Michael Bond

He was the creator of Paddington Bear and wrote about the adventures of a guinea pig named Olga da Polga, as well as the animated BBC TV series The Herbs. Bond also wrote culinary mystery stories for adults featuring Monsieur Pamplemousse and his faithful bloodhound, Pommes Frites.

Se mi guardo attorno, percepisco un panorama assai florido che supporrebbe rappresentare primariamente l’infanzia. Il punto è: ci riesce? Non lo credo. Alludo a Peter Pan, il piccolo principe, Pinocchio, terno tipico assodato da secoli. Eppure questi tre per bambini non sono affatto, narrano di una psicologia che non puoi elaborare da piccolo.
Nella vecchia Inghilterra però, Michael Bond in un dicembre del 1958 s’inventa un cucciolo d’orso che dal Perù emigra a Londra e riesce a farsi prima accogliere e poi amare dalla famiglia umana Brown. Ed ecco che Michael Bond qui presenta subito ai bambini della scuola primaria il concetto d’immigrazione. Azzardo eroico.
Dentro Paddington c’è un bambino di circa cinque anni, con tipiche goffaggini di quell’età, che si aggiungono al dover essere contemporaneamente un orsetto.
Orsetto dal carattere curioso, generosissimo in affetto e cortesia. Si arrabbia come un bambino di quell’età, anche.
Si tenta di far aumentare l'età dei piccoli lettori. Si passa perciò da piccole goffaggini domestiche di tutti i giorni, scuola con Jonathan e Judy Brown, a vari passatempi come la fotografia, diversi sport come pesca e cricket. Gare di ballo, passando per televisione, teatro, illusionismo, musica.
Disavventure varie con l'impossibile vicino il signor Curry, che però non riesci a odiare. Un paio di disavventure in polizia e fino alla psichiatria. E no, Michael Bond è riuscito a non farle diventar qualcosa fuori luogo.
Questa raccolta si ferma cronologicamente all'anno 2013.
Quattro anzichè cinque stelle per i refusi da correggere. Disorientano in particolare se si fruisce del testo a voce.
