Run and don't look back. I'll find you when it's safe.
Those were the last words Holly whispered to her six year old foster sister before the little girl fled into the trees and disappeared from existence.
Fifteen years later, Cassandra Ward is still missing.
Holly is haunted by the possibility that she sent her foster sister running from one monster and into the clutches of another. How else could a child vanish without a trace?
Determined to find her, Holly sifts through her own dark memories for clues, revisits her past, and chases a lead across the country with Jordan by her side. But the search for Cassie takes a dangerous turn when an altercation in the mountains leaves them stranded, cut off from the outside world, and running for their lives.
Jesus and laughter have brought C.C. Warrens through some very difficult times in life, and she weaves both into every story she writes, creating a world of breath-stealing intensity, laugh-out-loud humor, and a sparkle of hope. Writing has been a slowly blossoming dream inside her for most of her life until one day it spilled out onto the pages that would become her first published book.
Fabulous story of Holly and her friends. Holly and Jordan go looking for Cassie whom Holly hasn’t seen in many years. But they find themselves in a situation that is dangerous and impossible to escape. Ms.Warrens writes superbly, with unforgettable characters and a plot that is so intriguing you cannot stop turning pages. I do not know how she does it but humor creeps in even when circumstances are dire. The relationships between Holly, Marx, and Jordan are well developed and believable. There were some very tense moments when I wondered how Jordan and Holly were going to get out of their predicament. Warning: some trigger situations about abused women but Ms. Warrens brings hope through it all and shows the great faith of the main characters as opposed to a cult and false teaching. This story resonates truth and sill stay with you a long time. *I received a complimentary ecopy of this book from the author. I was not required to post a favorable review. All opinions are my own.*
Crossroads is book number five in the Holly series, although all of C. C. Warrens books are loosely connected. Her Holly series needs to be read in order.
I don't even know where to begin, but I think this one is my new favorite of the series 😍!! I have loved them all, but I was so much more invested and moved by this one than the other stories. It was sooo intense in parts. I was so worried about Holly! In the beginning, I couldn't see how she was going to find trouble, but boy did she 🤯🤯🤯
I loved seeing how Holly continues to thrive in her friendships and relationships. Her character growth has been authentic across the books while still being true to who she is. She has the biggest heart despite all the trauma she has endured. Her friendship with Jordan continues to grow in this book as well, especially as they find themselves stranded in a very dangerous situation in their hunt for Holly's foster sister, Cassie.
Crossroads will bring out all the feels at one point or another. There is some humor and witty banter that helps balance out the tension of the story. Faith is woven seamlessly throughout the story. I cannot recommend this story and series highly enough.
Trigger warnings: Holly has been severely abused and has major trauma from her childhood. C. C. Warrens has dealt with this in the best way possible. I would not normally read stuff with this kind of trauma, but I have devoured each book in the series (and will continue to). I don't want to miss a moment of this series. It is one of my all-time favorite series ever.
Thank you to the author for the opportunity to read this book. I was not required to provide a positive review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
This book is AMAZING!! The Holly Novels is MY FAVORITE SERIES EVER. Holly is a very relatable, yet unique protagonist with more problems than the marshmallows in her chocolate milk, yet she ALWAYS seems to find light in dark circumstances. She is definitely my favorite character in these books, but Marx and Jordan are also soooo cool and their care for Holly makes the book heart-warming and satisfying. The action in this book is thrilling and often I couldn't stop reading it because it was that epic! If you're a fan of Holly, her friends, and a well-written, fast-paced, incredible story, definitely check this book
My heart can’t handle the fact that I am now done with all the books in this incredible series – ALTHOUGH…I do believe more is to come. This has been one of the most FANTASTIC reading experiences ever. Trust me, they are all just so good that you’ll be wanting to shout about them from the mountain tops! Lol
In this book, Holly is in search of her long-lost foster sister, Cassie. This plot took a turn into territory that I had no idea was coming and it was riveting to say the least. I don’t want to say and spoil what kind of chaos these characters find themselves entangled in, but it’s such a wild ride. My jaw was on the floor and my heart was exploding with so many different emotions. One thing C.C. Warrens never fails to do is bring some of the most heart pounding moments of suspense. Her plots are unique and just crazy in the best of ways for a reader. The ending of this story literally brought tears to my eyes. The amount of healing and growth that Holly has experienced throughout this series is unmatched. The faith elements are strong and really; these books are going to change you and I can’t recommend them enough. If you enjoy binge reading, you aren’t going to want to sleep on these. I can’t express enough how badly I want you all to get these onto your TBR!
Thank you to C.C. Warrens for creating characters that feel like family - for writing intense Christian suspense novels that are full of faith, hope, love and don’t shy from deep diving into very difficult topics. Your writing skills are a true gift. Thank you for sharing it with the world.

Another home-run from C.C. Warrens! Fans of the Holly novels will be familiar with the characters and the history that shows up in this book. If you haven't read the other novels yet, I think you can probably still enjoy this one, but I would definitely recommend reading the authors other books before digging into this one in order to best appreciate the story-line. When Holly was in foster care, she told her foster sister Cassie to run away and she'd come for her when it was safe. Fifteen years later, it is finally safe and so Holly goes searching for Cassie, who is still missing after all this time. With Jordan by her side, Holly re-visits old memories and finds herself in trouble (as per usual) in her quest to find Cassie. And of course, things get dangerous for her once again as she looks in Cassie's last-known whereabouts.
I enjoyed this look into Holly as she is healing from past trauma, and what the travels down memory lane do to her. This book focused a lot more on her relationship with Jordan, which a lot of fans were clamoring for. Even I (who is not Jordan's biggest fan) enjoyed seeing their relational dynamic in this book for the most part. I enjoyed some of the other relational aspects in this one as well and how the relationships she's forging have gone deeper. I love how she is rebuilding her family of sorts with a hodge-podge of people who love her. This book felt more action-y than suspenseful to me, but it was still relatively intense and had me turning pages. The faith thread was solid in this one and the importance of knowing God's Word was a central theme. I enjoyed seeing Holly's relationships deepen and grow and enjoyed seeing how she was doing in therapy as well. It was very much like checking in with an old friend and having a thoroughly enjoyable visit catching up, even on the dramatic parts. All in all, this was a stellar novel, which I've come to expect from this author.
Special thanks to the author for an advance e-copy of this novel. I was under no obligation to provide a review and the thoughts contained herein are my own.
I’m now caught up on all the Holly books. Binged these in a matter of weeks upon the recommendation of my mother. This series has my heart and will be a lifelong favorite.
On top of being a shining example of the found family trope, this series has it all. An empathic hero. Loyal furry sidekicks. Thrills, chases, serial killers, eerie clues. It deals pretty deeply with trauma, and book three made me physically ill. But it’s so powerfully and graciously written. The violence is not gratuitous. It’s the emotional impact on the character that leaves you anxious and desperate for the resolution.
Totally recommend this series to all my mystery-thriller loving friends!
Now that Holly is free she want to find her foster sister who lived in the home where Collin hurt her. She finds her but she is in West Virginia and Jordan and Holly go to find her. There they run into a cult. At first they find it peaceful but there is more to meet the eye. When they lock up Jordan and want Holly to become a member they must do whatever it takes to try to escape. Will Holly find her sister and escape the cult. This book I think was my favorite of the whole Holly series. Loved the cult aspect of this book. Also it is bringing Holly and Jordan closer together. Now I am done with the books and need to wait for book 6 to come out!! I can't wait to the next installment!!!!!!
Another amazing novel by CC Warrens! I had pretty much every emotion throughout this book. I laughed. I cried. I screamed at Holly and Jordan about what to do and what not to do (they didn’t listen to me). CC Warrens has an amazing ability to draw you into the story and place you right there. Just when you think it is coming to an end, there seems to always be something else waiting. Holly is a remarkably strong person that has a huge heart for people despite what she has been through. I love the relationships that Holly has developed throughout this series. I highly recommend this book and any book by CC Warrens.
This book was great! Do you hear people talk about breath-taking books? Well, this book was exactly that because you could hardly breathe with how much danger the main character was in. Holly seems to go from one bad situation to another. The things I love about Holly is that she is brave, kind, loyal, and determined. Even though she had so many awful things happen to her while growing up, she still was able to show love and empathy towards others.
Crossroads is book five in the series, but the author leaves many background clues while telling the story. I knew what had happened and I didn't feel lost at all. I do want to go back and read the first four books. Also, C.C. Warens is such a great writer. I never lost my interest in the story and the pace is fast and never slows. There are many evil, bad guys in this story. Holly and her friend Jordan find themselves in very dangerous situations among threatening people. It was hard for them to figure out who to trust. Even at the point of total despair, Holly kept up her Faith and prayed for help from God. There were many things that made me stop and think but this quote near the end of the book really struck home.
“We can be bitter about what we’ve been through, or we can use it to help somebody else in a similar situation. He needed to know he’s not alone and that it’ll get better.”
Honestly, this book is a non-stop, fast-paced thrilling novel. There are shootouts, kidnappings, fistfights, and other nefarious things happening to characters but nothing graphic. The overall message though was about love and hope. Holly went through so much to find her foster sister, Cassie, and wouldn't give up searching. Even though it had been fifteen years since they'd seen each other, they still had a close bond. That was the most heartwarming part of the book. If you've never read any of the Holly books before, you should. There is a reason why most of the ratings for this book are five stars. It is a story that most readers will never forget.
Triggers: There is talk about previous abuse Holly had been subjected to in her life. She is still very traumatized from the torture she experienced in a foster home.
Last book in the series and I was not disappointed! round of applause for the amazing found family 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 This last story focuses on the FMC Holly finding her self kidnapped by a religious cult while trying to find her missing sister who she hasn't seen in 15 years.
Loved the epilogue and how everything tied nicely together not sure if the author is planning on adding another book to this series based off some key information about one of the bad guys but either way I enjoyed the series and it will stick with me for a long time I will recommend to every reader who loves a good mystery!
Wow! This series! I love the character development, the slow learning to trust that Holly experiences after so much trauma. This story featured a trip to West Virginia to try and locate Holly's foster sister. It was suspenseful! One day. Maybe right at spring ahead day light savings wasn't the best day to read it ;)
This is the first book in this series that I have read and after reading it, I think it would be good for me to read the other books in the series so I can know how Holly got to where she was. I did think the story was well written and it did grab your attention from the first page. This book was full of suspense and not knowing how the characters would get out of the situations they were in. I felt connected to the characters and really cared about what happened to them and if they would ever find Cassie. I also loved seeing how Holly and Jordan handled each of the situations that they got into and that they were there for each other. I definitely will be checking out the other books in the series.
I received a complimentary book from publishers, publicists, and or authors. A review was not required and all opinions and ideas expressed are my own.
Crossroads by C. C. Warrens is book five in A Holly Novel series. Having not read the rest of the series, I found it somewhat difficult to follow at times. The author does a wonderful job of giving background information so I could get the whole story. This story is fast paced with lots of action and suspense. Holly is on the search for her adoptive sister. After finding out her last location, Jordan takes her to find her. But all is not what they expect. The find themselves in community that is filled with danger and almost impossible to leave.
I enjoyed Holly’s character and the strength she has to deal with what she has had to live with. I enjoy how caring Marx and Jordan are to her and appreciate the insight the therapist gives her regarding her feelings towards Cassie. This is a fast paced story that is filled with action. It’s easy to see that Holly and Jordan are in a situation they don’t know who they can trust or believe. I did find the situation in the mountain community hard to read at times. This story has several topics that make it not appropriate for a younger reader.
I voluntarily received a complimentary copy of this story , this is my honest review.
More thrills and suspense, but Holly comes through better than ever, along with 'dad character' Marx, and long time friend Jordan. Well with the effort and time!
Wow, C.C. Warrens has done it again. I've been a fan of this author since I read her first Holly novel, Criss Cross, and have read every one since. This latest installment may be her best yet.
The characters are so real and genuine and have become like friends I care about. I loved the growth in Holly and Jordan's relationship in this novel, which brought some balance to the very serious subject matter addressed in this book. Be assured, Ms. Warrens deals with sensitive topics with gentleness and wisdom. I appreciate the faith elements in the story as well, which happen organically and not with a heavy hand.
The author left the door open for a book six, which I'll gladly read!
*Thanks to the author for an advance copy of this book. I was not required to provide a positive review, and all comments are my own opinion.
I have been eagerly wanting more of the Holly Novels. This story didn't disappoint me. You will need to read the other books in this series in order to understand the background of the characters in this story. Holly and Cassie were foster sisters when they were in foster care.. Fifteen years ago Holly told Cassie to run away and not to look back. Holly would find Cassie when it was safe. Now that it's safe, Holly starts looking for Cassie. Doing so requires Holly having to revisit old memories. Crossroads focuses on Jordan and Holly as they search for Cassie and end up in an unexpected and dangerous situation. C.C. Warrens added the right amount of action, danger, tense moments, and biblical truths along with humor in this story. I enjoyed the banter among the characters and the growth that Holly is making with her traumatic past and her relationships with those she considers her family are growing stronger. I received a complimentary copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I have loved this author's work since I discovered the first book in this series. This is the 5th Holly novel, and it does not disappoint.
One of the things I love about this series is the character growth and development. Holly has grown so much over the series. She still struggles with fear and trust, but she has come a long way.
I recommend reading the series in order, including the Seeking Justice series. It is the best way to experience how much Holly has grown.
Wow!!! I loved this book! I have said that about all of the Holly series, but it is true about every single one. This has to be one of my all time favorite series I’ve ever read! I cannot wait for more Holly adventures to come out. I’m going to miss her while I wait.
When I finished Crossroads I was speechless. If you know me you’d know that is saying a lot. I hate jumping into a series at the end, but I also feel like this can prove an author’s talent. If you can grab me without me knowing what’s going on in this world then you’ve got my attention. Well, Ms. C.C. Warrens...you got my attention.
Holly has escaped unimaginable abuse and is finally free of the monsters grasp for good but this freedom is bittersweet. All she can think of is finding the stepsister that she helped escape their foster house of horrors fifteen years ago. She promised that one day she would find her, and that time is now. What she doesn’t expect is the harrowing journey she embarks on to find her, and honestly neither did I.
There is a warning at the beginning of this novel and it’s obvious from the start as to why. This story starts out very dark and sad, and that sense of foreboding builds and builds the further you read. The narrative took a twisted turn, one that I wasn’t expecting whatsoever. It is a dark subject that always makes my skin crawl and my blood boil, and after everything Holly has been through it was tough to read yet I couldn’t stop myself.
The fact that Holly has been through the nightmares that she’s lived through and is refusing to live in fear is a testament to her strength. I know many women who can attest to the same and it never ceases to amaze and inspire me. Holly has a lot of people that love and protect her, which is also something I love seeing.
Without being overtly graphic, you witness violence and multiple forms of abuse that are either alluded to or observed. I appreciate that the author did not shy away from these topics, yet she still wasn’t meticulous in her depiction. Despite being a survivor of abuse myself I never once felt triggered with the subject matter. As I think back as to why the only conclusion I can come up with is that I was so engrossed in the narrative that I lost myself in that world, forgetting all about my own.
Trouble seems to follow Holly everywhere she goes. Despite her good intentions she seems to end up in the darkness, going from one bad situation to the next. I am starting this series at the end, but the author does a masterful job of tying in other obvious plot points from other novels in the series, making reading this novel as seamless as a standalone.
The faith of Holly herself is so inspirational. Even when the future seemed bleak, and there were some truly hopeless moments, she held onto her belief, not willing to give up her faith, or the search for her foster sister, no matter what the cost. A very, very powerful message resonates within her story.
Crossroads is a novel that will stick with me long after I put it down, and I am kicking myself for not reading this series sooner. With a powerful message and a heroine that you can’t help but love, Crossroads is hands down a must read.
*I have voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book which I received from the author/publisher through JustRead Tours. All views and opinions expressed are completely honest, and my own.
Holly and Jordan are on the case to find Holly's missing foster sister, Cassie. Cassie disappeared years ago when Holly sent her running away so that Collin couldn't hurt her anymore. Holly had promised to find her once it was safe. After a lead turns up, Holly returns to a familiar place and must confront ghosts from her past. Jordan is right by her side to help her heal and to find her long lost foster sister. As the clues of Cassie's whereabouts lead them across the country, they find themselves in danger once again. The place they had hoped to find Cassie may not be as it seems. Secrets lie beneath the surface and the more Holly and Jordan dig for the truth, the more danger they find themselves in. Will they find Cassie? Or are they following a dangerous trail that could cost them their lives?
This is the fifth book in the Holly Novels and I loved it! This story did not go the way I expected at all. It started one way and then went a completely different direction. But I loved the way it went and I am still very intrigued by the beginning of the book and what that could mean for future books. Holly and Jordan had to rely on each other and trust each other more than ever before because of their circumstances. I loved seeing their relationship take a step forward. The suspense was top notch and I couldn't put the book down from about 30% in all the way until the end. Holly was challenged in new ways where she had to confront her fears instead of running or hiding from them. She became stronger and was released from some of the strongholds in her life. I love how Jordan protected her but also trusted Holly to work things out herself. I wish there had been a bit more with the other characters but I completely understand why they weren't as involved given the storyline. I also enjoyed the faith element and how we need to be weary of false teaching and watch out for wolves in sheep's clothing. All in all, a fantastic read with lots of mystery, suspense, and character growth. It's another great addition to the Holly series and I cannot wait for the next one!
Thank you to C.C. Warrens for the advanced copy to review! All opinions expressed are my own.
I am absolutely in love with the Holly series. I was eagerly anticipating reading this newest book since I read Cross the Line last year. Crossroads did NOT disappoint. I mean, I finished it in 48 hours, would have been faster, but I guess taking care of the family is important. Now that Holly is safe, she is desperate to find her foster sister who was just six years old the last time she saw her, when she told her to run to save her from Collin, their abusive foster brother. As Holly and Jordan search for clues, we also learn more details from Holly’s past, sadly as Holly is reliving the trauma. As they get closer to learning the truth, they find themselves in danger again, up on a mountain, without any way to contact help. Will they find Cassie? Is she even still alive? Will both Holly and Jordan get out of there alive? And what in the world is going on in the town they find themselves in? Will the author continue to put Holly through trauma? If you are a fan of the Holly books, you sadly know the answer to that question. I loved seeing that Holly’s faith is strong and that she is leaning on the Lord. Which is quite important with what they go through. As with all the Holly books, you’ll find yourself on an emotional roller coaster. Lots of danger, and lots of Holly not always making smart decisions. And, I know I mentioned Holly and Jordan, but yes, don’t worry, there is plenty of Holly/Marx banter time. And Jordan/Marx tension time. Everything that makes these books AWESOME. Definitely another 5 star book, and one I highly recommend.
I received this book for free from the author as a part of the early reader team and was not required to write a favorable review. These are my own, honest thoughts.
What a amazing journey that you will take everytime you read one of C.C.Warrens books. I highly recommend reading the previous books in the series so you will have a better understanding of the background of Holly and the rest of the characters. This books starts you right on the edge of your seat trying to read faster than you truly can. Than Holly and Jordan take you on this page turning adventure into the Mountains. This is where she runs into the first of many obstacles. You will experience the emotions that is put into this book and learn the characters as if they are your friends. Me personally I did yell at Holly at times, cried with Holly, smiled and even did a happy dance when things worked in her favor. Even some parts scared me to death. The love and the trust that is developed is incredible and how its build into amazing friends and family. After reading this book and reflecting on it I have realized that what happens in this book, could happen to anyone. Honestly all of C.C.Warrens Holly novels are just that, even though they are fiction they are very well written as you can tell she does alot of research to make sure her facts are real and true. From Marx and Sam having a knowledge of police language while interacting with each other and other departments. To what the Mountains are like so you can really imagine being there. The point that this is a Christian fiction book you don't get the bad language, or the stretched out inappropriate scenes. It's a book you can recommend to anyone, from church or to your bestfriends and family. I did received a advance complimentary copy of this book but my review is completely from me and my true feeling of the author and this book.
I had my first anniversary of reading Holly books in August. I was hooked from the start. CC Warrens has the gift of blending suspense, humor and wonderful characterization into a delightful, can’t put it down book. Crossroads is no exception. When I first realized that this book wouldn’t have much of Marx in it, I was disappointed. The relationship between Holly and Marx is my favorite relationship in more than sixty years of reading. But the time alone between Jordan and Holly finally pulled me in, and I’ve come to love their relationship. I especially enjoyed their conversation about maybes in the future. If you’re not someone who is passionate about relationships, don’t let that cause you to hesitate to purchase Crossroads. It is a nail biter, edge of your seat read that will have you hiding your face and peeking back out because you can’t wait another second to find out what happens next. There were times when the tension was so high that I thought I might not be able to finish; but of course, there was no way I wasn’t going to finish. Just when I thought things were slowing toward the end, something else would pop up that had me sitting up straight again. But when the end arrived, almost all the good guys survived and almost all the bad guys got what they deserved. Well, except for one. But then, you never know when a bad guy might turn up in another book!
I was blessed to receive an advanced readers copy of this book, but all thoughts and opinions about this book are entirely mine.
Crossroads is book five in a series. Get the most out of the series by reading them in order. While you don’t have to I do recommend it! This is a suspense novel. And as I mentioned it is book five in a series. This series is the Holly series and really does need to be read in order. While you might be able to just grab this one and read it you in my opinion will be lost. The series follows after each other and the characters build on the other books.
In this book, we’re on the search for a missing child.
Years ago Holly sent her foster sister Cassie out on her own by telling her to run. She was trying to save her from a monster. But when no one has seen Cassie since that day did she send her into the clutches of another monster instead?
Join Holly on her search. It’s fraught with danger, suspense, and more! I loved it and cannot wait to see where the series takes me next!
As a slight warning, there is abuse in the story. Holly has been through a very tumultuous upbringing and through years of abuse. The author does a wonderful job with this but it is prevalent. But so is faith which seems to counter the bad.
I have voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from JustRead Publicity Tours. All views expressed are only my honest opinion. I was not required to write a positive review nor was I compensated in any other way. All opinions expressed are my own. I am disclosing this in accordance with the FTC regulations.
4.5 stars "Despite the warm May temperature, memories shivered through my bones - bones that had been bruised and broken under the roof of the two-story structure in front of me."
There were no good memories from that place, but Holly Cross was willing to brave a return if it meant establishing a re-connection with her foster sister. She and Cassie had been separated for half a lifetime, her last words to the small girl running through her memory; "Run and don't look back. I'll find you when it's safe". Tragically, fifteen years passed before Holly could feel a small modicum of safety.
Cassie's last known location sent Holly and her good friend Jordan to the mountains of West Virginia where they immediately met with trouble. Members of a remote religious community come to their aid, but without cell service or transportation Holly and Jordan find themselves at the mercy of the good Samaritans. Their gracious welcome quickly turns into something far more sinister; what exactly is going on at Shepherd's Ridge? More importantly, where is Cassie?
Consistent in style with previous books in the series, this story is replete with humor, helplessness, and the power of the Holy Spirit . . . . deepening the bond between author and reader . . . . . strengthening the tie between character and writer. . . . . energizing the commitment between God and reader. Who wouldn't want to read a book like that?!
When I got this book, I was ready for more of Holly and her gang. I truly feel they have become my friends and I want to know what is happening with them. I love reading about how the relationships between all the characters are developing. This story was full of action and suspense, with some fun relational moments mixed in. I love CC Warrens’ writings. She packs so much into her books and of course, Holly gets into the most interesting (and sometimes life-threatening) situations. In this book, there are some dark moments battling the evils of people mixed up in cults. It shows the strong pull cults can have on a soul. CC Warrens is a gifted author. One of the things I appreciate about her writing is that she’s not afraid to speak the truth. She wove moments of hope and life lessons throughout this book. Lessons like reaching out to God when it feels like things are out of control and out of our hands. God has got it all in His hands and timing. When it feels the darkest, He’s still there with us! If you love books that will keep you spellbound until the very end, then this is one for you! I highly recommend you pick this book up and read it. I was given this book by the publisher which did not influence my review in any way, all thoughts and opinions are my own.
Crossroads delivers all the suspense, emotion, and inspiration you can find in one book. This is another five plus, gold star winner in the Holly series. Absolutely one of the best books I’ve read.
Holly, Jordan, and Marx are bound together by circumstances surrounding Holly’s trauma. Now there may be someone new. The characters are richly portrayed, the emotions, raw and real. I love the relationship Holly has with both Marx, a father figure, and Jordan, a friend who could be so much more.
In her search for her foster sister Holly stumbles into much more than she expects. Lives are at stake, there’s danger around every corner. Her faith and Jordan’s presence are the only things keeping her going as she tries to escape Shepherd’s Ridge, a cult masquerading as a place of peace and freedom from sin.
This book is perfectly paced with well developed characters who you want to draw into your circle. The descriptions of life in a cult are eerily realistic, clearly showing the deception of the enemy, the plight of people drawn into these circumstances, and the need for absolute truth that comes from scripture.
I highly recommend this book. It’s perfectly satisfying in every way. I will continue to be fan of this series.
Crossroads is book 5 in the Holly series that is written by C.C. Warrens. I have not read the other books, and it did take me a few chapters to sort out Holly's past. I will warn you however, you will stay up late in the night reading - this book grabbed me from the first chapter and did not let go.
Holly wants to find her foster sister, Cassandra who ran away from the danger in their foster home. Holly has been through a lot in her life. Holly has wanted to find Cassandra for the past 15 years. They get a lead that she may have gone to Shepherd's Ridge, West Virginia. So Holly and Jordan venture off.
When they arrive they are immediately met with trouble and things are not what they seem to be. Holly wonders if it was all a false lead and that Cassandra may be lost forever.
This book had so many twists and turns. I stayed up into the night reading it. I will be going back and reading the series from the beginning so I can have an accurate view of Holly and her trauma.
Thank you to the author, publisher and JustRead Publicity Tours for allowing me to read a copy of this book - all thoughts are my own.
Holly has been in a world of hurt. Abuse and assault in a foster home. Loss of foster siblings. And yet, healing has come, slowly. Devoted friends. A cobbled-together family, made of those friends. But Holly can't forget the foster sister she lost when she was a a teen trying to protect her; the child she'd told to run from a life-threatening situation. The only problem? She never saw Cassandra again.
But now, Holly has healed enough to begin to look for Cassandra. At first, there is nothing. But then, little by little, tiny clues emerge. Holly and her best friend Jordan finally have a trail to follow, and maybe, a location. That's amazing. But when they get to West Virginia, will they be walking into a situation they'll never get out of?
C.C. Warrens writes compelling fiction full of interesting, yet vulnerable heroes and heroines: people who are broken yet absolutely committed to rescuing, saving, delivering, and doing what is right. All in the midst of dangerous, terrifying, un-put-down-able prose. Fantastic author, fantastic book!
I received a copy of the is book from the author. All opinions shared here are my own honest ones.
