This board book introduces Easter to young children, with simple text from Carl Laferton and colorful illustrations from Jennifer Davison. This contains adapted material from the God’s Big Promises Bible Storybook, simplifying the content for younger children while still covering the whole story.
I am impressed with how thorough this sixteen-page board book is. It spans from Palm Sunday to Jesus's resurrection and reunion with his friends, and it covers a lot of details in between, even Jesus's conversation with the repentant thief dying on the cross next to him. God's Big Promises: Easter for Little Ones is short and simple, and it bypasses multiple violent details while still honest about the reality of Good Friday.
I appreciate how this book balances age-appropriateness and accuracy, instead of just rushing to the resurrection. This book also conveys a gospel message, teaching that Jesus is our king, and that because of his death, we can be friends with God and live forever. I would recommend this to families with young children who are looking for a faithful, thorough portrayal of the Easter story.

This is a retelling of the Easter story (Palm Sunday, the last supper, Gethsemane, the cross, the empty tomb and Jesus appearing to friends after resurrection), written in short and simple text with engaging pictures. We own the Bible storybook from the same series and are enjoying it, and this sturdy little board book is perfect for our 1yo - it's faithfully told and the story length is perfect her age. Makes a wonderful Easter gift for babies and toddlers.
Since the story jumps very quickly from one scene to another, it may be helpful if a Note to Grown Ups/ a download freebie were included with Bible passages to look up, or a blurb that explains how the stories connect.
