Getting stranded in the snow without cell service wasn’t the worst thing that could have happened to Eloise Rivers.
Being saved by the man who’d led her on more than once was.
And it held that spot right up until Nate’s Jeep got stuck too, leaving her staring at his stupidly handsome face—pretending she wasn’t still tempted to give him the chance to let her down again—while they waited for help to arrive.
But it wasn’t help that came—it was someone hellbent on taking them down.
Now she and Nate are racing through the wilds of Alaska, hoping to find their way to safety before whoever unleashed a hail of bullets on her snowbound SUV finds them.
It’s not as terrible as she expected it to be. Nate turns out to be surprisingly caring. Shockingly sweet. Ridiculously protective.
And unbelievably warm to snuggle with during the long, cold nights.
Soon Eloise is realizing Nate holds onto the pain of his past almost as tightly as she holds hers.
But letting go of their pasts only helps if they can survive long enough to make it to the future.

When I read an Alaska Security book, I know I am headed to my happy place. I am getting great suspense. Edge of the seat, I do not ever guess correctly, and it is hard to put down suspense. The characters are well written, believable, and steamy. The women are strong. The men are swoon worthy, and protectors. The found family has grown quite a bit as this is the tenth book.

Eloise is a strong, sassy woman, but is this a mask she hides behind? Nate is not perfect either; his childhood has left scars. As proximity throws these two together, and the banter begins, we realize there is a fine line between love and hate. Not all is smooth sailing, and there are funny parts as well. I will await what comes next.

Thank you to the Author for the advanced copy; this is my voluntary review.

As seen on my blog (Jessie's Reading Corner):
DISCLAIMER: I voluntarily read and reviewed an advance copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I can’t tell you how much I loved this book, and how obsessed I am with this series! I wish Netflix, Amazon or Passionflix would make this into a TV show because this series has everything that I’m looking for when it comes to a TV show that I would watch; action, romance, community!

Line of Resistance is the second to last book in the Alaskan Security-Team Rogue series, but don’t fret as there are plenty more books in the Alaskan Security world in the future!

I just loved Nate and Eloise together! The chemistry between the two jumped out of the page from the very first page! I loved that Eloise didn’t let Nate off the hook about all the things that Nate promised her. I loved how Nate worked at restoring her trust when he realized how bogus is reasons for staying away from her were. Nate’s backstory broke my heart and I loved that he trusted Eloise enough to reveal that to her.

Nate and Eloise’s love story is a delicious slow burn! They had to not only work on their issues, but also stay ahead of the bad guys that were after them. When Nate finally gives himself the freedom to pursue Eloise, be ready for the dirty talk and some of the hottest steam ever! My personal favorite scene was the shower scene!

It wouldn’t be Alaskan Security if there wasn’t some incredible action scenes involved! Nate and Eloise go on the run and have to rely on their survival skills in the wintry and wild wilderness of Alaska. Then there was this great scene towards then end that had me literally holding my breath!

It also wouldn’t be Alaskan Security if there wasn’t a heavy dose of community. Not just with the Alaskan Security team, but with other people in Alaska as well. There are two people that you meet in this book and they just enhanced the story so much! You really need to read this book so you can meet them as well! Since Nate and Eloise met through Tyson and Naomi in Dangerous Proximity it only seems fitting that they play a bigger role in this book as well. Reed was also a major character and it’s fitting since his book is next in this series! That teaser at the end… I honestly can’t wait for it!

Thank you Janice and Julie for the advance copy!

This is book 10 in the Alaskan Security-Team Rogue series. Yet it is the first book I am reading in the series, which is a shame because now I need to make time to fit in the first nine books. Though there is a large found family that has obviously developed over the course of the series, this was still easily read as a standalone and ends with a HEA. It is written in third person from an alternating dual POV.
Eloise and Nate are both good at hiding their true selves from the world. They have masks they have developed over time. I love that underneath the masks, when they are forced to show their true selves, they are even more perfect for each other than either could have imagined.
Initially, Nate resists Eloise. His back story broke my heart and helped me understand why he resisted her even though they are meant to be. Once they are stuck together and are on the run, they each shine as their true personalities and vulnerabilities are revealed. There is an undeniable chemistry between them, and it is a little bit of a slow burn to get to the culmination of that.
Action, suspense, and some very funny moments along the way, this book is filled with likeable characters that I fell in love with. As an Alaskan, I find it is often easy to critique books set in Alaska. This is not one of those books. Westbrook nailed the small town feel that is the large state/small population of Alaska. The characters who live in isolation felt true and accurate to my experience. Reggie, in particular, was a revelation that reminded me in many ways of my late mother-in-law. This was such a fun read. I definitely need to find the time to go back and read the other books in the series.
I am voluntarily leaving this honest review after receiving an advance reader copy of the book.

They are both hiding...

...for very similar reasons.

Both Nate and Eloise are hiding behind the veneer they think people want to see, they are hiding their past, keeping their true personality locked down and portraying who they think people want to see but mostly they are lying to themselves about who and what they want. However, the more time they spend together, the more the mask slips, until eventually it all comes crashing down around their ears and they realise that whilst they really liked the version of the other person they had got to know, the one buried deep and hiding in the shadows is the other part of their soul. The one they fall completely and totally in love with, they one meant to be theirs...who knew being themself was so important!
It breaks my heart to see them both so insecure and lacking in self worth, and it is crushing to see Nate relive his trauma when he sees Bryson and the life he leads, but I REALLY LOVE seeing the walls drop, their real, sassy, snarky personalities emerge and them form a family. A family created through love, that has an unbreakable bond and a unique understanding of just how valuable that family is.
I look forward to the answers that are left hanging here, but are promised in book eleven. And I cannot wait for the fireworks I know that book will contain, Alaskan Security will need to brace for the miniature tornado of a woman who will once again bring chaos and havoc into their well ordered lives!
I read this on Kindle Unlimited.

This review wrote itself. ❤️ I loved Line Of Resistance by Jemma Westbrook. Eloise and Nate's story is one of my new favorites in the Alaskan Security series. Everything is here - sexy, spice, suspense and SNOW! ( Hello, Alaska! ) IYKYK 🤣. I always enjoy the dialogue that Jemma (as written by Janice Whiteaker) writes between her characters. It feels real to me and also provides some comic relief. One thing I always love and appreciate about JW's books; is her ability to take 2 imperfect humans and make them perfect for each other. 💜 There's no other way to explain it, but by the end of the book I just can't imagine Nate & Eloise being with anyone but each other. 💕 Throw in a sassy mature lady and a homicidal moose and you cant go wrong. 😀Thank you again Jemma/Janice. I am never disappointed. This book can be read as a stand-alone but the earlier books - all 9 of them - are so enjoyable that I highly recommend reading them. The next book in this series is due in December and I'm so looking forward to it.

Nate and Eloise

I am seriously addicted to the characters in this series, and can't believe that I've finished book 10! Definitely read in order for the best experience.

Nate and Eloise have had a stop and start relationship, neither one believing that the other wanted more. I appreciated the self sufficient attitude and competency Eloise had, and how Nate reacted to it.

There were several times that the storyline was downright heartbreaking, but in the end, things ended as I wanted them to, for Bryson, Nate, and all involved.

Several things are still unclear and the threats against Alaskan Security seem to compound with each new HEA, so I am absolutely looking forward to seeing how all of this resolves.

I do love this Alaskan Security team series, definitely one of my favourites and this one is no exception. Nate and Eloise have a little bit of history, with back and forth of will they/won't they - most foiled by Nate himself who is scared to lose his only family. Both really grow during this book and learn that being them true selves (and not the version they think they need to me) is not only okay, but they are loved as themselves. As always, alongside their great character development and as their romance brews, there is action, adventure, violence, new mysteries, villains, running for their lives, a really lovely side story which I won't spoil, and it all comes together in the best way, a HEA with Nate and Eloise not only finding each other but also themselves. Loved this addition to the series, and as always can't wait for more.

What an absolutely wonderful read. I just love all the Alaskan Security gang, adding new kick ass female members is the best and we get more than one in this book.

Nate and Eloise’s have a love hate relationship, most of the hate comes from Eloise after Nate made his intentions clear, several times, that he’s not interested, or so she believes! This couldn’t be farther from the truth.

Both are fighting inner demons, one from abandonment issues and the other from hiding the real them, both for fear of losing everything.

Definitely an all the feels rollercoaster, with some smoking hotness and of course, as this is Alaskan Security, we have plot twists and baddies!

A fantastic story for Nate and Eloise, watching those walls and insecurities falling and building the trust. I loved Bryson and Reggie, they’ll make a great addition to the crew.

Leaving on us on a tad of a cliffy here 👀 I need to know who’s who and who did it……soooooon!!!

Bring on Point of Contact where we get the final instalment of Rogue with Reed and Courtney(the tantrum princess 🤣) and some answers I hope 😏

Steamy Suspense with a Healthy Side of Snark

I’ve come to expect certain things from Jemma Westbrook’s Alaskan Security series: fantastic edge-of-your-seat suspense, perfect banter between characters, steamy scenes that necessitate a fan and cold glass of water, book boyfriends who step up for their HEAs and their found family, and a girl gang poised and ready to support a heroine who’s already stepping up to support herself. And Line of Resistance brought it all! And then some!

Eloise is a sassy, sarcastic, take-no-prisoners girl after my own heart. But so far it’s only been beneath the surface, hidden by years of well-cultivated words and intentions. A facade. Her true self was always there, just waiting to be brought out by the right mix of situations and a partner who understood and recognized her mask for what it was. Because he wore one very similar, but for very different reasons.

Westbrook does an amazing job of bringing Nate and Eloise together, using forced proximity to bond her well-developed characters through an equally well-developed plot. Weaving in elements of mystery and intrigue—both around the characters and their situation—Westbrook helps the characters and the reader recognize just how perfect Eloise and Nate are for each other. But not as the people they allow others to see, as the people they truly are and reveal to each other through their words, actions, and interactions with others.

I know this is a romantic suspense novel, but when I look back at my Kindle highlights, so many of them are laced with humor and emotional depth. And that is one of the things that truly draws me back to Alaskan Security so often. There’s so much more to every book, character, and storyline than surface level suspense. And after seeing Nate and Eloise finally get their well-deserved HEA, I can’t wait to see who Westbrook brings together next.

I one-clicked this within 15 minutes of getting the email about the release. Then I started reading and remembered why this author/series drives me crazy - the sloooooow burn! Why do you hate your readers?!?! lol

I rarely read duets, never mind series with themes that go through 10 books, so the fact that she's still got me on the hook at this point is nothing short of incredible.

It had been a while since I read the last book, so I had to go review a bit of back story here and there. I don't think this book would work as a stand-alone, but it definitely contributes to the slow development of the story of this really fantastic group of people. Anyone who has stuck with the series through 9 prior books is really invested in these characters and it's great how each book shows more of all of their lives not just the couple who is the focus. I felt like maybe there was a smaller slice of the plot in this story than in some books, but when I've thought that in the past the next book always makes it all make sense, so I'll reserve judgment on that.

Nate and Eloise both have some relational issues they need to work out individually in order to be together. I felt like maybe this will they/won't they struggle went on a little too long. I wanted to see them together sooner. however, they do get together long before the end of the book so that (foolishly!) led me to think that there would be more answers in the last part of the book than what we actually got. When they do get together we see what a great pair they are, and Bryson fits perfectly into the whole Alaskan Security world.

There was plenty to enjoy, lots to keep us guessing and definitely much suspense built up for Book 11 "Point of Contact" - which is not due out until Dec 22. Whaat?! Too long!! I need answers!

Reading Line of Resistance felt like going home! The characters and feeling are definitely familiar as I have read the entire series. Stepping outside of the Alaskan Security compound brought a different experience and some fun, steamy moments, but the suspense Jemma Westbrook writes so well is still there.
Nate and Eloise are not exactly what they appear to be on the surface. They struggle to hold on to the masks that hide their inner truths. Nate is a confident man, but an unloved little boy is inside the charming facade he’s developed. His work family means everything to him. Eloise is a sweet woman, but is a kindred spirit with the sassy ladies of Intel. She is definitely in her element in the backwoods of Alaska.
The love/hate attraction between them has misunderstandings and a simmering banter that builds into snarky, sexy conversations. Relying on each other to survive, forced proximity and one sleeping bag leads to steamy times that were hot even though it’s so cold! Giving in to their attraction has risks, but it’s so worth it! I was excited to see them grow closer and realize how they belong together.
Just when I thought the storyline was going one way, everything took a turn. There was a lot of humor and emotions tying it all together on the way to a satisfying HEA. Anything and everything can happen in an Alaskan security book! Throw a moose and a nosy, old lady into the mix and it’s hilarious! The found family theme that runs through the series is a big part of Nate and Eloise’s future and I love it!
My interest grows with each book in the Alaskan Security world. I know the next book will just as good! Oh, and I want a Nerf gun! I loved that scene!

Awww man...loved this book. Eloise is my kind of lady! How she protects Bryson as if he was her own. Even going out in a storm to make sure he is ok, only for a moose to put a stop to her plans. Enter Nate...after making Eloise think he doesn't want to have anything to do with her, because he felt that if things were to not work out between them his friends will choose her over him. He didn't want to lose the only family he has in his life. Well, color him surprised when he goes looking for Eloise during a storm, only for the same moose that caused Eloise's problems to cause the same problems for him. Eloise comes well prepared for any situation and it's this preparedness that saves their lives. One can't help to fall in love with Nate, his softness coming through all the hardness that surrounds him. They balance each other even if it takes them a while to recognize it. Getting to know these two, at times were heartbreaking, but you just knew that there has to be a happy ending not just for them but for sweet Bryson. Let's not forget the unexpected Reggie! I sure hope she gets more recognition in the next book. I can see her telling Courtney a few truths about life and being a spoilt brat...

Nate and Eloise

This book was quite the adventure. From a homicidal moose to a hike through the snowy Alaskan wilderness, there was plenty to keep me interested. Add in the back and forth between Nate and Eloise and it was the perfect addition to this series.

There was a heavy dose of miscommunication at the beginning of this book. Nate was dealing with some past insecurities and demons that led him to fear being deserted by his family and he didn’t communicate that very well. But when Nate finally realized he couldn’t push Eloise away anymore and confided in her, he was all in.

I loved Eloise’s character. She was just as desperate to fit in as Nate was, just for different reasons. I loved that they had so much in common and that their insecurities and fears matched. I loved the way they felt comfortable being themselves around each other and that led to them being more comfortable in their own skin.

Bryson was the character I didn’t know this book needed. The way Eloise and Nate cared for him brought them together and I just loved seeing Bryson get to be a part of their happily ever after.

I can’t wait for Reed’s book to get closure on the few mysteries left unsolved in this book.

I just love Alaskan security series and Eloise and Nate were no exception to the series…
From the first word to the last this story keeps you on your toes….
It’s filled with so much emotion, hilarity and suspense!
Nate breaks you as you gain an insight into who he is and why he acts the way he does! He wants to be part of the big picture… to feel needed, worthy and untimely belong!
Eloise hides her true self from the world fearing that she will be disliked and ridiculed… her goal is to belong even at the expense of her true self. She has the biggest heart but her strength is all encompassing.
I love their fierceness in their protection and guidance of Bryson.
Together they form a formable team as they try to navigate their relationship and try to keep out of the crosshairs of an enemy they can’t see…but is someone else trying to protect them??
it wasn’t always and an easy book to read due to the nature of the story and the emotions evoked but the written word on each page was absolutely brilliant.
Oh I nearly forgot the Moose..no more to be said ( insert crying laughing face)
Please pick up this book it’s absolutely brilliant.

Line of Resistance by Jemma Westbrook
In this new installment of Jemma Westbrook’s Alaskan Security series, Line of Resistance does not disappoint. This book has everything you want in one of Ms. Westbrook’s books; Alaskan wildlife, hot steamy characters, a bit of suspense and intrigue and a HEA.
We had previously met Nate and Eloise in the latest Alaskan Security books and we knew that this was going to a wild ride with the two of them. Eloise wasn’t having it with Nate; after all, he had disappointed her before and she wasn’t going down that road again. Well, at least until they both get stuck in the snow, by a moose. With no cell service and someone out to get them, they had to hightail it across the Alaskan wilderness. During that excursion, they learn a lot about each other and maybe what happened in the past becomes a lot clearer.
Nate and Eloise are fire and ice and when it gets right down to it, they are perfect for each other. You will laugh and cry during this book and will fall in love with both of them. Do not hesitate to read this book!

Nate and Eloise think they are so different, they have no idea how much alike they really are!
When it comes down to it Nate is still a scared boy afraid of being left behind. Afraid that when push comes to shove he won't be the first choice. So he pushes Eloise away because he thinks she deserves more than what he can give her. But when he sees her attentiveness to a shy little boy that reminds him so much of himself he can't help how much he is drawn to her.
Eloise is mostly a positive, happy go lucky person but what she doesn't let anyone else see is how much more there is to her. She loves the outdoors, she's a survivalist, she's snarky and even loves to....curse. Although I have to say I absolutely love her made up words, because I do that too!!! LOL
You will absolutely love Nate and Eloise!!!

Elementary school principal Eloise Rivers is lonely and Operative Nate Giles is too petrified to commit. They like each other but Eloise has a history of choosing the wrong guy; Nate has commitment issues and Eloise is tired of Nate’s failure to seal the deal after making stellar overtures. But when Eloise seems to be missing during a snowstorm, Nate’s elected to find her.

Find her he does before they both fall victim in a dead cell phone area. Trading snarky barbs and blame is interrupted by shots that barely miss them. They escape, look for shelter and evade a shooter, resolving their issues along the way. After a harrowing week, the team secures Eloise is at work though she’s worried about a missing student. Securing the safety net, a shot the team didn’t fire misses Eloise by inches!

Line Of Resistance is the tenth book in the Alaskan Security- Team Rogue Series. It is a standalone romance with a protective hero that falls first and has a touch her and die attitude, it also includes stranded, forced proximity, and gang tropes.

This was an awesome read and I thoroughly enjoyed the characters and storyline. Eloise and Nate are an amazing pairing. They both have to overcome their own personal struggles to reach their HEA together. I loved seeing their relationship develop despite the less than ideal situation.

The writing, flow, and pace of the story was fantastic, as were the characters, character development, world building, storyline, and storytelling. This is definitely a book that I would recommend.

Eloise is a school principal who is floating along in her personal life, single and showing others only her perfected outer shell. She is looking for love, for a connection, for meaning relationships. I love how she lets go with Nate. I llove ven more how she learns she can be her whole self. I love how Nate tries but just can't stay away from Eloise at what he is afraid will be great cost to himself. It is like fate is at work against him. I love the friends and found family. There is great chemistry, shaking suspense and mystery with a dab of action. The characters are well developed and the writing is smooth. The emotions are real. These are my thoughts. Thanks to the author for an advance copy.

Great book

I really enjoyed reading about Eloise and Nate. It really picked up about 20% in and then it was non-stop action. They had quite the adventure while stuck in the wilderness during a snow storm while evading bad guys with guns. It put them in a lot of alone time to get to know each other better and work out their past issues. Nate had to explain why he kept going hot & cold on her and once he wrapped up his mind that he wanted to pursue her, it was wonderful watching their relationship blossom. They both have their insecurities and were able to help each other through them. They have very fun banter and I like her snarky self. I recommend this book.

Nate and Eloise

Absolutely loved this story. I have been following Team Rogue for awhile, have loved each team members story, Nate and Eloise are now one of my favorite couples. The banter between the two as they get to know each other while running from an unknown entity is so on point. Eloise is smart, resourceful, and quick with the comedic timing of responses…but it is very touching and funny to see her true character development, and Nate was so tuned into her, he didn’t miss a beat keeping up with her, while seeing beneath the facade she was always presenting. Eloise is exhausted after spending too long trying to live up to others expectations . After several hot and cold interactions with Nate, she writes him off as just another person who doesn’t think she measures up. This couldn’t be farther from the truth. Nate wants Eloise so much but he’s terrified to risk the family he has built for himself. The two are forced to find common ground when a snowstorm leaves them stranded together. Love a strong heroine and a hero that embraces that strength which this book excels in! Highly recommend.

I have been so looking forward to this book - Nate and Eloise’s story. Well, where do I start? Plenty of action YES, romance YES, suspense YES. After being stranded in a snowstorm this couple learn more about each other but more importantly learn to trust. There’s plenty of misunderstandings but these pale into nothing once they realise someone is out to kill Eloise after a hail of bullets is unleashed on her SUV. Once again Jemma’s books are full of intrigue, emotional ups and downs, and lingering issues from each of their pasts. If you love this Alaskan Security series – as I do – you won’t be disappointed.
I received an Advanced Readers Copy of this book, in exchange for an honest review.

It was great to be back reading Line of Resistance, Alaskan Security -Team Rogue book number 10 in the series by Jemma Westbrook. I’ve been eagerly waiting for Nate and Eloise’s story. This was a book about two people physically and emotionally attracted to one another, but worried about being enough. When they get stuck out in a snowstorm together they learn to trust each other while trying to survive. I truly enjoyed reading their story and can’t wait for the next in the series!!

Eloise and Nate. Both are hiding their true selfs and it takes a natural disaster, a wild animal, and a mysterious enemy for them to come together and reveal their true selves to each other. It seems like an enemy to lovers book, but it’s more like a finally getting together book. They have a crazy start, a sweet middle (with some new friends sprinkled throughout ;)) and a sweet ending with a tag along! I love the suspense in this book and I can’t wait to read the finale of the series!

This was a bit of a miss

I thought Eloise's reason for being sunshine and rainbows all the time was so dumb. It made her come off as whiney and annoying. Nate's reason was a bit ridiculous too. Like really?! Just be an adult. There was also some editing things that should've been caught during a read through. Not the best of the series and if you want certain questions answered you have to read the next book.

I had high hopes for this because i thought ut would be just nice pretty simple romance book where they were avoiding each other and end the end fall in love. But no somehow in the middle of the book, they started to survive in the forest because idk ehy would someone even hurt them? That part didn't make any sense to me.like ehy would someone want to shoot at them? At random people?

I can't wait to read about who snuffed out that Doggy Dookie putting an end to a little boy's suffering. But I love how Nate's family just got a little bit bigger with a new son and a built in grandma 😃
