A few months ago, Spencer Perry made a deal with the devil. Or, more aptly, Hades. With her boyfriend back from the dead, honoring those promised nightly trips to the Underworld has gotten more complicated. Torn between loyalty towards Micah and duty towards Hadrian, Spencer has enough to deal with without having to worry about Persephone. Unfortunately, the original Gravewalker is hell bent on unleashing malicious spirits on the world, and she thinks Spencer is standing in her way. Attempting to stop Persephone means learning how to use her new abilities, and more time in the Underworld with Hadrian, a fact Micah strongly dislikes. With the clock already ticking down, Spencer needs to accept this new role she's been given, and maybe accept that some feelings, and some loves, don't actually last forever.
Librarians, please don't add books. I stay up to date and add them myself and have ended up with many multiple copies because others add them later. Thank you!

I really enjoyed this one. There was more emotion, action and answers. I have grown to love the characters and I look forward to more from the Underworld! ;)
This second installment was just as good as the first! I love the characters! The plot was great! Everything was cohesive and blended wonderfully. I'm already dying to grab book 3! Five glittery stars!
This was a great follow up to the first book. Decisions were made. Battles waged. Puppies were gifted. So much win. I've already downloaded book three so I can get my Hadrian on.
It’s a good story, but focuses more on the love triangle going on than anything else. And I’m not really rooting for any of them. It’s obvious who we’re meant to pick, and what’s going on, but Spencer not having butterflies anymore is just not justifiable for where this goes. Yep, that annoyed me. She’s in lust with one boy, and long-term love with another. You can hear the drama already. Spencer spends most of her time fighting with the guys. And Ceby! What even happened there? Half a page of mention and is never heard of again. Very big on high school teen drama (angsty, and most of it is the MC torturing herself choosing between two guys), not a huge amount of action, but enjoyable non-the-less. The side characters are starting to get their own stories carrying along too, which just gives it that little bit extra.

While I didn't love this book quite as much as the first one, I still enjoyed it and am glad I continued the series.
A lot of the things I liked about the first one were still present, like the realistic (rather than overdramatic and trope-filled) depiction of high school, the supportive female friendships, and the unique portrayal of the Underworld.
I also liked the characters again. Well, I actually liked Hadrian a little less because I didn't like his pushiness and the way he assumed he knew Spencer's feelings. Thayer, however, became more interesting, and I liked seeing his friendship with Spencer.
Another thing I really liked was how well the author showed the changing feelings and confusion inside Spencer. The love triangle has never been just sudden or out-of-nowhere. Spencer's feelings and confusion have been a constant thing, but I mean that in a good way as I found her thoughts realistic.
I had a few issues with this book that I didn't have with the first one though. One was that there were more grammar and spelling errors---not enough to ruin my enjoyment of the book, but enough that it's worth mentioning since I know some people are more bothered by that. Another was that a few small things didn't quite make sense to me, like what the point is of Thayer marking people for death if people can still die before their time. I also disagreed with some of Spencer's reasoning for her love triangle decision, *SPOILER ALERT* *END SPOILER ALERT* Lastly, I really don't like in books when the MC's best friends just so happen to end up having feelings for the love interest's best friends and vice versa because the odds of that actually happening are slim to none. The progression of the relationships was written in a natural enough way, but that just always bothers me.
Overall though, I still thought the story was strong, most of the characters were likeable, and the emotional war inside Spencer's head about the love triangle was really well written, and I enjoyed reading it!

I really enjoyed the first book in the series and was excited to get my hands on the second one. Spencer had this intense emotional connection to Hadrian and with Micah brought back from the dead, she was going to have to truly face herself and her feelings toward the two men in her life.
To be honest though, the story started off extremely slow. There was a lot of explanation about the events of the first book and not a lot of action. It wasn’t until about a third of the way in that the plot began picking up and I found myself invested in it.
Spencer is still in danger from the wrath of Persephone and she has to learn to control her newly discovered powers so she’ll be prepared for anything that might happen. She’s learning that her once perfect relationship with Micah might not be as perfect as she always believed now that he’s been brought back to life. His green-eyed monster rises to the surface every time he sees her with Hadrian and when she does have free time, he’s always catching up with the friends he missed while he was dead.
And Spencer’s relationship with Hadrian only continues to confuse her. She knows she has feelings for him, but is it love? And is it worth giving up Micah for, someone she once swore she’d grow old with? In short, it was true to the ways of the love triangle. A confused girl, being pulled in two entirely different directions.
While all the loose ends were tied up in Unleashed, new ones were created for the third book. To be honest, I was expecting a lot more from this story than what I got. For the majority of the book we saw Spencer get pulled in two different directions as she tried to sort out her feelings and getting irrationally angry at Hadrian even when it wasn’t his fault. There was a fighting scene at the end, but even that seemed minor and I felt like it was over too quickly. When it was over I was just like
Overall I enjoyed the story but felt it wasn’t as good as Unhinged. I’m still interested in the series and will finish it and would recommend it if you enjoy retelling of myths, but just don’t get your hopes up for an action-packed adventure.
I really, really enjoyed this book even though it had a lot of ups and downs between Hadrian and Spencer that made me want to tear my hair out. There was such a lot of build up in this book from the persephone plot, the growth of Spencer, the tension with Micha, the relationships with Ferris and Quinn and Thayer and Syd. There's so much growth that whilst the only major 'battle' scene happens at the end it doesn't feel like a 'filler' book since so much happens and changes with the characters themselves.
I particularly enjoyed the journey that Spencer and Hadrian go through in this both together and individually and wouldn't say no to my own little Cerby either :)
Wow!! Holy Crap!! I can’t wait for the next book in the series!!!

I want to thank the author Tempest C. Avery for the opportunity to read and review this amazing book in her Underworld Series.
In this, the 2nd of the Underworld Series Spencer has just gotten her boyfriend Micah’s back from the dead thanks to Thayer (the God of Death). Spencer has to figure out how to adjust her life around having Micah back, who she thought she couldn’t live without and fulfilling her remaining contract at night with Hadrian in the Underworld. All while spending days in school with her friends and handling life as things get more complicated and more dangerous with Persephone sending malicious spirits after her and possessing her school friends. Add to that the confusion and guilt over her developing feelings for Hadrian and learning her new Gravewalker abilities and how to use them for good makes life very stressful. Spencer is determined to figure out who she really is and if she wants what she always thought she wanted or if she has grown and changed and now wants more.
This book is even more compelling than the first and I could not put it down. The story world Tempest creates in the Underworld is so detailed and totally pulls you in. I found the relationships between Spencer and Sydney, Quinn, Hadrian, Thayer, Ferris to be so intriguing and complex. I fell even more in love with the characters and their relationships and interactions with each other.
I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for an exciting new series, especially if you like Greek mythology.
AMAAAZZIING So let me start off by saying that I'm a huge fan of Greek Mythology and an even bigger fan of the Persephone/Hades myth. And I'm still not disappointed!! I feared that this was going to be a downgraded book since its the 2nd in the series and the sequel to the first is seldom good. I was so wrong!! The twists and turns of the book was so unexpected I was left sputtering into my screen. Ew. But wow. I hated the fact that Spencer kept on mentioning how she was, prior to Micah's death. She basically said she was Micah's girlfriend and nothing else. I hated that, because Spencer was my favourite character and I couldn't fault her. Eye opener. Micah, I hated that I started to like him. In the first book I wrote him off as a spineless loser, yes, but then they went on their date in the park and he was being funny and all-round adorable. Urgh. I kinda guessed that the big showdown was going to be on the night of Micah's game. It was pretty cool, though I would've loved to see more of Hadrian's powers (heehee) and Ferris almost dying, uncool. I loved that there were more quotes. They were adorable, I mean where do you get this?! The new statue in place of Persephone?? Oh and might I say that was THE best ending ever!! Thank you, I've waited so long for that kiss... I would totally recommend this series if you are a Greek Mythology fan. If not, read it anyway.
I received the book from the author free of charge in exchange for an honest review. Wow!! This is by far one of my favourite books ever!! :D Incredible! I wish it was possible to give this book 6 stars. Normally I find that sequels can never compare with the first book of a series, but Unleashed was actually perfect in my opinion! I loved watching the relationship between Spencer, Hadrian and Micah unfold and never for a moment found myself disappointed. I kept telling myself "Okay, one more chapter and then I'll stop reading for now," but found that I just couldn't stop reading! Tempest C. Avery is an incredibly talented author and I am absolutely in love with the Underworld series along with the rest of her books. I am SOOOO excited for the next book and am so happy that it'll be released sometime this summer! I don't know what I would do if I had to wait a long time for the next book to come out. Can't wait to get my hands on it!! I 100% recommend the Underworld series to anyone who loves Greek Mythology, romance and paranormal adventures.
4.5 Although I really enjoyed this sequel I feel like it could've been shorter. Not that I'm complaining because I flew through this book no matter how long it was. We get to see Spencer grow into a stronger person and I really liked seeing it develop. I kinda want to know more about the Underworld and the other things that come with it and hopefully we'll see that in the next book. Even though I loved the first book more this was still a good book.
I loved the book! Maybe I liked the first one a little bit more, but this was good nonetheless! I liked the first one better because Unleashed focuses more on Spencer's emotions and confusion regarding those. I'm happy to have finally read it though and can't wait for the next book!
Wow.... just...wow!!!! I'm still speechless. I loved, loved, loved this book sooooo much!!! I'm still recovering from reading the ending. I'm having a serious case of butterflies. Or better, I had butterflies half of the time reading the book. Hadrian is just too hot and cute! He can be so sweet at times! He can also be a serious pain in the butt and I may have even wanted to hit him in the head a couple of times. But still love him veery much! I also had this urge to slap Spencer too at times. She was so infuriatingly stubborn and made me frustrated! She didn't see that she was making a huge mistake by wanting to be with Micah at all costs even knowing deep down that her feeligs were changing. I also didn't like Micah at all. In this book he was even more selfish and annoying than in the first book. He was also a bad boyfriend, if you ask me. What with Spence throwing a Birthday party for him and then him disappearing from her view without saying a word and just playing with his friends, then complaining he didn't see much of her all night. Right, she should have watched him hanging with his friends all night doing nothing else, instead of having fun with her friends and Hadrian. How sh@t of a boyfriend are you? As I said, I really don't like him. He has a weird way of loving Spencer. And he behaved poorly. Crazy jealous and selfish. She's better off without him. She's perfect for Hadrian (at least now she is, she was a little selfish too in the past, but she's changed). I even kind of liked Thayer in this book. I'm curious about his interest in Syd. I wish she wasn't so interested in Hadrian though. Or maybe that was a facade. Mmmm... we'll see in the next book (Because I'm sure there will be a third book. Soon, I hope) what will happen with Thayer and Sydney. And the new couple Hadrian and Spence. Did I say that I loved the ending? I'll say it again! I loved, loved, loved the ending! It was awesome! I wanted to be Spencer and kiss Hadrian senseless! I still have butterflies if I think of it. Wow, I got myself a new bookboyfriend! And I love him! I adore him! I can't wait for the next book! I want to read it right now! At least I'm happy about the ending and the wait won't be as painful as it would have been if I was left with a cliffhanger or with a negative epilogue. The only thing ruining the book a little, were the many, many spelling errors. They were even marked in red. Spelling aside, the story was great! I fought gravity and sleep to read this book. I was tired and needed sleep like crazy but wanted to read this book so much that I fought the dropping of my eyelids, my brain trying to go Nighty-night on me and Dreamland calling to me. I also felt immensely connected to the characters. And that's a very positive thing for me when reading a book. I was an emotional wreck with a serious case of butterflies by the time I got to the end of the book, but I loved every minute, every tiny butterfly, every feeling, every emotion and I think I'm now addicted -seriously addicted- to this series!
It took me far too long to get to this one. I originally intended to do this months ago because I enjoyed the first in the series, Unhinged. But in reality, when I picked this one up... months ago (and I actually paid for it), I was really buying it for my daughter. She was the one who just had to find out what was going to happen next; who was going to end up with whom, and; what really happened to the evil Persephone.
Although I really enjoyed the first book, I have to be honest in that I wasn't as thrilled with this one. It is a continuation from where Unhinged left off - Spencer is still clearly in danger and the once perfect relationship she had with Micah might not be so perfect now that he's resurrected and among the living. For me though, it wasn't quite enough. Sure, some of the hanging threads at the end of Unhinged were tied up in Unleashed, and of course some new ones were created so we can look forward to book three. The story did continue, but I have to admit I was expecting more actual story in this one than I found. Don't get me wrong - it was okay and it does get moving in the second half- but there was far too much storytelling time spent on emotional recapping and one character admiring another but thinking it was wrong. It started to feel repetitive. There weren't really any new emotions or relationship dilemmas with the Spencer/Micah/Hadrian situation - until almost the end. On the positive side though, there was a little more going on with the minor characters.
Overall, I liked the story but the four star rating is more my daughter's. I did buy the ebook and at $2.99 I'm not complaining. It was worth it. Sure there were a few editorial things overlooked, but considering I have shelled out a whole lot more for traditionally published books (as ebooks) and found a similar amount of mistakes, it's nothing. When I pay more than $10 for an ebook that has errors (and so far I haven't read an ebook without some kind of error or errors), I totally feel ripped off. Particularly if I think the story is only okay. So for a $2.99 book with a few mistakes and a story I still enjoyed - Unleashed gets my recommendation.
When I found out Unleashed had come out I jumped on the chance to read it! I really enjoyed the first book in the series(Unhinged). I love the world the author has created. Once I sat down to read this book I couldn't put it down. And once I finished the book it left me wanting more! I am looking forward to the next book to see what happens next!
Its not often that I enjoy the second book more than the first, but in this case it is well deserved.
Bit of a spoiler alert - the scene with the possessed little girl and her dolls........ CREEPY!!!! It totally freaked me out, that I kept watching my bedroom door entrance in case some demonic dolls came waltzing in....
Besides that bit of uber-creepiness, I really enjoyed the book.
