Charis' latest time paradox has left Christina staggering. The history of Meric is being unraveled right before her eyes. While some unimaginable questions are being answered, even more questions start to creep up. Will they make it out of this place alive? Will they make it back to Meric in time to stop Leticia and save their friends? Will Christina and Shaw ever be married? Will Rayliex, with all his powers, join their side? Only time holds the answers to these questions. Considering Christina isn't even in her own time, she's not so sure anymore. One thing is for certain; no one could have ever guessed that Meric's origins would have been in this place.
Jennifer Hartz is the author of over a dozen novels spanning the speculative genres and covering multiple age ranges. From demon-fighting teen superheroes, to fantasy lands with mythical creates, to Biblical historical fiction, Jennifer runs the gambit with the tales she weaves. Formally an eductor, Jennifer now spends her days homeschooling her children. Recently, she’s donned the hat of Editor-in-Chief for Shelves of Shalom Publishing. Outside of writing, editing, and teaching, Jennifer loves spending time with her family, in depth Torah and Bible studies, conspiracy theory rabbit holes, everything Irish, and (even though the NFL is most likely rigged) watching Pittsburgh Steelers football. Christina is once again stunned to find herself in a different time, but this time she’s not alone. Shaw and her brother are transported alongside her to an unknown time in a mysteriously high tech underground fortress. Fearful and confused as to why the Creator brought them there, they seek to find answers. Are they finally discovering the true origins of Meric? Will they return to the present in time to save their friends left behind? And will Christina and Shaw ever get married?
In the fourth installment of The Future Savior series, Jennifer Hartz manages to completely astonish her readers once again by revealing what we have been waiting for since book one of the series— the complete story behind Meric. Not only did this story completely surprise me, it also went above and beyond anything I could of ever imagined. When you are beginning a new enjoyable series, all you can ever really hope for is that the next book lives up to the previous ones. I thought book two couldn’t possibly get any better than the first, but I was wrong. Same with three and now with this fourth one! The twists and turns constantly presented managed to mesmerize me page after page in every single book, but it was Desecration in particular that amazed me the most and it is Desecration that took this series to a whole other level. This book gives an entirely new meaning to the word “epic”!
In addition to the crazy twists and turns, there was so much revealed in this book that it made my head spin at times. I was SO happy to learn more about Meric, Christina, Shaw, her brother, and the rest of the gang. The character development was very impressive— if you thought the previous books told all there was to tell, think again! The writing style is all encompassing— I don’t know how else to explain it other than it truly transported you into the character’s lives. I loved to see all that I particularly enjoyed about the previous books still included in this one, such as the Biblical mirrors. It was so much fun to recognize these sub-plot stories.
Desecration was a satisfying and stunning continuation of this much loved series. I am beyond excited to read the conclusion, Revelation. Though truthfully it’s also bittersweet, because I really don’t want it to end. Nonetheless, I doubt I will be able to pace myself and savor the conclusion...I am way too eager to see what happens!
*This book has mature content and I don’t recommend it for younger readers. **I received this book from the author in exchange for my honest review. All thoughts are completely my own.
One word. EPIC! That is the only way I can define the fourth installment in this series, which by the way I am completely addicted to! After reading (And LOVING!) the first three books, my expectations for Desecration were extremely high, I was not disappointed! I wasn't just reading words on my Kindle screen, in fact my Kindle vanished and Charis sucked me into Meric where I found myself fighting Vaipes, Leviathans, and Nitehawks, making amazing friends, chuckling at Drexton, feeling a huge range of emotions, and getting huffy at Charis' crypticness! Okay not really, but you get the point! One of my favorite things about Desecration was that we learn so much about the history of Meric, I was so excited that my guess about how Meric got it's name was actually right (I'm almost never correct about those kinds of things)! I guessed right about something else too, but I'm not going to say what for fear of entering spoiler territory! I absolutely loved Desecration, but then I never expected anything else! Needless to say I highly recommend it, this series is a must read! Seriously, what are you still doing reading this review, you should be heading to Amazon to get your copy! But you will probably want to read the first three books first, this is definitely a series best read in order!
I will end by giving a top ten list of what I think makes this series so awesome!
1. God is at the center of the story! 2. Beautiful scenery! 3. Gorgeous Castles! 4. A Good Vs. Evil battle! 5. Special Powers (Levitation, teleportation, super strength, telekinesis, etcetera! 6. Shaw - need I say more!!! 7. Time travel! 8. Mystery, danger, action, suspense, adventure! 9. Biblical Parallels! 10. A breathtaking, heart stopping, gut wrenching, insomnia inducing, humor filled, heartstring tugging, happiness causing, thrill ride!
Desecration was a good dystopian/fantasy novel that I enjoyed reading. I loved getting to go back to Meric and continue Christina's and Shaw's journey - though the ending is another great cliffhanger that makes ya want to read the next book as soon as possible. ;)
I found it very interesting how in Desecration we learn a lot about the Guardians and what led to Meric. I was surprised by many things in the book and really liked not being able to guess how everything would turn out.
There were some things I didn't personally care for in Desecration. One of them was the heated scenes - there were a few that were just too much for me (especially the bathroom scene). The other thing I didn't like was some of the words used (i.e. "oh my G**", b*st*rd, etc.). Just my personal reading preference.
The characters were great. I already knew that I liked Shaw and Christina from reading the first three books in this series, but I also ended up liking Timothy very much. :)
Overall, I enjoyed reading Desecration. I recommend this book to mature readers who enjoy fantasy/dystopian novels with romance and don't mind some edginess. I'm looking forward to reading Revelation, the next book in Hartz's Future Savior series.
*I received a complimentary eBook copy of this book from the author for my review. I was not required to give a positive review, only my honest opinion - which I've done. All thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.*
Jennifer Hartz pulls off another great book with the fourth installment in the Future Savor series with Desecration. With yet another cliff hanger at the end of book three (Evacuation) readers are thrust into the action in book four. Each chapter adds to the story line that will only end with one side taking control of Meric. And with Christina's latest time travel along with Shaw and Rayleix, many answers about the creation and start of Meric will be answered for both Christina and readers.
Time shows within this installment that desecration is the past and possibly the future of Meric. However, Chrisitina, Shaw and Rayleix all learn important information about the past, and the future. This information may prove to be helpful in the final battle, however, it all depends on how it is used. And now with the second generation of guardians together, they might stand a chance of taking down Leticia.
Desecration fills in a lot of missing information that readers have been waiting for throughout the Future Savor series. Personally, for me this book lead to many of my assumptions and questions being answered. And I loved several of the twist and turns that occurred. Desecration is preceded by Conception, Resurrection, and Evacuation, the fifth and final installment of the Future Savor series, Revelation will be released in September 2013.
Wow, this is my favorite book yet in this awesome series.
The Sci-Fi aspect of the story really comes into play in Desecration. It's really well written and as with most of Jennifer Hartz descriptions in this series so far, you get sucked into the story and can picture everything in your mind so easily. Correct me if I'm wrong but I should imagine it's pretty difficult writing something that is Sci-Fi & Christian, but in my opinion it is done so well that I'm finding both aspects intriguing.
Again, it's difficult not to say too much because I just want to rant about all the ace things in this book.
The characters are ever changing and growing in a believable way, especially a certain character.. Christina's growth as a character is also really fun to see.
The animals = Awesomeness. I really love animals. I know I'm repeating myself from reviews of the previous books, but I really do love the authors imagination when writing about the animals. I should imagine she giggled at least a little when she wrote them.
WOW...I kept reading and reading...I couldn't put it down!
Jennifer Hartz knows how to capture your mind and never let you stop imagining what will happen next! This book was so good I actually read it in one day! I kept thinking...okay I'll stop and get some work done. NOPE, I read it while cooking dinner, while getting ready for bed, while doing a puzzle(I put it on text to speech), I had it read to me while I was driving to work...See....I was hooked! The story just keeps getting better and better! There are lots of twist and turns. Yet there were a few answers to some of my questions, and I must admit I guest a few correctly! The journey for Christina, Shaw, and the others is full of action and colorful descriptions. I can't wait to read the book so I can see what will happen. I love stores where good triumphs over evil!
If you've loved the "Future Savior" series thus far, then this book will be no exception! Things are really starting to get dangerous in Meric now, and we'll meet new allies as well as lose dear friends in the battles for peace. We also learn more answers to where Meric got it's start, as well as how & when Meric falls into the timeline. Hold on to your seat, as if you're like me, I was in the edge of mine the whole book! And the last few pages - wow! I especially didn't want this book to end! I loved this book, just as I love all of Jennifer's books!
