Whoa.
This book went a totally different direction than I expected and at first, I was like...what? Then I was like, Holy Crap! This is so much better than the easy road I imagined. It is messy. It is not rainbows and unicorns, but damn if it didn't make me break out in goosebumps and take deep breaths along the way. Vin's journey is so much more than a romance, it is life. And doesn't that just suck sometimes? Especially, when you realize you're wrong.
Blinding moments of truth.
I admit, at first I felt cheated that the story turned, but then as it evolved into something more real and intense I was like, Wow. So unexpected and if you're looking for typical, this story isn't what you're looking for. By the end, I was so glad the easy story was ignore because this was so much more satisfying. Okay, maybe there could have been more D/s 'cause let's face it I adore Davitt and Snow's work in that playground, but there is a fantastic voyeuristic scene. You see the nascent beginnings of Vin's sexual revolution and it is SUBLIME.

Must start by saying this is not a BDSM book at all, even though its a follow up to Square Peg which is. Just wanted to clarify that for any peeps who aren't into that side of the genre. I would say you can read this as a standalone but obviously it contains all characters from The Square Peg so its probably better to read them as a series. Its also not a ménage story, despite the look of the cover, but whether that pleases you or not it really won't matter because this is a great story and I really enjoyed it.
I found Vin a complex character and for a little while, even though I liked his character I found I didn't quite connect to him early in the story, especially when he and Riley got together in the first part of the book which is told from his POV but then as the book moves along and you start to get the story told from Patrick's,that's when I started to really warm to him and by the end of it all I loved him.
But overall, I think Patrick has to be my favourite character in the book. I adored him. He's a sweetie. First impressions are that he's just slutty but at the same time he's funny, sweet and outrageous but his loyalty to Vin is second to none and vice versa. They really are BFF's even though they are so completely different.
Personally I could see exactly where the story was leading but I liked the way the authors manipulated the story and didn't go the safe route to make this into another formulaic romance. Vin has to work hard to get the ending that's perfect for him and its bumpy, so its not that easy a ride but it is a satisfying one. Definitely a keeper and one I'd be happy reread to read again down the line.

This was very different in tone and content from the first book The Square Peg. Right up front it is not BDSM and despite the title and cover no M/M/M relationship.
The Broken Triangle picks up where The Square Peg left off. The man Vin has pined after for the past 5 years shows up at Vin's bar seemingly out of nowhere. Although the two never had more than a passing acquaintance in High School, Vin has always considered Riley the only man for him. He even had Riley's initials worked into a tattoo and has chosen not to date and remain celibate. Now Vin is seemingly living out his dream with Riley.
Vin's best friend and co-worker Patrick, who is the complete opposite of celibate, wants his friend to be happy, but sees trouble with what Vin wants to be a HEA. Not only that, he has realized that his love for Vin goes beyond just friends. While he will support anything to make Vin happy, and will not undermine the relationship, he can't help but hope Vin will wake from his dream and open his eyes to what is right in front of him.
The book switches POV's between the serene Vin, and all over the place Patrick (who is not so much the man he puts out for all the world to see). We also get a bit of Shane and Ben but this is really Vin and Patrick's story. I enjoyed the route the authors took, and the characters they created. It can be read as a standalone, but as there are references to prior events that have a bearing on this story, it has more meaning if read after The Square Peg.

Firstly, I think it’s important to say right away,(and I don’t think it’s spoilerish because judging from the comments, people are wary of this) this story doesn't involve a threesome. Without giving too much away, it does not involve cheating either. What it does involve is sweet, somewhat naïve, sexy Vin and outrageously slutty Patrick -both from Square Peg #1.Riley, the other guy, is gorgeous and sweet too, and pretty much all Vin’s been dreaming about since High School. But Vin eventually chooses one. Actually, by the halfway mark you’ll be begging for him to make a particular choice.
I’m a huge fan of the UST/slow burn and although there was a good dose in this book, even more would possibly have made this a 5-star read for me. There’s an incredibly hot scene when Vin and Patrick go downstairs to investigate a noise in the bar and find Shane and Ben having rough, kinky sex on the pool table....phwoar!!!I wanted the more of the slow sizzle resulting from that scene. Once it had been established who Vin should be with, the authors could have really milked that aspect a bit more. Woah...pun so not intended but how else to phrase? Lol
I really enjoyed Patrick. I love how a character can use vampy, in-your-face behaviour to cover up a world of hurt and insecurity. And then to see that character exposed,in rare moments of utter seriousness, all walls down, is like receiving a gift. I cheered when the story eventually (!!) moved to his POV. Fans of the first book will love the glimpses of Shane and Ben throughout the story, how they both take Patrick under their wing and but give him a snot klap (SA-speak for smack) back into line when he needs it.
This a good, well written story with strong, likeable characters. Recommended to those who loved the first in the series.

Review written for Hearts On Fire Reviews
This is book 2 of the Square Peg series. Vin is the main character here. We know from The Square Peg that Vin is a pretty unique guy. He rocks the goth look, complete with piercings and tats, but doesn’t drink, smoke or do drugs, and has remained almost a complete virgin over the five years since high school saving himself for the crush he had at that time on classmate Reilly. He believes he truly loves Reilly and really hasn’t had any interest in looking for anything else.
Out of the blue, Riley shows up at the bar one afternoon seemingly searching for Vin, though Vin ends up having to chase after him. Now, keep in mind that Vin has believed he was in love with Riley for the past five years, so his vision is a shade cloudy where Riley is concerned. Riley seems nice enough though, and they decide to see each other. Pretty much right off the bat though, we see the major discrepancy here. Riley is all about sex to get off, the faster the better, because getting off is the whole point. Why do in an hour what you can do in five minutes? On the flip side, Vin is all about the ride, not caring so much about the destination. Being a virgin, Riley is unable to really give Vin the wonderful sexual experiences he should have had.
Then there is Patrick. Poor, sweet, down on his luck, slutty little misunderstood, twinky, Patrick. I loved him and saw right through his slutty antics from the beginning, even though each one was a bit of a disappointment. He is Vin’s bestie. After seeing the caring relationship of Ben and Shane, and even what appears to be the same with Vin and Riley, Patrick realizes that is what he truly longs and has been searching for, though never finding it with his casual hookups. He also realizes he wants that with Vin and decides it is time he turned his life around for the better.
I had a bit of trouble with this book in that I never liked Riley from the start and liked him even less with Vin. The majority of this story is about Vin and Riley, and it pained me to watch them trying to make a go of it when they so obviously weren’t right for each other. Add to that the fact that Patrick was there, perfect for Vin and trying so hard to be the good friend and just wanting Vin to be happy, even if that meant him staying with Reilly.
So, the first 75% of this book felt like a 3 star for me. But then, magic happens and Vin and Patrick finally figure things out. The last 25% of this story was totally 5 stars for me, bringing the overall average to a 4.
I absolutely loved Vin and Patrick together. I loved how Vin held his ground sexually to not settle for exactly what he wanted, even while hoping Patrick would be able to give him that. And Patrick, while used to being somewhat used and abused, did everything in his power to give Vin exactly what he asked for. Vin draws things out torturously slow, to the point that I felt I was being more impatient than Patrick. What a nice change of pace these scenes were. I only wish there had been more.

I had high hopes for this book. I like the authors style, the characters are often a bit different, the behaviour not always what I expect.
So I wasn't so happy at the beginning. It's difficult to get into a romance when the pairing is the wrong one. So at first we get only Vin's POV, how he finally meets the crush of his youth again, a guy he sees in a golden light and how this is like "his dreams come true" - but not.
Now Riley seems to be an okay guy, superficially he does everything right, says the right things, is okay with Vin's wishes, seems to respect them. But...I didn't feel them as a couple, which actually is the right feeling to get but was uncomfortable to read. Additionally Vin's POV is a bit naive and too accepting.
The moment the book switches to Patrick's POV it gets much better. Patrick is so endearing, that I wanted to cuddle him, help him get a grip on his life. I have a soft spot for those slutty boys who try to hide their vulnerabiltiy behind their obvious behaviour. Additionally Vin becomes much stronger in relation to him. While their dynamic was off the charts, the one between Vin and Riley was kind of painful.
I know - this is the story of the book so I shouldn't complain about it. I'm just saying, it took me a while to enjoy it. But then I did, oh yes....Vin and Patrick are perfect and *fans herself* ...Vin has some serious ideas about what he wants sexually and when he finally voices them...uff....

Finally finished - feels like it took me forever! Although it was interesting and I was reading on, in the end this will be remembered for being the one romance book where finally the sexual relationship wasn't over-the-moon perfect. Nope, it was more like, em. well, like, every-day-life, perhaps? LOL! And that was very much appreciated:)

Riley was a rich kid who grew up with all kinds of expectations, not only from his own parents but also from his parents' business partners. He was good friend with Marco,a spoiled son of those father's business partners. He liked sports, and boys--although nobody in high school knew this. Not his friends nor Vin, the goth boy whom he liked. Vin often got bullied, so Riley made sure he was there to save him. Until one day Vin just stopped coming to school altogether. Riley heard that Vin dropped out of school.
For years, Riley regretted that he never told Vin that he liked him. After college, Riley came out and lived as an out gay man. When Marco was arrested for arson, Riley learned that among workers who worked in the bar that Marco burned was Vin. Riley collected himself and went to the bar when it was reopened. The story started from there.
I liked reading this book. The dynamics between Riley and Vin are really different from the ones between Patrick and Vin. I wouldn't approve some things that Riley did to stay with Vin, but he probably didn't know any other ways. He really liked Vin, but was not ready to return the intensity that Vin showed him because there were things that were not yet worked out between them.
Patrick was a nice guy who only realized the true nature of his feelings toward Vin when the best friend started going out with Riley. While Patrick loved to sleep around, he drew line when he knew the other man was already taken. He backed off and went all the way to make sure that Riley stopped seeing him as a rival.
Vin had fallen for Riley since they were both in high school, so he was grateful that he finally could be reunited with the man he had been pinning for years. He was, however, concerned about Patrick and wished his best friend would get the man he deserved.
The title is The Broken Triangle, but the triangle never existed in the first place as Riley and Patrick are not really connected. Their only connection has been Vin.

This is a smoothly written, reunion-with-your-one-true-love book, that changes as it moves along with a couple of twists. The author creates appealing characters, and deliberately misses a few standard romance tropes, which I appreciated. I particularly liked the way the sex issue resolved toward the end, in a realistic way that fit the characters. This book has no BDSM and, so it might be a good fit for someone wanting to try these authors but not a fan of those tropes, which feature in many of their other books. Although it is a sequel to The Square Peg (which is BDSM), it is about a new couple and for the most part stands alone (although one plot element, a fire, happens in the first book. I think the references are clear enough without knowing the details though.)
This book didn't quite have the intensity of the first one. Patrick was a wonderful character, Vin a little less salient but I did care about him. Riley was sometimes unexpected, but sometimes a bit flat. (significant spoiler) Over all, it was a good solid read that I enjoyed.

I don't know why I waited so long to get back to these boys! I loved seeing Shane and Ben OMG they are so freaking hot! But Vin and Patrick just wow LOVED this!

When I got to the end of The Square Peg and realized that Vin would be getting a story. I was thrilled. The set up with the love of his life walking through the door after years and Vin chasing after him? It was perfectly set up and I wanted the boy’s story. What I got was not what I expected and I have mixed feelings about that.
Vin has been in love with Riley forever. As a teen in high school, the crush flourished into unrequited young love as Riley would “save” Vin from the group of jerks messing with him and like all crushes, Vin built up Riley in his head and placed his perfect and first young love on a pedestal. I fell for that Riley too, I wanted Vin to have his Happily Ever After with his love after not seeing him for five years and for Vin to finally do what he, um, hasn’t. I mean, I get it, I do - the reason that Vin dives head first into it all with Riley. I’ve had that whole scene where the boy I crushed on in high school shows up, sees me years later and realizes all that he’s missed. It’s a wonderful unrequited fairy tale… but Riley? Ugh. I didn’t like him.
From the first conversation I wanted to push these two apart, push Riley far, far away from my Vin. Riley was slimy, arrogant, judgmental and just, yuck to me. The real Riley that is, I was still crushing on the Riley in Vin’s head but sadly the up close, personal in the flesh Riley was nothing short of a jerk. When we learn who he is friends with, I threw up a bit in my mouth. I wondered if he has some ulterior motive for being with Vin and my dislike for the dude grew.
But on the flip side of Riley, we have Vin’s colorful BFF Patrick who is always there for Vin and when we get his POV, I fell head over heels for him. I love damaged boys and Patrick is a mess, a wonderful heartsick mess who I desperately wanted to have a sleep over with so we could pain our nails and share stories about our crushes. I just adored Patrick. Even though he is free with his love, when he realizes where his true feelings and his heart lie and who they lay with? He turns into this pigeon holed caterpillar and transforms into this gorgeous butterfly. I loved watching him grow and change and accept himself, flaws and all and welcome the love of his best friend.
It was also lovely and well, hot getting glimpses of Ben and Shane and the *ahem* pool table again. Nice to know the boys are still in lust and love with one another and how helpful they are to those who they employ. The talks with Patrick and Shane were so bro like but heart felt and the help that Ben gives Patrick made me melt. I loved those two in The Square Peg and that hasn’t changed.
But back to Vin and Patrick, because Riley doesn’t get any more of my time, these two were insanely sexy. Who knew Vin had that side to him? I guess he did and just needed the right boy to let it out… thank goodness for that because it again, was hot. Really hot.
It makes me sad that Vin had to go through all he did to realize who he wanted, he always knew what he wanted; someone to love him for who he was, no judgments and to be on his same level and I am so happy he gets it. So very, very happy.

But back to Vin and Patrick, because Riley doesn’t get any more of my time, these two were insanely sexy. Who knew Vin had that side to him? I guess he did and just needed the right boy to let it out… thank goodness for that because it again, was hot. Really hot.
It makes me sad that Vin had to go through all he did to realize who he wanted, he always knew what he wanted; someone to love him for who he was, no judgments and to be on his same level and I am so happy he gets it. So very, very happy.
The Broken Triangle is not an m/m/m book (despite the misleading cover), nor is it a threesome and no, there is no cheating. It’s just a story about two boys who stumble along the road to love until they find the right one.

As I was reading The Square Peg I became increasingly intrigued by Vin. I wanted to understand him & why he'd chosen celibacy. What the point of it was, what his backstory was, blah, blah, blah. We get to know a lot about Vin's decision making & personality here. I must admit I was surprised when I read the blurb & it talked about Patrick. I hadn't paired those two together.
Riley (Vin's high school crush) has suddenly walked back into Vin's life to his delight & they decide to date. Riley has been out of the closet for approximately a year but never forgot about Vin. He decides to contact him after seeing he worked at The Peg during all the media coverage over the renovations. Coincidentally, right about the time Vin & Riley make it official Patrick is the last to realize he's in love with Vin. Ain't that always the way? Patrick then embarks on a makeover of sorts in an attempt to make himself worthy of Vin. He really needn't have bothered because Riley is a box of rocks. B.O.R.I.N.G.
I didn't like Riley from the get go. I don't think he's a bad or evil person, I just think he's morally malleable to whatever the popular position is & is spineless. Moreover, he's constantly trying to change Vin! Why? Just baffling.This is a highly insightful book on the dangers of idealizing your first love & trying to make that ideal fit into reality. Oddly enough, it truly makes square pegs of both Vin & Riley. Hmmm wonder if that was on purpose…
As much as I enjoyed this story, I didn't love it. It's chock full of angst & internal dialogues by both Vin & Patrick that I felt slowed the pacing. The writing is exceptional as with The Square Peg along with the character development, but it just didn't hold the same appeal for me of the first book. Then again I can respect any book that makes subtle The Princess Bride references &, seriously, WTH is a bacon cupcake? I think I had a myocardial infarction just reading that.

3.5 for this because if I had to read a book where 75% of it was spent with one MC in a relationship with someone besides the other MC, these authors did it just right. I did not like the person he was in relationship with but I didn't hate him. I just wish that part of book would have been over quicker. Maybe 50/50.

I've owned this one for quite a while and simply postponed picking it up. Procrastinator here. But I'm glad I finally read it.
It started slow, at least it felt that way to me. Vin is still a virgin, still holding out for a dream--the dream of his one true love--Riley, the guy he's loved since high school. Now mind you, Rilely doesn't know this. In fact, Riley might not even be gay. But imagine Vin's surprise when he shows up to tell Vin he's wanted him for years and has come to finally get him.
Unfortunately, Riley's life circumstances are very different from Vin's. Riley is wealthy, well-connected, and wants what he wants when he wants it. Vin lives in the room above the Square Peg where's he a bartender and he's still a virgin because he doesn't mind waiting for something special.
Though they start off hot and heavy, Vin is not happy, and when circumstances combine to let him see that he and Riley are not on the same page at all, Vin finally sees someone who's been there all along-- his BFF, Patrick. And Patrick has taken the time to clean up his act because he realizes that Vin is his man and he's willing to fight for him.
So all in all, the action did pick up in the second half and I loved the scenes with Vin and Patrick. The loving was slow. Very slow. In fact, very, very slow, but it was all the hotter because of that.
I may just have to re-read this one in future.

A "Live Your Life, Buy The Book" Review
Yay! This book yanked me right out of my book funk. The storyline was different than I initially thought. There is NO threesome. None. No sharing. No cheating. There are multiple love interests but it creates some good tension and not in the “I hate him playing with their emotions type of way” type of angsty tension. It was so good! This is a story about how life can and can’t live up to your wildest dreams. (fantasies?)
Vin is a virgin. He doesn’t date and honestly has very little interest in it. Vin is holding onto a romantic fantasy about his straight crush from high school confessing his feelings for Vin. He knows it’s silly but nobody could ever live up to his fantasies about Riley and if he did find someone he’d want to feel that way about them before having sex. Vin is a tattooed and pierced bartender, who doesn’t drink, at the Square Peg. One night Riley walks in. He confesses he’s known Vin has worked there for a year and what do you know, he’s gay and wants to give it a go with Vin. Seems he’s been fantasizing about him since high school, too. They both jump into the relationship. Sounds like a good book right there, right? There’s so much more. Riley comes from money and a different social standing than Vin and doesn’t exactly accept Vin for who he is. The author does a great job of skating that line of him doing or saying something unforgivable and Vin loves him so you want him to be happy.
Right about this time Vin’s best friend Patrick realizes he has feelings for him. Real feelings. Like the kind that even though it hurts to see Vin with someone else, he doesn’t want to hurt Vin, so he decides to keep quiet. Patrick knows Riley is not the man for Vin, but he also thinks he’s not good enough for Vin. Patrick is a party boy and a slut. Up until his revelation about needing to be worthy of Vin, Patrick’s been happy to sleep with anyone who turns him on and play the role he’s adopted as carefree play boy. Now that he has admitted to himself loves Vin, he wants to be the type man Vin deserves if he ever gets the chance.
So this story sets up and plays out two different romantic relationships involving Vin. They overlap a little but no cheating ever happens. Vin is too good a guy for that honestly. I loved Patrick. He was funny and flawed. I love a slut who changes their ways for love. Vin was adorable. Goth in appearance and a really good guy. Riley is handsome and rich. He used to stick up for Vin when nobody else would. He’s created his own dream life with Vin but both men start to see that reality is what they’re living in.

I hated this book! Then why did I give it five stars, you ask? Because I hated it—but in a good way.
Vin has held onto the fantasy of Riley since high school, thinking it was an unattainable dream. Now Riley appears literally on his doorstep, speaking of his amorous feelings now that he’s out of the closet. Vin’s in love, believing he finally found the right guy to give his virginity to. Then there’s Vin’s best friend, Patrick, the neighborhood slut who suddenly realizes he’s in love—with Vin. It’s a mess.
Fantasies are that for a reason. Reality rarely matches up. And Riley? He’s too good to be true, a rich playboy who wants Vin, but doesn’t really like him for who he is. Vin’s a tattooed Goth bartender at a gay nightclub, and Riley thinks Vin lacks ambition and that he can do better. Patrick, on the other hand, likes Vin for who he is, but cannot pursue his love because he feels unworthy due to his slutty reputation and because Vin’s now in a relationship with Riley. Patrick’s a flamboyant twink who doesn’t hide who he is, and he stands up to Riley, and then tries to make friends for the sake of Vin’s happiness. But the ultimate question is, is Vin really happy?
Okay, why I hated this book in a good way. First, I absolutely detested Riley! He gets a gift, Vin, and totally pisses on it, not having the slightest clue as to what a good thing he has. Dumbass. Second, this book was almost totally over before even a kiss happened between Vin and Patrick! God, the wait was killing me! I was still reading this at 4 AM waiting for that magical moment. Oye. My patience has its limits, for crying out loud. Third, this story was pulling emotions out of me the whole freaking time, and it was almost too much to bear! Hating Riley’s casual indifference, being frustrated over Vin’s blindness and indecision, and adoring the hell out of the kindhearted Patrick who gets his heart trampled on way too many times.
Good things. Yay! The plot takes a long, long time to develop since this is the definition of a character driven story. I really felt like I got to know these men, inside and out. The writing’s great. Ms. Davitt and Ms. Snow write very well together, seamlessly and in an engaging manner. And the three men (including the side characters) are all their own men, with distinct and relatable personalities. Dialogue rings true, especially during the moment Vin has his dark epiphany about Riley’s true nature. That was a great scene, heartbreaking, infuriating, and visceral.
All in all, this is an easy recommend for all those who like their gay erotic vanilla with a whole lot of spice ice.

The first half of this book was so very bittersweet. The author really did an amazing job of capturing the whole feeling that comes when you have either idolized or wanted something for so long, then when the reality comes, there is just no way it can live up to the dream.
I completely bought in to why Vin stuck around for as long as he did. Why he thought that Riley was "the one". He's young, inexperienced (by choice) and very idealistic. He has nothing to compare to, he can't logically see what is missing. He's also not stupid and when he finally gets that he has put this relationship with a dream on a pedestal for so long and that it isn't at all what he thought it's a relief and so sad for him at the same time. It took a long time to get there, but that did make it believable.
And Patrick, I would love to just sit and have a conversation with him. He's so awesomely random and actually a perfect fit for Vin. They are both at extreme ends of the personality spectrum, but mesh together so well they end up being balanced.
I thought this was a great follow up to Square Peg. These two MCs were so different than Ben and Shane, the story had to be their own instead of just a continuation of the same. It fit, but was still strong enough to stand on it's own.

I understood Vin’s attraction to Riley at the start. It’s always interesting to see your high school crush and Vin had been holding onto his crush for a number of years, so it made sense to me that’s he would try anything to make it work.
I also enjoyed that both of the guys didn’t really understand their connection until they thought the other one was with someone else. Neither did anything to put a wedge, but believing the other loved someone else brought their feelings to the surface.
The sex scenes between Vin and Patrick were hot and I liked that being with the right person didn’t automatically mean that Vin was converted to being a switch. Sometimes people just don’t like it or get off on it and that’s fine, so long as it works for both partners.

From the reviews and the title, I thought this was a love triangle which I was wary about since I don't like them. However, it's pretty obvious who will ended up with who 30% into the book, and even tho it didn't turn out as I fear, I can't say I loved it either. Too often the book would turn away just right as it hit a part that I hoped for. The sex were awkward, if not lackluster - but maybe that's because I read about the characters from the first book and they were forever ingrained in my mind as little kids. *Shrugs*
Despite all its flaws, it did have its moments. Patrick turned out to be a blasted, he was my favorite character (after Ben and Shane, of course, who too had steal the show with that pool table scene :3)

I LOVE Patrick, what a great character. I found it a little difficult to believe that Vin embraced celibacy mooning over Riley. Do men do that? All in all, this as a terrific story that will leave you smiling.

I very much looked forward to this sequel of the steamy BDSM novel, The Square Peg, and am happy to say it exceeded my expectations. I loved this sweetly romantic, growing pains story; it was humorous, hot and poignant in equal measure. The romance was beautifully paced, providing exquisite jolts of anticipation as the two lead characters navigate the introspective path of unfamiliar emotions to learn about, find, and conquer true love.
Vincent, the hot, tattooed, yoga practicing, Mexican, Goth bartender from The Square Peg, lives a Zen-like life. He paces everything in his life methodically, carefully examining all the pros and cons of his choices to make the best decisions for his chosen lifestyle. He keeps his life uncomplicated, tries to answer questions truthfully, and is tolerant and compassionate toward others. He likes tattoos and piercings and has plenty of both; all of which only add to his allure. His enigmatic hotness doesn’t go unnoticed by those that frequent The Square Peg, but anyone who asks him out, quickly learns: Vin doesn’t date, nor does he do hookups, in fact Vin is celibate. He’s in love and is hoping for a chance with the dude he’s jonesing for, Riley, a person he hasn’t seen in five years. No, as hot as Vin is, no one will get any attention from him unless they are looking to purchase a drink. If you want attention, a date, or even a quickie, Patrick, Vin’s closest friend, the enthusiastic waiter who brings your drink to you, he’s your guy.

Sure, he’s a little dizzying if you talk to him too long, but that mouth knows its way around a cock and he’s pretty, easy come easy go. Of course he believes in a Mr. Right…but how are you going to find Mr. Right unless you sample a multitude of Mr. Right Nows?
These two opposites are best friends, have movie nights even, and offer each other support when the need arises. When Riley suddenly appears in The Square Peg, Vincent finally has a chance to be with his dream boy and Patrick is all for it, comparing the two men’s romance to a fairy tale. Inspired by his friends' successful love strategy, Patrick decides to clean up his act, go celibate even, for surely there is a prince charming in his future as well?
There were so many choice moments in this story, so many delights for me to discover. The depiction of dream boy, Riley, was terrific, bringing to my mind very real men whom I have met in my travels. I loved the internal examination each character put themself through as they attempted to better their lives. Seeing Shane and Ben (from the first book) through the eyes of Vin and Patrick was very amusing and beautifully showcased the differences between the twenty-something versus the thirty-something mindset. Okay, um, the “Hot” scene was not humorous, and had me yelling at my Kindle for the two leads to be brave and… “Do something…say something…” with a huge grin on my face. I loved Vincent, as what’s not to love about a gorgeous, long-haired, golden-skinned, tattooed Goth, who likes to take things slow? But for me, the real surprise was Patrick. What an adorable, lovable, determined little twink, he turned out to be. This is an excellent series; I sure hope I haven’t seen the last of this crew and all of the supporting players.

His enigmatic hotness doesn’t go unnoticed by those that frequent The Square Peg, but anyone who asks him out, quickly learns: Vin doesn’t date, nor does he do hookups, in fact Vin is celibate. He’s in love and is hoping for a chance with the dude he’s jonesing for, Riley, a person he hasn’t seen in five years. No, as hot as Vin is, no one will get any attention from him unless they are looking to purchase a drink. If you want attention, a date, or even a quickie, Patrick, Vin’s closest friend, the enthusiastic waiter who brings your drink to you, he’s your guy.
Patrick is fun; he’s colorful, he’s cute, and with his endless variety of hair and eye colors, he’s never boring. Patrick’s a snappy dresser and has a peppery retort to every comment sent his way. Sure, he’s a little dizzying if you talk to him too long, but that mouth knows its way around a cock and he’s pretty, easy come easy go. Of course he believes in a Mr. Right…but how are you going to find Mr. Right unless you sample a multitude of Mr. Right Nows?
These two opposites are best friends, have movie nights even, and offer each other support when the need arises. When Riley suddenly appears in The Square Peg, Vincent finally has a chance to be with his dream boy and Patrick is all for it, comparing the two men’s romance to a fairy tale. Inspired by his friends' successful love strategy, Patrick decides to clean up his act, go celibate even, for surely there is a prince charming in his future as well?
There were so many choice moments in this story, so many delights for me to discover. The depiction of dream boy, Riley, was terrific, bringing to my mind very real men whom I have met in my travels. I loved the internal examination each character put themself through as they attempted to better their lives. Seeing Shane and Ben (from the first book) through the eyes of Vin and Patrick was very amusing and beautifully showcased the differences between the twenty-something versus the thirty-something mindset. Okay, um, the “Hot” scene was not humorous, and had me yelling at my Kindle for the two leads to be brave and… “Do something…say something…” with a huge grin on my face. I loved Vincent, as what’s not to love about a gorgeous, long-haired, golden-skinned, tattooed Goth, who likes to take things slow? But for me, the real surprise was Patrick. What an adorable, lovable, determined little twink, he turned out to be. This is an excellent series; I sure hope I haven’t seen the last of this crew and all of the supporting players.

Jane Davitt and Alexa Snow together again for the Square Peg series is a must read. This is a 3.5 star smexy yet sensitive book.
Vin is a regularly guy who works at a bar. He's a nice guy with a bad boy outer shell covered in tattoos and a sweet gooey inside. Riley is the spoiled rich boy who is from the wrong side of the tracks. Patrick is the party boy with an open-for-business sign on his butt. Poor Vin is tugged in two directions between Riley and Patrick.
What is so attractive about Ms. Davitt and Ms. Snow's characters is how well they represent an average person. There are no billionaires sweeping a poor boy off his feet. Vin, Patrick and Riley all hold real jobs that are relatable. They have friends who are recognizable in our own lives. This familiar aspect makes the story more personal and engaging. Very quickly, Vin, Patrick and Riley become recognizable friends. The twist and pull of the relationships yank the reader in and sides will be chosen. Team Patrick or Team Riley, which one are you? Both guys possess good and bad qualities. Which one will Vin choose to play with? Why not have both? Right, like most situations, Patrick and Riley don't get along.
This tale is more than just who wins Vin at the end. It's a sweet journey of growth for Patrick and a sexual discovery for Vin. The sex is sizzling and scrumptious. Vin's exploration in sex is so good to witness. It will satiate many a voyeuristic fetish lover. Even Vin and Patrick are treated to a torrid Peeping Tom opportunity. Characters Ben and Shane from the first series make a racy cameo with some rough loving on a pool table. Now I will suspiciously look at pool tables at every bar. If a black light is cast on it, what will I see?
Davitt and Snow craft a sweet and hot romance in a smooth single voice. It's not possible to distinguish who wrote which part. This team is polished and they shine. From the loveable characters to arousing sexual recreation, they cover it all. The triangle may be broken, but their artistic ability is not. This sweet coming of age romance is recommended to contemporary m/m romance readers.

I read the Square Peg and thoroughly enjoyed it, so I was looking forward to reading this one. I enjoyed this book, just not as much as the first one, and a lot of that was because of the immature behavior of the characters at times. Patrick was sweet and lovable, but at times I wanted him to just grow up.
Riley was a bit of a selfish jerk, and I couldn't understand why Vin couldn't see it. Maybe love truly is blind.
Vin was his usual lovely goth self, but showed some stupid decision making at times.
I could easily see where this book was heading from early on, but did still enjoy the journey.
The highlight for me was the chance to catch up with Ben and Shane. After finishing this, I went and re-read their story.

Vin mooned over Riley for years, saving himself for a dream. Surprisingly enough, Vin got his chance years later but I don't know about you, I could see Riley wasn't right for him from the get-go and just how long was it going to take Vin to figure it out. While on the sidelines, his bff Patrick suddenly realizes he loves Vin when Riley turns up.
I avoid New Adult tomes for a reason and that's what this felt like to me. I'll probably go back and reread The Square Peg because Shane and Ben were hot.

I really loved this one! Patrick and Vin were perfect for each other. They communicated well, they had smoking hot chemistry, and really just enjoyed each other's company. I liked that this story featured a character who admitted to not loving being a bottom. It was nice that he tried it and enjoyed it enough with Patrick but in the end Vin was honest that he'd prefer not to bottom. The books I've read all seem to be full of characters who only have perfectly amazing, mind blowing sex every time, too or bottom so a change was nice.
