Nick Vitale, devilishly handsome, forbidding - and heir to a billion dollar fortune. Keyonna Hayes, beautiful, success-driven and ripe for love and passion beneath her ambitious shell. Blackmailed into marriage to the insufferably rich and gorgeous, Nick Vitale, Keyonna is determined to teach him a thing or two about love which he so despises. Only things never really go as expected... Soon intrigue, heartbreak and betrayal ensue and Nick and Keyonna fight to regain a love that was always destined to be theirs.
My favorite romance novel trope is the marriage of convenience. I have made the writers of the books under Harlequin's Presents label a great deal of money because I love it so much. I also really enjoy IR, but unfortunately, the two rarely intersect. Enter Dez Burke and her fantastically soapy, steamy book! I have only read one of her other books (Gents 4 Ladies) and while it was pretty good, I adored this one.
It begins with Keyonna Hayes trying to shake an old boyfriend. She tries to let him down easy, but he turns everything she tells him into an opportunity. Nick butts in where he shouldn't and gets manipulated for his troubles and Keyonna soon realizes she wrote the proverbial check she really didn't want to cash. What unfolds is a great deal of sexy interaction between them and a whole lot of drama. Nick comes off as the (in my opinion) much dreaded alpha-hole at first, but give him a chance as it will become clear that his bark is all about self preservation. And I personally wanted to get an attitude about the second half melodramatics, but I got why the author did what she did.
The characters had an insane amount of chemistry ( Ms. Burke is very adept at penning a hot kiss) and got a satisfying, happy ending. This one is going on the re-read list for sure.
*I received an ARC for an honest review* Also posted on my Amazon account!
Although I loved the original premise of this book, I have mixed feelings about the overall quality of the story..
In my opinion, this story started off great, but then it became mired in overcooked scenes of erotica...
Also, there was some considerable lag in a few area's, which basically inspired me to fast-forward through the book...
Other than that, I enjoyed the initial sexual angst between the main characters, and the world building that the author attempted to put on display for her readers.
Overall, for 99 cents, this was a fairly good value...
Trapped into Marriage By: Dez Burke If Your Lookin' 4 S€X¥ Times... Fall In Line, Cuz, That's 'Bout ALL You'll Find In This HOT Read! There's some Twists & Turns, some Blackmail, & some Smokin' HOT, Phenomenal S€X... But, for ALL THAT, this Story falls flat... Actually, it's better to say, without THAT, YOU wouldn't keep reading at ALL! Sorry to Say... I was granted an ARC of Dez Burke's "Trapped into Marriage" via Booksprout; I recommend this book to others based upon its own merits. All opinions expressed within this review are uniquely my own & freely given! Until next time... Happy Reading!
Keyonna Hayes has a habit of doing impulsive things, which ends up getting her into a situation with Nick Vitale. But what happens when what was supposed to be a marriage of convenience turns out to be so much more?
I read this one because someone in a Facebook group that I’m in said that Dez Burke was what started her in reading BWWM romances. I’ve wasted my money on worse, but I was honestly intrigued. It wasn't the best, but I can’t say I didn’t like it.
The thing about Trapped Into Marriage is that it has a lot of good plot points, but it doesn’t deliver the way it should. The ex boyfriend, the jealous sister, and the stepmother REALLY should have done more damage, considering the setup. It just didn’t play out as well as it should have.
But those sex scenes were good! Very passionate. I think the build up of Keyonna and Nick’s attraction to each other is what really got me to continue.
Ultimately, I wouldn’t really recommend it except as something that fell short of its full potential. Three stars though, because I did enjoy the read.
Whoa. I'll be honest. I might have drooled during a few chapters. At first, I didnt really like the characters. They were too...something. Not sure what. Then, they changed my mind in a big way. I fell so hard for both Nick and Kaycie. Their story was full of twists and turns, passion of every degree and the most wonderful happy ending. I would highly recommend this book. Happy reading! Rating 5 stars
Note: I have voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC of this title.
This was like a telenovela, with a lot of dramatic, purple prose speeches and incest-adjacent situations. The heroine is supposed to be ambitious and single by choice but does tantrumy things. It's not really clear on how they fell in love with each other and explaining it away with: I don't know how - isn't really helping excuse away the writing.
I enjoyed reading Trapped Into Marriage, this was a cute story loved the characters as well as the storyline. I would absolutely recommend reading this book. Great job Ms. Dez Burke. Thank you.
This is the first book I have read from Dez Burke and I was not disappointed in the least.
When we first me Keyonna Hayes (the heroine) she is trying to break up with her absentee military boyfriend Mark. Now don’t get me wrong I understood her reasons for wanting out of the relationship, but damn she was brutal about it. In fact, I wasn’t sure I was going to like at first, but I decided to keep going. Then we met Nick Vital (the hero), who is a massive judgmental jerk to Keyonna for no apparent reason.
Through some unforeseen circumstances (Keyonna’s fault actually), Nick’s loses his very much needed fiancé and decides that Keyonna would be a good replacement due to their sexual chemistry. Naturally, Keyonna tries to deny her attraction to Nick, but Nick always gets what he wants either through his charm, sexuality or…blackmail.
It was definitely filled with some up and downs for the characters to stubborn to admit their feelings for each other; especially, when you throw in some exes with plans to tear the couple apart before they even begin.
Ms. Dez Burke is quickly becoming one of my favorite IR authors. Her character development is phenomenal-with the correct balance of strength and vulnerability to make you root for these people.
In Trapped Into Marriage, they were several times that I had those "hmmm, Dez how are you going to make this work?" But she did. There was one point in the book when Nick makes a judgement about Keyonna's character. He explains why he said it but the explanation didn't make sense so I said "Dez, you slipped on that one". But never fear, she gives the real explanation later on. Of course, we have the hot HOT steamy sex scenes and the happily ever after, but of the 3 books I've read of Ms. Burke's this one has the most angst regarding the couple. Can't wait for the next one!!!!
Great Story! I loved Nick and Keyonna and the intense passion was definitely there. Though, I felt a large chunk of it was mostly narrated, would have loved to see more interaction between the 2 main characters as well as an insight into how there feelings became even stronger for one another during there engagement as the story progressed, rather then have it be narrated, I wanted to be on that journey with them but it became quite rushed, I also thought the way Keyonna handled her break up with Mark was a bit harsh...Overall it was a great story and I will be reading more from this author in future.
Black amerian woman and a white Italian man have fallen into instant lust. He is one hot alpha male. I loved the chemistry with these two people. It was undeniable. It was yummy. I loved that even though he seemed like a cold calculating bastard he was a multifaceted character. You get to peel those layers. I also loved Keyonna's personality. Especially her character. She is fiecerce and independent. She is an educated successful black woman. She owns her own business and can stand on her own two feet. She knows her own mind.
This read like one of those Harlequin Blaze romance. It's good to find an I/R book that's not about vampires, ghosts. werewolves the mob or erotic sex( I'm so tired those.) Don't get me wrong it has a good amount of steamy sex scenes but behind the sex there were an actual story. A little slow at times not the kind of story you usually see between a BW/WM but still a good read. I don't know what some people call short but this book has more than 400 pages. To me that's long enough.
Trapped into Marriage- Dez Burke I enjoyed this short, sweet story. Keyonna and Nick are the couple meant to be together. They may begin their relationship a bit bizarrely, but it was fun to see them reach their "Happily Ever After". I liked the story to this. There were moments where I wanted more of "this" and less of "that", but overall this was one of the more well rounded novellas I've read lately.
Holy hot amazingness. the steamy scenes in this book make my thighs clench and my forehead sweat. the only thing that didn't click is the runaway bride aspect. this is not a harlequin this is a sexy novel that just makes the girls swoon. now I want a sexy Italian billionaire to sweep me off my feet.
What started as a point proving moment would be the undoing of Keyonna..That first kiss she bestowed upon Nick would send her life into a crazy tailspin. they have incredible chemistry, but can it survive the greed of others?
Nick forced Keyonna into marriage. Keyonna falls for Nick despite his maddening attitude. Upon learning more about him, she runs for the hills. Her exodus forces Nick to examine his own feelings. For characters portrayed as independent and strong they both seemed to look the other way when poor behavior was displayed.
This was a good first read for me from this author. It had a catchy plot, lots of fighting and loving between Nick and Keyonna, well written, thought out and super steamy love scenes, it really had it all and I enjoyed it immensely.
This is the second book I have read by this author and I must say it was HOT and STEAMY read......Nick and Keyonna had GREAT chemistry from the first time they met.......so looking forward to reading more from this author......
Fun exciting book. Sexy characters with hard shells to break through. Once they were both on the same page about wanting needing each other, it became a good hot mess. Again I hate that it took me so long to choose to read it.
This is my first book by this author and I can happily say I'm not disappointed!!! I love the love story & the sex scenes were sizzling hot!! If u read this book, break out your fans because you will definitely need to cool down.. I'm buying another book from this author right now!!
Really a great read I loved kenyonna's boldness and Nick's animal magnitude. This book was great from beginning to end. Definitely recommend you read!!!
This book is actually two in one, Trapped into Marriage and Gents4ladies. Both were cute reads. I wish that trapped into Marriage would've been expanded since it was a pretty good plot and I enjoyed the main characters together (maybe in the future?).
it was kinda typical. I was hoping that he was the one to find her not Rachel. why did she care anyway? and why did she run when she saw them in the office? he confessed his love so she should have staked her claim on him. lol
who published this rubbish... Keyonna made me scream... she was the beyond stupid and brainless... which does not a good quality for a heroine in a book .... waste of time
