As the women in the Dirty Girls Book Club open each new selection of erotica, they also open up their minds to sexual adventure…
Lily Nyland married sexy bad boy Dax Xavier because he made her dreams come true—in bed and out. But after a decade of marriage, her helicopter bush pilot husband spends more time in the remote wilderness than heating things up in her bedroom. The best sex she’s enjoyed recently comes from the Dirty Girls Book Club’s erotic selections.
Still, when the club chooses Bound to Be Dirty, Lily’s skeptical. As a family practice doctor and a fiercely independent woman, the theme doesn’t exactly resonate with her. But then Dax, home for the Christmas holiday, startles her by spicing up their sex life with naughty tricks that make her wonder if he snuck a peek at her book. Even more shocking, Lily finds herself turned on by their erotic experimentation. Kinky sex may be enough to rekindle the passion in their marriage, but can it restore the deeper bonds of love and trust?

First off I won this in a GoodReads giveaway several months ago. Didn't quite expect to win it as it had been a long time since I last won anything in the giveways. I had also read the previous books in the series so it was a pretty nice surprise.
Synopsis: This is book 3 in a series about 4 ordinary women, from different walks of life, sharing in mutual companionship and well a little light erotic reading in their book club meetings. This particular edition to the series focuses on the married club member, Dr. Lily Nyland and her troubles with her bush pilot hubby, Dax Xavier. It is also the holiday season and this couple think that a little romantic re-kindling and sexual healing will fix what ails their relationship.
What I liked:
1. Having read this series since book one, I was kind of glad to see the emotional transformation that occurred with Lily. She started out very jaded and snooty. Even though she never thought she actually was. So to see her cry and be consoled by the other group members was really touching to me.
2. How willing Dax was to try something new and be flexible in regards to finding a way to work on his marriage. And this was well before Lily even came to that conclusion. I really loved that, as some of the romance stories I've read, the guy is usually the one that is the last to know about fixing the relationship. So to see it switched up was great.
3. I also really enjoyed how much Dax stuck to his guns about supporting Lily and her decisions when her own family wouldn't. Even if he also had to argue with Lily about it as well after the fact because she always felt like he goaded her parents in the first place. But it's great to see a spouse stick up for someone they care about even if they aren't quite sure their relationship is as solid as it once was.
4. Surprisingly the very real issues that they dealt with as a couple even towards the end of the book. There was no super neat and tidy ending at first and a bit of suspense about a decision in the couple's marriage. But it eventually came together rather well.
Things I didn't like:
1. This could just be me being nit-picky and in relation to the last book I read. But the author had a section that really annoyed me where she had seemed to have an obsession with the word passion. Either the losing it, the having it, the getting it back. It just was really circular and wasted like 2 or so pages of a chapter to me.
2. The fact that there although this was 3 books into the series(not sure how many more will come beyond just 1 more as there is one member still with an untold story to go). But I still felt like the author played it really safe in regards to how the women were interacting with each other in the book club. Meaning that these women have read quite a few books and met many a first Monday of each month. Shared many a interesting appetizer and colorful drinks. And yet they never really seem to be able to relax enough to open up and ask for advice or share a bit of their personal lives(as in a "girl, you won't believe how crazy my work load has been this week." Or a "Oh man you won't believe the funny thing my sibling or parent or significant other said a few weeks ago." I'm not meaning in the way of the Sex and the City ladies. But still treat each other with some familiarity than a simple "Oh lovely sweater. How's the ranch life? Oh what kind of drink are you having?" stuff. I mean there was a little bit of career advice given in the last book. But this time around it took Lily nearly breaking down into tears to get them to be like what is really going on here. I get they weren't initially the closest of friends to begin with. But if I'm sharing food, reading time, and even the start of my month/week with 3 other women. I'm going to want to know more about them and what is going on with them than the pleasantries.
3. Although I give Dax props for being so active in re-kindling the romance in his relationship with Lily when he got home right away. Even snooped a bit on her Kindle to see what kind of books/things she might be interested in. I have to say I can't really applaud him going the route of the physical in handling things. I mean sure sex can bring some people closer together(and for them it did), and I've even heard that sex is how men show their feelings too at times. But honestly if Lily was not still attracted to him on some level. I think to even attempt sexy maneuvers in the first place would have seemed like an aggressive action in her mind. And then they no doubt wouldn't have gotten as far as they did. So always good to have a back up plan in place too when trying to save your marriage.
4. In a word, Lily. Sure she made plenty of progress from the start of the book to the end. But dude, she was one tough, highly unapproachable cookie in the last two books and although it didn't culminate into major bitchatude in this book. The way she acted for the majority of the time really made me wonder what drew her and her husband together. I get they were young when they met, rich good girl meets and falls for bad boy from wrong side of the tracks of a sort. And they brought out something new and refreshing in each other. But man Lily really could not acknowledge a lot of her own personal issues at all. I know that can be difficult for some people and even myself. But I think everyone has a moment in time when they have to face themselves and make a difference. Lily only really seemed to have that moment when it came down to issues most close to HER heart and how Dax wasn't quite falling in line with her ideals. Characters like that really annoy me.
Who'd I recommend it to: I would definitely wreck it to those that love a good contemporary romance. And admire the tenacity to work hard for your marriage. I also think for those that admire a character finally standing up for themselves and becoming more assertive. Overall a very well rounded story.
Savanna Fox brings readers the third book in her Dirty Girls Book Club series, Bound to be Dirty. As each book selection is made for the book club, each member gets to tell their story. Book three is Lily's story, which focuses on how to put the passion back in a marriage that seems to have lost it's mojo. Fox does an excellent job of showing how adding a little kink can get things back on track. Readers who are looking for a steamy romance between a married couple will love this one.
What I liked:
Avid readers often join book clubs. Usually, they choose a group of friends or a group that reads the kind of books they enjoy, whether that is a specific genre or author or some other criteria. Fox has created a series based on that idea. The Dirty Girls Book Club reads erotic fiction. They choose a book and then discuss it, as most book clubs do. What's interesting is the way that Fox ties each selection into one of the stories of each of the main characters. I like the fact that whatever they are reading about somehow ends up as the basis of what is going on in their lives. That was a great idea and I think it is proving to be very successful for Fox.
In this book, Lily is having some issues with her husband, when the book club chooses a BDSM title as their next read. She is skeptical about the book, but agrees to give it a try, never knowing that it may have a profound effect on her life. Her husband is away with his job often and they have lost the romantic and sexual spark they had when they married. I really enjoyed the fact that Fox chose to use a married couple for this book. Passion in a marriage often the key to couples sticking it out even through the rough times. And I do believe variety and trying new things is the key to keeping things interesting in the bedroom. Fox did an excellent job of conveying that.
Fox writes some very sexy scenes between Lily and her husband Dax. Once he figures out what book the girls are reading and what the subject is, he takes matters into his own hands and tries something new in the bedroom, with some pretty awesome results. Fox has a way with writing erotic scenes that will raise a readers temperature. But there are also moments of levity and humor in this book. Though it is erotic and has that focus, that is not the only element the author uses to move the story forward. Fox strikes a good balance and readers will appreciate her attention to detail.
What I didn't like:
There wasn't really anything that I specifically didn't like about this book. For me it was okay. It was good, but perhaps not quite earth shattering. It had some great moments but the pacing a bit slower than I would have liked. I didn't drag, it just didn't grab me and cause me to hang on for dear life.
Bottom Line:
This is good erotic fiction. Fox chooses a great theme for the series and for this book. Passion in marriage is critical and I thought she did a good job with it. The main characters were believable and how they added kink to the bedroom was not beyond the normal spectrum for this kind of book. Readers who love eroticism between two committed partners will enjoy it.
I was given this book to read and write An honest review. This is the third book in the series and I have not read the other two. I felt I was able to catch up pretty quickly and knew what was going on the whole time. This is the story about Lily and Dax. They are having some marital problems and trying to figure out if they want to work things out or not. They still love each other but are very much invested in their own careers. Lily is a doctor at a general practice she started and Dax is a pilot. My thoughts on the book. Meh. It was ok. It held my attention for the most part. I am going to be honest when I say I was going to be really annoyed if they couldn't figure out a way to work things out especially with how much they loved each other. Anyway I rated it 3 stars I am not sure if I will continue on with the series.
I enjoyed reading about a couple that is trying tonsave their marriage. There is a surprising lack of stories about this subject. More are about the dissolution or the aftermath of a broken marriage.
Lily has her own life planned out. She has her own clinic and condo. She even has a husband but he is never around due to his job. But what she does not have is happiness. She completely forgot what it is to be happy. Reuniting with her husband over the holidays made her realize that she still loved him but not sure if she will ever be happy with him again. Dax has always loved being in the wilderness. He has always found out the wild was his home that is why he has the job he has. He also knows that he has a home base. It is the condo with his wife. Dax thought his wife was cheating on him and Lily thought that he was cheating on her. While Lily was late getting home one night Dax found her kindle and realized what kind of books she was reading. He took the incentive and decided to take a chapter out of the book. The third book in this series is full of ups downs and curves and even a quick left turn. Neither Dax nor Lily thought that because they both read the same book, their marriage would change or they would finally learn what it is like to compromise in a marriage. They at first both realized that they really did not want to give up their life for the other. However they wanted to see if they could save their marriage. The major issue was that they were too wrapped up in what they wanted that they forgot what it was like for them to be together. By the end of the book they both realized that their marriage was more important than their work life. They wanted to be together and work on their marriage and even have children. It was strange for them to finally realize that their fixed marriage was because of a book that Lily was reading with her book club. It was strange to read that a man would read what his wife was reading. 8t could always be a benefit. Men should always try and find out what their significant other is reading, it could actually help space up their life or even leave an opening for communication. I cannot wait to see what happens if there is another book written. I love reading about how books can change someones life.

I was given this book to write an honest review for Cocktails and Books.
Savanna Fox writes a compelling story about a couple struggling to save their marriage. Eight months ago, Lily Nyland joined a book club with three other women. One of the books the women decide to read is a novel about BDSM. Lily reluctantly agrees but the subject makes her uncomfortable; she thinks BDSM is abusive and demeaning. Lily is a controlled, hard working doctor and spends all her time running a busy family practice clinic in Vancouver. Lily joins the book club thinking they will have highbrow literary discussions, but the women have different tastes and the books aren’t choices Lily would make, but she reads them anyway. Lily enjoys being with the women, because it’s been a long time since she has spent time with girlfriends, or had a chance to relax. Lily and her husband Dax have been married ten years, but are rarely together because of their demanding jobs. They have slowly drifted apart, but are hesitant to discuss the state of their marriage. Dax is a bush pilot and rarely home because he is gone for months at a time with his job. Dax is a bad boy with a free spirit who relishes spending time in the wilderness. Dax and Lily have forgotten how to communicate with each other and they are afraid to express their feelings. Even though they are polar opposites, they have always been attracted to each other. When Dax finds the book about BDSM on Lily’s kindle, he is surprised by her choice in reading material. The book gives him ideas and he decides to add some spice into their sex life. BOUND TO BE DIRTY is the third book in the Dirty Girls Book Club series. Each book is a stand-alone and chronicles a different member in the book club. Do Dax and Lily love each other enough to compromise and save their marriage? Can people change?

I loved this book. I picked it up by chance not realizing it was the third book in a series and that didn't really matter. Even thought it is part of a series it can be read as a stand alone. Not fond of the title because it really doesn't give you an accurate feel for what you are going to read but I get why it is titled that. There are three books out so far and this is the third one. There should be at least one more book about the last member of the Dirty Girls Book Club (hence part of the name of the book). Each book is about one of the members of the book club and how the book they are reading effects the relationship they are in.
This book though was about Lily, a family practice doctor and Dax, former military man and current helicopter bush pilot. Lily and Dax have been married for over 10 years, but based on their professional lives, they have spent much of that apart. In fact, they have grown so far apart, forgotten how to be a couple and both are wondering if the other is cheating on them while they are not together. The book the book club picks is called "Bound by Desire" and the theme doesn't really appeal to Lily but she agrees to read it any way. Her husband Dax, picks up her e-reader by mistake and thinks if this is what his wife is interested in, he might as well try some of it to spice up their dull and almost non existent marriage. That is when things get interesting. This book is more about how to find your way back to the person you were when you first fell in love than to continue they way you are going and growing apart. There are ups and downs but in the end everything gets resolved.
I think I may have to try more books by Savanna Fox.
Dr. Lily Nyland and Dax Xavier were passionately in love when they wed. Now ten years later they have grown apart and are divorcing. After months of separation, they decide to try to work out their problems. There is so much tension and hurt between them. Lily is a workaholic. She is expanding her clinic. Dax is a bush pilot for a mining company and is away for extended periods. To make things worse Lily's parents do not approve of her choice of a husband. Can they find a way to save their marriage? Fate steps in. Lily goes to her Dirty Girls Book Club. They are going to discuss the popular BDSM book, Bound By Desire. Can this book help them rekindle their love and put the spark back in their marriage? Savanna Fox skillfully tells a story that is erotic and emotional. Lily and Dax realize that in order for their love to survive, they need to compromise. Savanna Fox is a superior story teller. The book is well plotted and the characters are well defined. The sex sizzles and so do the emotions of Lily and Dax. I couldn't put this book down. It is so good.
Lily is my most unfavorite member of the book club. She is so rigid, so unbending, and so judgmental. So when I realized that this book focused about her I wasn't that excited to read it and that is pretty much how the whole book went for me. I felt like both Lily and Dax didn't really care about their marriage. How could then when they choose to live apart most of the time and never made it a priority to even talk during those times. Both of them seemed to jump to conclusions without talking to the other, they just kept plodding along. I did find it funny how things started to change with the new book the girls picked, a BDSM book. Because I was blah on the romance, that I didn't really care that there was an HEA for them.
I did think the best part of the book was the conversation the women had about the book and how BDSM and sex played into relationships. They brought up some great points.
What a fun premise for a series. I was intrigued from the get go, and I loved the premise and the characters, but the actual execution of the plot was a bit dry for me, it was missing some substance.
Lily is a character I think a lot of readers would be able to relate well to. Her and Dax make a wonderful couple. The other members of the book club were a hoot! I loved how diverse they all were and I would love to go back and see how the group of them was brought together.
The plot just felt a little uneven to me - I just couldn't get quite into the story and get on board with it. Something kept me from really connecting with the story and having that must keep reading feeling.
Either way, I was really intrigued by the characters and definitely want to pick up the other 2 books in the series and see what they are all about. Bound To Be Dirty was a pretty decent read overall.
I LOVE the idea of The Dirty Girls book club!! In real life this is something that I would love to do with a great group of girlfriends!
I do not often read a series out of order but when I saw this on Netgalley it was too good pass up and I have discovered so many new authors through NG that I jumped on this one! (I had not read this author as Savanna Fox or as Susan Lyons) I will definitely be going back and reading the previous 2 books.
Another component of this book that spoke to me was the fact that its an already married couple working at renewing their relationship and re-finding their happy. This was not just a erotic read but a true love story that I thoroughly enjoyed.
"Bound To Be Dirty" is third book from the "Dirty Girls Book Blub" by Savanna Fox.
This book follows the relationship between book club member Lily and her husband Dax. Their relationship has staled and is at break point, both wanting different things from their lives but still wanting to be with each other. They start to experiment with BDSM which in turn makes them re-think their values.
I found this book very bland compared to the two previous books in the "Dirty Girls Book Club". It didn't really have much substance and in the end I wanted to get to the end of the book so that I could move on to another one.
I did not realize this was part of a series! LOL. i found this one at Barnes and Noble in the discount bin, and thought it would be interesting. I enjoyed this book, although the lead female character (Lily) got on my nerves quite a few times throughout the book. It also struck me how, even after the two main characters had been married 10 years, they didn't communicate well at all and at times it just seemed like they didn't even really care much about their marriage.
I liked Dax way better than his wife though and I kind of felt badly for him, since it just seemed like he never quite fell in line with Lily's ideals.
I won this book through a giveaway and was very excited to read it. The development seemed a bit forced in the beginning but I enjoyed the general plot and I really enjoyed the dynamic between Lily and Dax! was nice to read about a committed couple try to re-find each other and the spark in their relationship! I would definitely recommend this book as a good change from the typical boy meet girl, they fall in love and the drama of life enters :)
Ok I loved characters Lilly and Dax. Lilly is a hard working doctor, Dax flies helicopters. They have began to grow apart, and both think the other is cheating. When the book club chooses to read BDSM, their relationship begins to spark. Can they rekindle their love and marriage through new sex games? This is a must read. It kept me wanting to know what would happen next in this relationship. I received this through giveaway on good reads
Enjoyed reading this book won it in a goodreads giveaway. I think I will go back and read the other 2 books in this series. As to not spoil the book for others I will just say that you will definitely not be disappointed. This is the first book I have read by Savanna Fox and I plan on reading more of her books in the future.
This series has been great, but I was even more impressed by Lily and Dax's story. I couldn't put it down, I kept wanting to know what was going to happen next, what changes in their lives the were making.
I found this book in my library's new book purchases and have never read anything from this author but the story intrigued me of a married couple stuggling to reconnect. I really loved it and plan to take a peek at the first two books in the series.
I won this book. I didn't realize this book is part of a series. I didn't feel like I need the previous books to know what was happening. Dax and Lily have been married for awhile. They have grown apart. This book shows them working hard to save their marriage.
There was too much exposition and I felt like the premise didn't hold up, particularly because the conflict between the hero and heroine hinged all on a simple conversation. I won't be continuing with this series.
Another great addition to the Dirty Girls Book Club series. More great characters with real problems. This could actually happen. Liked it nearly as much as the first one. Read this. Strong characters you will love.
