4 Musical Stars!
 photo 246c46e7-9fa4-4639-983c-534c7808f3cd_zpscb99832f.jpg

Catch Me is an emotional, beautifully written story that will have you laughing, crying and swooning. This book captivated me from the beginning and I couldn’t stop reading. A terrific blend of drama, angst, sexy and sweet with a leading guy that will make you melt!

Brooklyn appears to have it all. She owns her own company where she successfully custom makes microphones, she also recruits musicians for her father’s large record company, Harmon Records. She has an eye (or ear) for it, and she’s good at what she does. Brooklyn has a past. Rewind eight years... The one person in Brooklyn’s life who has always been there for her, always had her back no matter what is gone. Ryan was more than her best friend. Losing him, well, it puts her world in a tailspin. She doesn’t know where to turn or what to do and she makes some questionable decisions.

 photo 5b5ab9eb-a302-4956-a961-87b1806a11d5_zps0e499aa3.jpg

Luckily, with a little hope and a little help, she straightens herself out. Brooklyn has a good life in LA, but her father needs her in NY to help with recruiting new musicians. She decided to go, stay with her brother Hendrix for a while. While there, she runs into her ex boyfriend/hook up and current friend, Shea. Shea is a musician. He is hot, sweet, and really cares for Brooklyn. But he’s not the guy for her. Shea introduces her to his new producer, Nick Wilde. She and Nick meet, and Brooklyn feels something she’s never felt before.
I don't know what it is about him that makes me want to grab his face in place so that he'll never look at anything but me. I'm not sure what bothers me more: the realization or the fact I can't remember feeling this way about anyone before him.

You could just feel the sparks between Nick and Brooklyn. They had amazing chemistry, but it was a slow burn between the two. Lots of build up and sexual tension. They spend a lot of time together, it’s clear Nick wants Brooklyn. He wants her to be his and only his. Brooklyn’s not sure if she’s ready for something like that. She’s never been in that kind of relationship, something real, something serious. It’s scary for her.

Nick Nick Nick... I just loved Nick dearly! He was soooo swoony! Seriously, this guy was just amazing! He was patient with Brooklyn, sweet and supportive of her. But he also had a bit of an alpha male side. You can tell how much he truly cares for his beautifully broken girl. He was also very funny. And when he stood up to her mom... it was amazing! Then there is the song... the song just made me melt.

 photo d7842aa3-6106-49db-a7e8-d6bbe91291c0_zpsb3438f82.jpg

Brooklyn was also a fantastic character. She had been through a lot, but she was strong and determined. Not only are the two main characters great, there is a slue of secondary characters that I fell in love with! One in particular is Shea. I felt for him. Though there was one scene he royally pissed me off, I still adored his character! Brooklyn’s brother Hendrix, and her cousin Nina were both great as well.

Watching Brooklyn be able to open up, and seeing her and Nick’s relationship develop was a beautiful thing. He really was exactly the type of person she needed in her life.

This was an engaging and beautiful love story about finding yourself, healing, and always having hope. The writing was superb, there were a few little twists and turns that kept things interesting, and off the charts swoon and romance. Claire Contreas is one of those authors that has a way with words. All of her books just hook me, and I can’t put them down. She makes you really feel her characters, along with all sorts of emotions! I would highly recommend!

"Once upon a time I would’ve killed to feel numb, like I do now. I would’ve reveled in the abyss of emptiness that fills my heart. The fear of the unknown would’ve made me want to kill myself. Again. But now I feel nothing. I’ve been stripped of everything that matters and I’m left with nothing. So much of nothing that I don’t want to end my life in some dramatic, painful way because I’d rather let myself marinate in the bleakness for a little while longer. When I’m ready I’ll begin to feel again, and I’ll feel much more suffering than I would if I just ended it all right now."

Another brilliant story from Claire Contreras!

I loved this book! Its so well written.
Claire always writes these deep sad books which gets you hooked till the end and even then you want more....

Brooklyn Harmon has it all...
Money, fancy house, fancy cars...
All sounds great right? We know know that all of this comes at a price.
Unloving parents who have no time for her, a socialite mother who thinks she's not good enough or not thin enough.

Her days as a teen is spent with her fake boyfriend who is actually gay and as she gets older the only other relationship she has is with her rockstar BFF/Fcuk buddy Shea.

Each with issues of their own they divulge themselves in drugs to numb the pain and tragedy hit leaving Brooke to the lowest point hanging on the thread of her life... Until she gets...

"Depression is a cruel bitch. She starts by planting little seeds all over your mind, knowing that life’s troubles will water it daily until it grows into a massive bonsai tree that crowds your thoughts and feelings, not leaving any room for leaves of hope to spur from it."

Now... As time passes, all she can do is put the pieces back together. To feel good about herself, accept her body...

In the music industry she's in, people are sharks, people can't be trusted and only want a piece of you.

When Brooke meets Nick a producer who works with Shea, she doesn't know that he might be the light in her darkness...

"I’ve been kissed a million times, yet none at all. That’s how this kiss makes me feel. Like I’m freefalling, like I’m dying, like I’m breathing for the first time. Like I’m high on ecstasy and a million expert hands are massaging me. This kiss is my life."

The guy who would CATCH HER if she fell...

Only Brooke must believe what she feels...
They romance is hot, sweet, funny and worth the risk!

I cannot explain how much I thoroughly enjoyed this book.
I might be in depression because its over.

This is by far the most dragged out story I have ever read. I’ve been very patient and even if I wanted to ‘dnf’ it, I still decided to finish hoping it'd redeem itself but it hadn't. Everything had been so repetitive. Seriously, it frustrated me as hell of how damn repetitive things were.

Everything was just too detailed about mundane things the heroine notices on her surroundings or what she's currently doing. She puts it into step by step descriptions and loves tuning out real conversations while her mind wanders all the time. She's been doing that for the first 20% (I'm telling you this is a too lengthy novel and 20% has a lot of pages) and the hero's still almost non-existent. All that he's been doing is “staring, looking at her, searching her face, sometimes smiling, sometimes saying hi, hello, see you later”... you get what I mean? The story was all over the place. It almost… almost had no direction. I kept telling myself, “Where’s this heading now?”… There were too many unnecessary things going to the point that if this story was shortened into half, it’d have a lot more sense.

Around 30%, nothing had changed much, but you know, she still loves describing what happens on her day like cooking, what she's cooking, or where she's going to eat, doing her job, listening for a potential talent, answering phone calls, dozing off, describing what her outfits look like, her friend always praising how great she looks. Then, a little bit of flirting begins, but it will be halted by her lifelong inner dialogues describing how his eyes look or his ass, or his smile... Yep, describing it repeatedly almost every time she sees him.

And when I thought that they could finally have their connection, they would have these short lame banters while the heroine would proceed again on her inner dialogues about what they have done the rest of the conversation… Then suddenly, they held each other's hands, looked into each other's eyes. He blinked, she blinked and that's it... she's in love! I could go on and on but I don't want to imitate her and go into too much detail as well...

This heroine was something else. I know she's got a fucked up past but I didn't feel for her. No connection with her (or to anyone in this book). There's no character depth. I was so annoyed with all her crying or tears pooling in her eyes almost all throughout the book. She’s not likeable and was so damn sensitive. I kept on going with the hope that maybe there'd be character development but none at all. I was curious with what really happened to her in the past and when I found out, I wasn't shocked or anything. I'm not saying that the things that happened before weren't a big deal because they were. It's just that the way they were written and revealed fell flat for me. Maybe because it already dragged out that it became just boring.

And I have to go back to this hero named Nick (I forgot his last name)... Well, okay, he talks dirty perhaps. Maybe, he could be swoon-worthy. But I'd rather want more depth from him like I wanted to know him as a person. It's not just about the steamy sex because there are loads of those from other books as well. There's got to be something that would make him stand out or at least be different from the rest. Besides, he said a lot of cheezy and cliche lines nothing that I haven’t read before. Also, I wasn’t convinced that they’re already in love in just a short period amount of time. I’m not convinced with the instant connection and was even annoyed with the heroine feeling like she had the right to be jealous already but when Nick would try to explain, she’d shut him up telling him, “No, it’s fine you don’t have to explain.” *rolls eyes*. And I felt like Nick somehow still had his hidden motive even if he had denied it...

Anyway, I wasn't convinced with the whole story. It lacked believability. In the end, it's either I like it or I don't... But you know, it’s just my opinion… I have a feeling I’m going to be in the minority.

"I just wanted you to be real."

Nothing like having an author rework an older book to bring it to your attention and since I love Claire Contreras, I was all too willing to check it out! (BTW...this was originally released as Catch Me.)

Brooklyn's family is all about music and money and certain expectations are demanded from her especially after having a rough few years. Brooklyn takes everything in stride even when her father tells her she has to go work in the New York offices right away.

She first meets Nick at the airport and then later at her family's recording studio and there's quite the connection between the two of them. But...he seems to have a girlfriend or is a player and that's so not Brooklyn...she's too busy anyway.

Fortunately, her ex and best friend, Shea, just happens to be working with Nick so they are thrown together quite frequently. When they see each other at a club, things get a little heated, however, they both take a step back to make sure they each are single.

description

The story goes back and forth a little between the past and present. We slowly get to know about Brooklyn's friend, Ryan, and become all too aware that something major happened...and it uprooted Brooklyn's life. I really liked the twist concerning this, I just wish we got a little more depth.

There's some drama with both her female best friend and her male. I was a little sad at the female fall out but the male really threw me!

Drama aside, Nick and Brooklyn are really sweet together...and HOT! Nick is really very Alpha but I loved how they connected on the emotional level.

The story wraps up really well and I was really intrigued by the "new" couple. Hopefully, they will get a book...hint, hint. Also, wouldn't mind ones for Nick's brothers!

♦ Side note...this is one of the songs/singers mentioned in the book. I really love the lyrics and she does sing really well!

Maybe I’m okay with being a crazy person. I’d rather be crazy than perfect. There’s no excitement in perfection.

Brooklyn is the daughter a music icon -the creator of Harmon Records and a famous fashion model. It feels like this is the only way people see her. She has always been under a lot of pressure and scrutiny. When she meets her best friend, Ryan it feels like he’s the first person she could really connect with who cared about her for her, but when she loses him unexpectedly, it turns her world upside down. She was pulled down by the pain, loneliness, and depression.
Sadness envelopes my heart, with each step I take, and I welcome it. Sadness is my home, I belong in it, it belongs in me; we are one and the same.

Now, eight years later, Brooklyn is twenty-five and moving to New York to put her natural talent for recruiting to good use for her father’s record label. Her older brother, Hendrix, and cousin Nina live there so she is excited for this change, but is also feeling the pressure to prove herself. On her way to NYC, Brooklyn runs into her oldest friend, Shea. You can immediately tell that they have a very complicated history. They dated on and off, but Brooklyn couldn’t compete with his partying lifestyle and the hoards of woman Shea had a hard time saying no to. Despite their ups and downs, the two have stayed best friends and although they are both very messed up and have had to deal with their awful parents; they’ve always leant on each other. Especially since Shea was also friends with Ryan and knows what Brooklyn went through losing him.

Oh, and did I mention that Shea is one of the hottest musicians at the moment and is recording his newest album at her studios? Yeah. And when Shea introduces Brooklyn to his recorder producer, Nick Wilde sparks fly! Between run ins at work and around the city, the sexual tension is through the roof. The flirting, the small touches, the subtle and not so subtly innuendos, fleeting glances, and soft whispers are all very present. There is a lot of build up and the whole time I was just DYING for something to happen with them!
“I really, really want to kiss you, Brooklyn,” he murmurs, his voice raspy and soft and filled with need. “I really, really want to.”
“So do it,” I whisper against his lip.
He shakes his head, rubbing the tip of his nose against mine. “I don’t want to share you,”
“I’m not yours to share,” I breathe.
“That’s why I’m not going to kiss you,” he whispers against me, so close I can practically taste his tongue on mine.

Nick is simply amazing. He is confident, without being cocky. He’s a bit mysterious in the beginning, but opens up beautifully as the story progresses. Their relationship is really well developed and I couldn’t get enough of him. There are bumps along the way and Brooklyn has to face many of her own personal demons brought on my years of not feeling good enough (because her mom is a terrible person) and being so alone. I loved how he was with Brooklyn though, always knowing just what she needed.

Although I loved the build up of the romance, it did at times get a bit too much in Brooklyn’s head for me. Her inner monologues could get long even during dialogue - to the point that I didn’t remember what the question was by the time she answered it. I also thought the book was longer than it needed to be. There aren’t particular scenes I would have removed, just some of that repetitive longing. This book deals with some really serious, dark subjects and while I think exploring the characters issues and feeling is important, it did feel long at times.

Catch Me features some of the best characters I’ve encountered in a while. Claire really knows how to write dialogue and relationships in a way that made me connect on a deep level with each of them. Hendrix and Nina didn’t feel like side characters. They are such a huge part of why I loved this book. It was so much fun when the three them were together.

“What’s up, bithces?” She greets. “You got coffee? Or are hens not domesticated?”
Hendrix grumbles something that sounds like “fucking moron” under his breath as he reaches in the cabinet to get her a mug.
“Sweeeet,” Nina says placing her mug on the table and serving herself coffee. “I like this mug, you asshole.”
I laugh, covering my mouth with both hands to keep the cereal from sputtering out of my mouth when I read the mug he handed her: I am surrounded by fucking idiots.
“You can thank Bee, she gave it to me for Christmas,” Hendrix says.
Nina rolls her big brown eyes at us. “Why do I hang out with you? You guys are so fucking weird.”
“Because you have no friends,” Hendrix comments.
“Because you love us,” I say at the same time.
Hendrix makes a face. “That’s not corny,” he says, looking at me.

And of course, Shea! He is such a major part of the story and I really loved it because I just loved him and cared so deeply for what he was going through as well. He is snarky and inappropriate, but I loved that him and Brooklyn had such a deep connection. It really got to me at times, giving me some major cases of the feeeeels. Brooklyn also surprised me. At first you could say I thought she might be a little weak, but as I kept reading I really grew to like her. I could admire and respect her for facing her issues and doing what she needs to do move on.

I really enjoyed this story. The romance and steam were great, the characters were lovable, and the twists interesting. The drama and angst are definitely present, but thankfully it never felt over the top. I felt emotionally connected to the story and would definitely recommend it.

With the fun dialogue and characters, I’m really hoping to see some of them get their own books. I really appreciate this being a stand alone, but with how attached I got to them, I can’t deny I’d love to hear Shea, Nina, and Hendrix’s stories.

DNF @38%. Had this one on the kindle from ages ago and I regret not reading it back then. I think I may have liked it if I had read it years ago, when my tastes were more open and greener. Now, I guess I’m not a fan of the way both MC’s handle their attraction to each other and I got bored. And the hot cover doesn’t look like how the book describes the H at all. What’s with that?

Slow and steady, but ultimately a beautiful story.

Brooklyn is the beautiful, rich and successful daughter of a music legend and a model. She is also emotionally damaged and battling huge demons. Told entirely from Brooklyn's POV, there is a lot of time spent in her head, and it’s sometimes heavy reading. She’s very emotional, sometimes suffers from depression, carries a lot of sadness, rejection and guilt, and she spends a lot of time ruminating about it all. But I really liked her.

“I read somewhere that by the age of twenty-five, women are more sure of themselves, more comfortable in their own skin. Sometimes I want to find the person that wrote that and stab her in the eye with a rusty fork”

Yep, Brooklyn has issues, and while some of these are revealed early on, others are hinted at and are uncovered as the story progresses. But pretty quickly we learn that Brooklyn has lived in the shadow of her parents, and been pretty much ignored by them unless her mother is criticising her or they need her to ‘perform’. She has also had to deal with the tragic loss of a loved one, as well as people latching on to her because of her family, and therefore, justifiably, has some pretty big trust issues. So she has a very small group of people around her that she keeps close – her big brother Hendrix, cousin Nina and her rock star best friend/ex lover, Shea. And what an absolutely sensational bunch of characters!! All very different, they each bring so much to the story, and I love each of them.

When Brooklyn’s father sends her to New York to work as Director of Talent for his recording company, as much as she doesn’t want to leave her home in LA, she sees it as an opportunity for a fresh start. So she goes, moving in her brother, partying with Nina, and catching up with Shea who is in town recording an album with his friend – the very sexy Producer, Nick.

From the moment Brooklyn and Nick meet there are serious sparks and a whole lot of discrete touches and eye fuckery going on. Nick is smooth, confident and oh so sexy, and he makes it very clear that he wants Brooklyn. But while the UST between them is steaming, things take a while to progress, and it’s frustrating as all hell! I wanted to scream at them ‘JUST GET IT ON ALREADY!’.

“Have you worked with her?”
“I hope to,” he says with a smile that makes jealousy bubble up inside of me, which is so stupid…
“Professionally,” he adds, near my ear again in a way that makes my insides tingle at his voice.
“I didn’t say anything,” I protest quietly.
“You didn’t have to,” he responds just as low.

I have to say, I got a bit annoyed with all of the time spent in Brooklyn’s head while she thinks about how hot Nick is. There is some good banter between them, but it’s fleeting. And even when they do talk, there will be one line spoken, and then there is so much ruminating about how sexy he is and how he makes her feel, that by the time somebody else says something, I had to flick back to remind myself what they are responding to so that I could follow the conversation.

But thankfully, when their hook up finally comes, it felt like the entire mood of the book changes. For a start, they are absolutely gorgeous together! Brooklyn is a lot happier, there is less of her inner musings, there is more dialogue between them, and we get to see just how incredible Nick is. The man is absolutely amazing, and he is exactly what Brooklyn needs – dominant but incredibly caring and supportive of her, they have fun together, they are good for each other, and things are certainly rocking in the bedroom!

“Tell me you’re mine,” he says, his voice a strained whisper. “Tell me that this-,” he says, fully sliding his cock into me, the fullness it provides making my legs shake uncontrollably. “Is mine”

Oh yeah! There is much hotness to be had! But Brooklyn’s past still haunts her and she still has a lot to overcome, as well as new challenges to face, and I LOVE the way that Nick is there for her the whole way. He doesn’t play games, he admits how he feels, and he ‘gets’ her and is not prepared to give up on her, and the swoon is absolutely beautiful.

“I’m going to take her home with me every single day to remind her that my heart beats only for her. That my day starts with her running through my mind and ends with her sleeping in my arms.“

Definitely a worthy addition to my collection of book boyfriends!

I really like Brooklyn, too. She’s a complex character, and even though I was annoyed with her at times, you have to admire her tenacity and her determination to keep going. Yeah, she has her meltdowns, but she’s been through some really tough times and she drags herself up and is brave enough to grab what she wants, and I really like that about her.

One of the best parts about this book, for me, was watching the dynamic between the characters. They aren’t just side characters, they are incredibly important to the story, and I thought that each of them were really well developed, and I loved every moment with them.

Shea, in particular, plays a huge part in the story. A manwhoring rock star, he and Brooklyn have an incredibly history, and I love that things between them have developed to the point where they are best friends, and are each other’s rocks. They have a huge soft spot for each other, and you can see the genuine love and tenderness between them – he even calls her “my girl” *dreamy sigh*. This book follows Shea’s journey as well, and my heart broke for him a few times. But I thought the shift in dynamic when Brooklyn and Nick hook up was really well done, and I loved watching it all play out.

Brooklyn also has a fantastic relationship with her big brother, Hendrix. He is gorgeously protective of her, but he doesn’t take any shit, and he has a brilliantly sarcastic sense of humour. And then there is her cousin Nina who is rude, crude and has absolutely no filter. She’s freaking hilarious, and pretty much everything that comes out of her mouth is pure gold!

“Men are fucking stupid. That’s why they think women are complicated. Women want three things: Keep your dick in your pants. Be honest with us. Worship us. That’s it. That’s all. You motherfuckers can’t do all three without getting your brain mixed up”

There are a few surprises in this book, and my heart broke a few times. And at one point I think it actually shattered. I think I actually wailed ‘OH MY GOD!’ out loud. But never fear! There is a happy ending, and no cliffhanger – although I thought it finished a bit abruptly, and I flicked the page expecting it to go on. So I wouldn’t be surprised if there are going to be further books about some of the other characters.

There's a lot that goes on in this story, and I really liked it. It’s emotional, it’s got a great mix of drama, (minimal) angst and light moments, with a gorgeous romance, and incredible friendships. Claire Contreras does relationships really well, and she nailed that part of it brilliantly. It’s a beautiful story, and I still can't stop thinking about it the day after.

4 stars.

It's no secret that I'm a huge fan of Claire Contreras, so when I saw that she was writing Catch Me, I was thrilled. Her first duet, There is No Light in Darkness & Darkness Before Dawn, is on my favorites of 2013 list, and I was so excited to see what she was going to do with a new, stand alone novel. Well, let me tell you, Catch Me more than lived up to the hype.

No matter what Claire writes, her stories always pack a punch, and Catch Me is no different. I was already crying in the prologue, and I knew I was in for an intense ride by the first chapter, and I wasn't wrong. Twenty-five year old Brooklyn, the daughter of a music mogul and former fashion model, she's never wanted for a thing...except for maybe love and acceptance from her neglectful parents. Her father bullies her into working for him, and her mom is constantly throwing eligible men in her face, trying to get her to settle down with someone 'suitable.' All the while, Brooklyn just wants to run her own business, completely out of her parent's shadow, but despite how strong she seems, she just can't seem to tell her father no, so she soon finds herself living in New York with her brother, Hendrix, and near her cousin and good friend, Nina.

Her best friend/former lover, Shea, comes back in the picture, but who knows, Brooklyn included, what he really wants. The interesting part of his reappearance is the sexy music producer, Nick Wilde, that he's working with. I loved both Brooklyn and Nick individually, but as a couple, they were on fire. Nick and Brooklyn have an immediate attraction, and it's not long before they're spending time together, exploring it. I have to say that I loved their chemistry from the very beginning. The sexual tension between them radiated off my Kindle and these two were certainly explosive when they finally came together.

All the while, Brooklyn is still dealing with the fallout and depression from a tragedy that she experienced when she was a teenager, and the twists and turns that she weaves through the pages had my mind reeling. I thought I knew what was happening, but she proved me wrong time and time again-in a good way.

Despite her issues, Brooklyn is a really strong heroine that I loved, but I have to say, Nick Wilde takes the freaking cake in this book. He's gorgeous, successful, and he goes after what he wants, no matter what. He also has a slightly possessive side that I found to be so freaking hot and I just couldn't get enough of him. He's completely perfect, and you simply must meet him.

One thing that I love about Claire's books is that she always knows how to create an incredible world around her main characters. The secondary characters in this book are fantastic and I cannot wait to get more of Shea, Hendrix, Nina, and hopefully Nick's brothers.

Catch Me is not a book to be missed. It's a beautifully touching, albeit, slightly tragic tale of one woman's struggle with overcoming obstacles so that she can find her true happiness, and the man who wants nothing more than to give it to her. I laughed, I cried, I swooned more times than I can count, and more than anything, my heart was full of complete joy when I read the end. I would recommend this to anyone who loves a beautiful story that tugs at your heartstrings. This one definitely delivers.

11/13/13- I absolutely LOVED this book. I laughed, I cried, I swooned so many freaking times I had to fan myself just to cool off! Full review to come with the blog tour!

11/11/13--This is on my Kindle! Initiate Freak Out! I'm so excited to meet HIM! Thank you, Claire Contreras for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Just like i promised; here is the review :)

Catch Me by Claire Contreras
Kindle Edition, 361 pages
Published November 17th 2013
Claire Contreras never cease to surprise me! after reading (There is No Light in Darkness) and Darkness Before Dawn) i said okay she'll never be able to surpass that! but WRONG. I really like Claire, she's such a talented author, finding all the right ways to deliver such an outstanding, and unique story.
It's actually harder than you think rating a book for me, after finishing , i just sit there staring at those stars! 5-4-3-2-1? WHICH ONE? then i review my feelings, my thoughts, if anything were missing. If not-such as in this case i give it WHOLE DESERVED 5 STARS.

Brooklyn does not has an easy life despite being super rich and popular. Her whole life, she's been giving everything she'll ever want. Money,Traveling, partying everything... but no one really gave her what she really needed.. Love, affection, understanding. Except really her best friend/fake boyfriend Ryan from When they were teenagers but unfortunately, because of their life style of partying, and neglecting, she finds her self without her best friends that understood her, so her life took a deep, twisted turn due to that.

Shea is Brooklyn... bestfriend? past love? past fuck-buddy?
I think all of the above. They had music, bad life, horrible moms growing up, so i think that they felt like this united them in some way. So they hang out ALOT, Shea introduces Brooklyn to a word of sex, drugs, and getting high. don't get me wrong, i honestly believe that he loved her, but not enough to save both of them, so he did the only thing he can do.. getting high, and fuck... everybody.
The God rock is truly a sad victim in my opinion, i really sympathized with him, on some deep, twisted level, i really felt connect more to his character that any other in this novel. And reading about how he's screwing his life away, i really extremely sad and protective of him! i wanted a different fate for him, and i'm glad that the author wrote a sprinkle of hope at the very end for him. In the future, i really would want a novel about him and his future. ♥

Nick is suppose to be the swoon, male in this novel, but i got to say as much as yummy as the writer wrote him to be, i didn't feel connected to him as a character. He didn't leave that stamp on my memory - Sorry Nick lovers...
He's Shea’s producer and naturally Brooklyn met him when he had a women wrapped into him. He's a ladies man, and a playboy. But it seems that Brooklyn has affected him on a level even HE couldn't understand. The same goes for her.

“So what if he looks like a God himself sauntered down here and sprinkled gold all over him. So what if he smells like one of those little ads that come in GQ magazine for men to sniff the next perfume of their choice? He could totally model for one of those ads too.”

Nick really one of those mysterious characters that i couldn't figure out even after i get to know him, and how he was with Brooklyn! it's a first for me i must say. And maybe because i couldn't feel connected to him that i didn't even made the effort to know him. BUT nonetheless Brooklyn was captivated by him, from the outside as well as the inside. Turns out that he has normal family, and siblings.. nice family but she later on finds out that she knew him before she actually met him for "the first time"

I really don't want to get too much into the novel while writing this review. One of the most things that i loved about this novel was that the author wrote a complicated novel, with past, future, present events, and many emotions involved but i really didn't feel lost at all, nor did i feel bored; so that was a huge plus for me.

Parents play such a huge part in this novel. The seeking of approval, seeking the love that wasn't given to them. The majority of the characters are living under their parents's shadow; so it was really interesting seeing how they over come that but unfortunately some of them couldn't which cost some their lives and almost cost others their lives.

Bottom line. AWESOME.BOOK.
Read it, And if you know me, you'll know that i won't give a false recommendation.

Catch Me is one of these books that hold a great potential, that sadly it is not entirely used. Phenomenal blurb made me believe Claire Contreras’ book could rock my world, but unfortunately it lost me somewhere in the middle. This story didn’t seem to fascinate me enough to hold my interest for a very long time. It certainly wasn’t bad or tedious, it just wasn’t very unique. In the hundreds of books I’m reading per year, a novel really has to leave a mark in my heart to be worth remembering, but Catch Me as pleasant as it was is very forgettable.

I had a few issues, that really have been nagging me. One of them is weird love triangle situation, that really distressed me. Between Brooklyn and Nick, Shea was unnecessary addition. He was terrible. I didn’t like him and his behavior at all.

I wasn’t very fond of Brooklyn also. She was not a likeable heroine, and it was really hard to connect with her or understand her actions. For a twenty five year old woman, she acted very immature. More than once I felt the urge to shake her and scream at her to finally grow up and act like an adult.

I really expected more. I wanted something a little bit more exceptional and extraordinary. Maybe, Catch Me did not have surprising plot or very likeable characters, yet I didn’t stop reading. I wanted to see how it’ll end and there were certainly a few aspects that piqued my interest enough to reach the ending.

Claire Contreras has a nice style of writing and I guess many would feel the pull of it. I also found it really pleasant and lovely.

Overall, readers who don’t read many new adult related contemporary romances, can enjoy Catch Me and be very satisfied with this story. I recommend this book for those who aren’t afraid of a slight, weird love triangle and like to read nice, easy romance stories.

Brooklyn may have everything a girl could want at her fingertips, but none of that matters when none of it makes you happy. Just twenty-five years old, with a trip to rehab under her belt and the knowledge of what it truly means to lose your best friend.

When she is forced to head to New York to find the next big star for her father’s record label, she never expected that she’d find what she was missing. But from the first moment her eyes fell to Nick. Nick is an up and coming producer who is working with Shea, Brooklyn’s ex and closest friend.

The connection between these two characters electric. The tension, the chemistry, it just poured from the pages. Nick chases, but Brooklyn has never had a real relationship. She’s had a few under the influence encounters, and even with Shea, it was never committed. Nick has one hell of a fight on his hands to break through her walls and convince her that the one thing she has wanted all this time, is hers, if she’ll ever just slow down enough to let him catch her.

I loved this story! It completely gripped my emotions and kept me twisted throughout the entire read. There is no way to escape this read without falling in love with the characters. The journey that Brooklyn was on after losing Ryan the way she did, how she dealt with it and the manic relationship she had with Shea for all those years was one of wonder. There was so much weighing her heart down, so many reasons just to give up and let it go. But it only took one thing to get her to see how much was within her reach.

Claire Contreras reeled me in with yet another great romance. The only thing that really kept this from being a complete 5 star read was that there was a few points where the story got a bit sluggish towards the end and after the twist that happens towards the end, I just wanted more time with these two in a happy place before the story ended.

Brooklyn has a past. She starts work at her dads company and meets record producer Nick.

They had great sexual tension for half the book which I loved. The story was well written in that we are given bits of her past and slowly piece together what happened.

I asked you who you are. I dont give a fuck about who your parents are

Unfortunately the second half wasnt as good for me and I thought a few times some parts just dragged a little.

Overall I thought it wasn't as good as her other books but still a great standalone to pick up if you enjoy sexual tension and a bit of past and present.

➳Finally finished this beauty and all I can say is that Claire Contreras, my number one babe, NEVER disappoints...

➳This was such a sweet love story filled with passion and admiration that Claire always seems to portray not only through her writing but also personal life whenever she shares a glimpse of it with us. I am so beyond proud of Claire and am honored to call her a friend and one of my favorite authors for writing in such a state and past that she endured. As a strong individual, she was able to portray such aspects through her writing when letting the readers devour this novel of Nick an Brooklyn.

➳Seeing through the eyes of a character such as Brooklyn who has struggled through impacts of life and most of all family, Claire is able to captivate the reader with such intensity and power coming through the pages... in this case, a kindle ;) Overall I fell in love once again with Claire's writing. I am hoping that she keeps writing more and more, and that shortly I can get the paperback version of this baby!

On a very rare occasion you pick up a book and from the very first page you just know that there is no way your putting it down till you finish it. This is how Catch me made me feel.

It was a little slow to start with, the romantic in me was screaming just Kiss her already but when you get to the end you understand why Claire puts you through the roller coaster of emotions that this story makes you feel.

I don't want to give to much away in my review that's why I'm not running through the plot and readers will understand why when they read it but I do highly recommend it just have some tissues ready!!!!

Retitled: The Wilde One

Catch Me, caught me! I really enjoyed this book, as I have the other books from this author. Claire Contreras is so talented and gifted in the art of story telling, I am not sure she is capable of writing a bad book.

"...his words make me feel like he tapped my heart with pixie dust."

This is a story about a broken, recovering addict who has endured neglect and loss early in her adult life - Brooklyn, and the boy who saved her - Nick. The banter between them is sweet and sexy. Claire Contreras knows how to write dialogue...she is truly a master. There was a slow seduction; a romance slowly building between them. They are highly attracted to each other and we get to watch the attraction grow. We are on the outside looking in and it's wonderful.

"He lowers his face to mine, brushing his lips against my cheek and I think he's going to kiss me goodbye, but his lips continue to my ear, "Lunch at one." "

We also get the joy of seeing Shea! WOW! The connection between Brooklyn and Shea is undeniable. The love they feel for each other is endearing. Having been friends since teens, they have come to rely on each other when life gets too tough. Having tried a relationship with each other, Brooklyn decides being friends is what is best. They care so deeply for each other it is a codependent relationship. He loves her but needs her to love him back. He wants her for himself but doesn't want to give up the ladies.

"But one day I'll be ready, you know."

There is also Bee's cousin Nina, and brother Hendrix. Who are wildly supportive of Brooklyn.

Here's where I'm torn, there's a revelation/twist in the book that I am struggling with it was kind of left dangling. No one really addresses it. It was brought out in the open and then seemingly forgotten about. I don't like how easily she let it all go...this life altering news. This whole ordeal that had her not wanting to see, let alone go to the bridge was devastating. The news she finds out would be unsettling for anyone. She just seems to ignore it? I'm not buying it. That being said, this did not negatively affect the way I felt about the book. I just didn't think it helped the book, it felt unfinished to me. Left out, the book would have been just as great for me!

I would recommend this book. It is Claire Contreras after all!

****4 Soaring Stars****

Great choice on my part to start this New Year in the company of a Claire Contreras book, the woman can write, but we all knew that already. Reading this novel felt like standing at the edge of a cliff and jumping off into the unknown; emotional and raw Catch Me was truly breathtaking.

Brooklyn Harmon is a girl who apparently has it all; beauty, money, fame and the world at her feet but everyday she's struggles with demons and most times she feels like she just wants to give up and loose the battle that feels like is taking everything from her. She is a puppet to her parents desires so when her father informs her that she has to move to New York and work for his record company there as a talent director, she finds herself unable to once again say no to him. While she's waiting for her private plane to arrive and take her to her new life, she ambushed by the toxic and beautiful man in her life, Shea and the man of her dreams Nick. Shea is the destructive and handsome best friend whom Brooklyn has been in a on-and-off sexual relationship based on bad habits, but she loves Shea to pieces and is hard for her to stay away from him, that until she meets Nick.

"Give me what I want and I'll give you everything."

Nick Wilde is a talented music producer, badass, tattooed and extremely sexy. Since the moment Brooklyn looked into his amazing green eyes she was a goner; her ex-lover Shea, the pain from loosing her best friend and a lifetime of bullying from her own parents completely disappears as she gets lost in a the beauty of his soul through his eyes. Brooklyn has been broken for a long time, she has really low self esteem but she still hold on to hope and Nick wants to give her everything she deserves and wants to be there and catch her every time she falls. But their love story won't be easy, the pressures of the music industry, the shadow of their both famous last names and the pain from the past will try to break them apart; will they listen to the music of their heart and come out winning? or will Nick and Brooklyn crumble under pressure and give up? That is for you to find out in this electrifying tale about learning from past mistakes and finding the courage to let go and just fall... in love.

"Because I'm selfish and I don't want you to make anybody feel the way you make me feel."

I was beyond excited to start reading this, having absolutely loved Claire's previous books. Catch Me started a little slow for me but once the story took off was as intense and emotional as I expected. I loved all the characters, specially the male ones, this guys were all different kinds of delicious and made me confused about who should Brooklyn pick because I just looooved both Nick and Shea. Another favorite character of mine in this story was Nina, she added the boldness and the humor that was the perfect compliment to this very dramatic novel. Most of all I loved how music was such an important part of the story and the playlist that the author included at the end was full of awesome tunes. Get lost in the music and enjoy this beautiful book, this one is a winner!!!

*Blister In The Sun by Violent Femmes
*Say it, Just Say it by The Mowglis's

New book from the author of There is No Light in Darkness coming this November! Here's the info:

In the past, I've always been given everything I've wanted, but nothing that I truly needed. I've experienced a lot of things in my twenty-five years, everything except the one thing I want. It's the one thing that can’t be bought. It can't even be taken, it has to be given. And nobody has ever given it to me, not really anyway.

Not until him.

Music is the center of both our lives, but as he found his place in it, I lost my way. He soared, while I spiralled down a destructive path.

I lost myself in more ways than I can count.

The ironic thing is that I didn’t realize how lost I was until he found me.

And now that he has, I have to wonder if he'll stay around long enough to catch me.

4.5 stars.

This was an unexpected read for me, very pleasantly surprised. I had not heard about it , didn't even see it on Goodreads or with any blogs.

The characters are well written and I liked Brooklyn, Nick, and Shea. We catch up with Brooklyn at the beginning of her "new" life after she tail spins for a couple years. She could head back down that same old road and Shea is hoping she might or she can break the cycle?

I love how Nick is introduced and what a great friend he is as well.

Catch Me was a readworthy book !!

Exceptional - Spectacular - Remarkable
I need more stars for this!!!

Beyond happy that I've experienced this story. I wish I'd read it sooner.
This is a story with such truth, passion and life. It's more than romance (but also Nick is fucken HOT and had me swooning like it was going out of style) The chemistry and sexual tension was like WHOA! Loved it.

Brooklyn is now one of my favorite heroine. She's something very special that I can't even describe.
There's soo many characters to love. Every single one of them was well developed that even the smallest role took my heart.

Mind blown. Left me speechless. This author has given me another amazing story. She's like the gift that keeps on giving.
I want everyone to read this.

I liked this book.. but I certainly didn't love it.

Catch Me gives you a great insight in to the music world. Not the side we are used to, the behind the scenes stuff. Brooklyn is the daughter of the owner of Harmon Records. Having lived her whole life in a privileged world she has never wanted for anything. Except for love. Her parents have never shown her love, but that's the only thing she's ever wanted.
"Depression is a cruel bitch. She starts by planting little seeds all over your mind, knowing that life’s troubles will water it daily until it grows into a massive bonsai tree that crowds your thoughts and feelings, not leaving any room for leaves of hope to spur from it."

I loved the way Claire Contreras made me feel for Brooklyn. Reading about her past (and let me tell you.. it was heartbreaking) had me feeling so sad. No child should have to grow up in a family where they are so unloved and act out in various ways for attention. We aren't told straight away what exactly Claire did in her 'acting out', but I don't know about others, I worked it out pretty early on so I never had that shock factor when it was finally revealed. Either way though, it's so damn sad and I felt for Brooklyn.

Along the way, whilst Brooklyn is still struggling to overcome her past mistakes, she meets Nick. I didn't really care for Nick straight away.. I didn't really think of him as anything special, but I did love the instant connection between him and Brooklyn. You could just tell there was something there. The sexual tension was so apparent between them, and although I was glad there was no 'insta-love', I would have preferred them to speed up.. a little bit. I found myself getting a little bored waiting for it to happen.. waiting for them to finally recognise their feelings for each other.
"I’ve been kissed a million times, yet none at all. That’s how this kiss makes me feel. Like I’m freefalling, like I’m dying, like I’m breathing for the first time. Like I’m high on ecstasy and a million expert hands are massaging me. This kiss is my life."

I think that the book was a little too long for me. There were parts that I felt dragged too much, parts that were unnecessary (I didn't need to constantly know whether Brooklyn was wearing flats or heels.. it was a little odd), but at the same time, I felt like other parts needing way more. Particularly the ending I was a little disappointed in. One minute I am happily reading, at 96% thinking there is still time for a lovely epilogue and such.. nope, it just finishes. For me the ending was rushed and I needed more.

I'm not sure if Claire Contreras plans on writing anymore for these characters, or the secondary characters, but I would die for a story all about Shea. Shea was Brooklyn's best friend.. they share a complicated, deep and emotional past, and I for one loved his character. He was just as broken as Claire and his story broke my heart a little. I think there is so much potential for a story there and I know I'd read it as soon as it released.

Nothing brings a smile to my face, quite like a great book. And this one took the cake and everything else in-between. Get ready to take a journey with Brooklyn and her crew of awesome!

First off, I have to say how much I loved Brooklyn (aka BK). She, in a sense, is a horse of a different color (this may be a silly description of her, but it is true), which in turn makes her very special. She is one heroin that I had a crazy connection with. She hasn't been dealt the best hand in life, but she takes it in stride. She overcomes obstacles that others never do. She sees the finish line, even with the bumps in the road, and goes for it. She is a natural born fighter, a survivor, and a human being who is perfectly imperfect---in her own right. In other words, she is simply astounding.

Secondly, I'd like to touch on Shea. He melted me. Not in the hot molten lava mind-blowingly hott rocker way. No, he melted me in ways that were simple and chaotic. He has charisma and charm sure, but most importantly he is a man, who I feel, is lost in his own head and makes him comfortably numb in life. The one thing I loved the most about him, though, was that you had to be gentleish with him. He isn't made of porcelain by all means, but he is human and has feelings like the rest of us. He is a different special, in comparison to BK, but special nonetheless!

Thirdly, NICK! God, Nick! He threw me a curve ball that I couldn't hit. The first interaction with him, had me oozing. He is simple, alluring, charming, mystifying, and drop dead gorgeous--mind, body, and soul. He is beyond perceptive as well, which totally makes him that much more delectable. I think what I loved most about him, was when you gave him an inch he takes a mile. Seriously, LOVED it!

And Nina, the beloved screwdriver of the bunch. She is one heck of a chick! She was beyond honest and straightforward, so much that I craved for her to be apart of certain scenes. I think this is a reason why I loved her so. Ooooh and then there is Hendrix! He is the Big Brother to BK, and he loves her unconditionally! He is straight laced and all business, but means well. He would lose a left arm for his sister!

Talk about madness.....BK and her entourage consumed me. I just could not get enough of them. I devoured their words, sentiments, and emotions. I was so wrapped up in BKs head that when things happened, I didn't expect it---AT ALL! I was brought to tears for many different reasons: love, lust, loss, and life. Those things just ate me up. But not in a way where I hated the situation, but in a way that I appreciated what the character said/did. Most importantly, these characters all brought different aspects to the story---each coming from different walks of life.

Author Claire Contreras took this story to a whole new level of amazing. She created characters that you can connect with and appreciate, even with their short-comings. This story was so beautifully written. It is deeply profound and truly captivating. When a book like this comes around, which isn't very often, I turn into a little kid at Christmas---which leaves me scattered brained and makes my review seem like it is playing a game of pinball. Go and get yourself this book! It is one of those reads you can't put down, and most importantly you won't want to put it down. I give this book 5+ Stars!

This was such an addictive read, as soon as the two main characters met I just knew is was going to be very intense & hot between them and I was not disappointed!

Brooklyn has grown up in a family home of wealth and privilege. However, that did not make it a happy home. Her father worked ridiculous hours and was never around. Her mother is very self indulged and overly critical of Brooklyn her entire life, as an adult now, her mother is still is that way inclined.

Being around people in the music industry has meant being exposed to parties, sex, drugs and rock n roll from Brooklyn’s early teenage years. There were times when she just desperately needed her parents to treat her more like a child and in her lowest moments when she had the courage to reach out to them for help it was often brushed over. No wonder she chose drugs as her solution to problems.

After a checkered 8 years or so, Brooklyn is now the proud owner of her own small business but still involved in the family company, working for her father. One of their biggest stars is Shea, her best friend and ex FWB. He still partakes in the party lifestyle of the celebrity that he is and hits on Brooklyn but she knows that doing anything with him would be a slippery slide back to where she has fought to come back from.

Just as well she is strong enough to say no because OMG she is about to meet Nick. Nick is a producer and good friend of Shea. Brooklyn and Nick have the intense eye fucking connection the first time they meet. It is one of those instant ‘I want you and I will have you’ moments. Every time their paths cross they find it hard to look away from each other.

‘Nick’s eyes have a seductive hooded look as he peers down at me, a look that makes my heart run marathons inside my chest. Jesus, that stare could make anybody crumble.’

Once they clear the air around them all bets are off and OMG they are intensely hot together. Not just that but Nick is really sweet with Brooklyn, in fact, he knows her better than she realised. Brooklyn loves being with Nick, he makes her so happy and it’s refreshing being with someone who just wants her, not a connection to her name or family.

When things start falling apart for Brooklyn, she reverts back to her defensive way of dealing with things, she runs. Instead of trusting in what she has with Nick her fight or flight protective habit kicks in. It’s the only way she knows how to deal with emotions. However, she under estimates Nick and how much she means to him, the lengths he will go to, to care for her. Nick Wilde is her game changer and every thing she has been missing and needs.

‘It’s amazing how you can live without somebody your entire life and then you meet them, let them in, let them take over your every thought, and then the moment they’re gone, you feel like you’re fucking dying.’

This was one of those stories that I just couldn’t stop reading, I loved the connection between Nick and Brooklyn and devoured every page.
