Tycoon Warrior is a book by Sheri Whitefeather in the Texas Cattleman’s Club: Lone Star Jewels series. Dakota Lewis, ex-soldier, is still involved in dangerous missions. And it was during such a mission that his wife, Kathy left him. But she has never told him why, and she is beginning to feel guilty about that. For one thing, she still loves him. For another, she might just be asking something of Dakota that is unreasonable. This is a somewhat tedious romance that pivots on the lack of communication between husband and wife. The hero is rather too perfect; the heroine, simply frustrating. It is part of a series, but can be read as a stand-alone. It would have benefitted from some judicious editing. Mediocre.

Great series

I enjoyed this series. This was a great way to end this installment of the Texas Cattlemans club series. I'm upset I just found out about this series.

Setting: Dakota’s ranch in Texas; Asterland (small European county)

Theme:
Communication; forgiveness; regaining a love thought to be lost;

Characters:
Dakota Lewis: member of the Texas Cattleman’s Club; part Cherokee; ex-black ops, now mercenary; fighting for justice; a great mother, but father was a wealthy man with whom his mother carried on a life long affair; he did inherit his father’s business/wealth as he didn’t have any other children; though he has the heart, he does not have the words of love; he fell in love and lust with Kathy 5 years earlier (when on a job), and married her within a week; 3 years earlier, he returned for a 3-month long mission, and she was gone – without a note, or anything; he traced her, but did not go to her; neither had filed for divorce;

Kathy Lewis: Daughter of a diplomat; in diplomatic service; friends with the prince of Asterland; beautiful, elegant; did not have the words to tell her husband how much she worried for him when he was gone on a mission; and when she found out she was pregnant, and then miscarried the baby, and had no way of contacting Dakota, (really?), she leaves him without any contact

Albert Payune: Grand Minister of Asterland; mastermind of a revolution; for a short time had the Cattleman’s jewels – though they were retrieved; but now causing trouble for Kathy’s friends;

Summary:
Kathy contacts the cattleman’s club to ask for their assistance in protecting the royal family from revolution, and convicting Albert; the plan - she and her husband would pretend a reconciliation, and ask to go to Asterland for a place to work things out – a guest house on the royal lands – and Dakota would contact Albert with offers of assistance, until he could get the goods on him.

And their plan succeeds – and Dakota and Kathy make slow avenues truly reunite – she cannot tell him the truth of her pain – her worry for him, the loss of their child, her anger at being second to his job; they touch, they make love, they go back to their own rooms, they return to Texas – and he invites her to stay in their home while she looks for another (she quit her job, and is setting up shop for her father’s company in Texas) – and they continue to ebb and flow together… he tells her of another possible mission – and they finally get to the crux of the problem – and he asks for time to reconcile their needs – for him to decide if he could give up his missions… and his mother encourages him to become a weekend big brother to two Comanche children whose father is out the picture and whose mother is in drug rehab, and who are staying with a loving foster family – but would benefit from connecting with their heritage… and he and Kathy spend a wonderful day with the two – and then they spend time with one of the cattlemen who have a toddler – and he sees there is more to life than his missions… and just as she realizes that she cannot ask him to not be himself, to be the man she fell in love with, he realizes he doesn’t need to be on the forefront of missions… ahhhh

Really liked the story and characters and the way author brings about the pain,hurt,anger,love all emotions were brought out really well

Basic plot is Dakota-Kathy have been married for 5 years out of which they are seperated from past 3 years,Dakota is a soldier which is really important for him above everything else and Kathy is a agent but she yearns for family-children ,Kathy walked out on Dakota after 2 years of marriage when she lost the baby she was carrying and Dakota was away,he never even knew that he was going to be a father,Kathy waited but when she lost the baby she was really shattered and broken ann walks out cause she really can't take it now,Kathy thinks Dakota might come for her and realise she and their marriage is more important to him then his job but Dakota does'nt knows the reason for Kathy walking out when he returns he finds empty house and his pride stops him from going to her

They meet after 3 years on a mission where in they are to act as a couple who have recently reconciled,this is their second chance and Kathy tells him about the lost baby and how they try to save their marraige is rest of the story

Though Dakota-Kathy loved eachother every much and still had deep feelings for each other but the issues that were in between them makes us realise love is not enough,only loving does'nt makes relationship work both persons have to be there for eachother for good and bad times

what i really liked was both Dakota-Kathy never were unfaithful to eachother,they respected their vows and abided by it even when they were seperated,infact there's this one cute scene where in Dakota had danced with a lady he informs this to Kathy,they both wanted to save their marriage and worked for it

Good read
Recommend it

Dakota Lewis is waiting for his wife to come home...it's been 3 years since she left the house and walked out on their marriage. No reason given, she just quit. Kathy is nervous about being back on the ranch, a place she loves with the man she loves. But this return trip has nothing to do with the two of them and everything to do with the mission. Can they rewind time and convince everyone that they are just as in love today as they were before. The mission depends on their ability to do so. It shouldn't be hard since he still loves Kathy and wants her home where she belongs. He had as long as the mission would take to convince her she made a mistake and where she really wants to be is next to Dakota.

I like this authors writing and her heroes. I did not like the female H in this book - she was unconvincing in her reasoning for wanting a divorce. She would tell herself she still loved him but that is why she needs to leave him.

So I read this out of order. But it was a reunion. Dakota is the warrior of the title, half Commanche and married to red-headed Kathy for five years. But they've been living apart for three of those years after a miscarriage while Dakota was away on a mission.

In all those three years, she didn't tell him why she left. Hoping that he would decide she was more important than his work.

Dakota carried on with his work, not knowing why. Until they had to work together on a mission.

This was a story about two people who loved each other but failed abysmally to communicate. The heroine in particular annoyed me because she simply walked away from her marriage. Granted she was probably depressed, but three years and even then it took her weeks to get around to telling him.

Otherwise it was a good read with a satisfactory ending.

I read this book from the end of the series without reading the others. It was a good book that u could read on its own and not in a series. I did find myself getting bored with the constant I live u but can't be with u attitude of Kathy and Dakota up n down about what he wanted from Kathy and life in general. Ok HEA. really like the mentor programme in book where kids that don't have parents are mentor by a person with their close ancestry, like Dakota being Comanche.
