Breaking (Escorted #1.5) by Claire Kent is a very short story at 86 pages featuring Anders and Lori, the couple from Escorted. If you liked Escorted, you’ll love Breaking, although it’s much heavier on the sex. It was nice to return and see Anders, the former hot bald (he’s still bald!) escort and prostitute who falls for one of his clients, Lori the former virgin erotic romance author who came to Anders in order for him to show her the wonders of sex. Breaking takes place three years later and Anders and Lori are still very much in love and starting to plan their wedding.
Anders has been away for six weeks and apart from Lori while researching for his dissertation. He finds out something that throws him for a loop and he doesn’t know how to handle it. The only way he can find solace and forget is to lose himself in Lori’s body. He thinks if he can give her extreme pleasure, then he can recover emotionally, but Lori knows something is wrong and she wants to help him, even though he won’t tell her and uses sex to keep her in the dark from the turbulent emotions he’s feeling.
Breaking is one hot novella. Anders is a robot sex machine here and amazingly generous to the woman who owns his heart. He’s still sexy bald, very much a giver in bed, and dedicated to Lori, his fiancée. This is shown from the moment this story begins and continues as he tries to work through this big issue he has, which isn’t revealed until the very end. Breaking packs an emotional punch even though it's short. Lori is very supportive and wants to help Anders reach his happy place. Again, the sex here is explosive, although the word "good" was used far too many times from Lori. But then again Lori is mindless with pleasure when she says it, so I can let that go.
Breaking was a great read overall. If you haven’t read Escorted, the first book, you must. I hope Claire will write more shorts showing us Anders and Lori together, and how a former escort and a former virgin have embraced one another and are so connected not only through sex, but through trust and understanding, which is what I want in all the romances I read.
