Scarlette is the one. Since she was a little girl, Scarlette has always been the one. It wasn’t all that special to begin with and now it’s just a nuisance. It means Scarlette is always on the run, trying to hide from supernaturals wanting to use her in their ritual. Most importantly, it means she’s never had a real relationship or ever really fallen in love. Until Aldric.
Aldric is a Guardian. For thousands of years Aldric upheld a sacred duty and never let anything come in the way. This time would be no different, or so he thought. When he entered the quaint bistro on Bourbon Street and she started singing, his duties vanished. All Aldric felt was desire, and a need to protect her. Suddenly Aldric was going against a thousand years of duties.
Is their love enough, or will secrets and sacred duties overcome?

When Eva Natsumi was in adolescence she was diagnosed with a rare and debilitating illness. She realized that she could never do anything the normal way, and that cultured a creative view of life.
She doesn't much care for genres. She writes what she wants to write. They're a little humorous, a lot dark, and mostly about twisted people.
She also suffers from a very serious sugar addiction. You would not want to get in the way of her and a cookie, cake, or anything brownie-related. It could get bloody.
If you are looking for a quick and steamy read(took me about 1.5-2 hrs) and like paranormal that is outside of the vampire/were realm then this book is for you!! A lot of times the immediate chemistry and "love" is hard for me to like because it just isn't believable, however, paranormal reads make it more believable. Hey, anything is possible in this genre. The characters were developed, as much as possible, and I always love fighting for love instead of fighting each other or against attraction. Download this read. I'm super excited for the next in the series! Recommended: for this genre--Yes! HEAT: 4.25/5 Re-read: before the next in the series
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I was first interested in this storyline when reading the synopsis. After receiving this, while first starting, I admit that I had to reread the beginning of the book to see if I had missed some of the plot prior to the first sex scene. Ms. Natsumi writes HOT sexplay, and I really enjoyed the path she was directing this book to go to, but I felt almost as if I stumbled onto the middle of the adventure, rather than starting it with Scarlette. I think that if we had a bit more information to go on, my rating would also increase, but maybe that's why this is the #1 book, so that future books could further flesh out world that Scarlette and Aldric live in?!
I received a copy from the author for my honest review, so here it is. This is a really good story but too short. It took less than two hours to read but worth it. Scarlette is the secret to saving the universe and the Guardians will always track her down for some kind of ritual. While at work she sees a gorgeous man standing in the shadows but can tell he is hot. What she doesn't realize is, that he is a guardian and is there for her. But is he there for what she thinks? Aldric is drawn to her and wants to keep her for himself and love her forever. But what will happen to them when the rest of the Guardians show up. If you like paranormal romance, than this one is for you. This is the first for me by Eva Natsumi and I can't wait for the next one.
This is the first book I've read from Eva Natsumi. It started out with promise, but I quickly lost interest. There wasn't enough storyline and action to keep me into it. The heroine is a human with qualities that Supernaturals want. So she is frequently kidnapped for rituals. Aldrich is an ageless Guardian who sees her one night and has to have her. The buildup is quick and steamy. They are intimate almost before they know each others names. There is lots of hot steamy moments but they don't take away from the fact that it lacks details and left me with questions. There were some errors that some good editing could fix. Missing words etc. A quick read and entertaining if not looking for more than a roll in the hay
Scarlette is a tough character who falls into the hands of an alluring man. Things get pretty steamy very quickly and never to seem to let up until the end. The paranormal aspect was also interesting. I found aspects of the story unexplained fully which left the feeling, there could have been more to keep my attention the duration of the story. The characters have an intense affair for those looking for a quick steamy read. 2.5 stars
A quick read, the beginning felt a bit detached, but it soon read smoother. Scarlette is used to Supernaturals abducting her for rituals, but this time it feels different, she´s drawn to Aldric and can´t resist him. Aldric was just supposed to bring Scarlette to the others, but there´s something more between them. Smutty fluff, action and suspense. Great start and made me want more.
