My pastor assigned this as reading to the church elders, including me. We didn't get past chapter 2. The writing is stilted and awkward, with contrived conversations that wouldn't happen in real life. The author seems far more interested in constructing acronyms (GROW, SoIL, etc) than in getting his message across. I made it all the way through the book on my own- my life could have been better spent.
The author's first endorsement on his website is from a guy I know personally. I know that guy from when he was an assistant pastor at a church I attended for several years. He along with his wife embezzled money from the church dozens of times. This led to his firing, and the firing of the senior pastor who had brought him in. Note to author: if you're writing a book on how to do church better, it helps to not have your first endorsement be from a guy who repeatedly stole money from the church. Check your references.
