Karli Crispin grew up in the small beach town of Lewes, Delaware. She moved away from home to attend James Madison University, where she earned a bachelors degree in International Affairs. She always dreamed of traveling the world and in March of 2022, she booked a one way ticket to Thailand, and started her journey of traveling to nine countries on her own. She has met some interesting characters along the way--some who have inspired some of the poems in her first book 'poems written by a late bloomer.' As an avid observer of the human experience, Karli's home changes from month to month as she searches for her next adventure; whether it be motorbiking in northern Vietnam or living on a deserted island off of the coast of Indonesia.
Finished, practically inhaled this book and wanted to read it all over. Such beautiful poems, articulating my own emotions better than I ever could. The chronological order was also so precious
This was superb. I love poetry, and love writing about the human experience myself. Crispin delivers a beautiful examination of what it feels like to fall in love, and marries it together with fantastic illustrations. I really enjoyed the narrative-like structure to the poems as well. It felt like a true journey, one that was relatable, well-written, and emotional.
This poetry was so beautiful! Love is powerful and stunning and feely. I recommend this to anyone who wants to read poetry that’s not super poised or sophisticated — it’s perfectly and stunningly casual and honest and real.
I loved this book! It’s beautiful and REAL, which makes it so relatable. Crispin has a very creative way of telling a story. I love the way this book is organized and the illustrations, which are also done by her, are incredible. I’m so impressed by her!
This poetry was beautifully written and I loved the unraveling of this long distance couples story. I read this book with my boyfriend and there were a few poems that were relatable and it was so heart warming
