The appearance of a unicorn means a great change is coming.

If scared away there is a Serpent nearby. The serpent means a great sadness.
One other change occurs as mysteries unravel themselves to her. Morgan's own feelings towards one of her guards. Faced with loss, love and some touches of magic Morgan has to become the Queen she is meant to be or succumb to a life worse than death-servitude.
Author Ellie Potts lives in Central Valley, CA with her husband and monster dogs. She thrives on tea, music, weird TV, and her own chaos. Making up stories has not only been something she has done since she was a kid but helps her cope with the crazy world she lives in.
I loved the world that was built in this novel. Morgan's kingdom is very well set up and described.
Princess Morgan, herself, was extremely easy to like. She was no simpering female and could keep up with all her father's knights- having been raised with them. She is such a tom boy!
Agnus is one of my favorite characters! She is a crazy old bat, but she is loving and hilarious!!
*sigh* There is this one part of the story that I knew was coming. I liked a certain character and a twist totally threw me for a loop. But It created a conspiracy, which I will admit is necessary for a novel of this sort.
I needed to know more about a certain character. He just seemed to come out of no where! But he grew on me. (:
Another character (sorry. no names!!) He really grew on me and then completely changed into someone un-likeable. I was all...Nooooooo!
I love love loved the camaraderie between all the knights and Morgan. They are all like bickering brothers with their younger sister. It was one of my favorite parts of the book!
All in all, this was a cute kingdom conspiracy with a sweet romance. It had some funny characters (Agnus. *ahem*), some obnoxious characters, a bad ass tomboy princess, brave knights, and some fantasy elements(<3). I liked it. (:
I won this book in a giveaway last summer, and it finally reached the top of my TBR. I had no idea what it was about when I started the first page (cover is deceiving), but I was soon caught up in the story of a feisty, young, independent-minded princess. Parts of the story seemed glossed over and the lack of depth made me wonder why some portions were even added, as they had no impact as the story as a whole. Some great character-building, and many of the relationships (e.g. Morgan and the palace guards) were a lot of fun. Over all, it was enjoyable. A good read.
This was a very interesting read, and made for a good relaxing weekend read. The characters aren't too complex, but they are very well thought out. They change and evolve throughout the story, some for the better, and some not so much. I love how Princess Morgan interacts with everybody, including the knights and other villagers. Her grandmother is a very interesting character also! There are fun times, horrible sadness, good friendships and familial relationships, and lots of conspiracy and uncertainty.
