Connie Mann loves taking readers on heart-pounding, suspense-filled adventures featuring strong, determined women who fight for what they believe – and for those they love. When those stories take place in exciting locales and include a tempting hero, so much the better. She is the author of the upcoming The Crown Conspiracy, an adrenaline-fueled adventure where an expert art forger must team up with a mysterious women-only secret society in order to rescue her best friend – and save a country. Connie’s other titles include the Florida Wildlife Warriors series, the Safe Harbor series, Angel Falls and Trapped. She has won several writing awards and Amazon declared Beyond Risk an Editor’s Pick.

Connie is also a USCG-licensed boat captain, and when she’s not writing, “Captain Connie” gets to introduce Florida visitors and students to dolphins, manatees and other coastal creatures, which is as much fun as it sounds. She is also passionate about helping women and children in developing countries break the poverty cycle and build a better future for themselves and their families.

She and her husband love spending time with family and friends and heading off to explore new places, especially those involving water and boats. Visit Connie online at www.conniemann.com and sign up for her newsletter for all the latest news.

Intense. Gritty. Definitely edgy. This debut romantic suspense pushes boundaries even as it delivers a riveting read. Some aspects of this book aren't for the faint of heart. There's plenty of action and violence and even some of the romantic scenes are more detailed than I'm used to seeing in a Christian Fiction novel -- so it might not be for every reader. It is in no way explicit or inappropriate but definitely a wee bit edgier.

And what a desperate story this is! Regina, with her heartbreaking past and her commitment to care for the orphans and street children in the ghettos of her city. She walks with God, but even so, she is held captive by her abusive history. Her goal is to protect other children from living the horrors she has.

Brooks is all simmering rage and hard edges. A tough soldier who has been betrayed and can't let it go. He's not particularly likable when we first meet him. Very self-centered and bitter, nursing his wounds -- both physical and emotional -- and not in the healthiest of ways. He tries to mask it, but there's a decent and compassionate heart under that brusque exterior and it comes to the surface when Regina and little Eduardo are threatened.

Action-packed, nail-biting scenes collide into one another as Mann takes this hero and heroine -- and her readers -- on a breathtaking race to the finish line.

Is it possible to deliver an exciting story with a Christian message? As both a reader and a writer I've been frustrated by this conundrum in the past, and as a rule I've found most such commercial attempts too fixed on the message as opposed to the story. Not that the message isn't important; of course it is. But so is the story! And too many "Christian Fiction" titles don't get that, and as such I've tended to shy away from them.

Well, I may have to adjust my thinking, because Connie Mann's Angel Falls defies those expectations. It's not only an exciting page turner of an adventure-romance, but an inspiring read as well. Regina da Silva is the heroine with a dark past, running a Brazilian orphanage in retribution for her perceived sins of the past. When her best friend is murdered and leaves behind an infant son of questionable parentage, an ex-Army Ranger is called in to assist. Ordinarily this is where the story might turn to pure Wisconsin Cheddar, but Mann rises above the cheese and creates characters which are flawed, complex, and unpredictable…which is to say, human. And believable. The action is fast-paced and exciting, with enough violence to be realistic without going over the top.

Of course, this is a romance at its core, and quite a good one. Regina is an interesting character and well-drawn; her counterpart, Brooks, is perhaps less so but to go too much further in depth might've required another twenty or thirty pages. Anyway, it's enough, and things reach their inevitable conclusion at pretty much the right time considering all the two must go through. Regina's past isn't described in too much detail, but this is one of those cases where a little is enough and more might be too much.

I was perhaps a little disappointed with the "wild card" in the deck of characters, Brooks' cohort in that he serves almost as a human MacGuffin of sorts who twists the plot that one last time. I never understood his motivation—the explanation given is just too pat for what was otherwise an excellently done tale. But this is a minor complaint at worst and doesn't distract from the story unduly. Just as important perhaps, is that the Christian messages of love, hope, salvation and healing are all there…but you're not beaten over the head with them repeatedly. Characters pray for guidance and succor right where you would expect them to…right where you and I would, in other words. It works.

Major thumbs up for Connie Mann for getting it right, and to Abingdon Press for getting it out there. If there's any justice, this will attract a lot of attention to an under-appreciated segment of publishing.

Now this was a sensational story. I didn't know if I'd like it at first, but I thought I'd give it a try. I've not read many books set in Brazil, but wow, this was a good one. There were so many double crosses, secrets, red herrings, and conflicts, there was never a dull moment. But the best part was the healing that took place in both of their hearts.

So yes, there was action and suspense for people who love car chases and guns going off. Plenty of vivid details there. The way that the hero fought his emotion and at the same time wanted to see the heroine heal emotionally, well, it was very touching. And the way the heroine resisted love because of her past and fought the good emotion she felt around the hero made my heart flutter.

I even got teary-eyed a few times as I experienced the emotional conflict with her. There is just something beautiful about watching a woman who was hurt and abused her entire childhood (and resigned to being treated like trash) awakening to the idea that she can be loved. Sigh. Beautiful stuff. It reminded me a bit of Redeeming Love in that respect. I highly recommend this book. Oh, and the ending was perfect. Wow.

If you enjoy romance with a touch of adventure, this is the book for you. Angel Falls has a lush, tropical setting and a fiesty main heroine, Regina. Although she comes from a tough background, her heart is pure and motivated by a fierce, protective love for the street orphans of Brazil. It is no wonder that you cheer for her in her time of troubles and care deeply that she makes it through her journey safely. You also are thrilled when life's twists introduce her to a handsome (if a bit surly) companion, Brooks.

I loved the quick and compelling pace of this exotic story that took me on an adventurous journey through a land I have never visited. I was hooked form the very first page. Connie Mann describes the setting so well - and makes you feel like you know, see, and understand her main duo: Regina and Brooks. The romantic tension is palpable - and we cheer to see these two people finally relax, give in, and realize that this is indeed their soul mates.

Of course, I want to know what happens next! Write the sequel, Connie!

This was a great Quarantine read

I met this author recently, so was curious to read one of her several novels. Angel Falls was on special via Amazon, so I gave it a try. I was drawn in almost immediately and stayed intrigued throughout the entire book. And even though I suspected it would end the way it did, I couldn’t be sure! Well done.

This book grabbed from the beginning. Intense and captured me that I finished it in less than a day. The relationship between Brooks and Regina was interesting seeing it change slowly. Family issues and murder. Great read

Good story

Fast paced with lots of suspense and twists. Lots of action. A little more sexual content than I care for, especially in a Christian Fiction book.

Regina's best friend Irene asked her to care for her baby if anything should happen to her, and it did. After the young mother is killed, Regina vows to protect little Eduardo with her life. When the killer continues to come after them, she is forced to rely on the protection of former Army Ranger Brooks Anderson. Both Regina and Brooks are tormented by their pasts, and when feelings develop between them, neither is ready. As Brooks struggles to forgive his father, Regina learns to forgive herself.

This is not your typical sweet Christian romance filled with cliches, platitudes, and sermons awkwardly inserted into romantic conversations. This is a gritty, action-packed suspense thriller which happens to have a romantic twist. Regina is a former child of the streets with a dark past and painful memories. Brooks is a former Army Ranger with a dysfunctional relationship with his father and whose failed mission continues to haunt him. These are realistic characters with real problems that don't, on the whole, solve themselves in a couple of happy chapters. The setting of the novel, Brazil, is also a nice change.

If you have not enjoyed Christian fiction in the past, ignore the genre label and give this novel a try. If necessary, schedule time to sit down and read, because once you start, you will not be able to put this nail-biter down.

I was searching for a book in Lifeway Christian to use my 30% off coupon on and this one sounded interesting. Interesting is a huge understatement.

This book held my interest from the first to the last word. I wanted it to continue on past that last word, too!

Regina Di Silva runs an orphanage in Brazil, not an easy task with all the crime that is prevalent there. Her own life on the streets has shaped her into the woman she is now, too. She was rescued and wants to provide these children with the same opportunity she had.

Brooks Anderson, former military, is in Brazil when he gets a call for a mission. This mission puts him in contact with Regina, who has absolutely no use for him, just as he has no use for her. Circumstances dictate they must work together to save the life of an infant in extreme danger.

This book is intensely thrilling and the excitement is non stop! Seriously. Non stop. It felt like an action movie, only much, much better. The writer knows her stuff, too. This is not a Christian book with a little action thrown in. She's done her research and this is a well and tightly written book. Her characters are believable and the reader feels they are real.

Connie Mann is now a favorite of mine and I look forward to her next book. This book was so incredibly good. The action raced alone and I was just compelled to read through to the finish! It was fantastic!

Ohhh where do I start?

I got home from work last night and finally, a week or so after receiving this book from Amazon, started reading Angel Falls. I've had a lot of trouble lately with any book keeping my attention so I figured I'd get in a few chapters then move on to the next project.

Well....... let's just say that NO other projects got done, I barely made time to eat dinner, and I stayed up way past my bedtime to finish the book before I went to bed.

I'm not going to reiterate the story - the synopsis tells you what you need to know. All I can add is that the story is EXCELLENT! Connie gives us such an in depth look into Regina's life that I could feel her pain and uncertainties until I was literally holding my breath that she found the courage to move forward. I could feel the defeat and weariness in Brooks, something that life delivers to all of us at one time or another. I silently cheered as the characters put one foot in front of the other in their efforts to pick themselves up, shake off the past, and fight for the future they deserve.

The story evolved flawlessly with so much emotion, yet without the need for so much description that I got lost in the words. Thank you for such a great read with a solid, memorable story and message! I've already passed my book on with a high recommendation. Keep up the great work Connie!

For those who know me I am a promoter of very FEW Christian fiction books. I find that way too many of them push the message down your throat instead of telling a story with an underlining message. I find that you enjoy a book so much more if your not forced to engulf the message but allowed to arrive at your own through a WELL told story....As Connie Mann does in Angel Falls.
This is a romance but inspiring all the same.
The characters are developed to actually be HUMAN. They aren't some outlandish type of super-human....they have flaws like the rest of us.They have problems that a kiss and a snuggle won't solve.
Regina, our heroine, has a dark past....one that isn't totally laid out. She's doing what she deems retribution for those past sins she has committed.
Brooks, our hero, is an ex-army ranger with a past of his own. He has a very dysfunctional relationship with his father, that he struggles to get over.
Each must over come their pasts and trust each other...as hard as it might be.
The action is well written and the violence is put forth in a way not to over whelm but to ensure the aspect of the over all story is well read.
Over all this story is well written and enjoyable. Connie Mann has managed to write an exciting romance full of action....a real page turner.
A must have for the summer!!!!

I just finished reading and amazing book
with a very captivating story. The only negative
points of the story was its somewhat repetitiveness
and it dragged out slightly. There was some sexual
content but nothing explicit. I would feel comfortable
in allowing an older YA to read it.
The story centers around a young nurse raised in Brazil,
educated in the United States, then returned to Brazil to
run an orphanage created by her benefactors.
It, also, centers around an Army Special Forces man, who
is searching for answers after a mission which went
incredibly wrong. He quit the Army, dealing with his
personal demons and trying to find answers. As he was thus
occupied, his mother asked an urgent favor of him
which turned out to be much more intense than he had planned on.
The two lives were thrown together to protect a third life.
The action was fairly steady throughout the book.
The main points I discovered were: violence, love, forgiveness,
deceit, survival, healing, poverty, abuse, discovering God and
Christ's atonement, trust, Selfishness, selflessness, revenge,
betrayal, and romance.
I highly recommend this book for book club reading and discussions.
I failed to make a note of whether this was a book I won or was in
exchange for a review. In either case, I am very grateful I
have this copy to add to my library.

What a riveting, page turning read. Once I started, I could not put this book down, it turned out to be a quick read, maybe because I couldn't leave it alone?
The action starts very quickly. We are at a home, in Brazil, for street children, that Regina and her friend Irene take care of. Unfortunately their paths cross with a killer, and Regina is left with the care of Irene's son Eduardo.
When Brooks Anderson receives a call from his Mother to help, he doesn't want to. You never know how connected each are.
The danger is ever present, and you won't know who or whom to trust. One or another is always in trouble. In the end you really have to wonder if anyone will survive? Through it all, you will wonder who would have so much evil in them that they would want to kill a baby??
Regina's life has been very hard, she grew up herself as a street child, but Brook's Father let her to Christ. She is such a giving person, but with very low opinion of herself. Brook has a secret, he knows, but it eats at him, and he needs to forgive and find God's forgiveness.
A very heartwarming book, and one that you will remember long after the last page is turned.

I received this book through Pump Your Book Virtual Tours, and was not required to give a positive review.

Connie Mann delivers a great book in Angels Falls, with an interesting story, deeply-layered characters, and a unique setting so unlike the tame American places I'm used to. There's nothing tame about Brazil, not its wild jungles nor its city streets teeming with needy, abused children, one of whom was our heroine, Regina. What would have become of her if not for the flawed, caring missionary who rescued her? Today, she runs an orphanage, rescuing other children from the streets until a car bomb kills her best friend, leaving her with a newborn baby somebody wants dead.

Army Ranger Nathaniel Brooks is emotionally wounded after leading a failed mission in which some of his men were killed, along with the hostages he'd been sent to rescue. When he's asked to help Regina and the baby, he agrees. But if he fails again, what will become of this beautiful woman and innocent child?

Mann has so beautifully illustrated Regina's fear of men--a holdover from her terrible past--and Brooks's caring gestures that help her learn to trust again. This book is both a page turner and a tearjerker. You'll be thinking of the characters long after you put it down.

Full disclosure: I was asked to review this book, and I'm so glad I agreed.

I loved the refreshing honesty of the characterizations of Angel Falls. Mann carefully delineated the raw vulnerability of Regina's darkest fears and skillfully met and conquered those fears through the sensitivity of Brooks. This is an edgy romance; an edgy story. But life tends to be a bit edgy. Less pretty, every problem tied up with a bow and more gritty where real people bear on their bodies and souls the marks of their wounding. Themes of forgiveness, betrayal, loss and overcoming hope point readers to a dramatic climax and a satisfying conclusion. You ache for Regina's pain and root through every page-turning scene for a fulfilling resolution. And readers are not disappointed. The setting of Brazil, its culture and flavor, becomes a character in its own right. One gets the impression that Mann opened up her creative "veins" and bled out real pain, real sorrow, real hope. That takes courage on Mann's part, I think, to go beyond the expected, to be real. No sanitized saints here. Just characters with a lot of baggage, a lot of issues. Like me. Like the people I know. Bravo to Connie Mann and her debut, Angel Falls. I look forward to more from this talented author.

This is a wonderful story of faith, courage, and the power of second chances. Growing up on the streets of Southern Brazil, Regina has overcome a childhood of poverty and abuse to find a place where she can truly belong and make a difference. Brooks, the hero, is a military veteran, haunted by memories of a mission that ended in failure and for which he blames himself. When Regina's best friend is killed, leaving behind her infant son, Regina vows to do anything to keep the baby safe, even if it means placing her trust in a man she hardly knows. With no one to depend on but each other, Regina and Brooks must flee from a deadly pursuer, bent on revenge.
I loved the setting of this story. I know nothing about the culture of Brazil, and the events and characters of this story made it come alive for me. The character of Regina, who could have all-too-easily been a spineless victim, instead showed courage and a powerful faith. This was one of those stories I just had to keep reading, because I needed to know what was going to happen next. I really enjoyed it.

Angel Falls is a really enjoyable read and a good debut novel. I've haven't read much fiction that is set in Brazil and found that aspect of the story very interesting.

The suspense aspect of the novel was great. Though I did have an inkling who was behind it all much sooner than it was revealed, I still very much enjoyed it.

I personally didn't like how intimate Brooks was with Regina, especially with him constantly thinking how he wasn't the marrying kind and she was the type of woman that was wife material. I thought for a Christian novel all the scenes with them laying down together was the wrong message to be sending, if you are trying teach restraint I don't believe you should constantly be tempting yourself by making it so easy to fail. That being said, this was one of my only negatives with the book.

Overall, a very enjoyable read and I'm looking forward to reading more by this author.

Falling into danger....
A burnt out army ranger who can't forgive himself, much less his father. An orphanage director haunted by her own time on the streets, who can never feel clean. Two flawed people drawn together to protect a child. Can love bloom?

In Angel Falls, Connie Mann delivers a message of faith and forgiveness along with a touching romance set amidst an exotic locale described in lush detail. This is not your typical inspirational romantic suspense novel, it's what it should be.

So many biblical lessions here. From the sins of the father to Mary Magdalene, but woven in so expertly that the story really makes you think. It's obvious, this book comes straight from the heart. Kudos...

This was an amazing, suspenseful, action-packed book!

From the start to the finish it had me enthralled. I couldn't wait to read what would happen next.

The characters were great. Such different backgrounds and demeanors but they were perfect for each other.

I don't quite know how they managed all the escapes and traveling they did while holding a 3 month old baby!

I was very pleased with my first book by this author.

This book held my attention from the first page. Death, destruction, betrayal and ultimately love prevails. The main characters, Regina & Brooks, are well developed and extremely believable. I could feel their pain and their happiness through the writing of this author. Brazil, where the story unfolds is vividly brought to life for the reader from the slums to the beautiful waterfalls. This is not a pretty tale but one that will grip you and make you a believer in God’s infinite mercy! I would encourage everyone to read this book-I give it a 5 Star Rating!!

I was immediately hooked by the plot and the characters. The story starts fast and doesn't let up. I truly loved these characters. Regina is likeable and while emotionally wounded, she's not a weak person at all. She's someone you root for and admire. And Brooks...let's just say that I LOVE Brooks. He's the kind of hero I love to read about. This book is published in the Christian market but is great for the ABA market as well. I can't wait to read more of Connie Mann's work. Angel Falls by Connie Mann kept me turning the pages. The vivid descriptions of Brazil made me want to hop the next plane. Regina da Silva and Brooks Anderson are characters that jump off the page. With every turn in the plot I cheered them on. Courageous but deeply wounded by their very different pasts, they each experience a personal epiphany that allows a seemingly star-crossed romance to blossom. I'm waiting for Connie's next book.

An international game of cat and mouse, deep in the heart of Peru, "Angel Falls" is certainly an attention grabber. Very good suspense thriller and it was hard to put down. There was a little too much sexual tension between the two main characters for my taste, it was overdone just a bit, but other than that I really enjoyed it.
