Author's note: This is the last episode I have planned for The Cain Chronicles, and a little bit of a treat for Abel fans. I hope you all enjoy him in this one as much as I do...heh. :D It's 20,000 words long - same length as Red Rose Moon. Happy reading!
Rylie Gresham's world is ending, and this time, it has nothing to do with silver bullets... and everything to do with an impromptu visit from her mother.
Jessica has no idea her daughter is an Alpha werewolf in charge of the last surviving pack. Rylie is determined to keep her from learning the truth. But between her mate's stubbornness, airport security, and nosy family members, Rylie is soon to learn that being the Alpha doesn't necessarily mean that she's the one in control...
Hi everyone! My name is Sara, and I write urban fantasy and paranormal novels as SM Reine. I collect swords, cat hair, and typewriters (which I do use for writing!). It's a good day when those three things have nothing to do with each other.
If you would like to know the instant my next book is available, you should enlist in my Army of Evil! We have a wicked cool secret handshake, but you'll have to sign up to learn it. ;) Check it out -- http://smarturl.it/armyofevil
This was a very good series, with ups, and downs, tragedy, and triumph. Rylie falls in love with. not one man but two, and they are brothers. Both are delectable, ones a bit more of a bad boy, while the other is just as sweet, and loving as can be. One is going to school to be a Dr, and the other one is a werewolf. Oh so much happens throughout this series I can't even begin to pick all the different things out, without divulging to much. This was really a great series, I recommend it highly.
Oh, this was a perfect ending to the Cain Chronicles. Rylie meets up with her mother again for the first time in years and not only has to deal with all the angst that comes along with that but also the danger of being exposed as a werewolf.
Meanwhile, the Union is hot to put the hurt on any preternaturals they come across. They are seriously not fun. In fact, they're fun-suckers.
I loved, loved, loved that we got to see Abel backing Rylie up and being a total stand up guy. For as much as I didn't like him as a person when he was first introduced, I am TOTALLY loving him as a character now. He's changed a lot since the original series and it works.
I'm sad to close out this series, but excited that we'll see more of Rylie and her crew in the Ascension series. YAY!
This book marks the end of the Seasons of the Moon: Cain Chronicles series. If you’ve been following along you know that even though the series has come to an end, this is not the last that readers will see of Seth, Abel and Rylie. Actually far from it.
So, you know that I’ve jumped around a bit. I read the first couple of books in the Seasons of the Moon series and then I lost track. I was reminded again about these books when I was introduced to the Ascension series. I read Sacrificed in Shadow, the first book in that series and I was hooked. The Ascension series ties both the Descent and Seasons of the Moon series together. Unfortunately, I was 2 1/2 series and about 16 books behind. (Did I mention that S.M. Reine writes really, really fast?) The point is… I’m almost caught up and even though you can pretty much start anywhere with any of these series, I’m so glad I took the time to play catch-up ;)
Alpha Moon was kind of short, but it covered a lot of ground. Rylie and Abel were still getting to know their twins. The pack was getting ready to move to a new, isolated location. The world not only knew about, but was terrified of anything supernatural. There was an entire government organization not only out to get Rylie and her pack, but just looking for a reason to destroy them and Rylie’s mom was coming to visit. In a normal world, that would be the easiest thing to handle. Rylie’s world was anything but normal.
There was so much to love about this book. I loved getting to know Summer better and watching her get closer to Rylie. I gained a whole new appreciation for Abel who I had just recently started to like. And then there was Jessica… I gotta say, my reaction to her was totally unexpected.
I have to admit though, if I had read this as a series finale, I probably would have been a little disappointed. Reading it knowing that there is so much more to come is totally different. In that respect I suppose I can forgive myself for taking so long to catch up. If you’re starting fresh with this series and others in the S.M. Reine universe, enjoy. Alpha Moon may mark the end of a series, but the adventure has just begun.
I absolutely loved the finishing book in this series. I was a bit disappointed when the first four books were only like 80 pages at most but I loved the plot line. I wished this series could go on forever, but like all good things it must come to a end. i think she summed up the series perfectly and this book will always be remembered. #abelforever #summer&NashBAE
This was a great short, fun installment that ties up a few loose ends from the Cain Chronicles.
I tore through this one in a few hours and felt much better for it. At the end of book #6 I felt like Abel never really got his proper time spent with Riley. Yes, he ended up with the girl, but he really didn't spend a lot of human time with her. Wolf time aside, I thought he was really missing out.
Fast forward to this book, where we get lots of sexy hot time with Abel, and I'm a happy girl! We get to see how this new family unit interacts (which wasn't nearly as awkward as I thought it would be). This story sort of revolves around Jessica, Riley's mom coming to visit. I sort of forgot about her, to be honest, but this is yet another loose end that gets nicely tied up at the end of the series.
I look forward to reading this cross-over book involving Elise and Riley! I also want to know what is happening with Nash and Summer, but I guess that can wait a little bit. I am really James/Elise deprived right now.
"Alpha Moon" is a fun short instalment in the ongoing adventures of Rylie Gresham, who here has to deal with a visit from her estranged mother while at the same time trying to dodge discovery of her true nature by both her and the government agency OPA while in the meantime secretly securing a land deal. The story thus also serves as a bridge to "Sacrificed in Shadow" the first part in the "Ascension" cycle.
Personally I'm not that big a fan of Abel in this Story; those typical Alpha-males they always make my spine run cold when they proclaim their mate as "mine" - I can't help but feel that he comes across as uncomfortably possessive at times, and it did make we wish that she had chosen Seth for a partner. Still it's a treat for his fans and for all those that finally want to see some more 'action' between him and Rylie.
A nice short addition to finish up the series and tie together some loose ends. I was a bit surprised by the amount of intimacy described, but having read the first book int he Ascension series, it didn't put me off like it might have otherwise. In fact... well it was well done and pretty hot... But for the story itself, I was glad to get the explanation of how Rylie and her wolves found their new home. Definitely would have helped to have read this before "Sacrificed in Shadow". Even for how short it was, it was still filled with action, and of course out favorite wolves. Seth fans will be sad since he really plays no role in this book, but I prefer Abel so I have no complaints :P
I really liked this little glimpse into Rylie's mother. She was not nearly as bad as I was expecting her to be. I'm also really glad that Summer and Nash's relationship really didn't have any info because I haven't read it yet! I really liked Abel in this book, but I also felt Rylie's awkwardness. I would've been weirded out too if I switched from Seth to Abel. The difference is while yes Seth was kinder and gentler, ultimately that's not what Rylie needed. So I was a little annoyed by the comparisons she kept making. Overall although it was still a really good read and I can't wait to get started on the Ascension series.
This book was a fitting end to the series and tied up all the loose threads nicely. It was great to see Rylie and Abel settling into their relationship and dealing with the every day dramas of introducing the father of your children to your unsuspecting mother. I laughed in places and really enjoyed this bitter-sweet ending though I am sure there are more wonderful books to come and I look forward to reading them.
It totally bums me out when I nestle down in my bed with my kindle to read the next book in a series that I love only to finish it in an hour. The story was still great. I loved seeing Jessica do right by Rylie and Able, but it left so much unanswered. I wanted to see her reaction to being a grandmother. I want to know ok w if Gwyn joins them on the land, and where is Nash? There was just too much left out for this to be the end of this series.
I liked this book about as much as I liked the others. Though short it made for a good read by exploring the relationship between Riley and Jessica as well as Riley and Abel. I like the moment when Riley feels like someone acknowledged how hard it has been for her and she gets that support from an unlikely supporter.
Really got involved with all these characters. My only regret is that I read several out of order. If you like fantasy involving demons, angels and Werewolves, give it a try. I would first go to S.M. Reine's website and see what books were written in order. Many of her series cross paths with other series. Happy Reading.
This was a quick read that gives followers something until the new book comes out. A little sweeter then the author normally writes but I am sure the next will be back to kiss ass werewolves and other creatures that go bump in the night.
I loved this book. I am so sad to see this series end. The only problem that I had with the book is it took me quite a while to remember who Jessica was. She was from several books ago, and wasn't mentioned much past that book. I'm looking forward to reading S.M. Reine's other series.
When did this cute adolescent fiction series turn into a Harlequin romance? This book had expletives and sex. Would definitely not recommend to the seemingly intended teen audience. Not like the others in the series, it's like the author didn't know how to write PG any more.
Great ending for this series, the next part of Riley's, Able's and Seth's journey will have to wait until I can save up some more nickels and dimes. But it's. On my to read list!
I gave this book a 5 star rating because when you read the first book to the last you will be sucked into Riley's life and not want to stop til you've read the last one.
