In Hollywood's glitzy epicenter, a captivating young actress's life ends horrifically at the hands of a brutal serial killer. Eddie Ankin, a grizzled ex-Marine turned stuntman, finds himself ensnared in the accusatory spotlight, wrongfully identified as the perpetrator. Determined to clear his name, Eddie must employ his stuntman audacity and keen intellect to hunt down the actual fiend.
Enter Detective Kim Mallory, a bright yet inexperienced cyber cop, steps into this tangled narrative. More adept at tracking online adversaries than grappling with real-world villains, she holds an intriguing hypothesis about the chilling murders. Her skeptical captain, however, dismisses her theory, sidelining her to a minor social media blackmail case.
Not to be deterred, Mallory orchestrates a covert alliance with Eddie—their mutual shot at vindication. This improbable duo launches into a heart-stopping, time-bound chase, battling formidable challenges—a relentless LAPD, a menacing Russian mafia aiming to silence any connections to the murders, and a blackmail deadline creeping closer.
Their survival rests on the fragile foundation of trust, a rare commodity in the perilous maze they must navigate. Their high-stakes journey cuts across the dazzling excesses of Hollywood, the affluent neighborhoods of Southern California, down to San Fernando Valley's grimy depths.
'The Double' is a captivating, action-drenched odyssey echoing the genius of Don Winslow and Robert Crais. It promises an experience as gripping as a high-speed, heart-in-your-mouth blockbuster movie.
Jeremy Elice is a Hollywood producer turned screenwriter and author responsible for producing the hit television shows Breaking Bad, The Walking Dead, Mad Men, Hell on Wheels, Rubicon, The Killing and the mini-series Tut starring Ben Kingsley.
Known for writing compelling characters and high-octane action scenes, his newest novel, The Double (July 2023), introduces ex-Marine turned Hollywood stuntman, "Eddie Ankin," who joins the ranks of resourceful and kick-ass crime fighters readers love like Jack Reacher, John Corey, and Cliff Booth.
His first novel is the psychological thriller, The Strange Crimes of Beatrice Clover, which has been described as a page-turner with a twist ending you won't see coming.
Whether it's books, TV series, or movies, Jeremy loves a good story. When not spending hours alone in his basement talking out loud to himself in strange voices like a madman (aka writing), he runs his production company, Elice Island Entertainment, looking for the next groundbreaking hit.
Most of all, he loves spending time at home in NY with his wife, three kids, and a terrier named Dexter (yes, after the tv show), reading or watching something that moves him.
This needs to be a movie, Elice!! I’m so proud of you, I LOVED IT. Great insider knowledge without abandoning the “regular people” out there. And loved the Long Island Easter Eggs in there, represent!!! Congratulations.
Good story and interesting characters. I wish I would have read the book instead of listening to the audiobook because it was a ai narrator that kept saying things like “Louisiana” instead of “L.A.”. Other than that, I enjoyed it and would definitely read more from the author.
