💔 Achy Breaky Heart Month! 💔 Super 🧀 Cheesy 🧀 Edition!

Geronimo Stilton: Hang on to Your Whiskers was just as 🧀 Gouda 🧀 as The Curse of the Cheese Pyramid, probably better. In this book Geronimo falls in love at first sight at the Tail Trap Diner over a cup of spilled coffee. ☕️ Geronimo later discovers this 🐭 fabumouse 🐭 new love interest is none other than countess Stephanie von Sugarfur. He thinks she’s the best thing since 🧀 sliced cheese 🧀!

After spending big on an 🧀 Aboundance 🧀 of 🧀 cheesy 🧀 gifts for the countess and realising his love is unrequited he becomes 🧀 Moody Blue 🧀. Geronimo’s sister Thea, cousin Trap and favourite nephew Benjamin decide they’ve 🧀 Goats 🧀 to lift him out of his 🧀 Off Kilter 🧀 state and after reading an article about the mysterious Eighth Wonder, the Valley of the 🧀 Cheesettes 🧀, they are certain they’ve found a way to repair Geronimo’s 💔 Achy Breaky Heart 💔.

The family wind up on a semi 🧀 Impromptu 🧀 trip to search for this Eighth Wonder. Perhaps if they succeed they will become 🐭 famouse 🐭. Naturally it’s up to the 9 year old to save the day because all of the adults are behaving like 🐭 mouselets 🐭.

Some of the best exclamations in this book include:
🧀 Cheese niblets!
🐀 Rancid Rat Hairs!
🧀 Holey cheese!

This book was first published in 2000 so the presence of a camera that has film that needs to be developed makes sense in that context. Ah, nostalgia. I loved my days working in a Photolab! The stories I could tell you - but won’t because this is a review of a children’s book. 📷 😜

This series is aimed at 🐭 mouselets 🐭 from 5 to 8 years who love to read and those who don’t. With splashes of funky formatted font, funny illustrations that complement the story well and maps of New 🐭 Mouse 🐭 City, 🐭 Mouse 🐭 Island and The 🐀 Rodent’s 🐀 Gazette, there’s plenty to keep the reader 🐭 amoused 🐭. I loved the illustrations and I’d just like to point out that on the cover those are glow in the dark butterflies!! 🦋😃 I’d like to place an order for several hundred of those please.

Overall I enjoyed this book more than The Curse of the Cheese Pyramid, probably because this one had a resolution and didn’t do the always irritating ‘Someone told me it would make a great story so I wrote a book about it, and guess what?! This is that story!' thing.

Thank you very much to NetGalley and Sweet Cherry 🍒 Publishing for the opportunity to read this book.

P.S. Apologies for recycling the 🧀 cheesy 🧀 names from my previous review but they worked for this one too. You may now press charges against me for excessive use of emojis and crimes against humour. 😊

I received this book for review via NetGalley.

I first noticed these books almost 10 years ago when I visited somebody and noticed them on their children’s bookshelves. Though I wanted to, I never really got down to reading one but when I saw this one offered through NetGalley, I simply couldn’t resist. In fact, I’ve even gone and read this out of turn (Melissa Albert’s The Hazel Wood was the NetGalley book I should have technically been reading since I am trying to read them in the order I get them).

So for the book now. Geronimo Stilton is an Italian book series featuring the eponymous hero who is the publisher of the Rodent’s Gazette. In this one (alternatively titled All Because of a Cup of Coffee) in a diner, a gorgeous mouse spills coffee on Geronimo and he is instantly in love (despite having a series of accidents just after). So much so, that he ignores his staff not working, forgets some of their names even, only dreaming of his love, and doodling hearts. He buys flowers, cheese-flavoured chocolates, but Stephanie von Sugarfur is simply not interested. In fact, she already has an admirer. To win her over, Thea, Geronimo’s sister convinces him that he has to be ‘famouse’ so they, with their cousin Trap, and little nephew Benjamin set off on an adventure to find the world’s eighth wonder―the Valley of the Cheesettes on Butterfly Island.

This was a really fun read. One could almost describe this as a picture book, with illustrations aplenty. The characters are cute and fun as well. Geronimo might well be a journalist/newspaper publisher but he isn’t all that keen on adventure (he scared of pretty much everything)―circumstances and his friends drag him into it. Thea (who I thought great fun) is his opposite―adventurous, a biker, and even flies her own plane. The story was pretty enjoyable, including the end. Besides the story itself I loved the little touches like the names of the characters and cheese references, besides also the maps and things. Since the ‘author’ of these adventures is supposed to be Geronimo himself, there is a nice little bio of him at the end describing him as a Rattus Emeritus of Mousomorphic Literature and Neo-Ratonic Comparative Philosophy and winner of the Ratlizer Prize, among other things. There are also maps of the New Mouse City, Mouse Island, and the offices of the Rodent’s Gazette, where the adventures are set. (In the e-version I got though, these were a little blurry, especially Mouse Island). Still I enjoyed the illustrations (these were B&W―I think the ones in the books are coloured), idea, and story. A quick and entertaining read.

One day Geronimo went to a coffee shop where he met the most beautiful rodent in the world. He tripped over and spilled his coffee. But somehow he survived. He tried to prove his love and went with his family to the Eight Wonders of the World! I liked their adventure and when they saw the butterflies, it must be an amazing feeling for them!

Every single Geronimo Stilton book, is a classic comedy and fun book on its own. Every book of this series and not only this series but also the Thea Stilton books are very fun to read. I love these books so much that I finished one the Geronimo Stilton books called 'The Very Merry Christmas' within an hour and the book was more than 150 pages, around 200 pages. Well in this book the title and the coverpage are enough to understand the entire book, this a classic comedy of how misconceptions can mount so high that people can't get out of them and just get stuck in them and flow with their misconceptions until stopped by the reality, they ,might shatter but they definitely feel terrible and sad. I must say this book is too funny and till the last page and last word, I was connected with the book and after that i felt that why did the book end so quickly. I strongly recommend everyone to read this book and the Geronimo and The Stilton series. I hope this review was helpful.

Geronimo meets a woman, who is so gorgeous he falls head over heels in love with her. He sends her flowers, chocolate cheeses, and can't speak around her. His sister, Thea and his cousin, Trap convince him to go with them (kicking and screaming) to search for a magical place on butterfly island. His nephew, Benjamin, goes along as a stow away. Benjamin and Geronimo find the 8th wonder and write about it. But he discovers that fame is not to his liking.

No, thank you. The different fonts and colors were cute, and I can see why it'd be fun for kids to read. Maybe I just happened to pick up the one with a crappy plot, I don't know, but Geronimo Stilton falls in love and basically it's a sexist stereotype on every page. The series is pretty popular with kids, so I need to read another one to find out if it was just this one I don't like, or the whole collection.

Geronimo is at breakfast one day when someone spills coffee on him. When he looks to see who did it, he immediately falls in love with the lady he sees there. For the next few days he is love struck, sending flowers and chocolate to Stephanie von Sugarfur, until he finds her getting in the car with another mouse. Through his heartbreak, his sister and cousin (with the help of a fortune teller) get him to go on an adventure to find the 8th wonder of the world. They tell him it will make him famous and then Stephanie will notice him.

I read this for a library licensing class, so I read it with a critical eye about format and design. To me, the storyline was a little discombobulated. I still don't understand why they needed to go to the island to find the 8th wonder, it doesn't fit nicely with the love storyline. Another observation in the use of color and font changes for different words throughout the book. I assume this is to help readers with more difficult words (ex: "mysterious" was written in a smokey-like font) or to help move the plot along (action words and dialogue). Overall, though, a cute story for a transitional reader.

All because of a cup of coffee. – Geronimo Stilton
“All because of a cup of coffee” is a great and humorous story about Geronimo a mouse who works at The Rats Gazette which is a newspaper factory. One day before Geronimo starts work he went to the local diner to eat breakfast. There a female mouse who actually is really famous accidentally pours coffee onto Geronimo. Geronimo now thinks that this mouse is his perfect soul mate. Geronimo travels across the world with his sister, nephew, and cousin to find a gift for he’s beloved mouse. I rate this 4 out of 5 because it is funny and the text is really creative.

Long story short, našli smo knjige i večeras sam mu pročitala ovu.

Miss 5 thought the book was okay. My issue with the book is that kids won't necessarily pick up on the fact that Geronimo's over the top behaviour and expectations (intended for comedic effect) are actually stalker behaviour and highly inappropriate - i.e. sending elaborate and expensive gifts (repeatedly), with the expectation of receiving a date from a stranger in return, and hiding in bushes to watch someone all because of a momentary chance encounter in a coffee shop is not love in any definition of the word.

What we like: The colourful pictures and exciting fonts. The way colour and interesting fonts are used to highlight words on each page is great for helping Miss 5 learn to read new words.

Miss 5 and I like to explore different books and authors at the library, sometimes around particular topics or themes. We try to get different ones out every week or so; it's fun for both of us to have the variety and to look at a mix of new & favourite authors.

Geronimo becomes infatuated with a famous celebrity that he buys her roses and chocolates, delivered to her doorstep. However, every time he comes into her vicinity, he begins acting clumsily. At the same time, Thea and Trap coax him to discover a potential 8th wonder of the world with Benjamin.

Turns out the reason why he was infatuated with her was because his mind did not have anything interesting to focus on initially. I thought that the way he rejected the celebrity was rude, and the illustration was not great. Seeing Geronimo being sought after by women just cos he helped to discover the 8th wonder was strange as well.

This is the first Geronimo Stilton book we have read and unfortunately it was not for us. To begin with my 5 year old son laughed but soon he was asking how much longer we had to read. My 9 year old daughter never seemed to get into it and at about 50% she asked if we had to finish it. We read together every night and it is rare that they don't want to finish a book. I finished it by myself and while bits are fun and cute we won't be looking for more Geronimo Stilton books.

Nice book. Have read it 28 times!
Because I get only 7 -10 books a week... hence have to read same books multiple times! Arghh!
Anyways, back to the review... the funniest part was a sentence which was "As soon as I entered the office ,my sister,Thea attacked me.😆😆. Thank God I dont have one!😉
Another one, "Geronimooo, where have you been? The meeting has already started! And what's with the Tobasco bottles in your nose!" Like seriously!! Bottles in the nose! 😉😆😁😃

It was a great book for kids. I read this book when I was in elementary school, and I have totally forgotten what this specific book was about. I was interested in reading it because of the engaging covers. All I remember is that Geronimo Stilton's books are full of comedy and fun, which made them enjoyable for kids to read. I also remember that this book was easy to understand, which made me want to read it.

Geronimo vibes:

A good starter for beginning chapter book readers! This novel has colorful illustrations and all the basic elements of a fictional novel to help bridge the gap between picture books and the next step, what I call 'big kid books'.
