Despite having lost half her soul, coven leader Jade Calhoun is determined to lead a regular life, and that means planning her wedding. With just five weeks until the big event, plans are halted when Jade falls victim to a ghost possession. Unfortunately, it appears the only way to keep the ghost at bay is to spend twenty-four hours a day with the last person Jade wants to share a house with—the angel who has the other half of her soul.
Things go from bad to worse when the ghost targets Jade’s friends and her fiancé, Kane. The ghost is using sex magic to steal Jade’s power, and she’ll stop at nothing to get what she wants. Even if it means forcing Jade into the arms of another man. In order to banish the ghost, fix her soul, and have a chance at her happy ending, Jade will need to find her father and uncover the decades-old secret her mother is determined to keep hidden.

Angels of Bourbon Street By Deanna Chase This book is #4 in the series and wraps up some major issues from previous books and starts new issues. Boy, her mom who she went through hell to save in earlier books is a real creep! Not Mom of the Year, for sure! Enjoyable read. Good narration.
I enjoy these books and I like most of the characters because they have been able to grow as the series has moved forward, then there are some I could do without sometimes. Being set in New Orleans makes this work perfectly for the way things seem to go for everyone here. I have never been but every time I read one of these books I can imagine that I an visiting the French Quarter or the Garden District because of the vivid descriptions of the locales. I chose to listen and read because it does make it so much easier to keep the story going when I am on the go. I can listen in my office at work while still being productive and relaxed.
Jade has been left with only half her soul because of circumstances beyond her control, even though she was doing the right thing. But she decides that nothing is going to stop her from marrying the man of her dreams, Kane. Well things never go smoothly for Jade no matter how much she wants it to.
Jade is possessed by the ghost residing in Kane's family home while making arrangements for her wedding. Though they are able to save her once it becomes clear that in her weakened state she is easy prey. Now she will have to live with the person who has the other half of her soul in order to keep her safe, but that does not help her friends.
The narrator, Traci Odom, does a great job of bringing the characters to life, both male and female. If you have enjoyed the first three books in this series then you will enjoy the continued adventures of this new to her craft witch.
2.5 Stars Just... Wow! This book was super dark. Jade is facing a ghost that's possessing her and her friends. Creating a very dark situation at one point. Left me in a bit of shock. I truly never expected it. I wish the book was a little less extreme and dramatic. I think I spent a good portion of the book stressed out.
Everyone has had to face big challenges in this novel. Some big changes take place and cause a lot of havoc. I feel horrible about Ian's fate and I hope the next book can bring our ghost crazy boy back to semi-normal. The author has decimated him!
I'm missing the slightly more easy-going (in comparison) nature of the first 2 books.
I came dangerously close to disliking everyone in this series, especially Jade and her mother. Mostly her mother. And yet I could not put the book down. Chase took this group of whiners and self absorbed nitwits in a very interesting direction. I am curious to see if we see some actually character growth from Jade and crew. I have given up on her mother. She keeps trying to pass off her selfishness as selflessness and I am no longer buying what she is selling
2.5 stars. I'm not going to lie, this book frustrated me. Just to much yelling, anger, mixed emotions and plain nonsense happens in this book. Probably more than half the book, Jade is angry, yelling and then crying. I guess I'm just reading because of Kane, otherwise I would've dnf.
Honestly, if I were Kane, I would chuck the protagonist's whiny butt out the nearest window...however, the story does manage to pick up toward the end.
I have been liking this series, then I started this story. I feel like Jade got stupid in this one. It seemed like she had no idea what was going on, or what could happen when making certain choices.
Angels of Bourbon Street by Deanna Chase is a 2013 Bayou Moon Publication. I was provided a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review
Oh dear, just when Jade manages to get Roy's ghost under control she finds herself being possessed by another powerful entity. She manages to escape the first time, but it's determined that with her weakened condition, she will not last much longer if drastic steps aren't taken. So, what to do? She will need a little bit of her mother's soul and a little bit of her father's too. Wait.. her father? This development opens up a whole new pandora's box of secrets about Jade's family and her why her father was not there to raise her. In the meantime, the search is on for Jade's father and she is fighting tooth and nail to keep from being possessed by this ghost whose antics are causing major problems for Jade and her good friend Pyper. Will Jade find her father in time? If so, will he help? There will be some huge jaw dropping revelations in this one so fasten your seat belts for yet another wild and turbulent ride in the life of Jade Calhoun.
This is another outstanding installment in this series. Great set up, lots of drama and suspense and Jade's life takes a on yet another direction you will never see coming. With every book I read in this series more I like it . Well done!
Still love the world that Chase has created and the characters who inhabit it. Jade did start to get on my nerves a little with her constant compulsion to run, collapse, or zone out in some form or fashion that caused her to get into a worse bind than before. I was pretty much siding with Piper in her assessment of Jade. But the other characters did not let me down nor did the set up for the next book in this series. Can't wait to see how it plays out and what Jade and Kane's new "jobs" entail.
I'm getting a little disappointed. I really enjoyed the first two books, but these last two have been a bit of a struggle to get through. They are an easy read, and keeps my interest, at times. This one had way too much turmoil and build-up for it just to end. I feel like the author could have a really interesting story line on just the characters without any "strife" happening in their lives. But that's just my opinion.
I read the first three books back to back. I liked them well enough but when I started reading this one, I realized why I was hoping this was a trilogy. I don't like Jade. There's just something about her that doesn't sit well with me. I like her friends. Maybe there could be a spin-off series about the coven or about Piper, but I don't think I can stomach her thru the last two books. This one will be my last.
I liked this, but it was a bit busy for me. So much happening in such a short time. And I love Jade, but there were times I just wanted to smack her and say get over yourself. Sigh.
Trouble seems to find Jade everywhere. This is such a fast pace listen. A secret is finally revealed while Jade and her friends are battling a troublesome ghost!! All while trying to prepare for a wedding as well!! Whew so much to get done but will they be able to banish the unfriendly ghost and fix Jade? The narrator is Tracj Odom and her narration was okay but when she portrayed Camille’s voice it was very high pitched and not at all pleasant to listen too. Thankfully Camille’s voice wasn’t used as much. I did listen to the narration at a faster pace because I felt like there was more of a southern drawl.
Awesome story! Jade, Kane, Pyper, Kat, Lailah and family and friends are about to experience lots of unusual things. As Jade and Kane plan their wedding with friends and family a lot of secrets will be revealed and lots of unusual things will happen. Friends will do things they would normally not do and Jade’s soul is at stake. With all the happenings and twists to the story the reader will learn secrets and lives are about to change in many ways. I recommend this book and the entire Jade Calhoun series!
Jade losing half her soul is coming back to haunt her, in a rather literal way, as she learns the hard way that it makes her easily susceptible to ghostly possession. Her friends and family struggle to keep her safe as she tries not to become a Bridezilla while planning her wedding to Kane. The further I got into the book, the more exciting I found it, and the ending left me very excited for the next book. Thank goodness it's already out and I don't have to wait!
Jade Calhoun is planning her wedding to Kane when a ghost from his home decides to possess Jade because Jade is still dealing with her half a soul. It turns out that she is part angel as well as witch. This ghost is creating a lot of havoc in her and her friend's life so they need to find a way to possibly get Jade's complete soul back.
I haven't read one of these books in this series in a while and each time I am so drawn into the world building which is a bit different than others of this type.
Halfway through this book I was sure I was going to give it a low rating. I was so frustrated by the choices some of the characters made, I was exhausted by ALL of the chaos and drama and was taken back by a topic covered. But after finishing the book, I realized if a book can me me feel all those things and still care about the characters then it is essentially a good book. I also intend to continue the series and love the background of New Orleans, a city I adore!
I gave up on this about halfway through. I loved the first two books in the series and the third was ok, then I stopped reading it for several years. I started this book in 2019 and abandoned it and then I tried picking this book in 2023 and I just couldn't get into it. I never liked the half a soul thing, and I was getting really tired of all of the surrounding characters, so I think it's time for me to give up on this series.
So many unanswered questions about Jane's family were resolved but in true Deanna Chase style, it only leads to more chaos. All in all though, I am pretty used to that myself so I don't find it a stretch. I'm fact, that may be one of the reasons I like this series so much.
It's difficult not to feel for Jade in the whole of this book. He soul and her very life compromised, betrayed in more ways than one, this book is gut-wrenching and heartbreaking on so many levels! Not only for Jade, but for many other characters as well.
Splendidly written by Deanna Chase.
And I think we all want someone like Kane in our lives.
Audiobook review: Entertaining story with an interesting storyline and captivating characters. The narrator did a fantastic job with providing unique voices for each character and appropriate tone inflections for each scene. I received a free copy of this audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
I must try not to leave such a long time between books as it took me way to long to remember who everyone was and how they fitted in, but apart from that I forgot how good this series is and am looking forward to getting back into. Especially with the ending of this one, as it's looking interesting.
I love this series the writing and character building is so good. It’s a really enjoyable series to read they get better as they go on. It’s great to see Jade fighting back and not giving up especially with a ghost chasing her and friends as well as planning a wedding. Recommend for those witch story lovers.
