Thanks to Loose Id and her writing, she can be a recovering attorney and now spends her time writing, editing, raising adolescents, taking care of an elderly mother and dealing with a hyperactive husband (who says he's just very energetic). She is also co-owner and Editor-in-Chief of the e-publishing company Loose Id.

She and her husband both like writing in whatever time they have left, so they often fight over—sorry, since he is still a practicing attorney they NEGOTIATE—keyboard time. No wonder Treva’s particular brand of sensual romance is a bit offbeat and usually mixed with fantasy.

It always disappoints me that when authors create a fictional world in which women are in charge, somehow they always revert to wanting men back on top. So boring.

The Wildling has got to be one of the oddest books I have read in a while. It’s definitely a sci-fi romance as it is set on Prosperity, hundreds of years after the destruction of Earth. It’s got a good bit of erotica as men are slaves on Prosperity and the wildlings that Arness captures and tames are traded primarily as breeders – and as we get to see the “taming” and “breeding” scenes, there’s plenty of sex to go around. And there were definitely moments during which I felt like I was in the middle of a soap opera. The most notable one was towards the end when Salla confronts Primary – and I have to say that Arness wasn’t the only one who felt she needed a dictionary – and then Adan confronting Arness. I was laughing almost hysterically at everyone’s antics while reading that scene. Add to that the impression of being set in the Wild West with characters who have an Old English feel to their speech and mannerisms … yeah, that really shouldn’t work. Yet Ms. Harte has managed to combine all of these elements with some extremely interesting characters to create a wildly entertaining read – at least for me it was.

While I definitely enjoyed reading The Wildling, it is most certainly a niche read. For those readers that enjoy sci-fi romances with a side of weird, I suspect they will find the book refreshing. However, I fear that those who don’t will think that those of us who enjoyed it have lost their mind and won’t be kind in their assessment of the book. I truly believe that this is one of those books the people are either going to love or hate – I don’t foresee much middle ground. I for one am glad I got the opportunity to read The Wildling and am looking forward to more oh Ms. Harte’s writing.

Arness is good at her job, and loves doing it too! She captures and tames Wildings, making them love being in captivity. She doesn’t understand that not all wildlings want to be caught! When a friend asks for her help with a capture who doesn’t appear to bending to the will, Arness steps in. She sees something unusual in Adan, but before she has chance to work more closely with him, she takes another capture to a different buyer. She falls foul of trouble and a big rescue attempt is undertaken.

There’s a lot to this story. Lots of sex (obviously – it’s erotica) but also love, romance, torture, the old Wild West that feels like it shouldn’t fit in with the Sci-Fi theme but somehow does, in love with the wrong person, you name it.

I loved the difference in characters and the fact that we have not one, not two, but three couples in this story that are all searching for love, four if you count Secondary. The world-building was clear and, although I didn’t quite get on with Mardeath, he and his gang did help move the story along.

This was a quick, hot read that I thoroughly enjoyed and have no hesitation in recommending.
