Jade fell in love with the opera “Salome” as a student at the Manhattan School of Music, though deploring the wanton, blood-lusting image Salomé had been given when her only sin was to become enamored with a gorgeous hunk of prophet who then spurned and cursed her.

This was the beginning of a decade-long journey to give Salomé back her innocence that took Jade from NY to Germany where she eventually met her writing partner. It led her to Wellington, New Zealand in 2003 with a first draft of a “Salomé” screenplay where she met “Lord of the Rings” production people – and was told she should write the novel. The journey continues – in the hope that “Salomé” will become the epic motion picture she was originally intended to be.

Jade now lives in the beautiful “Middle of Middle Earth”!

"Salomé" - A Fantasy/Science Fiction Novel by J. Valor & S. Pryce is a fantastic read with with many layers weaved within its pages. The story is well crafted and thought out, leaving the reader anticipating what will happen next.

When I began reading, I will admit that I was a little apprehensive about how I would feel about it as a whole. I started reading it believing it would be a Young Adult novel, and although it was meant to be, I think the tone lends it to a more mature audience at times. One of the lines in the first chapter dealt with nakedness and breasts, hinting at a sexual activity that was taking place. After reading the first chapter, I felt that maybe I was not giving it a fair chance, so I reread the chapter from an adult perspective instead of a YA perspective. The tone seemed appropriate and I was able to absorb myself into the pages.

The book is split into four parts, Elijah: Birth and Death, Salomé: The awakening, The Journey, and Saba Rising. Each part has its own individual chapters. Within the book there is quite a bit of Hebrew text, which is translated within to help the reader understand what is being said. I loved the layer that the additional language added, allowing the reader to think as he or she is reading through and experiencing the characters as though they are living and breathing beings.

"Salomé" is an addicting read that should immediately be added to any sci-fi/fantasy must read list. Be sure to visit the book's Amazon and Goodreads page to leave your review, to let J. Valor and S. Pryce know how much you enjoyed the book!

I was excited to have been contacted by Malena PR to read and review J. Valor & S. Pryce’s epic novel Salome, a book I might have never come across otherwise, which would have been a shame

The House of Saba has waited mellinia for the coming of the Daughter who will save them in their time of need. It had been prophesied by the Seeress of Solomon’s wife, and each time a woman gave birth, everyone in the House waited in ectsasy and fear to see if this would be the One for whom they were waiting.

When Ayanna, tge wife of Archlord Cyrus of Doreh, gives birth to her daughter, they know she is the One. They name her Salome, meaning “Peaceable One”.

When she comes of age, she will save Doreh and everywhere else in this futuristic, fictional Middle East. But, to keep her safe, her doting father will have to die and divert his enemies’ attentions. But, with his dark brother, the Prince, and the unrest of the nation, will it be enough, as the prophet Elijah says it will? And what is this bond Salome seems to have forged with Jack, the son of a photographer who had been statiegically placed within the House of Saba by Elijah?

Most of all, will Salome do what is intended of her, or will she die trying?

As a whole, Salome is truly a masterpiece. Every scene is described with scrupulous detail, each character is given his or her own personality and the anticipation the reader feels as they turn every page is intense.

I enjoy the slightly twisted version of the Middle East, and its differences from the real world make Salome even more enjoyable than if it were traditional.

I also liked that it was set in a modern time as opposed to all of it being set in the past, as many novels of this style are. It shows a great level of creativity from the authors.

It can seem like a long read because it requires concentration, it actually took me a little more than three days to read, but it is worth every second.

I recommend this read to anyone and everyone who wants a fun, yet intense story with a strong plot, interesting subplots and colorful characters.

And, if you need yet another reason to pick up this modern-day epic, it is endorsed by the creators of Lord of the Rings!

5/5-masterfully created!

A thrilling story of a young woman who is to save the world from the utmost evil. The heroine's name is Salomé - the Peace-bringer. This fantasy novel is written in a powerful language that grips you and touches you. The description of places and people are very rich and colourful. The characters stay with you, first and foremost Elijah the prophet, the evil Magnates and - of course - beautiful Salomé herself.

I am still reading, so my final vote is yet to be made. So far I like it a lot.

I wanted to like this novel. I love new fiction and sci-fi, fantasy and horror especially, but this book was just too bloated for me to enjoy. It would have been a better novel if it had been filled with less flowery descriptives and more substance. I strongly feel there was a good novel in this book somewhere, but I did not want to wade through all the gobldey gook to get there.
