Princess Leona is no ordinary fairytale princess. Or rather, she is “too” ordinary (not to mention boring and dull) to be a true fairy tale princess. As she journeys through the Dark Woods on a fool’s errand for the Wicked Witch of the West in search of some rare nettle pollen, she befriends all sorts’ colorful characters that run the entire gamut of fairytaledom, and discovers that there is more to her character and personal strength than meets the eye.
In this fast paced adventure witches, wizards, trolls, leprechauns, dark nights and even the occasional vampire clash in a fight for your laughter while weaving a magical tale that is sure to leave your head spinning and put a smile on your face.
This is a fun book to read because the author has a great way of writing. I am going to be on the look out for more from this author. Great story, if it is a little short....
2.5 stars. I liked this little story at first, but for it being only 13 pages, the interruptive style got really old really fast. Already annoyed, I was thrown out entirely as soon as they started using the M-word and kept on using it again and again and again - I got the feeling the leprechaun was going to be mistaken for a little person regularly and I'd have to keep reading that derogatory term, so that was it for me.
I think the story itself, told a bit differently, would actually be a lot of fun, because the basic plot idea is clever. But I'm not going to move on with this series.
Cute Grimms style fairy tale. Only 13 pages, and sadly unfinished as it was published as an episode. Not sure if the second volume (the only other one published) completes the story or not. It was a fun read though.
Leona is a princess. She is a princess who is bored in the castle and goes outside the grounds to the ancient forest to visit her friend the witch; only the witch does not share her friendship. Leona wants to be her apprentice. The witch had given Leona the task of collecting nettle pollen from across the dark wood, what could go wrong? Surely meeting a troll in the woods can’t be good? The narrator writes several times how stupid and average Leona is. She can’t be that dim if she is able to talk a witch into making her an apprentice and a troll her bodyguard. Soon she meets a leprechaun…. What will she talk him into?
and then it turned out to be a serial instead of a book one of a series. so... yeah, i don't know. there was like two chapters and poof. 'to be continued.' so if you want a sample before you buy, this is it. (wait, it's 99 cents now? well, i got it as a freebie. or else i got an even shorter version? 13 pages sounds about right.)
