OMG! I was not expecting this book😭😅😎🥺😯😲😳🤫👽👽👽 A thank you to the Author Olivia and Booksprout for the ARC I needed to read this book to restore my faith that people still have imagination and the ability to bring some originality to writing
The story really took me by surprise I was not ready to be fully engaged in this well-written and strange world
Seventeen-year-old Liam finds himself the survival of a tragic accident that took his father and left him severely scarred. He is bitter and angry at the world. His so-called friends turn on or abandon him leaving him battling his demons alone.
His anger issue leads him inside an institute for troubled teens. However, secrets are revealed and strange events happen when abnormal activities start happening and Liam meets three supernatural beings.
New dark paths start unveiling to Liam leaving him with tough choices
This book can be read and enjoyed solely for its fantasy aspect. It is a kind of a portal fantasy. But it is also a book about self-discovery and how our choices shape our lives.
I really enjoyed reading this. It was strange and new. I cannot go into details of the story so as not to spoil it, but I highly recommend it and definitely going to continue reading the series.
I went into this book a little blind. I only got a snip of what it was about before I opened this book. I couldn’t put it down though. It was to good. I will say that I can not handle the ending. I needed more. It felt like I was being pulled off a cliff. Now I have to wait to see what will come next. The main characters are heart breaking to deal with. I felt so bad for the pain that they are dealing with. Though I feel like there is just something missing. Like there is a missing detail that will be in the second book that will complete the whole story. I think it is one emotional gut clenching moments in this book. The fear of what will happen next. Then the twist of fate. What will be able to fix the dark? I just don’t know what will come next and it kills me.
This book is able to draw emotions from you from the start. I can’t even express how bad I wanted to fast forward in this book and hope for a good ending. I feel like this was a roller coaster ride that I was not properly strapped in for. The next book will for sure need more of the dirty details that were left out in this book. This one is a fast action book. It’s none stop with what is going on. It does leave you wanting but it also shows a different side of darkness in the world. The aspect of outer world being that are out there is a really cool twist.
I really liked this book that starts out as the typical teenage angst of pressure causing issues do to a horrid year when it takes a turn into the weird and crazy that left me with questions. Made me have to read it to figure out what was going on really and how everyone fit in. Mysteries upon mysteries that made me think one thing and then change my mind. A well written story that kept me glued to the end and entertained at the same time. Good characters and made me both feel for Liam and want to slap him at same time. Loved it.
This read had many twists and turns, very captivating. The story is of a young 17 year old boy who has faced more life challenges than one should at his age. It was a joy to face his realities and make some hard choices. Which side would I choose? I haven't decided yet. Looking forward to the second in the series .
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Wow this novel was certainly a surprise for me … I definitely didn’t expect the storyline to go in that direction. Liam has had a lot to deal with in his very short lifespan.
There are plenty of twists and turns along this journey .. heaps of teenage angst … as well as decisions that need to be made … which is the correct choice?
I hope that the next book in this series answers some of my unresolved questions ….
I really thought this was an incredible adventure. Who ever thought of guardian aliens instead of everyone’s perception of angels? Liam makes an incredible character with so many facets and he finally gets to express himself with Stella. Throw Kiira into the mix and I can’t wait to see what happens next!.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I went into this book believing it to be a dark fantasy. It really felt more like a sci-fi novel rather than fantasy. It was an interesting story as sci-fi tends to be with the strange and unusual but it was an enjoyable book.
Oh now I can’t wait to read the rest of the Darkside Chronicles, a very refreshing book one. This book is for sure the type of books I like to read, aliens and Alberta aka Darkside.
This would probably have been a good book if it had a copy editor, or even been run through the grammar and spelling checker on your computer! How hard is that! Sooo many mistakes I just can’t finish. I’m sorry, I did try to like this, I really did.
