"Defiance" is the final book in the SODIUM series. The Earth and the empire it controls are on the defensive. Her citizens are defiant in the face of an overwhelming power. They will fight to ensure their survival and that of their allies. Will they be victorious and determine their own destiny or will Earth and Man perish for all eternity? Who will rule the Milky Way? Find out in the exciting conclusion to the SODIUM series!
I came to this planet sixty some odd years ago. After exiting my mother's portal, the doctor slapped me around until I started breathing the oxygen. I'll admit, at the time, I had no idea what I was doing or where I was. Being an infant Human, I was completely reliant on the responsible actions of others. It was a time that I have largely forgotten.
I reside in Central Florida with the wife and children. After thirty years in engineering, my time is now spent chronicling the adventures of fictitious heroes. They are off-world, fighting the good fight. For me? I'm stuck here on this planet in this feeble existence that we Humans are all forced to endure.
So, I ask you this... do you wish to escape the bonds of this surly planet we call Earth? Are you looking for a bit more adventure than what the grocery store has to offer? Do you worry about being enslaved by alien androids or six-eyed alien goats with lasers? Pew, pew, pew!
Yeah, that's what I thought. Asking yourself those questions and getting back an answer is the first hurdle to cross in the race to get off this world. Sounds like you are ready to venture out, to put this place behind you.
So crack open one of my books. Take to the heavens and let me shout this out to those who remain: "Watch out universe! Another Human is on the loose!"
Even Star wars would have a hard time keeping up with this one. It has everything in it! Love, hate, drama, excitement, thrills, justified vengeance, disappointments, surprises, relief, victories, twists + turns, and lots of good science ideas!!!
This story was interesting, although sometimes dumb and unimaginative. With ridiculous alien descriptions and names, along with tense war drama, it reads funny, then sad, then goofy. SPOILER ALERT: There were a couple of things that didn't add up - the ending for one. Earlier in the story it said all humans had dna remakes, but at the end (when going through the door), it seems the author completely forgot what he wrote earlier. The main character was smart, but there were times in the book when she did ridiculously stupid things. It was totally unbelievable simply for the sake of making the story a little more exciting. It's a good light read if you need a little distraction in your life.
I just finished this series for,p the second time. It was even better when read again. A master author! I look forward to reading AMP again next. Wonderful mind!
Its all coming down to the wire as again the enemies of Man destroy all those in their path with Humanity perhaps being the only ones who may save the Galaxy. Some great ideas and advancements happening making this a engaging book and end to the series
This review is for: SODIUM:6 There were so many "Clif Hangers" where I thought it was All-Over for our heroine, another World, another Star System or another main character that I was exhausted when I finished reading. There were enough losses that you never developed the feeling "They'll Survive"...no matter what (some don't). I regret I was unable to read this book with only limited interruptions (for food and sleep). But, I began this last in a series of six books shortly before Christmas when fourteen of my children and Grandchildren began to arrive for a ten day visit. Even so, and with all the action and events transpiring I never felt lost requiring me to go back and get reacquainted with characters or events. The action was nearly continuous with just enough breaks to let you catch your breath. It was amazing to see how many Worlds, Star Systems and Species the Author could conceive along with their different body styles and traits or characteristics. There were so many I think an Index or Glossary may have been helpful...but, I managed. The only (slight) technical flaw I thought was the presumption that life existed in or on world's with conditions similar to Earth's. Even on our own planet we find life at great ocean depths, without sunlight and at boiling temperatures in highly acidic conditions at Volcanic Vents. However, this causes no problem at all with this epic series. The ending was one of the best and I won't comment further so nothing is spoiled for future readers. I'll just say that I'm glad it leaves open the possibility for further adventures in the future. Coincidently, I just saw the latest Star Wars movie yesterday and after finishing this book the movie almost seemed dull and slow. Review by "THE HOLEY ONE"
