Here's the newest edition of the "gold standard" in the field! This comprehensive new edition covers nearly all the major content areas in the veterinary technology curriculum. Written by veterinarians (including many board-certified specialists) and veterinary technicians, it covers common clinical procedures, clinical sciences, animal husbandry, pharmacology, medical and surgical care of small and large animal species, practice management, and more. Completely updated and reorganized for a more logical flow of information, the new edition now progresses from basic procedures to clinical sciences to management of small, large, and exotic species. It also contains several hundred new photographs, helpful pedagogical aids, and many totally rewritten chapters. Lavishly illustrated, with a Whos Who list of contributing authors. Helpful pedagogical aids such as introductions, suggested readings, and boxed Technician Tips throughout. New, expanded chapter on dentistry, reflecting greater involvement by technicians in preventive and corrective procedures. Heavily revised sections include birds, reptiles, and small mammals; anesthesia, pain management, and pharmacology; surgery; and medical records.
This was a required bok for my course. Last semester i was anoyed because i never used it this semester it has been excellent for a reference book. The online resounces have been a great help with quizzes flashcards and pictures to label. Definatly worth it's weight in gold this Semester especially in regards to clinic!
This was one of my favorite textbooks when I was in college to become a Licensed Veterinary Technician, and it still has a place on my bookshelf as a reference book. There are chapters for just about every subject that a veterinary technician needs to study.
Rumour has it some people have actually studied nothing but this book (on top of having the pre-requisite amount of hours working under a veterinarian of course) and passed the boards with no problem. Take it in pieces, or you'll find yourself dozing. Of course until you see the picture of a poor woman who didn't watch her step and the result of a horse nipping her booby! Ouch. That is permanently burned into my retina.
