The Way of the Phoenix: Tales and Teachings

Rate this book
"The Way of the Phoenix" is a companion volume to "The Gospel of the Phoenix." As the latter book explored the life of Jesus from a new perspective, this work uses the style of wisdom literature to offer insights into life, ethics and meaning. "The Way of the Phoenix" is divided into two sections. The first is a series of tales modeled after the parables of Jesus, the fables of Aesop, the stories of Hans Christian Andersen and others. The second is a series of teachings in the style of proverbs, sayings and aphorisms, grouped according to subject matter. All the material here is original, but the subjects are familiar. "The Way of the Phoenix" is a work in the tradition of Kahlil Gibran, Paul Coelho and others who have used the language of legend and fable to tell new stories based on timeless truths.

Common sense, redefined through wisdom.

"Serve Justice in accord with truth and conscience, not in accord with those lies of those who would reforge it in their own image."
Tales 5:10"

Having heard of The Gospel of the Phoenix and how well it was written, but not reading it as of yet myself, I was expecting a good read in The Way of the Phoenix. I was not, however, prepared for how much taken aback I would be in just the first few pages of the Prelude. Not only does it prepare a reader, such as myself, who might not be familiar with Stifyn’s work, but the insight it shows into how thing’s should be viewed by all is incredible. Being able to put such thoughts into words that can be understood by many all at once, is truly something I can not fathom being done in any better manner than this.

The layout makes the read comfortable for anyone. Whether you get sucked into a story and read for half the day (as I read in its entirety in one sitting), or are someone with a busy lifestyle that can only pick up a read here and there: you will never be left confused or wondering where the author is going. Mainly, I say this for not only how everything is presented, but also for how easily it grabbed me with the intuition behind every thought.

Encompassing everything from personal matters, to those of Society, the ‘All’, and the World/Life in general: both the ‘verses’ that are short quips in and of themselves, and stories enveloping a ‘chapter’, speak to a part of me that I wish more had the ability to do so. The information within this book, although stated as merely thoughts of a single author, I feel would become a great template for modern-day common sense; IF we were able get more people to open their minds in a rational manner. Until that happens, I can only hope that this message gets spread rapidly for the great wisdom it is.

I will, most certainly, be grabbing a copy of The Gospel of the Phoenix, as well as continuing back into reading this over again.
