Dakota and Annie. Annie has loved Dakota for years, but although he was attracted to her, she was too young. I was a little disappointed that he didn't feel more deeply for her in the past, but I was nicely convinced of his love for her by the end of the book, although there never were any declarations by either of them. Annie ends up with the custody of her best friend's 3 boys after Jill dies with her husband. But the grandfather won't grant her adoption rights unless she marries a full Cherokee husband. Well there's only one man she knows who fits that description and the grandfather darned well knows that! So she proposes a marriage of convenience to Dakota. Dakota agrees because their Jill was like a sister to him, and he has always been attracted to Annie. But Annie refuses to consummate the marriage, because she will only give herself for love and she has given up on her crush for him. She's a virgin who designs and runs a lingerie shop. Dakota is an ex Rodeo star who also designs silver jewelry. The story is like a harlequin but with more depth to the characters. They have a rocky history but after a while the story moves past that and on to them forging a relationship together. OW stuff
