I cannot get enough of Ms. Robson's Weird Girls. I'll say it again and again, I love her work and it's one series I recommend for any PNR readers.
Bren, Dan and Ceel made me grin like an idiot while I read this book....

Something very wrong is happening in Tahoe. Paranormal beings are showing up and showing a lot of interest in Celia. Bren and Celia will have to work together to battle ghosts and ghouls. It was great seeing them in action, and I enjoyed seeing them express their feelings for each other, in a familial way of course. His relationship with Celia, her sisters and Danny was showcased, as well as his past. We find out the reasons why he does not belong to a pack and why he refuses to be a part of Aric’s pack.
If you read the last book, you’ll know that hell broke loose and Aric crushed Celia’s heart. I have always been a Misha fan, and after reading the last book, Aric definitely became my least fave character in this series. However, after reading this novella, my heart softened for him…a little. I guess I understood a bit more of his side of the story, and I guess, I sort of understand his sitch. But still, up to this point of the series, I am still Team Misha.
Bren, Dan and Ceel made me grin like an idiot while I read this book. Their banter, jokes and daily interaction was just laugh-out-loud funny. Though the story focuses on Bren and his smart mouth, we also got a good amount of Danny. I knew he was pertinent to the sisters, and after reading this book, I can predict that he will have such an impact the series itself. Ms. Mancuso, of course had to have her cameo. Her foul mouth and dirty finger also had me LOL. I can’t wait to see what Ms. Robson has planned for her. I’m thinking in one of the future books; she’ll end up being the devils wife or of the sort. =D
Despite the fact that this is a short story, it had a full length novel feel to it. I enjoyed every bit of this novel as much as the past books. I cannot get enough of Ms. Robson’s Weird Girls. I’ll say it again and again; I love her work, and this is one series I recommend to any PNR or UF readers.

Buddy read with Amanda
I'm a huge fan of Cecy Robson's Weird Girls series and I can't tell you how excited I was to find out that she would be writing a story from the point of view of werewolf Bren. Bren is a lone wolf who has been friends with the Wird sisters for years, he thinks of them as his pack and is like a protective older brother to them. The last thing he wants to do is join Aric's pack but if that's what he has to do to keep the sisters safe then he'll make the sacrifice. After the way Aric has treated Celia though Bren is holding a grudge and he's determined to make Aric pay.
I've always liked Bren so it was great to have this chance to get to know him better. I'm not sure why but I'd assumed that he would find love in this story so I was a little surprised that there was no romance but if I'm honest I think I enjoyed the story more because the focus was on his relationship with Celia and on him trying to find a place for himself within the pack. I loved how protective he is towards all of the sisters but especially the way he deliberately pushes Aric's buttons to get back at him for hurting Celia. Bren's cocky attitude gets him in trouble but you can tell he only acts that way because he cares so much about his friends and he hates to see Celia in so much pain. I'm still mad at Aric myself for the way he behaved in the last book so I enjoyed seeing him get some payback.
A Cursed Moon contains a nice amount of action and we get to see Bren and Celia work together against a dangerous enemy that puts not just their lives at risk. I was completely shocked by the turn of events towards the end of the story and can't wait to see how that effects the dynamics among their little group in the next book. Fans of the series are going to love this story but it will definitely contain spoilers if you're new to the series so I wouldn't recommend it as a starting point. I quickly fell in love with this series though so it's one I will happily keep recommending to urban fantasy fans.

Bren is the big brother the Wird sisters always needed and will never be without. All throughout the series, we only get snippets of an obnoxious, womanizing, and definitely “cocky” Bren. Today, Cecy Robson has given us the gift of knowing the real Bren and why he acts the way he does in her novella, A Cursed Moon.
I’ve got to tell you, in my opinion, fans of this series MUST read this novella before the next book in the series, Cursed by Destiny. This isn’t your ordinary “filler” novella. There are major happenings going on in only 98 pages.
We start out with a glimpse into the world of our favorite “Odd Couple”, Bren and Dan. Oscar has nothing on Bren’s dating, laundry, and eating habits – he’s all lone wolf. Bren is making crazy bets with Dan involving french maid costumes while running out the door late to the Pack Den where he’s been reluctantly recruited to help train the students. One thing leads to another and by the end of the chapter Bren ends up unconscious at the Pack’s Den with a note from Aric stapled to his forehead. Want to know how that happened and what the note said? READ THE STORY!!!
Actually, the story is about hostile spirits rising and attacking humans around the Tahoe area. The Wolves are fighting these spirits the best they can but when Celia and Bren run into a really nasty spirit, they end up working together to save someone they mutually care about.
I would say almost all (if not exactly all) of the regular characters, including mean, crotchety old Mrs. Mancuso (bless her nasty soul) are in this novella. What I enjoyed the most was seeing the characters through Bren’s eyes (the story is written from his POV). You learn so much about Bren from his interactions with other characters, not just from a huge dialogue he has Celia, but from his little chat with Emme and the thoughtful conversation he has with Aric.
There was just so much to soak up from these measly 98 pages! I would be remiss if I forgot to mention that there might be a teeny, tiny lead-in to Cursed by Destiny at the end of the story, as well as a sneak peek.
But this novella was all Bren. I could read and re-read this story over and over and over again and still smile over the silliness (and love) that is Bren. I see so many possibilities for Bren’s future that my secret wish (or not so secret now) is that we get another novella written from Bren’s POV.

I love this series, so of course, I was happy to discover that a novella would be published. And what a better way than to follow Bren in this novel. You know the lone werewolf who was a friend with our sisters for a long time. I admit that I was immediately intrigued, and it is always interesting to see how the author was able to write a story from the point of view of another character, mainly this one.
Bren is therefore as I said, now part of the Aric’s pack. This is something he actually did to help the sisters who are part of his family. Yet he has trouble with authority, especially when it comes to Aric, the man who broke the Celia’s heart, and he does not hesitate to remind him that fact. We thus find throughout the story these three characters for a small explosive story. Yes, because it must be said, we have this time ghosts and spirits, and I admit that I was immediately intrigued. But they are far from some innocent spectra encountered in many books. Oh no, they can interact with humans. And Bren and Celia will have to team up to face them and destroy them if possible.
I took great pleasure in discovering a little more about Bren because we knew very little about his life. We learn the reason for his lone wolf condition, something which I did not expect at all. He had a pretty terrible life and we can only hope for him beautiful things for the future. One more reason to read the next books! But we also discover the consequences of the separation between Celia and Aric and it is true that it is quite sad to see them both in this way when we see how the two deeply appreciate each other. The plot about the ghosts was also really well done and I was curious to see how everything was going to be solved, I confess.
The fans of the series will be conquered. I had a great time with this little novella. It’s a complete story that does not leave us with a sense of lack. We can read it very quickly and it prepares us for a third volume that we can only be impatient to read. If you do not know the series, I ‘m sure the sisters will convince you to start it.

A Cursed Moon is the first novella in the Weird Girls series and I hope that there will be a few more looking into the lives of Emme, Taran, and especially Shayna whose life was changed in A Cursed Embrace.
A Cursed Moon is told from the POV of Bren, who is the older brother the Wird sisters never had. Being an lone wolf has worked out for Bren until this point, but, since he is protective of Celia, Taran, Emme, and Shayna, he joined Aric's pack and lost a bit of his independence. In return, Bren has agreed to join in the fight against the Tribe.
A Cursed Moon isn't all about Bren's past, or his life before he met the Wird sisters, or the fact that he is snarky, sarcastic, and perhaps has a bit of a chip on his shoulder and doesn't take crap from anyone. You get to understand his perspective about Aric and Misha and where he stands on that particular issue. You know that he has a major crush on Celia that has gone unfulfilled. You get to see what Celia doesn't see about her self. Her eyes, her lack of confidence at times, but also her willingness and strength to do anything to save her sisters from harm.
A Cursed Moon is a little mixture of his camaraderie with his human best friend Dan Matagrano who he has a running gabble with, as well as his desire to rankle Aric for treating Celia so badly in his opinion. It also throws in an adventure when Bren and Celia work together to fight legendary ghosts who have been summoned by the Tribe to wreck havoc on the planet. You see how far Celia and Bren will go to protect their own, including Dan who is the only real human character in this series.
I would say that A Cursed Moon is a perfect mixture for what you can expect from Cecy Robson and goes hand in hand with the next installment called Cursed by Destiny. I would say that it is definitely recommended that you read the first two books in the series so that you can understand who the characters are. I would also hope that if you like this series that you pass on a recommendation to others who enjoy Urban Fantasy with Romance.

If you read the last book, you’ll know that hell broke loose and Aric crushed Celia’s heart. However, after reading this novella, my heart softened for him…a little. Lots of revelations in “A Cursed Moon”.
Bren, Dan and Celia made me grin like an idiot while I read this book. Their banter, jokes and daily interaction was just laugh-out-loud funny. I loved getting to know Bren and learning about his past and why he joined Aric’s pack. It was also very interesting to reminisce on the first time Bren meeting Dan. At the end; wow what happens to Dan was a shocker. I don’t want to spoil the surprise, but reading this short story was well worth the information we learn about Bren, Dan, Aric, and Celia.
If you have not picked up this series I highly recommend it. Cecy does not disappoint. She takes her fans on a wonderful roller coaster ride of emotions as well as lots and lots of action.

A Cursed Moon by Cecy Robson is Bren’s story in a series about the Wired Sisters. He’s like their loveable, perverted sarcastic brother they never wanted lol. I knew I always liked Bren, I just never knew how much I would end up loving him by the end of this book. Sure he is more than a little pervey but there is also a heart behind him. We get his back story which is a bit sad, he loses his parents at a young age and his so called pack won’t take in a “mongrel” like him leaving him alone in the world. How the pack has treated him is what leaves him more than a little weary about joining any packs. For his “sisters” he joins Aric’s pack, because he figures he can better watch over his girls that way. Bren might be brash, loud mouthed, and vulgar but he is nothing if not loyal to those he loves. I ended up a big fan of Bren and his loud mouth.
The story, typical to Cecy Robson style is action packed… we have demon ghost thingies and soul suckers that must be battled. Turns out Bren is a tracker of epic proportions and he plays an instrumental role in finding his hetrosexual life mate, but things turn ugly when lives are in danger. Although there is plenty of action to keep you on the edge of your seat there is plently of humor as we are taken through a walk in Bren’s interesting mind. There is also emotion when Bren may lose one he loves most. If you’re a fan of Cecy’s Robsons Wird Girls novels this is a must read. If you haven’t started this series yt. I highly recommend it!

I loved this novella! I have to admit that I am a huge fan of Cecy Robson since I read the first book in this series! Really, this woman knows how to write urban fantasy! I didn’t read the blurb before I started this story and I was surprised to see that it’s from Bren’s POV. I have to say that this was an excellent idea for a novella!
Bren is like a big brother to the Wird sisters and he’s amazing! As a lone wolf, he didn’t want to be a member of a pack but now he’s trying because it’s the only way to protect the sisters. In this story, he is sure that he’s going to win a bet against his human best friend, Dan, but at the end happens the unexpected.
I liked Bren a lot! Yes, he is womanizer and sarcastic but he’s also loyal and a great guy. He has a problem belonging to the pack because of a tragic event from his past. I was sad when I read what happened to his parents and I understand why he acts this way.
Of course, I loved the scenes with Celia and Aric, although Aric is still in my to-punch list! Can’t wait for the next book! I recommend the whole series to all the fans of urban fantasy!

Really enjoyed this novella by my pal Cecy Robson! Kickass and hilarious as ever. And it was great to get a glimpse inside Bren's head; love his character even more now! :)

Four stars: A novella that provides a full story and leaves you satisfied.
For Bren being a werewolf hasn't always been easy. Sure he has ripped muscles and the ability to transform into a werewolf when in danger, but it has been a lonely life since his parents died. Thankfully, a friend came in an unexpected form when he met the nerdy, gangly Dan at the gym where he worked. Danny wanted to build some muscles to get chicks, but Bren knew that Dan would never be ripped. Bren's brutal honesty earned him a new friend. These days, Bren and Danny are roommates, and it is a good thing because someone has to do the cooking and cleaning for Bren. When dangerous demons started stalking the Wird girls, Bren decided to join Aric's pack. The problem is that being a part of a pack means conforming to rules and Bren isn't alway so great about staying in between the lines. On a night when Bren, Celia and Dan are out to relax, demons stalk the local club. Bren refuses to listen to his alpha and he and Celia jump into action. Will his brash behavior kill him or the ones he loves?
What I Liked:
*I am not a big fan of novellas because I always feel like I am cheated. I never feel like I get a complete story and I am always wanting more. Not to mention that more often than not, the novellas really don't do much for the overall storyline that is progressing in the series. That being said, I was pleasantly surprised to find that I got a full story, along with important developments in the series and I was left satisfied. If you are like me and you tend to steer away from novellas, I would recommend giving this one a read.
*Bren and Danny have always been two of my favorite secondary characters so I was super excited to find that this novella is told through Bren's eyes. It isn't often you get a novella from a secondary character! I enjoyed learning more about Bren's difficult past, his friendship with Danny, and I liked seeing how he felt about Celia. Aside from all that, what I liked the most was his cocky, rash, flippant attitude that lands him into all kinds of trouble. I especially enjoyed watching Bren get his ass handed to him. Bren made me laugh at his antics and I appreciated that his voice was all male. After reading this novella, I think that Ms. Robson needs to write a spinoff series from Bren's point of view.
*I was surprised and pleased to see that the novella actually took a shocking turn that led to a life changing event for one of the characters. Again, it isn't often that an author dares to write an altering event in the series in a novella. While you can certainly piece together what happened without reading the novella and go straight into A Cursed Destiny, (I know because I read them backwards...hey, I like to color outside the lines sometimes) you should read this first so you have a clearer understanding of Dan and Bren.
*Once again, the humor and snark shines through in this novella. I loved Bren's humorous voice and I especially enjoyed his interactions with Danny and Mrs. Mancuso. Bren vaulted up on my list of favorite book boyfriends.... could we have more Bren in future books, please?
And The Not So Much:
*I was a bit disappointed that there wasn't a recollection of how Bren and the Wird girls became friends. I was hoping since I was able to learn how the friendship between Danny and Bren was born that I would learn how Bren and Celia and the rest of the sisters bonded through Bren's eyes.
*I adore the full set of sisters in this series and I missed not having Shayna, Taran and Emme in this novella. Celia plays a big role, but the other three are noticeably absent.
A Cursed Moon is a novella worth checking out as it is told through one of the secondary character's eyes and it makes some bold moves in the overall storyline. I liked that I got a complete story and I was left satisfied. If you are hesitant to read a novella as you are tired of feeling cheated, this is one that is sure to please. If nothing else, pick this up to learn more about the sexy, hot Bren. I am hopeful that in the future we will get more books from his point of view.

I’ve been fortunate to read this series from the first book (I have not read the first novella THE WEIRD GIRLS) and I love the freshness of Cecy’s voice. She really immerses herself and us in Celia Wird’s voice. Celia is one of the four Wird sisters who were the victims of a curse gone wrong – one of those be careful what you wish for kind of things. Other books about her and her sisters’ lives in the Lake Tahoe area are in this feminine voice but A CURSED MOON comes from the sisters’ friend and werewolf, Bren. Bren has been instru
mental in the fight against evil in the form of the Tribe a group of power hungry, up to no good supernaturals.
Celia’s mate is a pure blood werewolf, Aric, who is unable to be with her for way too many reasons. All her sisters are with werewolves. Each of them possess powers as well. Celia turns into a big cat, and another wields fire, another heals.
The story here gives us background into Bren’s life, and that of their other friend, a sort of nerdy guy named Danny. Danny is really smart but a comedic character whose lack of fashion sense is just sad. But he’s the guy who does research and knows who’s bad and what different signs mean.
My feeling is this novella helps to expand Cecy’s voice in the first person POV of a male character. It’s an exercise I see done by many authors. This might seem a small feat, but I think one of the hardest things a writer can do is write from the other side of the gender divide. I think it’s one reason I mostly read female writers.
I think Cecy pretty much nails Bren’s characterization through his voice. There’s a lot of bravado and machismo to Bren, as the description says he’s brash. Not making a guy sound like a jerk is not easy. Men are often written as too adolescent, boisterous, bombastic, with braggadocio galore. Bren seems a little adolescent, a bit of a jerk, but here it’s not a woman writing the guy that way but the character is actually that kind of guy. He doesn’t trust the pack he’s been taken in by because the pack has never done him any good before. The pack works together and Bren has always been a lone wolf. He’s a great tracker but untrained in the other skills he needs in the battle between good and evil. But, why should he trust these guys; he’s managed perfectly well on his own?
The trick is whether the voice grows with the character and herein it does.
Cecy’s characters, except maybe Misha and his vampires, are very human for people who aren’t entirely human.. And they are touching. Being human they do incredibly stupid things. Cecy also manages to give each character something of their “other” side to. They are all distinct – although I will admit to having a hard time keeping Celia’s sisters, Shayna and Taran, as well as their mates, separate.
I enjoyed this novella and hope you will too. Cecy writes with a lot of heart and empathy for her characters.

Hahaha, Bren! Such a strong personality. These ghosts put him and his friends through some dangerous and deadly moments. But what Bren comes to realize, along with Celia, is more. Then there's Danny too! Surprise, surprise! Loved this ending, totally didn't see it coming.

Ghosts have been terrorizing the town since the Tribe appeared. The Pack and Vampires, unknown to the other, have been busy fighting them. Bren, the lone wolf friend of the Weird sisters, has been trying to adjust to being part of Pack. He's not doing so well. Bren antagonizes his roommate, Dan, to the point of a deal. To get a girl at the Watering Hole after work. Bren is very good at pushing everyone's buttons, even ghosts. On a visit with Celia, Bren and Celia have their hands full when a ghost appears. Thinking they are safe for the night, they head to the Watering Hole. Spirits continue to invade Ben's night of fun, keeping him on his toes and putting his dear friends, his Pack, in danger.
This book is through Bren's eyes. We do see Danny, Aric, and Celia, along with several others by name. But getting a book through Bren's eyes gives us a chance to see the situation among the characters a little differently. We see Bren and Dan at their best. The great friendship here. We get Bren's view on Aric and being part of his Pack. We feel Bren's strong protection of Celia and the girls along with Danny. They are his Pack.
Bren loves to get a rise out of everyone and is great at it. I love this with Bren. The thing, after I think about it, he usually is telling them the truth but not in an over kind way. The truth hurts sometimes. Bren is a strong personality - fun and laid back yet fierce too. High on the testosterone too. Love him. Bren does learn a lesson, even a small hint of a lesson, as the day goes on.
The ghosts that pop up put Bren and his friend through some dangerous and deadly moments. The book gains momentum in the ghost plot as you go, and where it ends...well Surprise, surprise! I never expected that ending! Loved it!
We get thoughts on his friends and what transpired between a few of the wolves and the sisters. The thread of the series is here as well. We left A Cursed Embrace with some strong feelings. This helps give additional views to what happened and why. And Bren uses the topic of Celia to stir up some lovely trouble. It works so well here. We get to see the wide variety of emotions among them all as he visits and pushes buttons.
Could you read this without reading the previous novels? Well, I'd say no. This novella gives away Celia's relationship and why. But the story of Bren is of it's own. So, if you don't mind ruining your surprise with previous books, okay, have at it. But, you are warned.
I would suggest reading it with the series, in order. Bren is the friend that you expect trouble yet all that fun from. Enjoy him!

A Cursed Moon is a novella told from the perspective of Bren, Celia’s were friend. Novella’s are always hit or miss for me, rarely do they fall in the middle, and luckily, A Cursed Moon is a huge success.
I adore Cecy Robson for being able to build such a fabulously complex character in a single novella. I feel like I know Bren well now, and I certainly understand what makes him behave the way he does. I have to admit I was a bit worried at first – Bren’s devil may care attitude grated on me and made me severely uncomfortable, but Robson did a fabulous job of explaining his character in a way that made sense and that succeeded in endearing him to me in a matter of minutes. The loyalty and love he shows his friends on a daily basis more than make up for his sometimes obnoxious behavior.
It was also nice to see Celia through someone else’s eyes. Due to her confidence issues, we never really got the sense of how other people might see her, so being privy to Bren’s thoughts was truly eye-opening. It is now even more clear that Celia has a somewhat distorted self-image and that she is, in fact, both fierce and stunningly gorgeous.
Even though this novella focuses on Bren and his new position in Aric’s pack, a big part of it continues to explore Celia and Aric’s situation. These two break my heart to teeny tiny bits. Their love for each other is so strong, but Aric is not selfish enough to put his own desires and happiness above that of his pack. They are the very definition of star-crossed lovers, and Robson writes these emotional moments extremely well.
For a novella, A Cursed Moon is pretty eventful and it brings some permanent changes, which is rather unusual. I can’t wait to see how they will reflect on the series as a whole in Cursed by Destiny, the next novel in this wonderful series.

Cecy Robson's A Cursed Moon was as fantastic as all the reviews I read said it was! This short little read is an action packed adventure and not one to be missed if you're a fan of the Weird Girls series!
Taking place after A Cursed Embrace, we know that Celia and Aric are no longer a couple. But this novella isn't about Celia and her relationship problems, we finally get to meet Bren in totality. True, we know Brean is the Wird sisters' best friend and werewolf brother--by friendship--but in this novella we really get a glimpse at his true self in all his sarcastic glory! I love Bren! He is such a riot and says whatever he thinks is best...which is usually something to piss Aric off or make Celia mad for a fraction of a minute.
Here we get a nice case of evil ghosties. Yes, ghosties, because I am feeling jovial this morning! These ghosts are pretty bad ass, along the lines of being La Llorona--remember that woman in white that killed her children and then herself? That was Supernatural episode 1 too! Well, she's here in this one too, but she's not necessarily our main villain. That comes with the Ciguapas. They're a creepy bunch too and were a totally new to me supernatural type!
Bren enlists Celie's help when their best friend Dan is kidnapped by one of these ghouls. Soon it becomes a race against the clock to rescue Dan before he meets his maker. It was quite the heart racing read!
It's not exactly necessary to read this one before Cursed by Destiny--I figure since that hasn't released yet--but there is a moment or two that might have a pretty impact on the characters in the next novel. So to be prepared for that and to know the details behind a probable moment or two, then you should definitely read this! Plus, it's Bren and Bren is freaking hilarious!

Taking place after A Cursed Embrace, we know that Celia and Aric are no longer a couple. But this novella isn't about Celia and her relationship problems, we finally get to meet Bren in totality. True, we know Brean is the Wird sisters' best friend and werewolf brother--by friendship--but in this novella we really get a glimpse at his true self in all his sarcastic glory! I love Bren! He is such a riot and says whatever he thinks is best...which is usually something to piss Aric off or make Celia mad for a fraction of a minute.

Bren, Bren, Bren. I already knew I liked your cocky, bad boy heart of gold but now, now I love you.
I have to say this before really getting into anything else, it says something big about the author's ability to pack so much punch into a novella. To make it feel like it is a complete story in and of itself.
It is no secret that I love this series, the writing captures you, pulls you in and refuses to let go. The fact that it is full of memorable characters who are witty, funny, loving and not to mention kick butt, doesn't hurt either.
Bren has always been somewhat of a mystery and to finally get not only a background on his past but a look into that perverted mind of his was so much fun! It proved how loyal, fierce and protective he is of the Wird sisters and of Dan. I really couldn't of asked for a better look into him.
The fact that we not only get some much needed Bren time but also a continuation of the series as a whole with Celia and Aric being very much present throughout was a huge bonus and one that I wasn't expecting.
I really can't do this series justice. It is just fabulous. It truly has everything a person could possibly ask for in a mind blowing, keep you on the edge of your set one minute and laughing out loud the next read.
This is a must read series for any fan of urban fantasy, heck this is a must read series for any book lover period.
This was the perfect read to tide me over for the next book Cursed By Destiny and leave me salivating for more.

Are you reading the Weird Girl series by Cecy Robson? You should be! This is a wickedly good, action-packed; make you pull your hair out urban fantasy. It is a story I cannot get enough of. I am usually not a fan of all the little side novellas in a series. In truth, I normally skip them. That did not stop me from scooping up, A Cursed Moon, and consumed it in a single sitting. I read this for the simple fact that I cannot get enough of this world and its characters. Ok, *rolls eyes* maybe the snarky, sexy, misunderstood, loyal, lone wolf, Bren had a little something to do with it. What? Don’t look at me like that. He is hot, and Robson really peeled back his layers with A Cursed Moon. I adored Bren, and I want more!

I know a lot of people don’t read novellas that may be set in a series world, but all you Weird Girls series fans out there….y’all have GOT to read A Cursed Moon! Not only is it a fantastic addition to the series told with Cecy Robson trademark mix of action and snark, but there is a major development that you’ll want to know about before you begin book 3, Cursed by Destiny.
A Cursed Moon focuses on Bren, one of the Wird sisters’ dearest friends and former lone wolf. I’ve said with each installment how much I love the characters that Robson has created and Bren is no exception. He’s confident…okay cocky, a smartass, and he would do anything to protect the girls he sees as sisters. We find out more about Bren’s motivations and past and with every new thing we learn makes me love him more.
A Cursed Moon is a quick read novella with lots of page-turning action. I don’t recommend reading this one as a stand-alone. As with many urban fantasy series, the action starts up shortly after the events of the last installment and a continuation of the overall story arc. Just like the previous novels and novella, A CURSED EMBRACE is loaded with action and para-super adventures. The Weird Girls 2.5 is told from Bren's POV and this wolf had me chuckling all throughout because of his smart ass comments and acid come backs. But underneath his good looks and attitude lies a super devoted friend. Bren will risk life and limb to keep his friends, human or supe, safe and when Dan, a human and Bren's anti-thesis, got taken by Latin American ghosts, Ciguafas, it's no question that Bren will do everything in his power to save him. Another reason why weres are my favorite supes, regardless of the situation, we can always trust that they'll be LOYAL.
Cecy Robson is on a roll with these stories although I have to be honest and say that I was kinda hoping A CURSED MOON would feature Celia's sisters. I was thinking the next novella would be Shayna's since she went through a roller coaster ride back in A Cursed Embrace and I'd like to see how's life been treating her since then. Plus I've been itching to know the other Wirds better, especially Taran [she's my fave], maybe in the next books? Anyways, A CURSED MOON is as fast paced, lively and dangerous as the previous books. CRobson always adds these curious creatures into the mix it'll be a long a$$ time before I get tired of the series. I really enjoyed getting to see this book through Bren’s eyes. I love how supportive and protective of the girls he is. It was also very cool to see the girls from his perspective. Bren is so funny and so fiercely loyal to those in his “pack” and that pack is Danny and the Wird sisters. As usual there is all kinds of action, humor, and sexual innuendos, as well as some very interesting interactions with Mrs. Mancuso. This novella is important to the story line for the next book, Cursed by Destiny. We learn a lot about Bren’s background/story, and how he hasn’t lived an easy life. Both of his parents died when he was young and he has major issues with Aric’s pack because of it. Also another reason to read this before Cursed by Destiny is something big happens at the end and you may go into CbD a little confused. I have a few favorite passages that I’m going to share with you. I recommend reading this after A Cursed Embrace and before Cursed by Destiny.

Cecy Robson never fails to entertain us, even in her novellas. I had a really great time reading this novella. It enticed me to read first before actually studying when I finally got a hold of a copy. I going to have trouble with my tests tomorrow :P but it's totally worth it.
I needed a few chapters to actually remember the series. It's really cool that Cecy gave Bren & Dan a book. We could finally see how the mind of the cute and charming Bren works, which also gave him a spot in my swoon-worthy-guys. Cecy, you're going to give me a real hard time looking for a boyfriend by flaunting these hot men in my face. Hahahaha
Also, the novella unraveled things about Bren that, even Celia doesn't know about. At first, I thought this would be a book about Bren finally settling down, like most novellas, but it's not really the case. This is just a simple short story that showcases another great character without trying to change him at all or forcing another on him.
This is not a novella to miss and I suggest reading this first before going to the next book because it contains some great sh*t that I think will be very crucial to the next installment.

Ah, it's a week of shorts and one from my favorite series … the Weird Girls. A Cursed Moon is all about Bren, a very hot and very cocky (who wouldn't be when they could charm their way out of anything?) werewolf who is not looking for a mate, or a pack. Bren is also one of Celia's friends, and since the POV is from Bren we get to see Celia through new eyes, which makes me love her even more. She comes across as confident and intense, and it's fantastic. It was also interesting seeing Aric from Bren's perspective, especially since Bren only joined for the sisters. He pushes all of Aric's buttons, is holding how Aric hurt Celia over him and I want him for a big brother. For Weird Girls fans, you have to read this one. For newbies, I'd recommend starting with Sealed With a Curse.

A Cursed Moon is an "in-between" book which plops the reader into the action between the second Wird Girls novel, A CURSED EMBRACE, and the 3rd novel, CURSED BY DESTINY. While this story is focused on Bren, the lone wolf (and werewolf) best friend of the sisters, Cecilia and Arik make appearances. And I'm glad. Without going into spoilers, let's just say I don't "hate" Arik quite as much as I did at the end of Embrace. And it was fun to get a closer look at the irreverent Bren, along with some surprises involving their human buddy, Danny. A quick read, lots of fun, and a teaser of the soon-to-release CURSED BY DESTINY.

I really really enjoyed this novella! I loved that we got Bren's view for a change, he really adores the girls and Danny! I think he's way too hard on Arik but it's only because he loves Celia so much and I have to say I got very suspicious at one point in the story when he was interacting with Emme! I now suspect (though have yet to have it proved!) that he and Emme may be mates! I really hate Arik's fiancée and I'm still hoping he and Celia will beat all odds and obstacles to be together as they should be! I also love what happened with Danny! Can't wait for the next book to come out and would love if the future included another novella with Bren narrating!

The first thing I would like to mention is that Bren is a butthead. The story was mostly entertaining and I did like reading things from another character’s point of view, even if he is the epitome of an irascible big brother or “that” friend. Getting an insight as to why, or a good reason why, he acts the way he does makes up for it. I guess he’s a butthead, but he has a pretty good excuse as to why he is and is not doing so just because he is a butthead.
At times he is funny, but sometimes I feel guilty for thinking what he says is funny ... dunno if that makes sense or not. hah
