Douglas Sands had no idea sinister forces dominated the world. The revelation nearly killed him, and being imbued drove him from his home, Iron Rapids. Now he returns with a new sense of purpose and the conviction to take a stand. However, he and his surviving companions find themselves in the middle of a struggle between undead monsters and the agents of an ultrasecret conspiracy who claim to have mankind's best interests at heart.
Kind of a flat ending to the series, I got the impression that the writers just wanted to be done with it. There were definitely some good parts, but overall, there were just too many plots to tie up in too little time.
I loved the whole series, even the mage book, which is the slowest. The final book was very entertaining in a dark and dense way. Loved the way the hunters' plot was resolved with a sense of hope mixed with despair.
