Joan Defers is a lover of manly men and fancy underpants. She blogs at JoanDefers.com, where she hopes to deliver quality erotic content to Internet smarties. She’s currently working on the next story in the Good Girls series, and she’s probably just two innocent mistakes away from a much-deserved spanking.

This was the first book I've read by Joan Defers, and I was intrigued by the blurb that said "this is not a romance." Good, I thought. I don't typically read romances. Ms. Defers did not disappoint me. Katie-bug is a vignette, a brief glimpse into the sex life of trophy wife, Kate, and her husband. Their marriage is not a comfortable situation which was partly why I found it so compelling. Kate is conflicted and horny. Part of her is appalled by what she's willing to do yet she still does it. As I was reading, part of me was saying DON'T DO IT! Then the other part of me was yelling DO IT, DO IT, DO IT! I felt how torn Kate was when faced with new sexual situations, but that only managed to turn me on. Like I said, it's not exactly a comfortable feeling but it definitely is titillating.

Ms. Defers is deft at capturing the range of emotions in her character while giving her exciting sexual situations to navigate. I appreciate someone who is mostly willing to push their sexual boundaries, and I loved reading Kate's inner dialogue as she obeyed her husband's commands. The sex party scene was, well... let's just say that when my boyfriend came home I read the scene out loud to him and, well... um... it was a really enjoyable evening. *cough* Am I allowed to say that in a review??

Anyway, I thoroughly enjoyed this story and am looking forward to reading more of Ms. Defers' work.

This is one of those rare books that presented some pretty dark things that normally would have turned me off...but instead really turned me on. By dark I mean cocaine use and a truly dick of a husband who doesn't care about his wife's pleasure or willingness to participate. It's not rape, he's just an ass.

Don't let the short length of this book deter you from trying it out. Joan Defers is a very, very good erotica writer (on par with Selena Kitt), and I enjoyed this book much more so than the first in the series, Sugar.
