It's A God Thing: When Miracles Happen to Everyday People

Rate this book
Some things in life have no earthly explanation. Miracles are not reserved for the characters in the Old and New Testaments; they happen to everyday people. Series creators Don Jacobson and K-LOVE Radio have joined together to produce one of the most remarkable collections of modern-day miracles ever compiled. From angel appearances in hospital rooms to a mother saved from a would-be assailant in Hyde Park, from a young autistic girl becoming a beautiful ballerina overnight to a young backpacker who walked away from a terrorist attack, It’s a God Thing presents some of the most amazing stories of God’s hand on our lives. Be motivated as never before to look for and witness the incredible ways that God is interacting in your life and the lives of those around you. “With their new book, It’s a God Thing , I believe K-LOVE and my friend Don Jacobson will call friends of Jesus everywhere to look for His capers around the world! Do you know why God involves Himself in our lives? Because God is love and love does!” ―Bob Goff, author of the New York Times bestseller Love Does “Every day we all are faced with stress, situations we can’t control and often the fear that we really are all alone. . . . These stories give us courage in times of peril and strengthen us when we feel helpless.”―TobyMac, top Christian artist and Grammy Award winner “In It’s a God Thing true servants of God share how their lives were transformed when their understanding became the Father’s. What a blessing to be a child of the King!” ―Missy Robertson, star of Duck Dynasty “There is so much going on around us that we never see. Life is all about perspective, and when that lines up with the hand of God, it is remarkable to witness. This book and collection of stories from my friends at K-LOVE will inspire and encourage you greatly!” ―Andy Andrews, New York Times best-selling author, The Noticer and The Traveler’s Gift “Sometimes I’m guilty of looking so hard for God that I miss Him right in front of me. May we all be reminded through It’s a God Thing that some of the simplest moments in life can quite possibly be some of God’s greatest miracles.”―Bart Millard, lead singer of MercyMe “Nothing astonished people in the New Testament more than watching Jesus perform a miracle right before their eyes―and nothing inspires us today more than hearing He did it again! My good friend Don Jacobson, publisher of The Prayer of Jabez , has once again launched the perfect message for today―don’t miss it!”―Bruce Wilkinson, author, The Prayer of Jabez “There is nothing better than hearing others talk about the ways that God has intervened in their lives. Miracles happen every day all around the world. These stories are incredible.”―Robert D. Smith, author, 20,000 Days and Counting “God doesn’t need for us to be aware of the miracles He’s performing, but they’re happening every day! It’s a God Thing , a new book from K-LOVE, is a powerful vehicle to tell the story of a number of those miracles.”―Brandon Heath, 2008 New Artist of the Year Dove Award winner

It's A God Thing was such an interesting read. I got this as a Kindle freebie and finally picked it up to read. I liked how the stories showcased miracles (sometimes even tiny ones) that happened in people's lives. It was a great reminder of how God works in our lives.

I got a good feeling reading this book of personal experiences with "miracles." It might also be titled "More than coincidence." I had a friend who had a similar experience where the helping person just disappeared when they turned around. This book is healing and loving. If you are having faith questions or are shaky in belief in something other than physical, this may be a good place to start. Minimal preaching. Maximum love. Collection of personal testimonies about God's goodness are often encouraging. This one is very up-to-date, having just been published. It even includes an event which happened during the 2013 Boston Marathon, which wasn't even a year ago.

My favourites were the stories about God's protection, and how individuals were saved from death through accidents and probable murder. There are clear supernatural protection elements involved. I also like being reminded of the subtlety with which little, serendipitous God-incidences may occur. As many of us do, I have a few of my own, and it reinforced that they were indeed divine appointments, because of their similarity to others within this book.

Here's a word of warning for the tender-hearted, though. What I didn't like so much was the number of stories concerning the deaths of loved-ones, often children. Although each of the authors made it clear that they felt God's love during these times of bereavement, I still felt very sad reading them and shed some tears. If you're expecting a book which consists of nothing but uplifting, happy-making experiences, this might not fit the bill.

I received a copy from Net Galley and Thomas Nelson in return for an honest review.

Highly recommended.

I loved this book so much! Reading this book grew my faith in God. It showed me how faithful God really is. He cares about the smallest things like making sure His children have enough money, to the biggest thing, like healing a baby with health issues. There are so many testimonies of God's goodness, and these are just some of them. These 46 testimonies were great to read because it shows that God still does miracles. He is a miracle-working God. He is a God who nothing is impossible (Luke 1:37, Matthew 19:26). Thank You, Lord Jesus, for being all-powerful, Almighty, and for doing the impossible. You are the same yesterday, today, and forever (Hebrews 13:8). Thank You for the price You paid for us on the cross that allows us to be free, healed, saved, and delivered. There is no one like You.

God always gets five stars. After all, he created the ones in the sky, and his miracles are as countless. There is no scientific explanation for miracles. There doesn't need to be. Things happen, or don't, or are influenced in small and large ways. Miraculous events continue to influence and inspire.
Many thanks to all who shared their stories in It's A God Thing: When Miracles Happen to Everyday People, by Don Jacobson. This book has been a delightful read.

What a great collection of God’s miracles. From big to small, seemingly insignificant need to life saving, this is a series of experiences different people have had. I think these are good reminders of God’s works. I’m sure there could be a limitless series of these books with more and more miracles.

This was a really great collection of short true stories that were very encouraging for me. I loved reading about how God has shown up in the lives of other people in both the big and the small things. These testimonies helped to strengthen my faith and remind me that He is involved in all aspects of our lives. Even in the saddest or most tragic moments, He is good and He is with us.

They say nothing breeds success like success. It is also true, then, that nothing breeds hatred like hatred and nothing breeds skepticism like skepticism. This tome invites you to rub shoulders with fellow travellers who have experienced the supernatural.

It’s a God Thing is full of stories about miracles, some extraordinary and some seemingly more ordinary, but in reality no less miraculous. One of the goals of the writer(s) of this book was to remind the readers that God’s guidance is all around us every day (from the introduction). I think they did an excellent job.

Some of the stories may seem like mere coincidences, but what I like to call God-incidents, and I am agreeing with the author(s) here that such things could be rightly called miracles.

Not every story has a completely happy ending but every story is truly edifying in its own way to some degree or another. Every story is also unique.

One of the very best things about this book was the very large variety in the type of stories, all the different topics of miracles that were included. They were not all about physical healing although those were included. They were not all about financial miracles although those were included. Some other topics were healing from addictions, salvation from natural or man-made disasters, and just plain old spiritual salvation, which as the author(s) pointed out could very well be the greatest miracle of them all. There were other topics as well, almost any topic you can imagine was included.

Reading this book didn’t exactly give me faith, since faith is not made from things that are seen or experienced but it gave me the desire to apply my faith to my life. That is what inspiring faith is all about. It can’t be imparted but it can be encouraged to be used. This book did that for me.

If you would like encouragement to apply your faith in your life this book is for you. If you generally like miracle stories this book is for you. If you are a staunch skeptic this book probably isn’t going to change your mind. No book, no story, no testimony is likely to change your mind. Only the touch of God will do that.

I originally chose to request this book because of the K-LOVE banner across the bottom of the cover.
I wasn't sure what I would find when I opened up this beautiful collection, but I like to think I was led to request it even though I DIDN'T know what was inside.

It's a God Thing is a collection of miracles in the modern day. I was entranced from the very first chapter - having had a similar experience myself, I felt the heartache and sadness this woman must have felt during the early days of her grief, having to give away her baby boy's clothes, coming to terms that she won't ever get to dress him in them. BUT THEN. God places a little boy (and a baby girl) into her life and it's the same little boy who she had given her son's clothes to not so long ago.

God is in the details, whether they be large or small!

All of the accounts are written beautifully, and I was blown away by the miracles that are taking place EVEN NOW! I was chilled by God saving a lady from being murdered, and had my heart in my throat when God saved a lady from dying during 9/11. Tears ran down my face as a lady discovered that her grandfather has seen the letter in which she described God's Love for him before he passed away.

It's a God Thing is something that can provide hope in a quick, easy to read format. There's Scripture referenced throughout and the feeling you have when you turn that final page is extraordinary. I truly enjoyed this book!

It's a God Thing is a collection of 46 stories that will inspire and delight the reader. I like to have books like this on my beside table for when I want a quick inspiring read that will help confirm and strengthen my faith. This book was compiled by Don Jacobson who has been in the Christian publishing business for over 30 years and K-Love which is a radio station that is supported by its listeners.

One thing that I have learned over the years is to be grateful to God for unanswered prayers because of course we often pray for things to happen which in the end are not in our best interest. Story 24 - Thanking God for unanswered prayer confirmed this belief. In this story, Ray Whipps recounts his time in Europe during World War II. Events keep happening to this young soldier, repeated situations where his prayers were unanswered or answered with a No. He keeps asking "Why?" to himself. He ended up in a hospital in Cherbourg during the war due to injuries where he met his future wife Betty. Near the end of the war Ray was in a prisoner-of-war camp, close to death when his camp was liberated by the Allied troops. Behind the scenes the Lord was working to ensure that Betty and Ray found each other and both made it home to marry and have a family. They did not lose their faith in God. The Lord works in mysterious ways to move our lives in directions we never imagined.

Great book to inspire and remind us of that life is a God thing!

it's a God thing is forty-six independent stories each telling how God's love, power and/or provision impacted each writer's life. It is a fast and encouraging read that is jam packed with modern-day miracles. The titles of some of these individual stories are quite intriguing. For instance: My God Coma, The Unlikely Ballerina, Does God Watch Baseball?, I Give You My Angel, The Dog, the Chicken, and the Bomb, Midnight Stranger, Hostage, The Day God Flew My Airplane, and many more.

This is the perfect book to place on your nightstand, and read each night before you go to sleep. The stories are a great length, not too long and not too short. Emotions run high when reading these stories, some will require tissues for the tenderhearted. I have loved reading each of these stories and cannot wait until the next it's a God thing comes out.

Some may say these miracles are just coincidences, but I don't believe in those. I believe everything happens for a reason, and after looking back in my life I have seen many God things. I hope that this book will remind people that God is with us daily, that we are not alone, and He does work in our lives. Take a step back and look for it.

Do you have a God thing to share? You can submit your story to be considered for the volume of It's a God Thing by visiting http://itsagodthing.com. And don't worry, if you've never written anything they have a writer who will help you tell your story.

Immediately when I saw this book, I knew I wanted to read it. This book contains 46 wonderful stories of God’s miracles! I am a big fan of K-LOVE Radio and I donate $5 a month, it’s not much but it’s something, and that was one reason why I wanted to read this book, I have also read Don’s other book, “When God Makes Lemonade”. These stories are powerful and will touch your heart. Some may give you tears and some may make you smile. There are many situations in our lives where we think things aren’t possible, but that’s when we come to prayer. You pray for the good and the bad, the right and the wrong and it can have a great outcome. Prayer really does save lives! I really encourage you to read this book, whether you are a Christian or struggling to become one.

It's a God Thing was a very fun book to read, provided to me by Thomas Nelson Publishing through the BookSneeze program in exchange for an honest review. It reminded me of the "Chicken Soup for the Soul" series but with much more of a God twist.
There are forty-six independent stories in this book, each telling a great story of God's provision, love, and/or power. There are stories of births and deaths, stories of accidents and natural disaster, stories of bombs and wars.
Some of the chapter titles really make you wonder. What is God going to do with yellow cups? Or a dog barking at a chicken? Each story gives you a glimpse as to how God can and does care for each one of His children.

I truly enjoyed this book. There were many stories of people being cured of cancer in this second volume of It's a God Thing and giving the glory to God. They touched me deeply because my mother has recently gone into remission from stage 4 Ovarian cancer. God is good. Thank you Jesus!
