It's the opportunity of a lifetime for Tyler Bourne to compete in Olympic synchronized diving with veteran Aiden Oxford. The last thing he expects is to fall head over heels for his gorgeous partner. Friendly but distant, Aiden keeps him at arm's length, and Tyler knows his feelings are hopelessly one-sided. But as the Games begin, Tyler learns nothing is certain until the final dive.
Dear Author, I could look at him all day. But sometimes, when he thinks I’m not looking, he seems so sad…
This story was written as a part of the M/M Romance Group's "Love Has No Boundaries" event. Group members were asked to write a story prompt inspired by a photo of their choice. Authors of the group selected a photo and prompt that spoke to them and wrote a short story.
Keira aims for the perfect mix of character, plot, and heat in her M/M romances. She writes everything from swashbuckling pirates to heartwarming holiday escapism. Her fave tropes are enemies to lovers, age gaps, forced proximity, and passionate virgins. Although she loves delicious angst along the way, Keira guarantees happy endings!
Still love the structure, I really appreciate the effort the author made here to write such a great story.
Tyler Bourne and Aiden Oxford are competing in synchronized diving at the Olympics. Tyler has developed a serious crush on Aiden in the last six months during their training. But Aiden keeps him at arm’s length, so Tyler thinks his feelings are hopelessly one-sided.
The story has two separate storylines: one set in the present where Tyler and Aide are performing their dives at the Olympic Games, and one in the past, starting five days before the Games. The two storylines alternate back and forth, and entwine at the end. This parallel narrative creates an interesting structure to the story.
Tyler and Aiden are so sweet together. Nicely rising tension on the platform, teeny tiny speedos sticking like glue, and hot moments in the shower.
Warm, sexy, and affectionate story. Its only flaw is that it is too short. Highly recommended!
Twenty year old Tyler Bourne is on his first Olympic Games as diving partner of a more veteran, Aiden Oxford, after Aiden's long-time partner was caught on stereoid scandal. Tyler has a crush on Aiden but the older guy has been distant and doesn't have full faith on their chance at medal. So how can Tyler proves Aiden wrong on the latter while figuring out how to score a chance at Aiden's heart?

I really enjoyed this friends-to-lovers story. While I hoped that there was more scenes about Aiden and Tyler's road-to-partnership before the Olympics, for a short one it was pretty good
One thing I loved the most was the setting around the Olympic event. With Canada was the host *smile*. I liked how the story was written with scenes of each competitive diving event (I could picture them in my mind perfectly). The camaraderie between athletes (like the jokes thrown around in the bus) or the situation at Olympic Village ("British equestrians were such party animals!") were other examples that strengthen the "Olympic feels" to it.
After the exclusion of his old partner from every diving competition due to steroid abuse, Aiden is paired up with Tyler – the youngest in the team – to represent Canada at the Olympics. Tyler has the hots for Aiden since first seeing him, but he desperately tries to keep it professional. I loved the way the story was told: for every jump descried in the present, we get to read about an event that happened during the days before.
Synchronicity is a super sweet story and I would have loved to read more about these two sweeties! 5 stars!
It's a short read but I never felt connected, partly down to the way it's divided into different flashback sections (5days ago, 4days ago..). The story is in separate blocks and I didn't like the lack of flow. I also found the pacing felt rushed.
Took me awhile to separate Taylor from Aiden and they both sounded very young. There's a whole lot of dedication in becoming an athlete and I didn't quite get that vibe from these two.
While I understand patriotism and an author setting the story in a locale they know (Go Canada!), I have to admit that this close to the last Olympic games my own sense of patriotism was asking what the issue with Brit's hospitality was? and a little narkily muttering 1976.
A short light read, written in a style you'll either like or find off-putting, unfortunately for me it was the later.
I totally loved the prompt for this one. I always enjoy reading sports theme story only if they don’t get too technical. Keira didn’t overdo it with this shorty and both MCs are adorable! I loved the ending as well although I’m still yearning more from Aiden because the story was told through Tyler’s POV and it’d be fun to have a follow up and perhaps getting the gold in the next Olympics although Aiden’s pretty old here so a twist is in need if ever the author decided (for some reason) to ever come up with a follow up.
*****Re-read: liked it just as much as the first time. I especially liked the flashbacks between each of the Olympic dives that drew us in to the relationship between these two Canadian divers. (Wow, I kinda wrote the same thing the first time! At least I’m consistent, lol).
First review: Cute, sweet, short and filled with anticipation! I liked the two different timelines and the setting of the Olympics.
Mmmmmmmm yes sports fic made me happy. Short, sweet and incredibly sexy. I don't even need dessert tonight because that was like a delicious chocolate cake of a read.
3.5* Aiden is on his second Olympics, his first diving partner was caught cheating. His new partner Tyler is young and on his first Olympics, but he also really really likes Aiden. But Aiden doesn't really seem to like him very much, or does he? The picture prompt was gorgeous and I like the cover the author chose for her story. It's told in a very interesting fashion, with each day and dive. I loved the setting of the Olympics and the Olympic village, and of course all the dedication of the athletes.
I’m normally not a speedo fan. But every time the Summer Olympics roll around I tend to have a change of heart. :) Hello! Those guys know how to rock a speedo.
So this wet gem felt like diving into one of my Olympic dreams! Every skin on skin contact, look, and dip in the hot tub fed the sparks and tension. I’ll be daydreaming about Aiden and Tyler long after the Olympic torch has gone out.
When reading the story it felt like these two have just met. Training together for a while, but keeping professional distance. Yet a few days go by and they're already saying their i-love-you's.
It didn't make any sense. There's also no spice, a little bit of everything, that's it.
Anyone else obsessed with watching synchronized diving right now? Ever wonder if some of those guys in Speedos are secretly pining for their partner? Synchronicity is a short and sweet sports romance novella that takes that idea and runs with it. It's only 55 pages, but it's incredibly well-written and boy do I wish it were longer! Though it's not on KU, it's apparently always free on Amazon, so you have no excuse not to pick it up. Definitely try to fit this one in during Olympics season!
Tyler is a first time Olympian unexpectedly paired up with veteran Aiden, whose partner was banned for using steroids. The poor guy is secretly in love with him, though he's convinced Aiden is straight and would never return his feelings. Though they work well together, Aiden is grumpy and standoffish - until they start to open up to each other. And whew, their chemistry is STRONG. Though it's not super spicy, it's perfect for a shorter story. I love how earnest sweet Tyler is, and we slowly learn why exactly Aiden is so closed off. I'm definitely on the hunt for more swimming and diving recs, if you have any send them my way!
This is a sweet short story about two Olympic swimmers who find themselves attracted to their synchronized diving partner. They don't really rush into anything; they've been partners for 6 months and they waited until they were at the Olympics to act on their attraction. Not exactly the best timing since they need to concentrate on their game, but tension and pent up desire get the best of them.
I wish the story had been longer because I wanted to see what happened after the Olympics. Do they come out of the closet (not that the closet played any role at all in this story)? Do they ever compete in the Olympics again? I just wanted to see them down the road, you know? I went ahead and wrote more of their story in my head, and just so you know? They live happily ever after and I see them playing with a dog in the snow, laughing and having a good time. They do indeed go back to the Olympics and were the first official couple to dive together. I love my head - so many good things happen there, LOL. Funny though - I don't see them having kids. I see them as becoming coaches to the next generation of Olympians, and those are their surrogate kids. :-D
Overall though still a good short story that filled the space between reading longer novels.
Ay, qué pena que sea tan cortito porque ellos son REMONOS y mi mente sucia ya había evocado la consiguiente escena en la ducha con los speedos (y sin ellos) Muy mono *emoji sonriente y satisfecho* 3.5
