Fast cars and a smokin' hot passion... Rex intends to own and drive his own car, but that will cost him millions up front. Last season was a disaster, thanks to a nasty break up, but it taught him a lesson and helped sharpen his focus on what he needed to do: Win every race. And stay away from pretty girls. The last thing he needed was to learn that his new head mechanic, Jimmy James, was the gorgeous redhead pin-up walking around his pit like it was some kind of dance floor. Gail "Jimmy" James is the first female NASCAR mechanic. As if competing in a man's world isn't tough enough, her bombshell figure bellies her genius IQ, and the pit is no place for either. Nothing Jimmy knew about Rex Henderson the driver prepared her for Rex Henderson the man. But Jimmy has no time to dwell on her feelings as strange mechanical problems curse Rex's car. Whether sabotage or her own mistakes, Jimmy must stay one step ahead of trouble if she's going to keep her job, and keep her driver alive...

First off I would like to thank FMB Blog Tours for allowing me to be on this tour. I LOVE NASCAR racing and have watched it with my grandfather and uncles since I can remember. There is something about fast cars and fast men! Full Throttle will take you on such a ride between the romance that is there but both parties fighting it to the suspense part where someone is out to get Rex.

Rex is a NASCAR driver who is trying to start his life all over again.Between the nasty break up and the terrible season he has had all Rex wants to do is start all over again. He intends to own his own car and drive it but that takes money and winning status to do that. So he has get his head out of the clouds and focus long enough to snag the wins. Well the phrase better said than done comes to mind because Rex has to look for a new mechanic and what he gets is definitely not what he bargained for. In steps his new mechanic none other than Jimmy James. You are thinking okay what could be wrong with Jimmy James well she is a girl!

Gail Jimmy James is the best mechanic out there. She has brains and beauty and she wants to help Rex out. But being a girl and a NASCAR mechanic just don't add up. Right from the start the guys don't take her seriously but she is determined to be the best mechanic for Rex and when things start to happen to Rex and his race car she will stop at nothing to find out who is behind it and why.

Come along for the greatest NASCAR ride and find romance where you least expect it and find out who is behind Rex's sabotaging and why. I love me some NASCAR drivers!

I received this book as part of the Goodreads First Reads program and I was really excited to read it since it was the first book I won.

The book tells the story of Gail "Jimmy" James and Rex Henderson.

Jimmy James is a fierce, stubborn, competitive, pin-up bombshell with hot-red hair. She's also the head-mechanic in Howard Motors, a NASCAR racing team.

Mechanic Girl
Gail "Jimmy" James

Rex Henderson is a hot-tempered, stubborn, competitive, built player, who's broken . He's the principal driver in Howard Motors, .

Mechanic Guy
Rex Henderson

All in all, I liked the story although it took me forever to finish it (maybe I'm just not used to paperbacks anymore) .
Despite that, it was a fun read with lots of plot twists.
In my review, I gave it a 3.5 that was then downgraded to a 3 because of some editing errors found, that impaired the reading for me.

Note: I thank the writers Evan Trevane and Shawn M. Casey (AKA T.C. Archer) for the opportunity to read this book through Goodreads First Reads and hope my review has made Full Throttle justice.

The following review is my opinion and not a paid review. I received a copy of Full Throttle from the author via Full Moon Bites Book Tours for review.

All NASCAR driver Rex Henderson wanted was to own and drive his own car. To own his own car was going to cost him a lot of money. He knew from all the mistakes that occurred last season he was going to have to win all the races and stay away from all the pretty girls. Rex never dreamed that his new head mechanic (Gail "Jimmy" James) would turn out to be a girl.

Not only does Jimmy have a hard time being accepted by Rex but her pit crew has a hard time accepting her as a mechanic. When things start happening to car #14 everyone thinks that it is all just a rookie mistake. Jimmy knows she is being blamed because she is a female. But when Jimmy gets a threatening note they begin thinking that maybe it is not a rookie mistake that it may be sabotage. Someone is trying to get Rex out of NASCAR for good or they just want Jimmy gone. NASCAR and a woman in the crew pit doesn't mix, racing is a man's game. Jimmy is determined to find out who is sabotaging car #14 to save her job and Rex.

I have to say that I have never been much of sports fan. I do on occasion watch sports on tv. But I do have a NASCAR driver though and was very excited to read Full Throttle. I honestly didn't think that I would like it very well. But guess what I loved it. I liked the suspense, the romance but what I really liked about it was the mechanical parts. I liked reading and learning about the restrictor plates and Jimmy taking the drive shaft out and putting it back in during a pit stop. I also loved finding out that they could read the temperature of the tires during the race. I don't know very much at all about working on cars but I do know a little bit. I know how and can use a ratchet.

Full Throttle was a better read than I could have ever imaged. It was extremely well written, explaining everything in detail. If you don't know much about NASCAR and want to learn then you need to read Full Throttle.

I loved how this book started out and I loved how the book ended. This book starts out strong with a fierce dislike between Rex and his mechanic. It seemed like the only reason he did not like his mechanic was because she was beautiful. What starts out as a hate/hate relationship turns into love, but you know what they say “Love and hate, two sides of the same coin”.

Rex almost had everything he thought he wanted within his grasp. He could see success, fame, and fortune staring him in the face. Then all of a sudden, it is gone. He had everything snatched from him quicker than a snowflake melting over an open flame. Then he has to sell his one prized possession to keep things afloat. He is determined to will everything back. He knows that he can make it happen.

Jimmy is the new head mechanic for Rex. She, yes I said she, is one of the top mechanics in the automotive industry. That is very impressive considering the automotive industry is very harsh. Jimmy, loves NASCAR, while her brothers loves Formula One. Jimmy has been hurt by love in her life. The guy told her it was either him or NASCAR. I will never understand why someone would say something so stupid. If you love someone then you love everything about them, faults and all their interest, their quirks, their passion everything. I guess with someone say that just proves they are shallow.

I admit that NASCAR is not my favorite sport. Okay you got me I am not much of a sports fan. I had rather read. I know big surprise. However, this is a very interesting, fun read. The strong characters, the interesting plot everything. Are you looking for that next great weekend read? Click on one of the above buy links because this is it!

Thanks for a great read Shawn & Evan aka TC Archer.

The bunnies and I give this book 4 carrots.

I was gifted this book when taking part in a VBT. I received no compensation for reading/reviewing this book. The above opinion is my own and not a paid review. To form your own opinion please support the author and purchase a copy.

This book is a very light read, even with the mystery and suspense thrown in, I found it very easy to read and got through it fairly quickly. Whew. Let me just say that I love Rex's character. It might be his southern drawl... hell, IT IS his southern drawl. He's very serious about his racing and about those he cares about. He's not the brooding type, far from it. He'll say what he wants and he'll throw a few wrenches in the mix to throw you off and smile while doing it, all while calling you "Darlin'". This book was different for me, I'm not a big NASCAR fan, but this book definitely took me into the NASCAR world and I enjoyed it. I loved the adrenalin that this book oozes when you're reading about Rex on his last lap going head to head with the other drivers, racing towards the finish line.

I loved that this book was an easy read for me, keeping up with Rex & Jimmy was easy and I thought these two characters were well developed, but I can beg to differ for the other characters. I felt the other characters were just thrown in to make the story more whole. That doesn't mean I didn't enjoy it, cause I totally did. I just figured the other characters could've been brought more to life. I also liked that this wasn't a "throw-myself-all-over-you" kinda book. The attraction between Rex & Jimmy was always there but the acknowledging part was a slow buildup. I loved Jimmys character, being the first female mechanic in NASCAR is definitely something to look up to. She's definitely not a push over and will take the guys' jokes lightly. All in all, this book was really good. I just wish I could connect more with the other characters.

I would recommend this book. If you're looking for something light and easy with a bit of a mystery thrown in, then this book is for you.

It took me a lot longer then I first thought to get through this story. Not from lack of interest but there were a lot a technical terms I did not understand and basically I know nothing about cars. Once I was past that the story line was amazing, it was more of a mystery then a romance. Gail "Jimmy" James is a very interesting female character. She was independent, stubborn, tough and the kind of girl I would love my future daughters to be like. There were times I wanted to scream at the book for her to just listen for once! Especially once Rex and her attraction for each other came into play. Speaking of Rex let me just say, wow. His accent is the most sexiest thing about him. There weren't many love scenes but more point to the mystery of who is trying to hurt Gail. I loved that about this book, it made me keep reading just to see who was behind all of Rex, Gail and Howard Motors terrible luck. Let me just tell you it surprised the hell out of me who was behind all the attacks and made me a very happy camper that I hung in there till the end. Granted it did start off slow and I struggled a little in the beginning to convince myself to read one more chapter. So very happy my pep talks worked!

T.C. Archer is a very amazing author who writes beautifully! This would be the second thing I have read and can honestly say I am now a loyal fan and can not wait to read more!! Trust me this is worth it all in the end!

OMG what can I say?! A-MA-I-ZIN'!! There is action, suspense, and excitement in this book. As well as rushes of adrenaline for those NASCAR fans.

Gail "Jimmy" James, being the best qualified mechanic Winston (team owner) could find after the dead of his head mechanic and a female at that, has a hard time being accepted by her team mates. Then strange things started to happened and her experience is called into question. But when a threatening note appears on her tool box that is when things go from "rookie mistake" to serious matters.

Rex Henderson, driver of No. 14 and resident hunk, is attracted to Jimmy from the beginning but his racing comes first as his only desire is to owe his own team. But when problems start to come to the surface where they point to mechanical in nature he is put to the test on the faith he has for Gail. Also it comes to the light (at least to HIS light) how he truly feels for her.

I really liked this book and that even when it was a romantic book not all was focused on the romance.

The only thing I was disappointed on was that I guessed who was behind all fairly quick. But overall I loved the story. It was something new, different and refreshing.

Being the first female chief mechanic for a NASCAR team has its good side and its bad just ask Gail "Jimmy" James. With bad things happening to the car she is working on and later threats it's enough to make a girl wonder if she is paranoid or if someone is really out to get her.

Rex Henderson is less than thrilled when he finds out his new mechanic Jimmy is female, it doesn't hurt that she turns him on from the second he laid eyes on her. Now it looks like someone is after Jimmy and has sabotaged to his car on a couple of occasions.

This has a good story to it , I like the suspenseful/mystery elements to it as well. The sexual tension is high but not a ton of actual sex scenes in here, however enough to make it a little steamy. The hardest part of this book for me is it is FILLED with technical NASCAR speak and as someone who has never watched a race in my life I was lost. I am sure if you have a passing knowledge of NASCAR you will appreciate this far more than I did.

Such a nice easy read. I really liked the characters. Rex with his sexy southern drawl and Gail "Jimmy" James was a credit to women everywhere. Being from the South myself, I really enjoyed the NASCAR theme. Don't worry, if you don't like NASCAR, it's not all racing. You have a great mystery that I was trying to figure out through the whole book and never would have guessed that it played out the way it did! This book also offers some romance and steam. The secondary characters were brought to life as well. Duff was one of my favorites. I saw him as the father figure of the team. And Gail's brother John, I found myself wanting more of him in this book! This is my first TC Archer book and I loved their writing style! The words flowed well and I was able to picture every scene. I will be sure to read more from TC Archer!

Full Review posted on Book Lovin' Mamas

I will tell you this TC Archer knows how to get your heart pounding, right foot pushing at the floor pretending it is the accelerator, and sweat pooling at your temples due to the scenes she described on the track and the crew area (pit stop). I thought I was on track with Rex and there listening to what Jimmy was listening to in her earphones. Makes me want to watch NASCAR again even when my husband and my two girls do not like it. They could deal with it. LOL

I give this book 3.5 moons and recommend it to romantic suspense readers out there, and readers who love those sexy race car drivers.

I received a complimentary copy of the book for the blog tour in exchange for an honest review.

After a bad breakup, NASCAR driver Rex Harrison wants nothing to do with women. Rex wants to focus on being the best at racing and another year of indiscretions cannot happen. Rex thinks he is free and clear of anything female, until he meets his new mechanic Gail "Jimmy" James. Jimmy is all woman and despite his wish she would go away, she is the best out there. When it looks like someone is trying to discredit her as a mechanic, Rex is by her side leading to some unusual turn of events.

Riveting story. Jimmy is a handful, she is a tomboy to boot and doesn't take any guff, especially from Rex. When Rex realizes his feelings for her are more than professional, he goes out of his way to get Jimmy to recognize it. I thought this was a lot of fun, love a good racing story.

I have to admit honestly I found it hard to enjoy this story. Only for the fact that Im not well educated on Nas cars, Mechanical parts or cars. So for most of the story, these details did not really faze me or have me eager to read on.

Initially at first I knew it was about racing cars - hot cars and what not else,** waggles eyebrows** but I found as an uneducated reader in this field I was just not able to enjoy the romance - storyline as much.

I am only rating this story on my own personal thoughts - and this may appeal to other readers whom enjoy more detailed information into the racing circuit.

The writing was well written of course, T C Archer has done her homework as far as putting forth the dynamics of the race car scene. But Im afraid it just wasnt enough for me.

I really like Gail’s character; she made a great female lead. How could I not like a woman with her skills? She's beautiful, well-educated, and competent, which made Rex’s instantaneous attraction more realistic. As for Rex a sexy man with a smooth southern drawl, whats not to love? I am a huge NASCAR fan and the amount of research and knowledge was remarkable, but sometimes the details about the inner workings NASCAR overwhelmed even me. The suspense side of this book often went too far, but the author pulled it together in the end.

I love that saying "when opposites attract" its even more great when you add that to Tc's Full Throttle. Nascar, hot tempers, suspense and even hotter attraction are a great combination for this book.
Gail "Jimmy" James and Rex Henderson are fantastic, instant chemistry even through the determination of both of them to avoid each other.
Jimmy James the first female mechanic starts to realize that Rex Henderson is nothing like the driver she thought she knew. When mysterious incidents start happening suspicions begin to rise.
I really enjoyed the steady build of suspense and mystery in Full Throttle, I honestly think this is the best book I've read by T.C. yet.

Deb's Review:

Full Throttle starts out with a strong hate between Rex and Jimmy but finishes strong.

Rex is sex on a stick, at least that's how I describe him. He's an over-achiever wanting to build his own racing team, but when does life ever work out the way he plans? Rex made me laugh at some of his antics with "Gail aka Jimmy" but there is so much more to this hero. Rex will do anything for the ones he loves. The mystery and the racing was a bigger part of the story than the romance, but I thought that the mystery part was really good and kept me guessing to the end. The story did get a bit confusing in the last half, and the romance bit felt a bit rushed and on the side. As a whole I liked this story and I think everyone can enjoy it, NASCAR fans or not.
