One word: Wow! The author wasted no time getting the environment setup, ready for use with complete explanations, and will get you going in no time at all using JQuery UI. The book has been written with great detail to structure, it flows, and it's easy to understand what the Author is teaching you. The first few sections in the book are guiding you through a setup, quickly jumping into a JavaScript refresher, and finally diving right into JQuery UI.

A few things stood out for me as well about this book, the author uses practical examples, he builds onto already used code, and the structure stays intact for the entire book. I also really enjoy the authors encouragement throughout the entire book, it's really rewarding!

The book does a great job with its examples all of which are functional, stay on track, and really give you the "meat" on the subject. I would highly recommend this book for starters like myself, or for seasoned vet's to use as a quick reference guide based on the size of the book it's very easy to navigate using the various options available for download by Packt Publishing. https://www.packtpub.com/jquery-ui-st...

This tiny book is a quite good introduction how to start to use jQuery UI library for experienced web developer who they aren't used to developing in javascript and browser scope scripting.

Although it walks along the most basic principles of the basis of browser's javascript and jQuery, the developer needs to be familiar a little bit with those, because it only mention a refreshment of them, so they are not enough to instruct to the developer to have a well understanding of the next sections.

After the refreshment, it walks the top 5 features about jQuery UI, so it is a good introduction to it, providing the basis to the developer can go further.

If you are thinking to dive into jQuery UI for the first time, don't forget to check this book in the published web site

If you don't know Jquery this book is not for you, If you do know Jquery and are ready to get your hands dirty then pick up a copy of Instant jQuery UI Starter.

It goes fast, uses awesome examples and before its done you will be ready to tackle coding like drag & drop, UI Effects and making buttons, check boxes and radials that aren't terrible!

Not an in-depth guide but amazing for the people ready to get their hands dirty and start banging out quality code.

It was easy to understand, and it do provide you with the very basics of the Widgets, effects and interactions fairly well.

But it is too short. Yes, I know it's not supposed to be long, but it was still felt lacking in size even for a Instant book, and could probably have touched subjects before ending the book, at least included a few pages about utilities and not just mentioning and saying it won't be covered in the book.
