Rate this book
High Rollers operations director, Grayson Barrett, is loving life. He travels around the country, working hard, partying harder, and engaging in no-strings attached fun whenever the urge strikes. But when he returns to his home base in Texas to find that his business partner has hired a new accounting manager, he’s not amused. She’s gorgeous, intelligent, and clearly not interested in him.

After a bitter divorce, Alana Holmes moves to Austin to start over. Her previous position, working for her husband’s company, was a nightmare. She was living under his powerful thumb, forced to follow his rules, at home and at work. Not that she’s finally broken free of him; she’s determined to make it on her own. She has a new home, new job and new opportunities. The only complication is Grayson, who bears a striking resemblance to her ex, in more ways than one.

There were lots of plot twists in this novel. The plot development and character development could have used more work. The book does provide good escape. I just felt as if the story dragged on too long. I'm not sure that I understand the significance of the title either.

Disclaimer: I received an ARC of this book from the author for my honest review and post.

So I have been anxiously waiting for the chance to read the third book in the Texas Titans series by Cheryl Douglas. As I've said before I'm huge fan of all of Cheryl's book since I found the very first book in the Nashville Nights series. Also kind of funny that I was anxiously waiting for this book to come out because I have yet to read the second book in this series yet. I have read the first one Strike Out, which I loved. So I guess at some point I will have to go back and read the second book in this series. I love the Texas Titans series because it goes in a little different direction than Cheryl's Nashville series.

I really like the beginning of First Down it had me laughing especially when Grayson finds out that Jaxon went behind his back and hired Alana.

I kind of had a hard time liking Alana in this book, and I've only had that happen with two other female character's in Cheryl's books. Its not that she's an unlikeable character, I just wasn't really feeling her. Though I was very happy that she was able to and wanted to get away from her controlling ex-husband.

I absolutely loved Grayson's character in this book and even though he did some thing's behind Alana's back. I could understand why he did them and loved him even more for it.

I would definitely have to give this book a solid 4 out of 5 stars and can't wait for the next book to come out.

I loved this book! Once again Cheryl has woven this two characters beautifully together! I loved their story and the depth of Alana & Grayson. Once I started I couldn't put it down until I finished!

Cheryl Douglas has done it again!!! I can't put her books down. First Down is about Grayson who is a controlling man. He is head a financial department of High Rollers. When his friend hires Alana as an accountant, he is upset and demands that she come in for a second interview with him and he does a background check on her.
Grayson starts to have feeling for her and wants to protect her and give her everything. He tries to control her and goes so far as to tell her where she should live. But Alana isn't having any of it. Then she fines out that he had done the background check and other things.
Can they make it together? Can they learn to trust the other one?
What a fantastic story!! Would recommend it to everyone!!!

I just received this book as an ARC for an honest review and was a great read! As always I can count on Cheryl Douglas to entertain with a great story. This book is about another partner at High Rollers, Grayson Barrett , the operations director. Jaxon hires Alana Holmes as the new accounting manager while Grayson is on a business trip and when he comes back sparks fly. Alana is moving to Arlington, Texas, from California to start over from a domineering ex-husband and Grayson has a striking resemblance to her ex. This book has great characters some of who we met in the previous books and some new ones like Alana's friend Kari. Great Read! http://harpsromancebookreview.com

This story is centered on two main characters Grayson and Alana. Grayson is the Operations Director for High Rollers. He travels a lot and has the no strings attached theory about the women he meets. He really isn't looking for a steady relationship until Alana walks in for a second interview with his company.
Alana fresh from a disaster of a marriage is looking for a restart on her life. Then she sees Grayson for the first time and he reminds her of someone from her past. Someone she wants to forget.

Cheryl Douglas once again writes an amazing story. This book I couldn't put down. What an outstanding story!!! I can't wait for the next book.
