time apart, Sophie opens her own dance studio and decides to leave the bar. The thought of never seeing her again, puts Jack on the right path and he realizes how stupid he had been and how much he loves her.
I liked the subject and the characters, but I think there could have been more development to the story as there is so much left unsaid here (Sophie’s relationship with her mother, the meetings between Jack and Doc Murphy, Kate and Dave). The final chapter bought a happy conclusion to the story, but it felt a little too rushed. Sophie accepted him and his excuses too easy and fast.A small punishment wouldn’t have been bad, especially because he deserved it, maybe a spoon or two (she seems to love spoons). It could have been more to say.

I saw the cover to Seducing Mr. Right (Unlikely Love, #1) by Rebecca Rose (Published April 1, 2014 by Forever Yours) and I knew I had to read it. The book liner tag line: Only love can heal his wounds . . . And I was gone!!!

Then I kept reading: Gunnery Sergeant Jake Sanders made it through the war in Afghanistan, but he’s struggling to survive the peace at home. Still scarred by his experiences overseas, Jake now spends most of time working out and tending to his brother’s bar and grill. He’s not looking for a girlfriend and avoids intimate relationships . . . until he meets the bar’s gorgeous new manager.

Ex-ballerina Sophie Agnés couldn’t take her eyes off Jake the moment she saw him—he was, after all, sleeping half-naked in her new office when she arrived on her first day of work. The chemistry between them is immediate, and soon it’s not clear who is seducing whom. But Sophie fears that something is keeping Jake from opening his heart to her. And a man with dark secrets may not be the right man for her after all.

My First Visceral Reaction: HEAVY!!! Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is an awful, heartbreaking, life stealing whore…God bless all our soldiers, their families and their futures….yes, bless their futures by freeing them of this burden. I personally thank each and every soldier and wish them love, hugs and understanding. My heart and soul literally ached for Jake, his brother, his parents and even Sophie.

Sophie led a ‘charmed’ life, where her parent and her boyfriend/manager took over every aspect of her life, leaving her all her time and energy to focus on dancing. As a prima ballerina, Sophie sacrificed for her art and for her ‘benefactors’, that was until one day she realized all of her life was built on lies, deceit and shallow flattery. Picking up her whole world, Sophie goes looking for something completely different. Having a business degree and marketing skills in her pocket lead her to Jake and he and his brother’s bar.

Jake is so damaged. Not the cool, sexy, brooding, a chick-broke-my heart kinda damaged, but synapses in my brain don’t work cause they have been blown to freaking smithereens! I loved Jake, his brutal honesty with his brother and his true struggle to come back to the land of the living and join Sophie in a life that can be loving, beautiful and peaceful. I wouldn’t want to give any spoilers because this book should really be read and experienced. A super big 4 ½ stars from Karia for this one! Thank you for a great read @Rebecca Rose!!! Enjoy!

**Got this advanced copy book via a giveaway right here on Goodreads! THANKS!!**

I enjoyed the story and really thought the Author did a nice job of make a romance work around a very serious subject. As someone who was married to a soldier and has many family members and friends who were/are in the Military I've seen my fair share of PTSD and know that it's a serious issue that is being dealt with everyday by our troops. I thought that Rose did plenty of research for this book and it showed in how not only Jake dealth with his PTSD but how having support can help you really deal with it. I thought that Sophie was a strong character and really you have to be in order to deal with a Military man. I enjoyed the relationship between all of the characters throughout the book and was really rooting for Sohpie and Jake to make it through.

There were a few things that I didn't really enjoy like how Jake broke it off with Sophie without explaining the therapy session and what was said about working in himself but instead he made it seem like it just couldn't work and maybe it was her fault. I think that he could have explained that and they still could have been apart and it would have made her quick forgiveness make more sense. I also wasn't a fan of the fact that Jake seemed to form a relationship with Doc in the group but that was never explored at all. I mean Rose showed Jake talking to Dave about it but then kinda dropped it there. I agree with the rest of the reviews and feel like it was a little rushed at the end and could have used another chapter to wrap it up.

On a side note the chapter included at the end for Dave and Kathy's upcoming story really threw me because in this book it looked like they are both not only showing interest in each other but at the start of a relationship; in the chapter for the next book it looks like Kathy is obilivious to Dave's feelings but he CLEARLY is showing interest in this first book. I hope that Rose addresses a SPECIFIC reason or event that causes Kathy to doubt his feelings therefore pulling back.

Overall Rating: 3.5 Rockin' Stars!!!
This book was a sweet romantic story that made you feel mushy and happy inside. The characters are well developed and the plot allows you to enjoy the flow of the story.

"The first step and the hardest step are often one and the same."

Sophia Angés is "dynamite in a pretty little inconspicuous package" and is hired as the manager at the Hungry Lion Bar-n-Grill owned by Jake and Dave. Turning over a new leaf, she leaves her restricted life as a socialite and allows herself to express her emotions after a nasty falling out with her cheating ex-fiance.

Jake Sanders is a wounded war veteran suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Jake has "charisma and honesty" and a gorgeous body that Sophie is immediately drawn to along with the strong mental connection they share.

The author delivers a beautiful story of a broken soldier searching for life after his service. The ending is a happily ever after and there is no cliffhanger. The couple works through the barrier of Jake's PTSD to find love and acceptance with each other.

"I'm yours to touch, taste, and love. I'm yours."

Hero - Jake Sanders: 3.5 stars
Heroine - Sophia Angés: 3.5 stars

Jake and Sophie’s love didn’t happen at the height of their individual best. It happened afterward, when life went ballistic, and it hit them square in the face before either of them realized it. By the time they figured out they meant more to each other than bed buddies, it was almost too late. Almost.

I like that neither Jake nor Sophie came into this relationship without their own problems. Neither was trying to fix the other. Neither was looking for a medal. Both were, it seemed, just trying to live life day to day. Burned by heartache and betrayal, I was surprised either of them were open to pursuing the attraction between them. Well, Jake wasn’t but that changed pretty quickly.

Jake and Sophie were definitely written for each other. Sophie’s unconditional acceptance of him was breathtaking in light of all he was going through with PTSD. The memories, flashbacks, instincts. Nothing he did or said concerning his PTSD made her rethink what she felt for him. *grins* It helped that she was pushy and bossy and relentless with him too. To me, her persistence is what helped move them from looks and touches to kisses and sex.

I loved how Jake took the time apart from Sophie (his fault) to at least figure out what he wanted from life. For the first time, he seemed to want something other than what he once had. He wanted Sophie. But he needed to get better first before he could finally admit what everyone else already knew: he loved her.

Ms. Rose did a great job writing not only about such an unlikely match, but the issues they brought with them and how they worked through them. Jake and Sophie probably could’ve been voted “Too Different to Ever Date Each Other” but those difference made them perfect for one another.

This is the romance of Gunnery Sergeant Jake Sanders and Sophie Agnes.

Jake is a war vet, he suffered injuries in Afghanistan and is dealing with PTSD. Jake returns injured from Afghanistan only to find that while he was gone his girlfriend (serious skank) cheated on him with her boss and even got engaged, add that to the trauma of everything he went through and he's barely holding on working at his brother's bar and grill. Since his return he's avoided any and all relationships with the opposite gender (aside from his mother); he doesn't want a girlfriend, he doesn't need one.

Sophie is a very talented ex-ballerina, she gave up dancing because she lost her passion for it and has now taken a job as accountant as the bar and grill where Jake works. Her first day is so funny, she walks in to her office, and Jake is passed out on the couch in nothing but his boxers. They immediately hit it off and she helps him nurse his hangover.

Jake and Sophie develop a friendship and eventually a physical relationship, but Jake freaks out when he begins to feel like he's gotten too involved and breaks it off. During their time apart they both try to work on themselves and deal with their issues.

What I didn't like about the book is that Sophie has major issues with her mom which according to the book she works on, except we see (read) none of this, so I felt it detracted from the character. Then we have the whole Jake and Sophie making up, WTH, he needed to grovel make it up to her after the way he broke up with her and then their subsequent conversations, plus they never even have a real first date. The characters stories needed a little bit more work and their romance needed more work, it felt more physical than anything.

I was drawn into this book from the beginning. Sophie is a woman who immediately fells a connection towards Jake. Who wouldn’t be after finding him half naked your office couch. Little does she know about the inner demons he struggles with daily.

While Sophie knows what she wants out of her relationship with Jake, she senses that he isn’t ready and is holding a piece of himself back. Jake realizes that he must conquer his fears if he wants to build a relationship with Sophie. It’s hard to read about a strong man, who is dealing with PTSD, after coming home from serving his country. I thought the author did a great job showing Jake’s internal struggle.

I’m glad he had the love and support from his family to help him succeed. Especially, his brother Dave, who doesn’t give up on Jake.
I enjoyed this book and felt that the author did a good job capturing the emotion turmoil between Jake and Sophie. I felt that there was a shift in the book and the author had to rush the ending. I would have liked an additional chapter or epilogue.

This was such a sweet story!! It was great to see Sophie know what she wants and try to fight for it while still being scared and it was nice to see Jake be too scared of what he deep down wanted for fear of not being able to protect and provide for Sophie. I like the interactions between Jake and Sophie from the beginning. Sophie had such a sweet yet feisty personality that did well going up against Jake and his back and forth emotions. I was happy that Sophie was able to patch things up with her parents and found some common ground to start repairing a relationship with them that she thought could never be. It was great to see that her perspective of her parents was based off a tragedy that forever changed them and that she did not fibnd out about until know. I loved Jake's parents and their easy banter. Overall, a great story! Can;t wait to read the next book and see what happens with Jake's brother!!!

Jake doesn't mind being naughty once in awhile, "it makes this so much naughtier." He brought his mouth to hers and let the eagerness he felt for her rule. "I'll never get tired of touching you, Sophie." Sophie I really loved her, she's not a pansy and won't back down from a challenge, "Sophie looked up at him and licked her lips, "I hope you're not a loud moaner." She released him from his restrictive boxers and slowly began to stroke him. "Wow, Jake." Also she's not a woman you want to scorn, "so, let me get this straight. I punched your ex and you got all hot and bothered about it. But now that we've had our roll in bed, you want to breakup?" And Jake can sure be an animal, "she picked up her shredded panties and tattered bra. "Gee, Jake. Did you leave me anything to wear?" This book was all sorts of fun and I loved reading every minute of it.

Seducing Mr. Right by Rebecca Rose is a military romance, which is an interesting genre since it can be taken in so many directions. In this case, the subject is PTSD, and returning back to life and love after a traumatic war experience. Sophie Agnés is a retired ballerina who wants nothing to do with dance, and has just been hired as the manager at the Hungry Lion Bar-n-Grill. On her first day at the job, she finds Jake Sanders, co-owner of the bar, and brother to Dave, the other co-owner, sleeping off a drunk night, nearly naked, on the office sofa. Read More

I've read other stories where someone has PTSD and it never fails to break my heart with what our very brave soldiers go through to protect our freedoms. There was a great romance included too. Boy, those ex's deserved everything they got. My only complaint was he keep hinting how it might have been a setup, but there was no real resolution to that point. Other than that, job well done.

I liked the teaser chapter for the next book. I was hoping it was going to be their HEA.

My thanks to that author, Rebecca Rose and Goodreads First Giveaway program for my copy of Seducing Mr. Right.

Sophia, the ex-ballerina and Jake, the ex-Marine Gunny with lots of baggage are an unlikely pair to fall in love. Jake is suffering from PTSD and Sophia is just the woman to help him face his issues and learn to move on with his live. It is not an easy path for these two but with love and understanding it makes a funny and touching love story. If you love military hero stories, this one is a good one!

This is the first book I read from Rebecca Rose and I loved it!!! I really enjoyed the sense of humor she used in Sophie's and Jake's love story. Every relationship has some issues to work through from the beginning, hers happened to be a
cheating ex-fiance and his ptsd. They had their happy moments and their unhappy moment. But their sense of humor made it so intereting for me to continue reading what would happen next. Looking forward to reading the story between Dave and Kathy now. :-) thanks for the free book giveaway Rebecca Rose.

Sophie is trying to find herself after a bad break-up. She comes from money, and her parents are a bit uppity.

Jake is trying to calm the voices in his head. PTSD has left him broken. He has many military awards, but he considers himself weak.

Through work, they meet. Jake makes it difficult to have a relationship. Will he see past himself to their future?

As a wife of a soldier who has PTSD, I have a hard time reading this. Dealing with the disorder is frustrating beyond belief. I do not think the author meant to be glib about it, but she did not capture the depth of the disorder. Quite frankly, after a few years of dealing with it, I have become frustrated. Therefore, I have no sympathy for Jake, and I think Sophie is plain stupid for setting herself for another failed relationship.

However, there is great sex in this book. That is another thing that is highly unrealistic about the book. Does anyone with a husband with PTSD still have good sex? Anyway, hopefully, readers are not quite as weathered as I am. The book is well-written. It is meant to be a quick, mindless, sexy read.

I just couldn't connect to the characters and found that after fifty pages, I wasn't interested in sticking around to see if it would grow on me. It's a bummer, because I'm all about dancer characters and wounded war hero characters, but these two just didn't make any sense to me. Instalust all over the place and clodding backstory references, inconsistent characterization, and curiously bright dialogue among people who've just met under inauspicious circumstances... But, really, I was irritated at the first scene between the two best friends wherein they discuss only the male characters. Sigh... It just isn't for me.

Seducing Mr. Right is a story of a war hero and his struggle to read just to civilian life and find a woman to love. When he least expects or thinks he wants to find a woman to love, it happens and makes a great love story for us romantics at heart.
