Man, this was the day for disappointing angst!
Talia loved Aaron, but after several years knew that he would never marry her no matter how much she showed her love. So she broke off with him and he immediately married the woman he figured his dead father would have approved of. A woman with his Cherokee heritage... whom he didn't love. (I can' t help wondering why they named him 'Aaron', if Cherokee heritage was so important???)
Anyways,
Of course their marriage ends in divorce, but after they have a kid. (strike one in my romance book)
Does he run back to Talia right away... NO0000... he's too much of a coward for that.
He twists some events to his favour to force her to pretend to be his wife for the FBI.
Anyways, he keeps pushing without putting himself on a limb by admitting his feelings at all. She will make an effort to learn his culture, something he's never asked of her before because it didn't matter as he had never intended to marry her anyways.
Does he offer to make an effort to learn her culture??? Nooooooo...
Ugh
His mother is a coward (guess that's where he gets it from) and his aunt is an unholy bully.
Talia has so much to look forward in this marriage (snark). Especially as he can't even admit to his feelings for her.

This book was just so very very disappointing romantically. Getting him to stand by her back with his family was like twisting his arm. And she was like the bionic doormat. When he's finally willing to cut off his assh*le family to be by her side SHE wants him to make an effort one more time???

roll my eyes!
She doesn't come across as your stereotypical doormat, because she doesn't fall right back into his arms. But she make no effort to truly move on, instead wallowing in it all like some kind of masochist.

His family made ABSOLUTELY NO EFFORT to support his love for her, while actively fighting against it AND had the gall to blame her for the demise of his first stupid marriage.

Safety is not good... obviously

Racist H dumped the h for being white, or she dumped him because he wouldn’t t marry her for being white..
He promptly Married ow because she’s his color, and had child with her.
h remained celibate, while working with him and seeing him with ow.
Hell no thanks.

The rating is not a reflection on the writing but the story.

I read this book a few months back and decided to reread to see if it improved on second reading. It didn't. Infact I downrated it from 2 stars to 1.

My favourite trope is that of the rejected heroine whom the hero tries to win again, especially if he's been married in between. Oooh the angst of it is just deliciously appealing....i know i know..I shouldn't be able to taste the angst but I tell you I can.

Anyway look away now if you don't want spoilers. Actually don't worry I'll hide em.

You know why I gave this book one star? Because I could NOT figure out, for the life of me, what the HEL7 was going on most of the time!

What? Huh?

Okay...you dump him because he won't share his heritage NOR his name with you. He marries someone else very quickly after, and HE is the injured party?

Oh, I see. So...he was going to what?? Eventually, he WAS going to kick her to the curb by his own admission of the deathbed promise he made to his father. Yet, he faults her for standing up for herself and demanding a real commitment?

Oh, I see. He's a self-absorbed, jerkwad who wants his cake (marriage to appease the family unit) and to eat it to (the heroine).

LOL So funny. So unintentional. LOL

What gets me is that she stays around watching him get married, have a son then eventually divorce.

Masochist. Party of one?

TSTL the lot of them!

Why I read this I have no idea!!! It was boring and pretty lame. I didn't like the writing style or the storyline. They were together previously for five years and she loved him and wanted to marry him but he wouldn't because she wasn't a Native American and he promised his Father he would only marry a Native American. She gave him an ultimatum and he went and married another woman and had a child. Just gross. They eventually divorced and now he is chasing her again. They do marry but it was just weird. I hated it The whole premise just sucked. I cannot recommend this book.

Read this quite a while ago. The hero wouldn't marry the heroine no matter what she said or did. So rather than being a mistress to the hero she leaves. Only for the hero to pick someone from his cherokee culture and marry her. After the hero's marriage doesn't work out, he comes back after the heroine. Only thing is the heroine is aware of the facts and she's not too sure she ever wants to risk her heart again!

Racist. The hero is American native and discards the heroine because she’s white. If the opposite happened this book would have never been written. Then, years later he divorces his wife that he never loved and basically forces the heroine to be with him. And she accepts. She stayed friends and she also knew is wife since she worked with the hero. Who cares if now he wants to be with her. The book is emotionally lacking. And inconsistent. Maybe the heroine didn’t really care about the hero since she stayed near him and his new family. Meh. Never again.

Marriage Of Revenge

This book, to me, was full of cliches. She 2as hurt when he stated he wouldn't marry her because was white and not like him. So she broke up with him. He turned around and married another woman who his mother approved. But after his son was born they divorced. Now she wants revenge. Marriage but no love. And she will not confirm to his culture. Not much too the story. Very cold in the telling. I didn't feel their angst at all.

Marriage Of Revenge by Sheri Whitefeather is a fairly short read, a great choice for those with limited time for reading. Ms Whitefeather has given us a well-written book. The characters are awesome. There's plenty of drama, humor and spice to hold the reader's attention. I enjoyed Marriage Of Revenge and look forward to reading more from this author. Marriage Of Revenge is book 2 of the Trueno Brides Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.

I read a print copy of this book.
