In this fourth book, Ed goes to sign up for the bowling league, but accidentally signs up for a playwriting contest instead. Ed and his friends write a VERY wacky play that stars a hamburger, a moose, a ninja, and even a pirate mouse! While performing the play, Ed's powers as the Stranger make things in the Looniverse turn more than a little loony! Ed scrambles to stop the strangeness before it's too late.

I did not like this book because I did not like the part when the main character's, Ed's, head turned into a horse's head. I enjoyed this book because I like the moon.
WE WANT MORE! My son and I have absolutely loved this entire series. As we finished the last chapter of Stage Fright this morning there was a bit of sadness because we know it's the last one. But it doesn't have to be. Dear Mr. Lubar, Please write more books for the Looniverse series. Our imaginations need more of the Stranger. Most Sincerely, The Nicholson Family
Ed and the gang rush over to City Hall to sign up to join a bowling team, but by mistake end up joining a play writing contest. Mr. Sage, the owner of the New Curiosity Shop, who knows about Ed's magic coin warns him to be careful, because of the Blue Moon that will rise in two weeks, the same night of the play. Try as he might to write a bad play, Ed wins the contest and will performed it on opening night of the new amphitheater. Will Ed survive the night, and keep stranger things from happening? Only time will tell.
This is the kind of clever and fun early chapter book series I wish I had when I worked in a K-8 school library. It's wacky and fun but there's an internal logic there. It's not just random madcap. (Can you tell I've read a few of those maddeningly plot-driven books lately?) Thank you, David Lubar, for instilling order in your Looniverse.
Just when Ed thinks he his gaining a measure of control over his new-found Stranger powers, the blue moon rises and causes more chaos than ever before. 2nd grade boys are sure to love this series, just be sure to start with #1!
