Of all three books in The Samantha Project, I really enjoyed reading A Chosen Destiny most of all. I think in part it was because there was more depth not only to the characters but the story. We were finally getting not just some answers but a lot of answers. Pieces of the puzzle that had been making us wondering who was good or bad, were finally put right into place. Which makes sense, for the final book in a series.
I’ve read quite a few series and A Chosen Destiny offers a satisfying conclusion to The Samantha Project. There are no real loose ends or questions left about who the main heroine will end up with. As a reader, did I agree with who Samantha chose? Yes and no. However, I felt satisfied with the ending and I wasn’t left disappointed.
Things I loved about A Chosen Destiny:
Twists and turns! I don’t want to spoil it but the pregnancy bit had me nervous. Television shows get ruined by pregnancies. I wasn’t sure how this book would handle it, but it was done perfectly.
We got to see more of Mr. Owens, who I had wanted to know more about in the second book. So yay!
I always cared deeply for Erik’s character and it’s great to see his character growth through the series. Same for Brittany. I felt these two characters developed the most. I know Samantha developed from beginning to end (especially in terms of Collin) but I really connected with Erik’s character. In fact, I would love a sequel staring Erik.
We really get to see Samantha and Erik’s abilities develop. The progression of the story makes completely sense too. As I was reading, there were certain things I didn’t see coming but later was like “Oh I should have connected the dots earlier!” So yeah, I’m impressed with the overall plot for both A Chosen Destiny and the series as a whole.
Ally! Oh come on, she deserves to be in the “I love” category. I don’t want to add any spoilers about why I love her, I just do.
Would I recommend A Chosen Destiny? Yes, but you have to read the entire series beginning with The Samantha Project to fully understand what you’re reading.
