Lacy Weston-- or is it Campbell?, hell her husband took off so fast he may as well take his name with him-- is trying to run the historic family bed and breakfast out in the middle of the prairie while coping with her husband’s desertion, attempting to keep up with her two best friends and, oh yeah, the movie production that has landed in the middle of The Dove House, bringing former rodeo champion turned famous actor and Lacy’s old flame, Kyle McClintock, with it.
Kyle McClintock is back in Primrose to shoot his latest western blockbuster and to see if the passion he and Lacy Weston had so many years ago could be reclaimed. He may have had ulterior motives when requesting his hometown for the set but he may get more than he bargained for. Strange happenings, hot tempers and Indian summer nights may prove too much for this cowboy. Nobody ever said it was easy loving a Weston.
Krista makes her home in Nebraska with her husband, two daughters and basset hound where she loves to work in her yard, which adds to her vivid descriptions of settings in her novels. She has an online broadcast company where she interviews authors and talks about traversing the waters of indie publication. She has a vlog and podcast where she publishes her short works and jokes about relationships and pet peeves.
This first story in The Doves of Primrose series starts off with Lacy Weston. Lacy has had it pretty rough over the past eights years--heartbreak, loss, and humiliation. You would think with all that devastation that she would be locked away in her room hiding from the world in the safety of her bed. Nope! Instead she takes on the task of running her family's historic bed and breakfast and adds to her level of stress by allowing a film crew to take over the place in order to shoot a big western blockbuster. And did I mention that the lead male actor of the big western blockbuster is the man who broke her heart eight years ago? When you add Kyle McClintock into the picture poor Lacy's stress level pretty much goes through the roof. And as much as she tries to avoid Kyle, she soon finds that to be an impossible task. Close quarters and even closer working conditions lead to a trip down memory lane, secrets revealed, and a whole lotta crazy that I never expected.
One of the things I loved most about this book was Lacy's friendship with Emmylou and Scarlet. They have that deep, known each other since kindergarten kind of friendship. I loved how understanding they were and how they were ready to back each other up no matter what the situation was. And they had me cracking up on more than one occasion throughout the entire novel. One of my favorite scenes with the three of them is when they are all sitting on the front porch right after Lacy gets back from the pond with Kyle. I would LOVE to give you spoilers...but I won't. I'll just tell you that Emmylou is hilarious and she had me laughing out loud (earning me the "are you crazy" look from my hubby). Those characters were so well written and I can't wait for their stories to come out!
Now let's talk about the other thing I loved about this novel--Kyle McClintock. Oh Kyle. I just loved him. And I loved how determined he was to patch things over with Lacy. More than once I found myself saying, "Oh come on, Lacy! Just give in to the man already!" But I understand where she was coming from and why she did what she did. The two of them together also had me cracking up and Kyle even earned a few "Awww's" from me.
If you enjoy reading romances with that are fun, sweet, sexy, and have a little suspense/action then you should definitely check this one out!
I was provided a copy of this e-book by the author and Tasty Book Tours in exchange for an honest review. This book is about Lacy, a fiery heroine trying to keep her bed and breakfast afloat. Recently signing her divorce papers, she is attempting to learn how to get her life back together after her husband leaves her and runs off to Alaska.
The book starts out with the arrival of her first love, Kyle. He's a famous actor, and arrangements have been made for the entire cast and production crew to stay at the bed and breakfast for filming. She's agreed to this due to her financial need. She is going to make a lot of money from it.
Kyle is still crazy about her, and underneath it all, she's still crazy about him. A bad set of circumstances broke them up years before, one that Lacy feels is nearly impossible to overcome. The book had a whole lot of humor that I really enjoyed, thrown in with a lot of romance.
I really enjoyed the heroine in this book, and how spirited she was. Lacy is not the type of woman to take a lot of mouth off of anyone. When she gets angry, heads are going to roll. There were some parts I found so amusing I had to stop and laugh.
This book is a great romantic read, full of life, love, and laughter. I enjoyed how full the plot was. There was a lot going on within these pages! The Doves of Primrose: Lacy is a fun read that will warm your heart!
Lacy by Krista Kedrick is a fun and enjoyable read. Lacy has inherited the family home, dating back to the 1800's where it's rumored her great-great grandmother ran a bordello. While Lacy isn't sure if that rumor is true, she loves the grand house and is knee-deep in debt with the upkeep. A Hollywood producer contacts her about renting the rooms and filming a movie on her property. Needing the money, she accepts the offer and comes face-to-face with the love from her past, hunky movie star Kyle. Though they haven't seen each other in 8 years, the love they shared as teenagers still exists and longs to be rekindled. But Lacy and Kyle had an abrupt ending back then, with Lacy believing the worst of Kyle. Now that he's in her home, Lacy isn't so sure Kyle is to blame for their break-up. The evidence against him is circumstantial.
With her two best friends, an ex-husband, Kyle's uppity, rigid secretary and a demanding director, Lacy's temper and old-fashioned heart will keep you entertained through the action-packed ending.
What a great book! Lacy & Kyle, teenage lovers, she a misunderstood badass, he from the strict religious family. Together that summer they found solace, understanding & unspoken love. A few moments brought 8 years of anger, misunderstanding, until her cowboy walked back through her door an actor using her house for his latest film. Along with her two BFF, this story unfolds with each turning page, slowly putting together the past with the frustrations of a passion so deep that it cannot remain relinquished. The characters are strong, not one letting the story down & the sub story plots are brilliantly interwoven with the main story. I was disappointed with the weakness of the very end in contrast to rest of story so 4 instead of 5 star
