We love all of humanity. Mysterious chat room messages, all posted under the name "Saika," profess love for humanity - and for one man in particular. Saika's target: Shizuo Heiwajima!! Over fifty people have been struck in the worst case of serial slashings in the history of Ikebukuro. But the slasher's victims have tasted not only the blade, but also the vision of their attacker. A vision of love, love, love that can only be realized when their own blades have pierced the bodies of their beloveds. Shizuo braces himself for a battle to the death in the shocking climax of the Saika Arc!!
Empat bintang karena entah kenapa saya suka dengan arc Saika ini. Konsep cinta Saika tetap absurd buat saya tapi elemen-elemen lain dari arc ini kena banget di saya. It was Shinra-Celty romance yang terasa sweet instead of creepy seperti di season yang pertama. It was Shizuo's backstory that made me want to hug him. It was Celty awesomeness yang belum ada lawan nya deh... It was "kemesraan" Shizuo-Izaya dongggg.... ♥,,♥ Dan tentu saja endingnya!
Yang jelas arc Saika ini justru membantu saya untuk memahami DRRR!! universe lebih baik. Ok Elex , cepatlah terbitkan arc selanjutnya!
The end of this arc had quite the sweet sentiment! The people in our lives making up who we are is a form of love- and while I don't necessarily fully agree with that statement (more so our experiences and bonds with people make us who we are, and that love is something that contributes to that)- the sentiment is the same. This arc ended quite nicely with it tying up lose ends (and of course everything being initiated by Izaya- despite some coincidences working out in his favor). The focus on Anri was quite nice since she is not a character that expresses herself all that outwardly- and specifically her feelings on love and identity- while not identifying as such, Anri really seems to be aroace which she seems to struggle with since it's considered "abnormal" (or more like it's just not something she even considered since societally it's expected that you fall in love at some point). Both Anri and Shizuo (from the Saika experience) seemed to have more clarity on who they are as people and have accepted who they are (and are taking more comfort in that than they did before).
The twists and turns of this series are something else, the way the story develops is rather dark and intriguing and It makes me want to read more and more!
Fabulous final installment of this arc. The mystery of Saika comes to a head as the various threads of the plot wind together in a fairly neat way, while leaving many of the overarching stories going.
The characters in this series continue to grow on me every book, to the point where I'm a little bothered when they have to leave some of them out of an issue.
Sorry I don't have a lot to say here, but I don't want to talk about the plot too much, because almost everything about this is a spoiler. The vast majority of the book is essentially one big climax. And I'm okay with that. :)
The only reason I ended up reading this series is because, at one point in the past, I absolutely loved the anime. Not so much anymore since I kind of watched it so many times, it eventually just seemed pretty meh to me. Kind of like how I’ve always felt for this series as a manga; it’s just meh.
The final volume of the Saika arc, and it's so well done! I wasn't really crazy about this storyline at first, but this last volume definitely won me over. Totally looking forward to the yellow scarves arc coming up next!
Eh, ending was ok. Book 1 and 2 of Saika arc are better. This felt a bit rushed to make sure it ends at the end of volume 3. Wasn't bad though. Definately read it if you're a Durarara fan for sure.
