I traveled from the Middle East to USA to Ireland to Middle East and so on. Alternate Connection held something deeper than the adventure; it was about having the ULTIMATE connection either with yourself, your team, your lover, or even your family. It was much more than the mission to save hostages and finding the mole and traitor, it was coming to terms with a past that you have no control over changing and enjoying and grasping the future that you yearn for and deserve. It is about letting go and accepting who you are and what you have become. Being loyal to the ones in which you think deserve it and understanding that you are not a one man Army but part of a unit that will support and be by your side no matter what.

I can give spoilers and say many more things but in the end I would just say, the connection runs deeper than the eye can see.

Where do I begin? There is so much to tell you about Alternate Connection by Chris Almeida and Cecilia Aubrey. In this third installment of the Countermeasure Series, we get to learn what makes CIA Agent Nathan Nelson tick and why he was such a jerk in the first two books. I was actually surprised he would get a story because he was quite the PITA to the main characters of the series, Trevor and Cassandra. Nate is quite the complex character, though, and it was awesome to learn more about him.

The mystery surrounding the plot of this story is unbelievable. This one is quite detailed and I found myself hanging on each word to make sure I didn’t miss anything. Alternate Connection is one of those books that you can read several times and pick up something new each time you read through it. The authors did a fabulous job with their research. The action scenes in the book are why I read romantic suspense. I enjoy a good mystery, but it is the edge of your seat action that has me coming back for more. I enjoy the adrenaline rush of those scenes. Almeida and Aubrey do a great job of describing the scenes as if the reader is there with the characters and feeling the same tension.

Now let’s talk about all the love going on in Alternate Connection, which is personally my favorite part. The authors continue to develop Trevor and Cassandra from the first two novels and boy did they put these two through the ringer in this one. It was actually welcoming after reading all the sexy Bits and Bytes of Life starring these two where you think their marriage is all bliss. The conflict in this one showed their vulnerable side and was the source of the tears I shed while reading.

Nathan and Rachael’s love story was so unexpected. I had some preconceived ideas about them from teasers, the blurb, etc, but the way it turned out was much better than what I imagined. There are so many layers to Nathan and to see him peel all those away for Rachael was phenomenal. He is wound tight for so long and to see Rachael give him the freedom to let it all go just by being herself was simply amazing. Their chemistry was palpable even when they tried to hide it so well. I only wish we could have read more about these two after they reunited and were out of harm’s way. The ending felt a little abrupt, but other things had to happen in the story so it worked out.

As for other characters in Alternate Connection, I enjoyed meeting the AWE Crew and reading more about Jessica and Stephan who we met in previous novels). This story is a mystery but so much of it involves relationships. We watch new friends being made, enemies learn to tolerate each other, families adding new members, friendships growing stronger and so much more. Almeida and Aubrey know how to create multidimensional characters.

I only hit on the highlights for me from Alternate Connection in this review. As you read other reviews I am sure you will get a good overall feeling of the depth of the book. If you have read the Countermeasure Series you must continue on with Alternate Connection. If you are new to the series, I highly recommend you start at the beginning so it all makes sense. You will be so glad you jumped into the Countermeasure world.

This book was IMPOSSIBLE to put down! I started this incredible journey with Countermeasure, then To Russia With Love. I was so excited to receive an ARC copy of Alternate Connection to review.

We first met Nathan in Countermeasure, and yeah, I disliked him BUT knew he had a helluva backstory. Almeida and Aubry do not disappoint in this one. Each time they release a new book, it ups the ante for the next one.

I am not one to do a play by play and spoil it for others. I do however note what I liked and disliked about the book.

Likes:
Excellent characters that feel so real that they jump off the page and become your friends. I found myself holding my breath, crying, yelling, getting turned on, being frustrated, bouncing in happiness. Truly a gift that the writers can bring forth that kind of emotion.

Suspenseful enough to keep me up until 2 am. My heart pounded as I anxiously read. I just had to know what happened next! The knowledge of the Middle East politics astounded me. The complexities they wove in and out of the story makes it much richer.

Realistic portrayal of military. They totally nailed it. It has been my experience that most authors cannot portray our soldiers correctly. These two authors did the research and it shows.

The technical aspects of the book are as always with this series not dummied down too low, but low enough that there is no trouble understanding it.

George Miller... What can I say, with each book, I want to get to know him on a much more intimate scale. Just label me as one of George's Geeky Girls. *sigh*

Dislikes: Other than the obvious reaction for the end -which, by the way, I totally would have written just like they did- there is not one thing that I disliked about this book. I would, and will, reread this one time and time again. (another reason to read ebooks for me, the pages don't get dog eared, the cover remains pristine!

Alternate Connection: A Countermeasure Series Novel

I was fortunate enough to receive an ARC of this story. This is a story is one that I’ve been waiting for, for a long time. I had issues with Nathan from the get go, not understanding there was something deeper to him. He seemed overbearing, egotistic, and misogynistic. I also did not trust in his skills, a gun not working correctly due to negligence, a female agent besting him in hand to hand. The way he misjudged Trevor and his overall treatment of Cassie…all of it! Fans of this series were promised that he was under much duress; there were reasons for his repugnant behavior. Well the authors delivered.
This is a couple that has been in love since day one, unable to acknowledge it; bound to each other through one man, Philip. Nate’s best friend and mentor, also Rachael’s husband. Philip has died while on assignment. Murdered. Nathan feels the guilt weighing down heavily on his shoulders having failed to be there for him. Rachael feels not only guilt but a great loss in her life, has decided to find the murderer. Like most females who take this route, she finds herself in the middle of a deadly situation. While, Nate will stop at nothing to rescue her from sharing Philips fate.
While reading this I was dumbstruck by the amount of research the authors have done. They took us on a trip to the Middle East where language, customs, hierarchy and laid the treacherous roads of their life before us. I felt immersed in the culture without leaving the comfort of my home. The story of Nate & Rae is sweet; we travel back in time finding out how they fell for each other as well as the series of events that led to Nate’s behavior in the first 2 stories as well as the Bytes of life. Nate’s heart has never belonged to anyone but Rachael. Nate is unexpectedly old fashioned having a strict rulebook. He’s overbearing because of a need to be all he can be, not at all egotistic or misogynistic, he’s completely likeable. I’ve changed my mind about Nate and you will too. Oh and please don’t riot at the end there is a book four currently in the works. If you want to follow Chris & Cecilia, they are available on Facebook via their discussion group or The Street Geeks Hub. Join their brand of madness, its well worth the cure!

One of the most difficult reviews to write is one for a book that you loved, that moved you to tears (forget tears – full on sobs with hyperventilation and flails) for emotions stay hot, and it is hard to step back and be objective and informative without spoilers. The combination of action, emotional climax points, heartbreaking decisions and some hard won redemption for a character many thought lost just culminated in a 3 am crying jag of epic proportions. I’m still recovering as I struggle to form coherent sentences.

The premise in this story is the extraction of 6 hostages from an attack on a convoy leaving the embassy compound in Israel. Nathan, a former colleague of Cassie’s and huge thorn in the paw of Trevor, is tasked to lead the teams with help from some deep undercover, super-charged military operatives. These guys make SEAL’s and Rangers look like kids playing at cowboys and Indians. Even worse, there’s a traitor on the American side, and only one of the hostages has an idea that the ‘kidnapping’ was staged. And, add insult to Nathan’s injured feelings – Trevor and his fellow geeky bloodhound George, have the ability to put eyes on the compound, trace digital imprints and hopefully find the mastermind before it is too late.

We have the tension and action from the search and chase, the conflict between Trevor and Nathan, the guilt at Trevor’s leaving Cassie behind in Dublin, Nathan’s stubborn habit of refusing to think outside the box if it conflicts with “policy and procedure”, a Hawaiian-shirt wearing, tattooed smart aleck in Hanson, team leader of the military guys, Jessica about to pop with her and Stephen’s first child and guilt. OMG the guilt. Everyone is guilty about something here – all emotional, all based in their feelings of failure and letting someone down. The only one NOT guilty is George, back in the States working away at the NSA, and tossing nuggets of information at Trevor, managing satellite tracking while fending off teasing and pushes from Cassie, who consistently re-nicknames him (G-String being my personal favorite).

Most telling in this story is Nathan. I’ve maintained that he needed a hug – or several – to make up for some horrible events in his past. Until this story, he had buried those issues, although he was acting out in often uncontrolled ways. Full of regret, guilt and what-ifs, Nathan’s opportunity for redemption is right at his fingertips, if he is ready to grab an opportunity at honesty and learn to forgive himself. For the first time we get to see what makes him tick, and I wanted to cry for him and all he had lost. But Almeida and Aubrey don’t take without giving, and he was given opportunities and a future with the one he always wanted. And a chance for a real friendship with Trevor, unlike the adversarial relationship that had alternated between repelling and drawing the two together.

But it’s not all about Nathan: Stephan is about to have his carefully orchestrated world turned on end, yet again, by the arrival of his and Jessica’s first child. These two are adorable together, his own worries about their age difference is wiped out with Jessica’s every utterance and adoration. She’s no doormat, she challenges his moments of moodiness and withdrawal from her with her own unique approach, and these two are magically delicious. Circling back to George, this guy needs a relationship and a woman, and perhaps there is something in the works on the “swipe left” tip, whether or not he knows it yet. George is the worrywart of the bunch, able to break complex issues into their myriad parts with the speed of a multi-gig processor, his ability to speak reason to Trevor when his more adventurous and risk-taking side take precedence, he’s a great friend and work partner for Trevor.

Lastly we dive into Cassie and Trevor. These two are magical together: not only is there a palpable electric attraction between them, but their friendship has grown and developed into a character that grows and breathes. You want to know these two, so solidly developed and presented that they fairly leap off the pages and sit at your desk, pushing you to read more, faster, again. The central characters that are the touchstone in each title, their relationship, while not perfect, epitomizes the support, respect and enjoyment that every couple should strive for.

Alternate Connection is more than just a suspense story, or a steamy romance, or even an action-packed ride worthy of a top ten list. Characters arrive as complete people, functioning to the best of their ability on their own, with issues both hidden and more obvious. While it does carry threads from earlier titles forward, like all good series reads, the release of a new installment will fuel your desire to re-read the earlier titles. Fortunately with the full length titles (now 3) and multiple smaller bits and bytes that focus on one couple or person for a short moment in time, there are hours of reading to escape with.

A secret connection from the past…

This is the third book in the Countermeasure series. It’s best to read this in series order for there are continued storylines and characters whose backgrounds and relationships have already been established appearing.

When we first met CIA operative Nathan (Nate) Nelson earlier in the series he was not well-liked, his presence was an intrusion into the developing relationship between Cassandra and Trevor but he was an intriguing character and this reader was glad that he got his own story. There’s so much more to this man than we ever realized. His history had been unknown for he kept his personal life as much a secret as his work life. The prologue gives us a glimpse into what forged this man. Recent events have forced him to evaluate his life, the shields guarding his emotions are coming down as he revisits the past and who he’s been, self-analyzation leads to epiphanies. Nate is a man with a deep code of honor that cost him dearly but fate has given him a chance to make amends and reconnect with the woman who has always held his heart, all other liaisons were an attempt to forget her.

Being a Foreign Service Specialist is a dangerous profession for a woman in the Middle East but for Rachael Moore it’s the means to redemption, to assuage herself of guilt that she’s lived with when she stayed committed to a course ten years ago that did not have her heart. When the diplomatic convoy that she’s a part of is attacked during an ordered evacuation she’s kidnapped by an Arab group along with six others. It’ll take all her skills to stay alive to finish what she started, she has vital information to relay to intelligence authorities. Isolated from the other prisoners her mind wanders to the past and we learn of her history with Nate and her husband. She never expected that Nate would be one of her rescuers. Can he forgive her for the last words she uttered to him after her husband’s death?

I loved this deeply emotional story for Nate and Rachael. In the past the time was not right for them for numerous reasons but now there’s no one just their own perceptions of the past keeping them apart. When their lives were in danger they reached for what they’ve always desired and their connection is volatile as they always knew it would be. Rachael with her history is the perfect complement for Nate. I do wish we had been given more to their story, they have so much to discuss about the past that this reader wanted to read about. Though this story is predominantly about Nate and Rachael we also see much of Trevor and Cassandra who are dealing with marriage issues. Trevor’s involvement in the mission to rescue the hostages without Cassandra has caused past insecurities to surface for both of them which they deal with admirably and with much raw emotion. As a couple they are still navigating the waters of being in a committed relationship and it was good to see them still growing.

The suspenseful storyline was filled with much intrigue and lots of strategic action. The complexities of the threads that you need to keep track of from book to book is amazing, there are many dangerous players and the details of the military missions was comprehensive, you could really picture what was happening. We were introduced to a new military crew which I hope to see more of.

The epilogue centered on Trevor and Cassandra which was surprising. I would’ve liked more regarding Nate and Rachael whose coming together just ended abruptly. The idea Trevor is seriously considering is appalling. At least the epilogue also gave this reader hope that what’s possibly discovered will rapidly alter his thinking. He’s come too far and cessation would come with deep regrets.

This reader may be in the minority but I disliked it when the story shifted to Jessica and Stephan, I never liked the woman or the pairing or being pulled away from the main story to learn about these characters.

CIA Agent,  Nathan Nelson is living a life full of regrets. Nate feels like he has let his family down and his best friend and former partner,  Cassandra Bauer down. One regret in particular comes to haunt him when he learns Rachael Moore, widow of his mentor has been kidnapped by terrorists. Nate has loved Rachael since they day they met but honor kept him from expressing that love. Rachael blames him for the death of her husband and sent Nate packing when he confessed what he didn't do for Phillip. Nate is now tasked with rescuing Rachael and the other high profile hostages. As luck would have it,  Nate is forced to work with his enemy NSA agent,  Trevor Bauer. Together the two of them fly to Jordan,  racing against the clock to stop the terrorists from killing the hostages. Can these two enemies work together for the greater good? Can Nate redeem himself in Rachael 's eyes?

I honestly wasn't that excited to read about Nate. The guy had been a class A jerk since the moment we met him. There's a reason why Trevor calls him The Hulk.

This book did change my mind about Nate. While he will never be my favorite character in the CM world, I at least have a better understanding of this character. My heart broke for him in parts of this book because Nate truly didn't think he deserved to be happy. Hopefully Rachael will bring him some happiness and peace into his life.

Continuing the tradition of strong female characters,  the authors introduce us to Rachael Moore. Rachael grew up in politics as the daughter of an Israeli Ambassador, which is how she met her husband and later on Nate. A woman of honor,  she married Phillip Moore even after realizing that what she felt for him was not romantic love. And least you think Rachael is nothing but a desk jockey caught in the wrong place, just remember Almeida and Aubrey are known for their surprises.

The research that went into this book is beyond amazing. With every well crafted sentence,  Aubrey and Almeida dazzle you with their knowledge. Whether they are writing about computers,  weaponry,  or politics in the Middle East,  this duo write a realistic portrait of a frightening scenerio that could happen.

The action sequences in this book are phenomenal. The chapters play out like a block buster summer thriller on the big screen. During one military operation I nearly started chanting USA!  because it was so kick butt.

Alternate Connection is the third book in the Countermeasure Series  (this is NOT a standalone read). From the first chapter to the last chapter,  this book grabs you and has you frantically reaching for the oh crap bar as you hang on for an heart pounding exciting ride. Full of action, suspense,  and romance,  this book is everything a romantic suspense reader would want in a book. If you haven't read any of the books in this series,  you need to do so now.

Trevor and Cassandra Bauer have experienced some ups and downs while searching for clues towards Trevor’s missing parents. Instead of experiencing a relaxing holiday season with friends, they have been called to assist the United States Government. Working to help rescue kidnapped Embassy workers, means reuniting with someone from their past. Enter, CIA Agent Nathan Nelson, a man who is not well-liked in the Bauer household. Nate has been battling his own demons this holiday season, and now he is forced to work with the Special Ops Team and the Bauers. Nathan will do anything he can to rescue the woman from his past and make amends. Rachael Moore was married to Nathan’s best friend. Now she is on a personal mission to learn more about his death. In the middle of an assignment in the Middle East, she and her co-workers are kidnapped. Will they get to her in time? And if they do, will she even want their help?

This is the third installment in the Countermeasure Series. The story’s emotional ebbs and flows can rival any ocean in the world. The authors clearly did amazing research into not only the history of the Middle East, but also the sentiments behind their traditions. Readers will be forced to travel to this area world and live with bated breath as they watch the events unfold. High action and high suspense, will keep readers guessing until the very end. Readers should start with the first novel in the series and work their way to this latest chapter. Alternate Connection is a heart-stopping tale that will leave readers anxiously waiting for the next book to be released.

I have the honor and pleasure of being one of a select few who were granted the privilege to read an Advance Reader's Copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. This book is due for release to the general public on 6 October 2015.

This novel could be considered a cross between Erotic Romantic Suspense and Military/Political Intrigue.

Let me start off by saying that even though this book can stand on its own, it will take on more meaning if you, the reader, have read the previous books in the Countermeasure series. It will help you to understand the underlying thread that holds all the stories together as well as more of the background of some of the main characters and their relationships to one another.

Short synopsis: Nathan Nelson has been holding back secrets from many people, no one person knows everything about him. He prefers it that way. He keeps an invisible stone wall around him. He reveals only what he wants others to see about him. Unfortunately life sometimes has a way of crumbling even the mightiest of fortresses. Besides Nathan's secrets there are several different events that throw twist, turns, and lots of curves in his path and that of his colleagues.

I love how the authors give little glimpses into Nathan's secrets. The reader doesn't get the full picture until close to the end of the story.

Warning: This book is for Mature Audiences due to moderately graphic sexual situations, somewhat graphic violence and occasional adult language. It is also full of emotion, so I suggest keeping something handy for when your eyes sweat or the tears roll (however you prefer to look at it).

Wot to say about this book without giving away spoilers...here goes.
As this is the third full novel in this series we've already met most of the cast of characters Altho we've only had hints as to Nathan's girl Rae. This book brings u up to date with Trevor and Cassie, Jessica and Stephan, Dmitry and Tatiana,( Altho just briefly).
Altho it's about Nathan's struggle with loving Rae and his past it also includes more of the struggle that Trevor and Cassie face over trying to find out wot happened to Trevors parents the Brennans. Whilst they are happy it shows their struggle in still overcoming past hurts and insecurities. Watching their story progress is heart warming and also painful.
The technological detail is incredible without being over the top. The military insight and strategy is brilliant.
We are also introduced to a new set of players..u will have to read to find out who tho. I see future books coming...
Nathan and Raes story is painful and emotional in a very good way. The way the authors deal with this is very real and believable. The emotions evoked in this book are very complex and make it so you can't put the book down.
I luv George Miller's character and hope he gets his own HEA.
As the plot progresses you can almost tell how it's going to unfold but just when you think you know the author's keep you guessing.
Guess we'll just have to wait for the next bk but I can't wait.
This is a brilliant series and I highly recommend it if Romantic Suspense is your thing. A real 5***** read.

Let me start by saying that I have read all of the countermeasure series books and am a huge fan. Alternate Connection is the best so far in my opinion. It was a long wait that was well worth it.

The story-line was solid and fast-paced yet there were plot twists that the authors always expertly incorporate into their books. It is set in the Middle East and I thought the authors did an excellent job of illustrating how women are viewed in this culture. The military scenes were riveting.

The characters are what always have me coming back. It was good to see Cassandra and Trevor again. I have to admit to not finding Nathan to be very likable in the first two books but after reading his story I have a different view of him. I also liked Rachael (I’m so glad they went with this spelling) a whole lot. She was smart and was always thinking. No damsel in distress waiting for rescue there.

Although the book can technically be read as a standalone, I recommend reading all three books in the series. The other two books made this one make so much more sense and really add so much to the overall reading experience. I am anxiously awaiting the final book in the series.

I received an ARC of this book from the authors in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Again, grabbing on and taking the ride the authors take you on from page one is no surprise...they're great at Romantic Suspense...and know exactly which buttons to push, character wise to keep you engaged. This is Nathan's story (and talk about heart throb/hero...Nate brings it here!), but Cassandra and Trevor are never left off the front burner...there is so much heart and emotion dedicated to both the characters and the story as a whole, that there are times when your heart just sighs...that's when you're not sitting on the edge of your seat gripped by the suspense that is. The ending is perfect to want for more, and boy do I ever! Now the wait begins for the next installment of the Countermeasure series.

This book was provided by the authors as an ARC for my honest review...the above is exactly that.

I really enjoyed this book. The connection between Nathan and Rachel
was there right from the beginning. Once I started this book I could
not put it down, and felt very blessed to have received an Arc of
this book to review.

If Nathan sounds familiar, then you guessed correctly that this is
the same Nathan that is in Countermeasure, and although he was not
my favorite, he has grown on me and I love that I really get to know
him and his story in Alternate Connection.

I won't give out any spoilers because that would just ruin the book
for you. I will say this.... You will cry, yell, jump up and down in
excitement and more than likely be turned out.

I love the way Christ and Cecilia write. They never disappoint and they
are an amazing writing team. This story just like the others is well thought
out, believable, intense and well researched.

Can not wait for the next one!

After reading Alternate Connection, many words come to mind...however, I feel my words do not give the authors enough credit due to them for such a magnificent read!

When a book can elicit so strong of an emotion that you are pulled into the story and can feel what a character is feeling...that's true brilliance of an author, or in this case authors! All the components in this story were so well tied together, many facets of each character were opened up and showed their true potential, to right any wrongs and let go of any faults & guilts....but this story was so much more, it kept giving to the very end and beyond!

Chris & Cecilia have surpassed my thoughts of what an author does for their readers!!!

I have been reading the Countermeasure Series since the first book and every Bit and Byte in between. When I finished this book, I literally had no words. Alternate Connection kept me on the edge of my seat, took me around the world, and moved me to tears! It gave me a better insight into Nathan Nelson's character and I don't dislike him as I once did. Without spoiling it for other readers, any other outcome for him in this book would have been unacceptable. Another job well done, Chris and Cecilia!!

Even though I also purchased this book, I received an ARC copy from the publisher via Substance B in return for an honest review. I was not compensated, and all opinions are my own.

Great Book!
This is a great book; this book is part of the Countermeasure series by Chris and Cecilia Almeida. Nathan Nelson is a CIA Operative who has built his life on secrets. Rachael Moore is a Foreign Service Specialist who has risked her life to free herself from her past. When Nathan and Rachael’s path crosses they will work together to shed some light on a puzzling mystery. If you are looking for a great mystery with suspense then you need to read this book. Friendship; attraction; passion; withdrawal; giving up; death; remorse.
All these feelings pass by Nate and Rachael's list in recent years.

Nate and Phillip were great friends. That kind of friendship in which Nate felt more at home next to Phil's family than with his own. So it would be natural Phil invite him to be his best man.
What Nate didn't expect it was the bride of his best friend was the woman he was interested for the first sight.
Mutual attraction. But there was in the middle of a signed commitment and a friendship that could not be shaken. But in fact this turned out to be shaken shortly afterwards.

When Phillip Moore was on a mission and asked for help to his friend, for the sake of ethics and honor, Nate denied it. The sad thing was soon later he received the news that Phillip had died.
The last meeting of Nate and Rachael was not easy. Hurt, she blamed his husband great friend of omission. Maybe with his help Phillip would still be alive... This question they both did for themselves.

Years passed and they lost contact.
Recently Nate thought he was in love with Cassandra, now married to Trevor Bauer, and was devastated when she chose to marry the Irish, leaving her work in her father's company and move to the country of her husband.

But regardless of his antagonistic feelings for Cassie's husband, he and she had been friends since the time she worked at CIA. And now he had a new mission and needed the help from the expertise couple.
A convoy of US citizens, coming out of the US Embassy in Tel Aviv, had fallen into a false blitz. Four were killed and six others taken hostage. Among them was Rachael; and after what happened to his best friend, Nate could not let Rachael also died in the hands of terrorists.

Trevor ends up being called to go along on the mission - which leaves Cassie deeply concerned and hurt, since as a former CIA agent she was much more prepared for operation in the field - and this causes a raid between the couple. But she could still be of help staying at their lab.

Enlisting the help of George and Jessica, Cassandra would never leave her husband alone in this situation.
The hostage location could not be more harsh. Worse, they were not dealing with amateurs terrorists. Among them there were a traitor, and all this made it more dangerous. Nothing worse than dealing with an enemy who knows your way to be.

Between trips in different continents, threats, and discoveries of traitors, Trevor still goes to search for any clues that lead him to his parents disappearance. But maybe, just maybe, it is already time for him to leave it behind and get on with his life.

Trevor had his wife; Nate would have to make amends with Rachael. Jessica was to have birth her kid, but the future can still bring surprises coming from the past ...

One more story well told by Almeida-Aubrey.
The mystery of climate reigns throughout the book, while scenes with terrorists are shown in detail.
Nate and Rachael are a couple who have dangerous jobs. He as a CIA agent and she as an assistant in an embassy in a country constantly involved in issues that lead to war.
The purpose of Rachael to go to work there had to do with her late husband. Been taken hostage was a bad luck, and she didn't expect to be rescued by the person she loved and at the same time, caused her so much pain.
Their reunion is hot. The old "I-want-you-but-I-don't-want".

Meanwhile, still has a lot of romance between Cassandra and Trevor.
No spoiler to how everything is resolved, but the end is to take breath away (the last scene!) What now, my love???.

Good pace.
Interesting characters, but I still prefer Jessica and Stephan as romantic couple. Sorry, Nate and Rae, no connection.
A lot of mystery. Keep your passport on hands because we will be traveling throughout a lot of places in this story.

4,5 stars

OMG!!! I LOVVVVVVVVVED THIS BOOK!!! I felt like I was right there! I felt the connection between Nathan and Rachel, the passion they shared..OMG you thought Cassie and Trevor had Passion???? OMG THEY EXPLODED in the book!!!!!! I wanted to jump in the book! The writing was AMAZING Chris and Cecilia really bring our favorite book characters to life! I cannnnnot wait to see what they do wit he Daniel nod his AWE Crew! There was a lot of humor in the book too like The Star Wars Theme door bell, Trevor calling Nathan the Hulk him turning green calling him Banner Cassie calling George GEORGIE OMG pretty funny stuff I was cracking up my friends thought I was nuts! Lol duh I am..

Now on to the kidnapping of Rachel. That was so real, I was like biting my nails the whole time hoping that Rachel didn't get shot or roughed up. Jordan is not a great place for women especially. I did however want to jump in the book and start hurting people though especially when the older woman was hit in the face. The whole time during the kidnapping when the two guards got shot and killed not so good, but we find out who was behind it...I won't tell....

As for Trevor's parents? We still don't know what happened to them but I am sure we will find out soon..I hope he did let go of them sort of..he moved on. He took Cassie to his childhood home and alllll the memories came flooding back, that was so sad to see.. I hope we find out soon, It was cool that Nathan offered to help too.

Baby News: Jessica had her baby! A boy!!! I forget his name lol Stephen is DELIGHTED!!! I am too...now it's the Bauer's turn (HINT HINT)...

The ARC was given to me from the authors in exchange of an honest review.

Before I say anything about the book let me tell you that this is the third book in the series Countermeasure. Alternate Connection is a true masterpiece. The authors have outdone themselves. This is truly remarkable. Though I read the book slowly I still had great time doing it.
The story gripped me from the very beginning and kept me on edge to the very end.
Nathan Nelson a CIA Agent is the one getting his HEA in this book. Though I didn’t like him in the previous two book here I finally understand him. With a hand on my heart I can say that now I’m in love with Nathan and I envy the woman that won his heart. What I love most about the series is that though every book has something new that is happening, the authors don’t stop developing their characters. For example Trevor and Cassandra met in the first book and their relationship continues to develop even now in the third books.
I think that this is one of the main reasons why Countermeasure Series stands out. When Trevor had to make hard decision I was amazing of the strength he has. Because his choice was a difficult one. Rachael Moore a strong woman is missing. She was once married to Nathan’s best friend but now that he is dead she wants to know why he died but ends up kidnaped with her colleagues.
With that said and all the action and mystery the authors managed to keep me on the edge of my bed. There were times I was afraid not to fall off when I jump up from some unexpected twist of the story.

So I know it’s a short review but this is how I feel about the book. I give it 5 stars. If I was able to give more I would do it.

Chris and Cecilia's books won me and go on a growing arrest me... it was really hard to leave Alternate Connection to work and do the things in life that prevent me to read and read and read...

In this third book we learn more about life and secrets that Nathan Nelson, the former partner of the Cassandra in CIA... while he goes on a mission to rescue a group of kidnapped American diplomats in Israel, among them Rachael Moore, the widow of a great friend of Nathan, for whom he was always passionate. An intense and overwhelming love, they can't lose even with to fear of the Arabs ... I loved the love scenes between Nathan and Rachael, but I want a Byte only on them, Chris and Cecilia (please!)

We not fail to follow the life and love of Cassandra and Trevor Bauer (Brennan), even though they are again in different places, working on the same mission... and taking risks in tense moments like in all the books in the series.

You can see the great work of research and assembly that Alternate Connection demanded as there are enough international intrigue and cultural and religious differences (Israel-Palestinian-US) and found myself curious to know more about Arab conflicts around the world.

I'm not going to tell you about what happens in the book. You have the blurb and other reviews for that. I will tell you that after not like Nathan Nelson after the first two books he has redeemed himself in Alternate Connection. Chris and Cecilia know how to get your heart racing, tear ducts flowing and hot and bothered. Their books have everything all rolled into one...action, suspense, romance, and hot steamy love scenes. I love that they get all your senses involved while reading their books. You get sucked into the book and don't want to put it down. Another great book by this winning team!

This is Nathan's story. While Nathan Nelson has been in both Countermeasures and To Russia With Love, he was a supporting character to Trevor and Cassandra. In Alternate Connection he becomes a lead character and we see the man behind all the layers he has hidden behind.

Nathan works for the CIA and at one time was partnered with Cassandra. What we didn't know is that there was more to his job than just being an agent. Who is he really? I have to admit that I did not like Nathan in the first two books. But the authors outdid themselves in making him a multifaceted character with a lot more depth and feeling than I thought possible.

Rachael Moore was married to Philip who was a close friend of Nathan's. Philip was killed and Rachael is determined to find out the details of what happened. She was working at the U.S. Embassy in Tel Aviv as a Foreign Service Specialist, trying to uncover details when they are forced to evacuate. The convoy she is in is ambushed on the way to the airport and they are taken hostage. Nathan is on the team sent in to rescue the hostages.

When Nathan and Rachael reconnect, the feelings they had for each other become harder to deny. Can Nathan and Rachael discover who was behind Philip's death? It becomes a race against time as they work to uncover the traitor without being killed themselves.

This book is the third in the series and can be read as a standalone. Although I recommend that you read the other two books first so you understand the dynamics going on between Nathan, Trevor, and Cassandra. I received an ARC copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Another exciting and steamy adventure from this dynamic writing duo, Alternate Connection starts out strong and the action so perfectly paced I couldn't put it down. Yes, another all-nighter. But well worth it. The characters are so deep with all the flaws and foibles of real people. The situations are thrilling nail-biters. The relationships have honest ups and downs. The writing is engrossing. This awesome book has earned my highest recommendations.

A great romantic, suspense filled read...a tense build-up to danger throughout that keeps you wanting more...characters are engaging and complex.
I would have liked to have seen more of Hanson and Khalil.
Foreshadowing, saw it coming, love it, hate it.
All together now: DUM DUM DUM, DUM DAH DUM, DUM DAH DUM, *up a key* DUM DUM DUM, DUM-DAH-DUM, DUM-DAH-DUM.
