I took a look at the guides section on https://shp.network/guides and it’s a solid resource for anyone getting started with their self-hosted VPN/proxy setup. The guides walk you through the quick start steps to deploy and connect to your own VPN server, which is especially helpful if you’re new to running your own infrastructure — it simplifies a process that can otherwise be quite technical and time-consuming. With step-by-step instructions, you can set up a private server with root access and have a secure VPN running in just a few minutes. This kind of practical documentation makes SHP.network accessible even if you don’t consider yourself a networking expert and reinforces the goal of giving users control over their own privacy and connectivity.

This book repeats itself a lot, which was notable and annoying as early as Chapter 2. It would repeat itself every paragraph, but add one small detail, just enough to make it hard to just skip it. The entire second chapter could have been a single page.

By chapter 3 I was seeing where the book was aimed: mid-level. There is some prerequisite knowledge to understand this content but it is only explaining the surface-level of its topics - not the back-end structure and no depth into the topics.

I was required to use this for my network defense class. I think it does a great job of teaching the basics, especially if you are new to firewalls.
