For fans of Fifty Shades of Grey, a New Adult series by best selling author Tawny Taylor. Billionaire Shane Trant is used to getting what he wants. What he can't buy, he takes. When he sees Bristol Deatrich for the first time in over ten years, he knows he wants her. But there's a problem. Only complete possession of her mind and body will satisfy him. He's not sure the sweet little Bristol is ready for his brand of extreme carnal play. But that's not going to stop him from trying. After all, he learned a long time ago, nobody wins if they don't take risks. If this risk pays off, they'll both win.
Nothing exciting happens in Tawny Taylor's life, unless you count giving the cat a flea dip--a cat can make some fascinating sounds when immersed chin-deep in insecticide--or chasing after a houseful of upchucking kids during flu season. She doesn't travel the world or employ a staff of personal servants. She's not even built like a runway model. She's just your run-of-the-mill, pleasantly plump Detroit suburban mom and wife.
This series is being marketed as a NA series. Whether it's New Adult or Contemporary Erotic Romance (it's actually both). it's mainly a mess. I think I've developed a new rating for books like these: DNR. Do Not Resuscitate works just as well as Do Not Read.
DNR for the absolutely over the top behavior of the hero and the heroine's best friend. DNR for the ending...what ending? DNR for the creepiness factor: The heroine was 12 when she met the hero, who is, I think, something like 20 years her senior. I can be only thankful that he never went all Maurice Chevalier about her.
This book has left me so frustrated - it broke the cardinal rule of writing - don't end the series having not wrapped up all necessary loose ends.
Here are the remaining questions left unanswered having just finished the series (there's 10 listed):
It's too bad cause this book really did have promise but seemed like it needed 2 more sequels to get into the nitty gritty details of what makes a series memorable. I'd say rookie mistake but think this author has been around a while. To have read this far and have it end like that...must step away from computer....
This although a good set of short stories had so many tidbits of other stories mixed in. The base story line was so dang close to 50 shades with mixes of Bared to You and others. I will say I enjoyed reading it, but that was about as far as I'd go. There were so many unanswered questions and things I couldn't stand. Jill, couldn't stand her...she was no friend at all...just some uppity woman who thought she knew everything and was constantly thinking about herself. Who wants a friend constantly making you second guess yourself, leaving you at bars, etc. I would have cut her out of my life if I had a friend like that. Then Bristol and Shane's relationship omg....issues. I'm thinking how can you marry someone when you don't know if they are gonna leave you one day over something so stupid or if they are even gonna come back. There are so many questions left unanswered.

Overview
Billionaire Shane Trant is used to getting what he wants. What he can’t buy, he takes. When he sees Bristol Deatrich for the first time in over ten years, he knows he wants her. But there’s a problem. Only complete possession of her mind and body will satisfy him. He’s not sure the sweet little Bristol is ready for his brand of extreme carnal play.
Seduced into a new “relationship” with the domineering billionaire Shane Trant, Bristol Deatrich is just beginning to learn the dos and don’ts of being a submissive.
Do: please your master.
Don’t: forget that it’s all a game, only a game. Submission has nothing to do with love.
For her first full weekend with her new dom, she’s flown to paradise. But quickly she learns paradise isn’t all it seems…and neither is the enigmatic man who’d brought her there.
As the old saying goes, all that glitters is not gold.
Domineering billionaire Shane Trant has Bristol Deatrich right where he wants her--back in his life and back in his bed. But Bristol is still reluctant to completely trust him. Their new relationship has been rocky from the start, and she’s still very new to the world of erotic domination and submission. She’s afraid a little rope burn is nothing compared to the pain she may suffer at his hands. This powerful thing between them will either make her better, stronger, or destroy her.
And now, making matters worse, outside forces are trying to pull them apart...
I need her. More than my next breath. More than life itself. I never wanted to need someone.
How did this happen? How did she break through my defenses?
A few short weeks. She’s been the center of my life for that long. Only that long. And yet in that short time she has turned my world on its side. Everything is different now.
Different and better.
Different and worse.
I can’t eat. I can’t sleep. I can’t work. I can’t do anything without thinking about her, wondering what she’s doing, aching to touch her, to hear her sweet voice. In just a few weeks she has become the center of my universe.
When I lose her--and I know I will because there isn’t a single person or thing I’ve loved that I haven’t lost--I will be destroyed. My Thoughts
i'm always a fan of discovering a series of novellas when most or all of them are published and that's what i've stumbled upon here. I can't say that i was blown away - i mean it was an average story with some average writing, but at least it kept my interest for about a day so that i could get through it all.
This four installment series introduces us to Bristol at a time that she's maybe not in the best place. She's financially strapped since she's been paying the mortgage not only on her own home but on her childhood home as well since her mother passed away and she was trying to hold onto it. When the story opens up, we see Bristol locking up the house possibly after showing it to potential buyers when a man pulls up and seems interested in the home. What she doesn't realize at first of course is that she already knows this man. it's Shane - the man of her first crush and one of her mother's closest friends.
Shane has become overwhelmingly successful over the years, enough so that he has turned his father's small business into a billion dollar empire and he exudes not only the wealth but the power and heat that comes with that level of achievement. Bristol finds herself drawn to him for any number of reasons now, not only because of her past crush on him.
What she finds though is that the attraction is reciprocated and this starts a whole entirely different level of compromise. She learns that Shane is of a different lifestyle and has a darker past - a much more complicated past. Through the series of installments here, we see the struggles that both have to go through to see if they are even willing and able to make it work. We're taken on a roller coaster where people continue to get in the way of what they are working for and quite a few occurrences that lead to the demise of their relationship.
While i'm intrigued by where this story could take us, i feel like there were a bunch of places where it just fell a bit short. I feel like based on other series that i've read where things are really pushed just a little bit further than where we're comfortable, that doesn't really happen here. It's a 'safe' version of a story in this genre and that's not a bad thing persay - maybe a good thing for someone who's trying to ease their way into the category to see if they'll enjoy it.
What i'd hope for is a bit more of development around the characters - we keep getting glimpses and hints into some of the darkness that surrounds Shane but he's always able to talk his way out of things and we never really get any back story. with Bristol too, things seem like they are 'just status quo' for her and i kept wishing that i would get something 'more' from her character as well.
I also feel like certain instances throughout the series were tied up nice and clean and very quickly when in other series they would have been more dynamic and drawn out - more suspenseful. i don't know if it's my high expectations or what - but while i enjoyed it, i don't think that it's anything more than average. Sorry for you folks that may enjoy it - i'm open to having my opinion changed :)
This box set was a bargain and I'm glad I waited to get the whole series in a set than individually.
Shane and Bristol were both battling with their feelings for each other throughout most of this story. Bristol had a very good relationship with her friend Jill although, at times, I think Jill was jealous of Shane and Bristol.
The story flowed nicely through the books however, I only gave it 4 stars because I felt a lot of the sexy bits were repetitive. I also felt that I couldn't picture Shane in my head and usually I have a very clear picture of the alpha male.
All in all a very enjoyable series that I would recommend.
Shane met Bristol after 10 years . They embarked on a strange affair although the attraction is mutual, Bristol questions some basic principles between lovers. Jill is the rock for Bristol and as her friend she supports and counsels her. Shane is in love and he goes to extreme to prove Bristol of his sincerity. Some of his past catches up with his present plans. He is honest when questioned by Bristol. A beautiful ending as they stepped back in the renovated house and Shane offers an engagement ring as a promise of wedding and building a family.
Jill is a bit of a busy body and seems to insert herself in to Bristol's life with no care or concern for how she feels or what she wants. I can understand being a friend but she really didn't seem like the kind of friend I would want.
It was a quick and rushed ending. They were fighting and Bristol was wrestling with Shane's secrets, and then they are back together and engaged. It just seemed rushed and not quite complete. Overall, I really enjoyed it and would be interested in reading more of her stories.
I picked up this book because of rave reviews. Not only are some people comparing it to 50 Shades of Grey but they said it far far better. Oh holy crap was I disappointed when I started reading it. To me this book is a short story version of 50 Shades but sorta creepy and with an odd plot ending. The two lover meet for the first time when she was 12 and he was in his 30's. Kinda gross-ish. And the storyline seems to follow just like 50 shades. Only a few changes. I felt like I was reading a lesser version of it.
I enjoyed this boxed set. its a little 50 shades but different and good in its own right. shane and Bristol were great characters. they knew each other previously but never on an intimate level until now but Bristol wants more and so shane has to make a decision down the road. I would recommend everyone that's into erotic romance read this.
This was four good short novella's.. There was a few un-answer questions in this book, like what happened to his partner that he shared women with. What about his wife from another country. What about her friend Jill, did she fall for the brother. I think it ended a little to soon but there was a HEA at least.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Good book straight to the point (short) but is the STORY LINE like '50 Shades of Grey',sure; is it as good as 50 Shades?? absolutely not! A little disappointed but overall a decent book.
Not a bad series just really short and you don't really get much out of the characters besides they like to have sex with each other. The forth one is my favorite in this one, you see something take root with them and you want them to make it.
this needs to continue, this story has everything. flaws,love,sex,friendship,dating,high-ranking, mixed feelings about dating. this love story is one I can read over and over again. hoping for a sequel or continuation of this story. can't wait.
Unless finished. I hate boo k s like this. What I don't understand about books like this is why e could I look for the next part of this book when there are great critters with comp loo tee books that I can read
It was a great series though I found a few editing mistakes or the authors where she contradicted herself on the 3 different storylines ...... Other than the obvious mistakes it's a great read
