Excellent book. Joyce Meyer is such a humble lady and yet strong in her walk with Christ. The advice in this book is really good and so encouraging to all Moms. Those with babies, teens to college age children. Give it a chance if you are already a Christian, it gets more mature in the middle and end. Great book.
I love watching Joyce Meyer's sermons on youtube. She is so encouraging in God's word and this book is no exception. One of those books that you have to reread every page. I will carry many of her words of wisdom with me in the futurw.
As a mom, have you ever wondered if maybe you could have done a better job at raising your kids or looked at someone else and questioned maybe where you are going wrong in your own life? Why do we second guess our efforts when God clearly isn't done with our kids yet? Why do we look at what is going on in other's lives when we don't know what they have had to go through to get to where they are? So how do we move forward and gain a better understanding on how to be a more confident mom based on the abilities and talents God has uniquely given each of us and our kids?
Joyce Meyers has written a book called The Confident Mom to guide your family with God's strength and wisdom. I've always found that sometimes our best resources of truth can be discovered within the Bible, but just where to find it becomes the challenge. Joyce does an exceptional job at incorporating her humor as a mom in relating to us exactly where we have all found ourselves sometimes wondering just what the point is in all of this child rearing from a mom's perspective using the wisdom found in the Bible.
"We can all relate to those idyllic dreams we once had about our soon-to-be-born little bundles of joy. We also remember when the reality of the situation set in. Little bundles of joy grew into teething toddlers who cried and threw up on us every time we got dressed up to go out. They threw temper tantrums and tried to drink out of the dog bowl. Soon, instead of feeling sure of ourselves, we started wondering if we really have what it takes to do this right. We started seeing our short comings, focusing on our failures, and feeling inadequate.
I'm sure you know what I'm talking about. Every mom (no matter how awesomely competent she may appear to be) has lost her confidence at one time or another. But, thank God, there is a way to get your confidence back. It's actually possible for us as mothers, at any stage in our lives, to regain, not the false and fleeting kind of confidence but the real thing: the kind that keeps us looking forward with assurance even when things are going wrong - the kind that keeps us looking up instead of down, in spite of our mistakes. The kind that enables us to laugh at our imperfections and be positive about ourselves and what we can do instead of worrying about what we can't do." (excerpt page 7-8.)
Sound like something you'd want to know more about? Then trust me, when I say, you'll definitely want to pick up The Confident Mom by Joyce Meyers. There is something in this book for anyone even if we have kids who are grown and living outside of our homes. We all know that confidence in our abilities makes us stronger and able to gain insight to struggling moms everywhere who ask us how we seem to have it all together. We can sit back smile, and know we've all been there at one point in our lives and have arrived! "The difference between a good mom and a great mom is her supreme confidence in her supreme God!"
I received The Confident Mom by Joyce Meyers compliments of Faith Words, a division of Hachette Book Groups for my honest review. I did not receive any monetary compensation for a favorable review and the opinions expressed in this review are strictly my own unless otherwise noted. Joyce shows us not only how to rely on the advice God provides in His Word, but also how to make sure the children we raise remain confident in their own faith even though at times, some may fall away or stray, God will bring them back in His own timing and in His own way. We just have to have faith in the abilities we have instilled in them, God won't let them go too far! God doesn't expect us to be perfect, only trust in Him to help raise our children! I easily give this one a 5 out of 5 stars in my opinion.
This is a book that I would recommend to all moms. It is so relatable and encouraging, and I took away so many biblical truths and fresh perspectives on motherhood.
One thing that stood out to me was at the end of the book, where Joyce pointed out that Jesus not only washed feet but cooked a meal for his disciples - and that if He did those things it was because it mattered. So as moms, we should keep in mind that when we do those same things for our family, we are serving them and showing love to them just as Jesus did - and that’s important!
Very good book that helped to me realize you don't have to be perfect to still be an amazing mother. Joyce gives lots of tips on how to use God's Word to heal from past parenting mistakes and how to parent with the confidence of the Holy Spirt. This is my first time reading this book, but it's definitely the type of book that I could re-read several times and still feel I'm gaining valuable information.
Loved it! It was inspiring and motivational. Plus I felt it was a quick read which if helpful when you're a busy mom. I love Joyce because I identify a lot with how she describes her challenges and personality.
I have read a great deal on this topic and this book falls in the middle. It's not bad, it's just not as great as others. Deeper reflection questions, passages broken up and spread out, and a larger format with varied color and text would be more appealing based on others out there
I really recommend this book to every woman is very straightforward and encouraging with great revelations. It doesn’t matter if you're a mom or not, because the advice in this book is incredible! This book is now one of my favorites.
Parenting is the most rewarding and difficult job there is, and this book is an encouraging guide to inspire parents to approach every day of the parenting journey with joy and unshakable confidence. I will return to the wisdom in this book again and again.
Such a great read! It's probably my new favorite Joyce Meyer read! It gave me such great confidence and encouragement for my every day living. Definitely recommend especially for moms who need some extra encouragement!
Lots of thought-provoking and motivating bits. And gave me a feel for some changes I’d like to make for myself. Loved reading the real life experiences of others also.
This was a very interesting read. It had key points that I could relate too. I love the reference to the everyday issues to the bible. I took a lot of notes and will probably reread just until I get all the teachings down. Perfect for all mothers to read!
One of the best books I have ever read! With a 5 year old and another on the way, this book is really what I needed. Whether you’re a Christian or not I totally recommend this book ❤️
A not awesome book by Joyce Meyers. I struggled with whether or not I was good mom. A lot of the things in this book I learned on my own. Still a great read.
Jesus himself notices and appreciates everything you do for your family
When you really don't know why you do it, day in day out for no thanks no appraisal is there anything more affirming than this? My "to read list" has been piling up on my desk, my kindle and on the net but this had been sitting on my churches side for a week and against all sensibility telling me that I had to much to read already to much I've been dying to get stuck into I took it home and thought maybe I can squeeze it in. Thank God I did... I'm no born again Christian let alone a fully fledged Christian, I am a mother of 6 years to two children who loves to read and a member of my local community church, and that's what led me to this book, what led this book to me can only be described as.................... With chapters headed: perfect woman need not apply and can somebody please help me you can see from the start this book can offer some laughs along the way. In regards to faith I've been surrounded by it since I was young but I'm only now beginning to open up to it and part of that is for my children and vi come to realize
if we want to pour out Gods love into the lives of our children we must first receive It ourselves
This book is everything and nothing I imagined. It's heavy on the faith and references to Jesus but that's not so bad I promise, but is also heavy on the truth and fears we have as mothers and it's heavy on the love, the support and acceptance. Practically a self help guide but not just for mothers for women on a journey with faith. For all my friends and mothers I may offer you advice on parenting, on life, on relationships and possibly faith but the best piece of advice i can give is to arm yourself with this book, pray with the book, teach your children with this book and most importantly love yourself, your children and your faith with this book. The golden nugget in this book for me was the idea of instead waking up spending time in our mirror fixing our hair and makeup to prepare ourselves for the day instead we Should be
getting spiritually dressed
Now isn't that a refreshing idea, that's something I want my daughter to invest in. I mentioned I borrowed this book but I will be purchasing it for my book shelf in the hope to pass on to my daughter and will preach it's value and word to anyone I meet Thank you Joyce Meyer Mam-northern slang for mom, mum, mother
Being a mom is the most rewarding and challenging “job” I’ve ever had. From the depths of despair to the height of a joy greater than I thought possible; the roller coaster of motherhood is a daily challenge in which I strive to be the best that I can. The Confident Mom by Joyce Meyer was such an encouragement and blessing to read that I absolutely could not put it down!
This is one of those books that you find so relatable you just soak it up and want more! It was almost too short for me because I found her words so inspiring and wisdom filled that I could’t get enough.
As a mother who has faced and overcome many challenges, Joyce Meyer’s truly gets it and can reach mothers on a level only another mother could. One thing that really stood out to me and I took away from this book is that it’s never too late! Sometimes I think I’ve already screwed up my kids and there’s no going back from it. While there is no going back, she reminded me that there is moving forward and doing better from here on out.
Meyer’s found herself in the position where she thought that it was too late to be a good mom but she fought her way through her obstacles in life and made being a grew motherhood a priority through following the Word of God and living it out. And her kids turned out great so that gave me hope and encouragement to keep going, do better and be the best mom that I can every day.
It’s important to remember that we all make mistakes and screw up but you pick yourself up and go forward. Children are such a huge blessing and have been entrusted to us from God to raise according to his Word. If we don’t stay in the Word, that isn’t possible.
The Confident Mom was such an inspiring read that I really needed at a time that my older two kids are dealing with the life changes that come with a newborn in the house and so am I! Every mom should read this book to be reminded of what a gift Motherhood is and that we can all walk the path successfully by following God’s word.
I decided to read this one because I always need more godly help being a good mom, and I have read and watched other stuff by Joyce, and I love her passion for God, and easy to understand voice. I was pleased with the book, and glad that she used plenty of personal examples as well as scripture to back up what she was saying. I took away from this one that I needed to trust in God and not on my own strength, but know that if I ask for help or wisdom, that God is right there and he wants to give it to me. I have to trust that he will do that in his ways and time though because I have my own ideas about how He should work, but they are never as perfect as what he has in mind. She gave some general but also some practical advice, but reminds me that every child and situation is different and no matter how much I want for them to come with operating manuals, they don't. That I really have to be in the word and in prayer and then God can speak to the situation.
Bottom Line: Uplifting and pointed me to God as a mom.
The Confident Mom by Joyce Meyer, is packed with great advice and wisdom. Joyce speaks in a very practical, relatable style that moms can identify with.
One of the best parts of the book in my opinion, was when she encourages moms to make sure they are taking time with God. "You can't give away what you don't have", is something she drives home in this particular chapter. She talks about the dangers of wearing ourselves out and spreading our time too thin.
Joyce teaches moms that investing in yourself physically, emotionally and spiritually, results in huge payoffs for your family. Joyce also shares humorous personal examples in this book, that any mom can relate to. She addresses the dangers of comparing ourselves to others and trying to work in areas, we're not meant or called to.
Overall, a great book to remind moms of their calling and purpose.
It took me a while to finish this book but it had nothing to do with material. I used this as a daily devotional and wanted everything to really really sink in. I think I honestly took more out of it that way for me personally, but honestly I was sad to get to the end. The message Joyce Meyer shared with me has been so helpful in so many ways. I never want to stop learning, especially being a mother. Although there are changes I need to make, she also shares with us that God is there to help us along the way and at the end of the day even our children make their own choices. I loved it and can't wait to dive into more Joyce Meyer books as this one uplifted me tremendously.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for allowing me to review this ARC book for my honest opinion.
Another great book by Joyce Meyer! I absolutely enjoyed reading it and got a lot of encouragement from Joyce's words for all of us moms who were (or still are) in need of it.
As with all other books I've read from Joyce before, the pages have a nice layout that is not overwhelming to the eyes OR to read. There's a nice balance of her commentary AND scripture throughout its pages.
Of course one can always enjoy when an author speaks about their personal experiences and troubles along with words of encouragement and wisdom.
I would recommend THE CONFIDENT MOM to any new (and not so new) moms out there.
I didn't think I really liked Joyce Meyer, nor this genre of book. But I really enjoyed it. So encouraging and such a good reminder to remember and rely in strength from God in every moment as a parent.
Really enjoyed reading this book. The encouragement and sound advice is something I needed, as a mother. I will hold onto this book to read throughout this journey of motherhood. High recommend for all mothers, no matter the age of goth children.
This book had excellent advice that really made me think about my role as a mother and how I will face any challenges ahead. It was very inspirational and positive! I am not a very religious person but really feel this book would speak to any mother who needs a little lift!
