Liliana Hart spent five years teaching music in the public education system. She molded America’s youth, busted kids for smoking pot in the restrooms, and broke up illicit affairs behind the stage on a regular basis. (Liliana’s Addison Holmes Mystery Series, about a small town teacher who gets into a whole lot of trouble, is somewhat autobiographical, but she won’t confess to which parts).

Liliana began reading romance novels with all her new found free time, and when she ran out of things to read, she decided to write her own novels. The result was a 150,000 word thriller—a dazzling adventure—where the heroine was a thirty-year-old virgin assassin (Yes, you read that right). She couldn’t imagine why people weren’t knocking down her door to read it, but she persevered and began writing a second book. She finally got the hang of things, and eventually learned that losing one’s virginity wasn’t all that romantic after all. All of her books involve some kind of suspense (she just can't help herself), laughter, and a lot of steamy sex.

Since the failure of her first attempt, Liliana’s books have won awards such as: The Daphne Du Maurier, The Suzannah, The Linda Howard Award of Excellence, The Maggie, and many others. Her affiliations include Romance Writers of America and Mystery Writers of America.

Liliana loves to cook, and is addicted to reading, Internet Boggle, kickboxing, and Bones. She lives in a big, rambling house in Texas with a couple of cats to keep her company. She loves to get emails from readers.

Enjoy the Adventures!

I received this book as a freebie at RT15.

I know Liliana Hart is a hugely popular author, but I didn't finish this book. It was fine and there were definitely some funny parts, but I got tired of hearing so much about the hotness of the heroine and the two heroes. About two thirds of the way through Whiskey for Breakfast and after reading endless passages about how Addison felt about her ex and how hot she found Savage (really? his name is Savage?), I got tired of the endless back and forth between the Addison and the two men. The mystery was interesting, but I'm not a fan of the "will they or won't they" trope. I'm happy with a slow burn romance, but "will they or won't they" always seems like a manipulative and cheap plot mechanism. Anyway, I checked the description of the next book and decided that finding out who did it wasn't worth finishing this one.

Meh....I thought they might get more interesting as the series continued but it's more of the same. A quick read that requires no brain power at all. I am getting a little tired of the pages and pages of angst over Addison's sex life, and now her mother's sex life is brought into the story. The "mystery" really takes a back seat to the sex, and again, the mystery is wrapped up almost as an afterthought at the end. The last part of the story was no surprise....you could see it coming. I also don't need the details of what sex position comes next. I've got 6 or 7 books in the series, and they take only a couple hours to read, and being social distancing at this time, I've got nothing better to do. But if I were more discerning, I probably wouldn't finish them.

Addison is a former high school history teacher who is now working part-time at her friend, Kate's detective agency. She is studying and training to become a full-time PI. Her cases include the search for a missing old woman (she has changed her name and moved into a different senior's home), a billionaire who is dying and wants to find his only heir (the product of a sperm donation in the 1940s) and a wife suspected of cheating. Because of a prior case, Addison is being threatened by a killer who won't hesitate to use his hatchet.

Nick, the police officer Addison had been dating but who broke up with her because of her job, is hanging around her again. FBI Agent Savage is her neighbour and is pursuing her. While she is attracted to Savage, her heart still belongs to Nick.

Addison has recently moved (she was living with her mom who had recently remarried) and is pressured into joining the neighbourhood watch, complete with teeshirts, theme songs and strange characters. Rosemarie, her friend and a teacher, has randy boyfriend. Phoebe, Addison's older sister, has recently moved home and is staying with her.

This is the third book I've read by this author and I liked it. Though it is the third in the Addison Holmes series, it works as a stand alone. It was a light fun book to read. It is written in first person perspective from Addison's point of view. I liked the writing style ... it was amusing. As a head's up, there is swearing and adult activity.

I look forward to reading the rest in this series in addition to other books by this author.

There is just something so appealing about this series. Addison is a certified hotmess, but ya gotta love her. She falls int solving her cases despite her best efforts to mess things up. It a wonder the girl has survived, they should have a special room at the hospital just for her!

I have said in the past that I think Savage is a better match for her in the romance department, but Ms Hart is determined to have us think she should be with Nick. Maybe she is just the girl to get him to lighten up and challenge him. They do have chemistry that peels the wallpaper.

The smexy stuff is mostly closed bedroom with hints of details here and there. Things get hot and bothered but never go to full on erotic details. Addison has a way of bringing out the beast in men who are interested in her. I have also noted she rarely gets it on in the bedroom, so many other parts of the house are more interesting!

The narrative is still first person, Addison has a quirky POV that makes the series a laugh riot. I do not usually like this tense, but I have found it doesn't bother me as much in audio. Go figure.

There are so many lively and dynamic supporting characters in the series. I love everybody and really they are the reason Addison survives all her mishaps! I might even have a book crush on dishy Savage!

The mystery this time was a bit all over the place. I would have liked more clues to make it solvable. The end was a but Scooby Doo for me, the culprit came from left field. It was just all over the place and I had a little trouble keeping up with all the sub-plots.

I listened to the audiobook narrated by Connie Ventress, who does a wonderful job as always. She has a wonderful Southern accent that makes the character come to life. Great pacing and a soothing tone. She is perfectly matched to the series and I love her energy. Definitely hope to hear more of her reads!

Overall, this series is a guilty pleasure. It started out feeling very similar to another series but it is slowly becoming it's own animal. I am hooked and can't wait to see what happens next! Oh boy, that ending was a kicker!!

Another Holmes Hit for Hart!! I want MORE! I've just read the first three books in the Addison Holmes series in the last week! All I can say is I want more!! There is steamy romance, never ending interruptions (usually related to a dead body), and belly rolling laughter! If you need a pick-me up give this series a try, I think you will agree and LOVE it! And now a bit about the story...

Addison Holmes is still an unemployed spy in training. She is working to get her PI license, but has to finish at the top of her class on the written test, firearms test, and physical fitness test. Right now she can't run a mile without puking on the neighbors lawn. Things aren't looking good... In steps agent Savage to help her get trained and just as she is getting the hang of it, her house is broken into and her head bashed into the wall, putting a slight damper on her training. Not that Nick minds, he still loves her and hates it when she spends any time with the hot FBI man. Only question is can he recover from leaving her in the hospital with a bullet wound??? And you'll never guess who is the bad guy this time - I was completely surprised - AGAIN!! Plus there is cliffhanger with the results of her test ... will she get positive score on all them? Are we sure she really wants to?

Favorite passages:
- My stealth abilities had improved by about a hundred and fifty percent since my first day on the job. Which wasn't saying much. It was the same thing as saying a kindergartner could finally use the paste without eating it.
- I was almost positive that Savage would be miraculous in bed. Like an oversexed Captain Kirk, exploring uncharted territory.
- "He was ugly as homemade sin but he was a good man. That counted for something back in those days you know. Now all women want are rippling muscles and monster schlongs. I read all about it in Cosmo. Those kind of men are good for an affair but not for the long haul."

Great work Liliana!!! Can't wait for the next installment!

Okay so I am not downing this book at all, was away to good for a bad review, lol....but I am going to get on the author about ending the book the way she did!! What is that about, so not fair!!! Haha!! Now I am going to have to wait forever for the next one to see what happens!!

Okay enough ranting about the ending!! Overall, like the rest of the books in this series (which I re-read before this one)Whiskey for Breakfast was a great, fun and entertaining book. It had my giggling pretty much through the whole book. So much swoon worthiness as well between both Nick and Matt!! Yum!! Addison, she is a riot, still getting herself in trouble with her training as a P.I. poor thing, there are times I almost feel sorry for all the bad luck she has. I can almost relate with her, lol!

If you have not started this series, I highly recommend it, you will have so much fun reading these books! Liliana Hart is a great writer and her works is written so well, everything blends smoothly, her characters are believable and even the story seems like it could almost be a real life situation. I definitely recommend these books and other books by this author, she will not disappoint!!

Wow, talk about an author that can make me put sleep on hold to read a book in 24 hrs. Well, I have read the previous books in the series and I'm already anticipating #4. What I love the most about this series is it's a great combination of mystery, love and comedy yet never straying off course of the main genre of mystery. Liliana Hart is a refreshing author that makes reading fun and stirs the imagination by trying to let you anticipate what's next.
Addison Holmes is a riot, the 'scrapes' that she gets herself into is hilarious. I don't want to share word for word what happens in the book because what fun would that be? That's like reading the last chapter as the beginning of the book. Just know that you'll enjoy every page of it.

So, yes, there is a lot to like in this book. I would say it's much like Darynda Jones light, without the explicit sex and paranormal. And that's not to say the book is without merit, just that how much better it may have been if at least the spice wasn't closed door. Now the FMC here is Addison Holmes. she's 30, working to become a PI in Savanna GA. Addison is accident prone, has a tendency to get sloppy drunk but apparently is so breathtakingly beautiful that everyone she meets falls in love with her. Yeah I know, just a bit much. She has a Cookie like comic relief friend whose a plus sized gal with a really bad wardrobe and a bizarre way of behaving in public with her Danny Devito look alike boyfriend. There is an awful lot of talk about sex, but it's mostly just that. Addison must spend 70% of her time raising her eyebrows or looking aghast at some inappropriate remark or other. But here's where it gets to be a bit off. Most of the side characters are also written for comic relief and they're written to be absurd, but there is also a bit of prejudice in these descriptions that I'm not sure how to take. Mrs.Rodriguez an elderly Latina neighbor is into Voodoo? Matt, the half native American neighbor has the actual surname of Savage? And of course the local gangsters all have Italian surnames. Seriously? And while I found Harry the Humper hilarious, there was also a part of me that feels a little cringe. I mean, these are homeless people we're talking about right? Homeless and suffering from mental illness. Should that be a joke? So while most of this can be funny and entertaining, there is the odd racist classist hint here which I think the books really don't need.

WHY WHISKEY FOR BREAKFAST?

Whiskey for Breakfast by Liliana Hart is the second installment in the Addison Holmes Mystery series and kudos to the author I had no trouble catching on and recognizing who’s who.. This novel plows the ground laid out by Janet Evonovich’s Stephanie Plum series, with an almost hapless heroine doubled teamed by two handsome, strong men who are after her…talents as told by a first person, sometimes hilarious narrative. This story finds our heroine, Addison, a former school teacher, now apprentice to a PI trying to learn the ropes, sometimes succeeding but often getting caught in dangerous situations. We even learn she was shot in the leg in an earlier installment. Addison has only recently moved into a new neighborhood next store to one of the hunks—we can see where this might lead—and surrounded by some crazy neighbors, some of whom are carrying. These stories are set in Savannah and though there was a bit of description of the historic district, I would have liked a little more immersion in this very interesting city. All in all, a very enjoyable read, a little hot in places, a bit suspenseful at times and often funny.

9/10: Fantastic, left me wanting more.

These just get better and better. Love the humour.

Uncle Milton had been a firm believer in male enhancement and erectile dysfunction medication. Not that it had done him a lot of good in the end. They’d had a hell of a time getting Milton’s coffin closed, and I shudder to think how scarred the poor intern was who was relegated to massaging out the rigor.

Love Nick.

“I know, babe. Believe me, I know.”

I really like Savage too, but hope the love triangle is resolved and not drawn out any longer. Enough is enough now.

I was almost positive that Savage would be miraculous in bed. Like an oversexed Captain Kirk, exploring uncharted territory.

But it's the humour (and Nick) which makes this series for me.

The woman was somewhere between twenty-two and seventy-two. There was too much plastic surgery getting in the way to make an accurate guess, and I was thinking we’d probably have to chop her in half and count her rings if we wanted to know her real age.

On to the next!

Ups and downs in the tumultuous love life of Addison Holmes. Lots of good cases, especially with searching for the heir of a rich man who had donated sperm years previously, but knew only a few bits of information on who received the sperm. Another case revolves around s drug lord who has lots of cops and even s judge on his payroll, so he's tough to catch.

Addison is confused about the two men in her life. Savage is a good guy, but Addison doesn't give up on Nick, and they go through a complicated process of reconciling. Finally, he changes his mind about not being with her and suggests she move in with him and see how that goes.

Addison also meets his parents, each of whom is awful in their own way. Phoebe, Addison's sister, shows up, and she may be an interesting character moving forward. Rosemarie gets involved with a guy and a happy with him.

Glad I stuck with this series.

I have a lot of feelings on this book/series.

First, it bugs me that Addison’s background changes from book to book. In the first book of the series, she specifically mentions not being Catholic, in book two she mentions a lifetime of Catholic guilt, and in book three she’s not quite religious. Book one (and maybe two), she’s into yoga, then suddenly she hates yoga in the third book, etc. The editing leaves something to be desired, as well (should the Prologue really be word-for-word a chapter that comes later in the book?) And finally, the parallels between Addison and Stephanie Plum are a bit excessive - I am hoping to see these books come into their own as the series progresses.

Despite the above, I still enjoyed the quick and quirky read (go figure) - let’s see how book four is.

This is by far the best book of the series.
The cases that Addison is on, is on her skill level. She falls into another one, but that works as it isn't her being assigned to the case.
I like the adding of more depth of Nick as it makes him a more real character. And Savage is finally not as predictor as he was in the last book.
Adding the sister is a lot of fun, but I don't get her with Savage, I don't know if I would want to keep going.
I don't know if I get the relationship of Addison and Nick, they only seem to talk about the case or having sex, which is ok, but then they are moving in together, they barely talked about it! I am hopeful that the series keeping getting better and will be reading the next one.

Hart/whiskey for breakfast:an Addison Holmes mystery

This series is the best yet ,even though the others were good, but I never laughed so hard at Addison ,p.i. In training and her misfortune cluzt that keeps happening to her. She and her detective cop nick take their relationship to next level. I loved these series of Holmes i fell in loved with all the main characters, addison, nick, savage, phebee (Addison sister), rosaliee(her teacher friend), kate, her boss, her mother and her mother newly husband vince, which is a cop. I recommend this series to anyone who loves a good mystery with humour thrown in with a little chaotic action thrown in also .

The plots are so superfluous to these books. Ha, guess you would never have thought I would say that, or read a book like this. But, it is summertime, and this is just fun, light stuff. Lots of humor, and mainly lots of hot sex, with a little story line around it of trying to figure out who killed the old dying guy and who his heir is. Great literature this is not, and lots of typos, but still I zipped right through it. One great line goes something like this - "I went to eat the great homemade chocolate cake that mom had bought at the grocery store." What's not to love about that?

Had a few LOL moments during this read, plus some good smiles. Hart has a down to earth style, and more horniness than the average author. Ha, I guess it doesn't make her a bad person.
Nice mix of cop/mystery work. Silly fun... and did I mention sex ?
Coffee and ice cream play an important part here too.
This is out of order for the Addison Holmes series, cuz this is my first Liliana Hart read, but it won't be my last.

Things have improved for Addison this time around, she's got her own place, she's getting jobs to do, and while her mom has some new quirks she doesn't seem as focused on her anymore. The dynamics have changed between Addison and Savage but its a good change and things are even better for her and Nick. Can't wait to start the next book.

This was the best book in the series so far. I was laughing so hard at times and finished the book in one go. The case about a black market sperm bank and the dying billionaire was very interesting and the senior home very entertaining. In addition we are introduced to new family members who were.. interesting. The end was surprising and left me in a funk so I immediately started the next one.

Surprise Charmer!

I did not expect to like this book - there were too many similarities initially to another series of popular bail bonds stories. BUT I was pleasantly surprised. The characters are funny and the story moved at a good pace and kept me wanting to read more and more!! I am going to get the next one right NOW!!

Awesome series

Absolutely love these books. You will probably read reviews that say the characters are like Stephanie Plum. I don't agree. Yes, there are similarities but not enough to say it is the same. Love how Addison seems to find herself in some unusual predicaments. Great read. Great amount of laughter, banter, craziness, and of course antics.
